It's like a home converted into a hookah lounge we didn't get to see the upstairs but it had a very chill vibe the owner is cool he's attentive and straight up he likes his business to be cool calm and collect and I didn't mind that at all. The reason I give this place 3 stars is because I feel if you turned on the lights this place would look very old and unappealing. The music was Pandora, or YouTube, there were ads. It was a variety of genres in terms of popular music. Migos, Travis Scotts, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, some Arabic music. They have food, the only thing I had was cake that the owner gave my group of 4 for free. It was a coconut cake. It's super cozy with sofas, over-sized chairs, an aquarium and International music videos playing on the flat screen. We didn't have menus, it was more of a consultation amongst friends. Very very rude door person! My friends and I were in town for a job training and decided to try out a local Hookah lounge. We found this location, and the doors were locked when we arrived (the sign outside said open). When we started walking away, the doorman came out and we turned around and asked if they were open. He rudely yelled "the sign says open, you needed to ring the bell" (there was no sign that stated that). He then proceeds to say "Its says it on Yelp and google! You just need to read!" We we're really appalled at how rude he was when we were just trying to go out and have a good time. But unfortunately when we walked off, a white couple walked up and was able to get right in. We absolutely LOVE love this place. The lounge is nice and very private the owner monitors and is very cautious. They serve the best food EVER. We love the chicken with rice and the fish. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own and pay a $10 fee. We been coming here for a long time and really enjoy the hookah it is one of the best. Soooooo I did a yelp search for Baltimore's best hookah lounge after leaving another bar in the area and Pearl lounge popped up. Our group of 10 headed over and much to our surprise and delight we find there is no wait to get in at about midnight on a Saturday night. That's because it was EMPTY... As in there was ab... solutely... no one... in the building... except the owner. He was a very nice guy that welcomed us in and asked if we had an iPod or smartphone we wanted to play music over the speakers on since there was no music playing at all. We set up the trusty playlist and got the tunes going before asking for a cocktail menu. There wasn't one. As in this place did not serve cocktails, liquor, beer, wine, soda, or juice. The owner advised that they were byob AND bring your own food because there was no food available to be served either. He gave us directions to the local package store and a few people headed out for bottles and mixers and stuff to munch on while the rest of us ordered hookah. The hookah was pretty legit and there were no complaints from our party about any of it. When our friends returned with bottles, pizza, and mixers, the owner provided us with plates and cups but he said they were out of ice which we had to go back out for. In hindsight, this was like hanging out in a hospitable stranger's basement. We thought it was REALLY odd and sketchy that each time one of our friends went out for something he had to unlock the door to let them out and locked the door behind them.... as in, we were locked in the entire time we were there and when we asked why he explained that he doesn't want the police to try to raid him again. There were also NO other patrons that came in the ENTIRE time we were there... not a single one. I mentioned that we came in because of their amazing Yelp reviews and he thanked us and let us know that he pays for a monthly service that amounts to approximately $.75 - $1.00 for each 5 star review for Pearl Lounge to try to promote business.... as in fake ones... like people that have never actually been here leaving positive feedback resulting in my stumbling into a bizarre vacant establishment with no food, music, or drinks being run by a very friendly and pleasant man that we could not be sure why was insistent upon locking us inside. 2 stars are because first and foremost and more applicable here than in any other review I've ever posted: THANK THE LORD, WE DID NOT DIE!!! Also, our squad now loves thinking back to the odd night we had here and it brings us all a good laugh. The worst experience I've ever had in my life. The owner was super racist. He made every excuse in the world to not let me in. His primary reason is because I'm a party of 1 and since there are working girls around the area he didn't trust that I wasn't one. (I'm coming from working the auto show I look nothing like a working girl) I have on slacks for goodness sacks. Then he asked what I was really doing there. I said I live in LA and that I flew in town to work the auto show and showed my credentials. He then said he needed to see my ID then he examined it for a while then gave it back. He then said he needed to check my bag so I let him, he pulled out a bottle of champagne and said I couldn't come in with it. I said I called and spoke to him to confirm that it was still BYOB and he said yes. He said that things change depending on whom it is. Then he said there's still the issue of it being one person I told him that shouldn't matter because I'm still paying the corkage fee in its entirety and the bill by myself and nothing says I can't come alone on his site. I should have listed the the reviews when someone else mentioned they were racist but I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and it slapped me in the face. He sends me through all these hoops to make up more excuses. It gets worse my phone malfunctions, just my luck and I'm a mile from my hotel. He won't let me charge my phone there's no nearby businesses. So I can't call an Uber I sat there in the cold in front of this establishment for thirty min then my phone turns back on. My Uber app won't load at all I have to call my husband in LA to call me an Uber back to my hotel. I wasted money going to and fro and time. I just couldn't believe someone would treat any prospective customers this way due to racial bias. I thought those days were behind us but there is always people like this to remind you that humanity is obsolete for some. read more

This place is super creepy. The guy locks his door and you have to knock to get in. He said it's because he doesn't want the locals coming in...as in he doesn't want black people coming in. I stayed until later than closing time watching creed 2 with him. He also likes cooking and serving food to guests. The hookah was packed very well, and every type of flavor is available. As a hookah enthusiast I was pleasantly surprised by this lounge. The owner is very nice and knows how to pack a bowl. Seating is comfortable and the music is not loud. Definitely my favorite lounge I have ever been to. The owner uses natural coals on fruit bowls. My only recommendation for here is for them to offer more shisha brands as they only have AF. This is an absolutely excellent place. The owner runs and operates it solo. He is very attentive, respectful, and caters to what you like. There is no menu, so don't be afraid to ask questions. He keeps the door locked so he can control the crowd and make sure the place stays respectful and very relaxed, there is a doorbell high up on the right side of the door, just ring and be patient as he may be helping others.
