Traveling all the way from San Jose, California, I wasn't expecting to stumble upon one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time--but that's exactly what happened at Tiny Brick Oven in Baltimore, Maryland. I originally heard about this spot from Barstool Pizza and, even though I was about an hour away at the time, I decided it was worth the trip. I'm really glad I did. I ordered the Mushroom and Olive pizza, and honestly, it was so good I almost finished the entire large by myself. The flavors were incredible, the crust was just right, and you can really taste the quality and care that goes into every bite. If you're ever anywhere near Baltimore, this place is an absolute must-try. I love supporting small, family-owned businesses like this, and Tiny Brick Oven truly deserves the recognition. I was walking around the Inner Harbor to do some shopping but I couldn't find what I was looking for so I walked up Light Street. I was pretty hungry and saw Tiny Brick Oven Pizza. I have been wanting to try the pizza for over a year and finally I did. I walked in and the owner Will was super friendly and asked me my name. He asked me what I liked and I said cheese. I do like pepperoni and sausage but sometimes they are salty for me. Will suggested I get two slices of cheese and a drink and I said that sounds good. He also let me try the gelato and the caramel gelato was really good. I didn't get gelato this time but I will in my next visit. The pizza was crispy and thin and not salty. How I like my NY style pizza. I will definitely be back cause I found the best pizza in Maryland and its been a long time since I have had a great pizza. read more

TLDR: Great pizza, awesome owner, and a real neighborhood asset. After living in Federal Hill for six years, I've seen plenty of pizza spots come and go, but TinyBrickOven is definitely a step above the rest. Not just because of the pizza, but because of how the owner runs his business and cares about the community. We stopped in before a nearby Yelp Elite event to grab a quick pregame slice and went for their 2-slice special ie. two slices and a Jones fountain soda for $8. Following Dave Portnoy's advice, we got plain cheese to really test the quality. The slices didn't disappoint. Crispy bottom, soft top, and a perfect sauce/cheese ratio. The slice size was a little smaller than NYC-style slices, but for the price, no complaints. The staff was super friendly and even gave us free gelato samples while we waited. The owner is clearly passionate about what he does, and I love that he runs a "pay it forward" slice program so people can donate slices for those in need. Overall, this place is a true local favorite and well worth a visit if you're in the Fed Hill area. Great pizza, great people, great vibes. read more

One bite, everybody knows the rules! Such a great local spot if you're looking for No Frills pizza. Upon approaching the building, the owner was outside doing some cosmetic work and he immediately created us and welcomed us in. Then we walked in one of the staff also greeted us right away and let us know if we needed any help just to let her know. The menu overall is pretty simple and the prices are great. They also offer some dessert options and she even offered us some free samples of their gelato. And after the free samples, I would highly recommend that everyone grabs a cup. The pizza is so simple and a wave of nostalgia just came over as I but into it. While the pizza was on the thinner side, it still had a nice crunch and a chew at the same time. They also have Jones soda on tap, which is amazing because I really think their sodas are flavorful. The spot overall is pretty small so if you plan on sending they do have a couple tables and some bar areas but otherwise you would probably have to take it to go . If you're not familiar with the area, it is street parking and a lot of the places in Federal Hill are permit only so just make sure that you read the science carefully before parking. read more

It's good. Place is kind of a mess on the inside. Orders weren't ready when they said they would be even if it's just one pizza. Owner is nice though and offered samples of gelato both times I went. Pizza is so thin if you have even a 5 minute drive home it will be lukewarm when you get home. I could easily house a whole pie myself due to how thin it is as well, so for $22 it's not really worth it in my opinion. Full disclosure- I am a Michigan fan, who lived in DC for about 5 years before moving to Brooklyn. Always loved coming to Baltimore for Orioles games and just hanging out in the city. After watching El Presidente's interview last year, I was moved by his gesture to keep TinyBrickOven open with his donation. I can affirm the pizza was worth the three-plus hour drive I decided to make today from Brooklyn. I've returned just now and have decided to write my first Yelp review in years. With the Christmas holidays coming up and a slow weekend, I decided to make the trip and have to say it's worth that destination. First, it is a Veteran supported service, always a plus. Second, Will the owner, is very personable and friendly. Third, the pizza is indeed delicious as Dave Portnoy points out: great "undercarriage." It was so tasty, I ended up having a slice of pepperoni, then two more cheese slices. By the end of my time there, I basically became a Ninja Turtle. COWABUNGA! (Side note: Remember when Yelp reviews used to be fun like this?) The place is small and cozy, but the ambiance is incredible. For the Christmas holiday, as you leave, there is some fake snow which comes down as you're walking out. Whether you're a Michigan fan, Ohio State, Ravens, or don't care at all about football, I would say that people who know pizza, like Portnoy and people who live in New York, can attest that Will makes some excellent pizza. You should definitely stop by and we should all definitely support a liquor license there (can't believe it's been a year and still nothing). That will definitely take things up a notch. read more

