This place was amazing. Came here with a friend. I got an aperol spritz that was good with a salad and the chimichurri steak. The servers were very nice! They have an outside little patio area (close to the street) that has fans for the spring and summertime as well as a low lit inside that gives a nice ambience. They mentioned the pizza also being a local favorite. Definitely come check this spot out !
A lovely restaurant in Federal Hill with lots of street parking nearby. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Everything my party had to eat was absolutely delicious. They make their pastas and pizza dough in house. We had the summer tomato crostini and I had the Fungo Rossi pizza. The crust was fluffy and crunchy all at the same time. I had dessert also - I forgot the name of the mango cream and almond shortcake. Phenomenal service as well! Our server checked in often and our water supply was always well stocked! I forgot to mention the pecorino was refreshing!
Love sitting at the bar for HH. Stephen rocksss! Pizza always a solid choice. Smash burger thursday kicks ass!
Girl Dinner The J.D. Salinger Salad + Thrice-cooked truffle fries. We sat at the bar, service was quick, ambiance was lovely, and the garlic was STRONG (in the best way). Perfect pit stop to kick off girls night because thanks to these dishes, we can ward off the men with our breath.
Awesome food and wonderful, attentive service. Even dishes you have eaten a thousand times before at a thousand different places can be made with a delightful twist .. and that was our experience at Hersh's .. not to mention we did not have a reservation and the owner was kind enough to make space for us inspite of being over booked.. lovely interiors and patio.as well!! I'm not a local but would love to visit again when I'm in town ..
Finally! I've been waiting for what seems like forever to try Hersh's and it did not disappoint. Before we begin, you should always shoot to have a reservation before trying your luck with a walk in. Inside is beautiful but it is not a big spot. Service and the cocktails were great, but the food totally stole the show. The pizza is amazing and all the other entrees that passed our table looked delicious too. Hersh's had great wine selection and the Something Green cocktail was delightful. Be sure to give it a try before they close for the season!
I came to Hershey's to get an espresso martini and that was amazing! They have a later happy hour (till 7) so I was also able to get a tasty Paloma and some focaccia. It wasn't really busy for a Friday & I loved the low lights!
I haven't been to Hersh's in about 5 years due to consistently bad service. Tried it again for a friends birthday and while there were some improvements, it's clear some training is still needed and some issues are unresolved. For what it's worth, at 5pm on a Friday it was completely empty for about an hour. No one there for happy hour? Not a good sign in Baltimore. We split the stracciatella, which was actually incredible and I would highly recommend. For pizzas - we split a Salami Mommy and an Il pagliacci. Both were also good. The service was strange for how empty they were. I arrived about 30 min before my friends and simply asked if I could sit at a table outside with a drink while I waited. Then, when they arrived, we'd all move inside to our previously reversed table. They seemed baffled and noted there were reservations outside at the tables for right now. Again, restaurant is empty. They said they would check. Miraculously they were able to find a table that no one would be seated at for the next 30 min. As I sat for 30 min alone, not one single person came to sit outside. Why the confusion? Not sure. Truly the reason for the mediocre review is the petty, sneaky cake cutting fee. We brought a small cake. I have no problem with a cake cutting fee if there's a large party with a large cake as it takes time to do so. But even then, let the table know when you offer. We had THREE people and the server offered to cut the cake (didn't note there was a cake cutting fee... why?) and didn't even cut the whole cake!!! It was a small Bundt cake and he cut 3 pieces and left the rest whole. I thought he was being nice until I got a $7 charge for that. For what? Then the waitress noted they usually give you a complimentary piece of cake for your bday - well we brought our own so she didn't, which is fine, but at least wave the already ridiculous cake cutting fee! So we paid $7 for no free piece of cake and our whole cake was not cut. It's just not a way to treat people. Maybe it will be another 5 years until I return...
Food is amazing. Highly recommend the L' Ari B pizza. Meatballs, truffle fries, and crunch salad are all also wonderful. Management is very kind and friendly, treated us very well with amazing hospitality. Servers were also great. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. Lovely warm lighting inside that is not overpowering. Calm and lovely ambience inside, perfect for a special date night if you want something nice but not too crazy. Was worried about pizza portion size, but it ended up being a nice portion. Definitely believe that you should go try this place out for yourself. I can see why it has been rated and regarded so highly.
Such a cute small place to have a good meal and great service. Our waiter was amazing and friendly, as well as the other employees. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. The food was amazing and a nice change in style from the regular. Even for just apps and drinks, this is a great place to hit up!
The servers were so attentive and nice! The place was cute, I appreciated the touch of being our table over a lit tea candle for the ambiance. Now the food. It tasted so fresh! I wouldn't expect lemon on pizza would sound good but my mind was changed! We also ordered the crab fettuccine. It had a decent amount of crab and the noodles were very tasty. The dessert was also very light and so good. It had almonds on it and olive oil ice cream that was to die for! Can't wait to go back!

