I'm Italian, but I will always have a special place in my heart for American style pizza (I know, my ancestors are probably turning over in their graves right now). Sometimes you just need a slice of junk food heaven to make a tough day a little better. What I love about Homeslyce is their special that includes either a 12 inch or 16 inch pizza with a bottle of wine or a pack of beer. So many of my nights have been made SO much better with this convenient (and cheap) special. Don't forget to order a side of their garlic herb sauce for 75 cents - it's way better than the packaged garlic sauce that comes with most national chains' pizza. What I will say about Homeslyce is that, beyond their pizza, the food is... not great. I've tried their french fries, their mozzarella sticks, their wings, and even their brownie. All of it was pretty disappointing when it came to temperature and flavor. Especially the fried food items, they never seem crispy enough. I took a chance and ordered the 'full brownie' the last time I got delivery and it was very deceiving to say the least. While it looks pretty good in pictures, it was incredibly dry and stale tasting. The so called "chocolate" icing slid right off it and I only took a few bites before discarding it. With all of that said, the delivery service at Homeslyce is very convenient and efficient with delivery times clocking in around 20-40 minutes. Order directly from the restaurant to avoid superfluous fees from delivery apps. All the interactions I've had over the phone or with delivery drivers have been great - everyone is super friendly. Homeslyce is my go-to American pizza joint! Just think twice if you happen to be craving something else besides pizza. read more

I came here with a group of friends for Trivia Night, which is every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Charm City Trivia did a great job setting it up! I came here a few years ago for trivia, and now it's much more organized. You can play with up to a group of 8 people and need to make at least two purchases at HomeSlyce to play! I ordered the 8" Port-The-Bella pizza with vegan cheese, which was the perfect size for one person. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegan cheese; it was much creamier than I was expecting. It didn't have the same cheese pull as normal mozzarella but was still a great complement to the veggies on top of the pizza. I was also impressed by the restaurant's focus on sustainability. So here is a spot that I seldom visit but always love. The most interesting part about this place was finding it lmao. The entrance was sort or hidden. Food: Hey it's pizza right? Slyce pizza: the crust was grilled to perfect crisp, and the toppings tasted standard. However, the entier pizza was way too salty; the outer crispy rim of the crust was literally dusted with a frost layer of salt. I had to consume the entire pizza with a lot of water. Chicken tender: standard. Could be a bit more crispy on the outside. Nutella cheese cake: sweetness was alright. Not very soft and fluffy though, a bit too hard for a cake. Overall: the overly salty pizza was a huge miss. I am struggling to give this place another chance. read more

Don't expect the fanciest or the best pizza you ever had. This is what I call your "casual" pizza place. Sometime I like to order from local spots instead of supporting the franchises like pizzahut and dominoes. It's delicious and the pizza is oddly shaped which looks to be the places signature. The crust is thick but not super crunchy. There is a good amount of cheese and toppings. Only downside was the price. I got what was the smallest pie and it was 13.99. I checked out Homeslyce in Charles Village on a Friday night. I've been to their Mount Vernon location and enjoyed their Thursday $5 sandwich special, and I thought I'd give them a try in their new location. The space itself is large and clean. There are many large tables which are perfect given it's proximity to Johns Hopkins Homewood and the groups of students that would presumably go there, and the bar is also large. Although I visited around 6:30pm the restaurant was only about half full, and my friend and I were quickly seated. My friend and I ordered the Baked Cheese Curds ($8.99) as the appetizer. I grew up in Wisconsin, and the curds were marketed as Wisconsin white cheddar curds. Unfortunately they didn't meet the "Wisconsin standard." However, even if I held them to a lower standard, they didn't meet that standard as well. The cheese had oozed out from all the curds, and they weren't particularly tasty. The other downside of the curds was that they were brought out only about 30 seconds before the pizza; this was nearly 20 minutes after we ordered them. For my main course I had the 1741 Reci-Pie (slyce, $13.99) and my friend had the Homeslyce Classic (slice, $13.99). Both pizzas were excellent both with regard to the basics (crust, sauce) and the choice of toppings. My friend and I each had enough to take some home. I understand that Homeslyce in Charles Village is new, so they're probably working out some kinks with the service and food. I think if they can get the timing of appetizers versus mains, they'd be a 5/5! read more

I came to Homeslyce because I have heard good things about this pizza spot, but the food is overpriced for what it is. I got the lunch special, which came with a caesar salad and Port-the-Bella pizza. The ingredients and crust were great, but the pizza was salty, undercooked, extremely greasy, and soggy, and the salad was below mediocre. Felt hungry after dinner, so came for a quick bite to eat - we were pleased to hear of the half price chicken wings after 9 pm, and ordered a pound buffalo wings with ranch on the side. Loved the sauce on these wings, it was neither too tangy nor too greasy, and the celery that came with it balanced the dish quite well. The whole dish of 12 wings and celery cost us around $6 altogether, making this a delicious and affordable experience.