Please read the whole review as there is some important information!!! I arrived on a Tuesday morning at 1115 after the infamous Dave Portnoy visit. I was the second person to walk into the door that morning and had the opportunity to speak at length with Will before it got crazy. I have to mention that Will is everything that he was during the Dave Portnoy visit. He is truly the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is down to earth, veteran and all around great guy !! The place is extremely small, 12 seats in total. At the time of review I would say you're not going to be able to sit down and eat as it's just that busy. The pizza..... If you like New York style pizza then it doesn't get any better. It's thin, great sauce and Will uses a high quality pepperoni!!! Due to the high demand patrons were limited to one 16"in pizza per person/or group of two. Groups of four or more could get two pizzas. Will also has an amazing pay it forward system going on. Buy a slice for a person in need!!!! It's sad that it took Dave Portnoy to visit in order to wake us up to this amazing place. I'm glad he did, Will and Tiny Brick Oven are both amazing. read more

Sorry,,,,, but I will pass. I grew up in New York and this is not close to any pizza I have ever eaten. Crust was like a gluten free cracker with sauce painted on with a paint brush totally different from the pictures on line. The cheese was scant with very sparse sprinkle of basil. Just took the pizza making class that takes over the restaurant on Valentine's Day, and it was excellent. Had some of Will's pizza, made my own, and then some excellent house-made gelato for dessert. I love Tiny Brick Oven and can't recommend it more!! The owner is so genuine and sweet, he makes you feel like you're having dinner and conversation with family. The pizza is thin crust and packed with flavor (and hot honey, parm, etc. are offered for an extra kick!); the mozzarella sticks are classic, crunchy, and cheesy; and the gelato and Italian ice are so tasty! The owner let my partner and I try a free sample while we were waiting for our order, and the cherry Italian ice brought me back to childhood, so we had to get a scoop. Anyone who thinks this approximates "NY style pizza" probably hasn't been to New York. After several visits, the place totally lacks consistency. At it's best, the pizza is mediocre - at worst its quite bad. Once, the whole pie I received had been sitting in a rack for who knows how long and they just re-heated it. The frantic juggling act they do with their 'tiny oven' may be endearing...and the owner is charming - but it doesn't make up for the fact that they can't make a fresh product consistently. On a whim we checked out this place. Straight up down and around best pizza I have had since being in Baltimore. Thin slice, amazing cheese to crust ratio, chewy not doughy. Aw man reading all these 5 star reviews, I do feel bad leaving a 3 star review. Maybe I'm just too "basic" to appreciate authentic Neopolitan pizza, but I honestly wasn't a huge fan of it. The owner was perfectly nice and when we had to wait a bit extra because a customer came in, he even offered us free Italian ice (we declined but it was a nice gesture). I just wasn't terribly impressed with the $11 build your own pizza. I thought the pizza was quite small and the toppings were super sparse for $11. However, I do believe that this is more authentic than the usual pizza I get from other joints/chains and understand that it's not super fair to compare a small local business to these bigger restaurants which can scale up and cut costs. The crust to sauce/topping ratio was off by my standards but maybe this is more authentic - it was just way more crust than other stuff. I did overhear the owner saying that this style has less cheese and there is no oil in the crust, so I guess I just don't prefer this style pizza. The crust just felt a bit dry to me and had a slight charred taste to it, which I think is the intention. I will say though that the vegan cheese and the crushed red tomato sauce was delicious! Vegan cheese is made in house and that was some of the best pizza sauce I ever had! Sweet and you could taste the fresh tomatoes. The outdoor seating is cute and perfect for this weather. This place definitely has its fair share of loyal customers and appeals to a certain crowd I'd say! And I always am down to try out and support new local businesses.