Came back to visit with extended family, including kids. How the hell do they manage to be even more impressive in this scenario?! Perfect for a date? YES. Accommodating and welcoming for families? YES. YES? YES. We ordered pasta, pizza, meatballs, and salad for appetizers. The cocktails were on point. The bottle of Super Tuscan wine? Excellent. This can't be happening. My folks awkwardly ordered second rounds of appetizers and the server didn't even bat an eye- the polish on this place is ethereal. Five stars, no notes. If you want a restaurant that says "this is my city" then I can honestly say this is your restaurant.
I walked in (literally) for a solo dinner right before a storm started up. They got me seated upstairs even though it looked to be a pretty busy night for dining (Saturday). Service was quick and friendly and food came out shortly after ordering. I got the clam fettucine and it was so so good. Obviously not a tradition vongole but it was so herbaceous and green and had just the right kick of spiciness. I don't know if its a spring dish only but man I hope it's a year round staple. I also ended up getting the dessert which was also very good. It was a bit too tart for my liking but that's entirely on me. It said lemon curd but I underestimated the tartness of it. I got the feeling this place would be equally good for a date night or a night out with friends. It's not too noisy and had a nice homey ambiance. Would love to try the pizza next time! read more
We love Hersh's, a creative Italian restaurant and bar, on Wells Street at the edge between Riverside and South Baltimore since 2011, sister&brother-owned. In nice weather (Jun 2026) on a weeknight, we were lucky to grab an outdoor table on their roof-covered patio. The staff was welcoming and attentive, as always, inclusive of our 3-year-old companion, even though the place was pretty busy. We shared a Crunch Salad: small broccoli, sliced radishes, small apple and roasted sweet potato cubes, creatively elevated with dried cranberries and crisped pumpkin seeds, and a tangy lightly-sweet maple and mustard vinaigrette. Yep! Crunchy and refreshing! We had a colorful Wood-fired Asparagus & Rainbow Carrots appetizer: tender carrot tops and sliced almonds in a pesto, with tangy pecorino, brightened with honey and yogurt. A yummy slightly-sweet start to the meal. They make their famous Neapolitan pizzas using a super-fine Italian flour that gets a thin crispy veneer in seconds in their 800-degree oven, with a light chew that miraculously melts in your mouth. We always get one! This time we chose the Fungo Rosso: featuring generous savory black-pearl & oyster mushrooms, a mushroom-tomato sauce, and creamy housemade mozzarella, with a sprinkling of tangy sheep's-milk pecorino. Their Spring Onion Cavatelli is one of their elegant creations using just a few ingredients: tender pasta smothered in a green ramp-pesto, with charred spring onions and housemade-ricotta, over a thin gently-spicy almond macha salsa. We took their Housemade Stracciatella antipasta as a fun dessert: the creamiest burrata, tangled with fresh strawberries, strawberry-jam, and pickled green strawberries! Sprinkled with pistachios, some lemon, and bright basil oil. A sweet-enough flavor adventure! There's a good amount of nearby metered street-parking for this bright fresh simply-decorated restaurant. Hersh's has an intimate feeling indoors, with around 30 seats and benches at combinable tables of 2 to 4, and a 10-seat bar (with seat-backs). And since 2021, our favorite area, 30 outdoor seats at combinable tables of 2 to 4 on a roofed patio. We had a creative reasonably-priced meal and a pleasant relaxing evening at Hersh's, a favorite with a delightful Italian menu, just south of Fed Hill. With all their delicious offerings, don't overlook their great pizza! read more
Delicious food, great service and a nice environment! 11/10 recommend the truffle fries. Their garlic aioli is a game-changer. My husband also loved shrimp and calamari appetizer. Spicy and well done. I enjoyed my fungo rosso pizza and the fried prosciutto balls. My husband enjoyed his steak and the carrots. The pizza crust is DIVINE which makes me think all of their pizza is good. I'll try another app and different pizza next time! They also offered complimentary ice cream for his bday. This is honestly my favorite pizza place in Baltimore. It is so good! I've been coming here and raving about it since I first visited in 2021 before moving here! I can't wait until it gets warm outside again because I love their outdoor seating and they're always so sweet to my dog Teddy and always bring him treats when he's there! The service is so great! Their happy hour is really great and wine is six dollars a glass. This is my favorite place to take anyone visiting Baltimore, dinner, date with my husband, or if I want to get dinner with my friends after work! read more

My dad and I visited here for the first time and absolutely enjoyed it! I'm mostly plant based so we decided to cater to that diet and shared it all We ordered: The Big V - this was our favorite for sure. Pizza crust was perfect, be sure to ask.for a side of their chili oil to dip it in. Perfectly sauced, and top with well dressed olive oil arugula. Pepperoni-oni - we got this with plant based cheese and Pepperoni, and it was delicious as well Our waitress suggested dessert, and I thought I was too full,but I'm so happy she suggested ot. We shared 2 scoops, roasted strawberry and chocolate, and both were damn good. Ice creams are from the Taharka Brothers, so if you know that brand, you already know the quality! The chocolate ice cream taste like it has a brownie in it, and yes,both are vegan options. We had a wonderful waitress, Abby. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu, thanks for excellent service Abby!!! read more

I love Hersh's! This super underrated restaurant is the place you want to be if you want quality service and food! From the pasta, to the pizza to the porchetta everything is so good! I have only been twice but I highly recommend trying it today! The service is always so welcoming and gives of the right vibes!! I recommend going here if you are looking for something off the beaten path! Good good, good drinks and a nice vibe always equals a good time! read more

This is the most authentic and best pizza I've had in Baltimore. I would definitely go back here and recommend it to anyone without any hesitation. The patio seating with the lights is very beautiful. Service was great and the pizza prices were very fair. Drinks and some of the other food items can be on the pricier end. Don't think they had any specials going, which might motivate me to go back more. That being said, the place was still busy. Food came out quickly and the experience was very enjoyable. Looked like they are dog friendly on the outside. Location is awesome! read more

Good Italian food! Relatively small menu. Meatballs were a little bland but still good. Loved the cacio de pepe. Pizza was great! Ask for the chili oil on the side for dipping the crust. I thought the portion sizes were small. Would still come back and maybe order more food! read more

Beautiful little restaurant space, quiet enough to enjoy a good conversation. We got the wood fired octopus, which was AMAZING! Then the carbonara which was ok and salami with hot honey pizza which I loved, my boyfriend thought it was just ok. We got dessert to go, the server was SUPER helpful in his information about each option. Tiramisu was good but the cannolis tasted like they forgot to add sugar. Very nice staff and a little on the pricey side for pizza but what you would expect for a nice Italian dinner. read more
Hersh's is the best pizza I've had in the entire USA, maybe the world. Hands down. No competition. If you live in Washington, D.C. like I do, it's worth the drive just for the pizza. It's a neighborhood joint in an industrial part of Baltimore. They have plenty of space inside, including a bar, and outdoor patio seating. Since the weather was nice, we sat outside and it was perfect. They have an excellent drink list with hard cider included. I ordered a rare cider from the UK and it was the best I've ever had. Wow. So crisp and refreshing. The pizza I ordered was the sausage pizza and wow. It was perfectly made with the best dough you'll ever have. I wanted them to bring Nutella out so I could dip it in chocolate. It was so good. If you need good pizza, drive, fly or run to Hersh's! read more
OMG so glad I stopped by here before my boyfriend moved out of Baltimore. We made a reservation and stopped by here on a Friday night. We scootered because it didn't look like there was a ton of parking available nearby (it's street parking). We ordered the hot chili green beans, the marghertia x pizza, and the squid ink pasta. Oh my YUM. The green beans were delicious! They were made with a chili oil--typically the stuff you get on the side at chinese restaurants, but to douse it all over green beans? I'm sold. The only drawback was that I didn't realize that this was fried (I know, it says crispy on the menu, I should've inferred. my b). so I would not recommend if you're trying to order this to be healthy. Now for the pizza and pasta, I was truly blown away. Their dough here is delicious, thin, and crispy. The margherita x was phenomenal with the freshest cherry tomatoes and the homemade pasta blew me away. I typically find squid ink pastas overrated, but after getting the recommendation from our server, I was not disappointed. It's light, the perfect texture, garlicky, crispy goodness. The service was also top notch here. She made sure our waters were refilled and came back to check on us frequently. Overall, I highly recommend and I would love to return. read more
Incredible food all around!!! Everything tasted incredible. We started with the meatballs which were delicious, then the carbonara fries which were insane and so delicious and genuinely tasted exactly like carbonara with tons of guanciale chunks. We got two pastas and two pizzas and shared everything. All in all great food and cozy vibes especially during these cold winter months. I loved Hersh's! Just a wonderful peaceful sophisticated atmosphere and the staff welcomed us so warm heartedly. I got the pink gin and tonic which had the $7 happy hour deal and it was not bad. Not my favorite g and t ever, but solid. Pizza was amazing I got the broccoli rabe and sausage. I wanted the manny trillo but the basil pesto has nuts, too bad! The tiramisu was ok, but also not the best I've ever had. read more
Came out to Hersh's on a recent trip to Baltimore, and am happy I did as this is a spot I could definitely come back to sooner rather than later. They were overly busy on a weekday which was nice. Service was great, and food came quickly. I started with the carbonara which was amazing. Perfectly springy, al dente noodles in a super rich sauce that had added smoke and saltiness from the guanciale. I want to come back for more pastas. As a second, I had a spring ramp pizza. The pizza was chewy and a little charred, not quite Neapolitan to me but still very good. This particular one was sauceless, with ramps, spring onion, cheese and an egg. It tasted very fresh and delicious, and I had no problem eating the entire pie. They also had a half price wine bottle deal when I visited, which is awesome. Keep it up Hersh's. read more
