I am sooooo confused... We came to Seattle and I looked online for a diner or cafe in the U district to take my kids to for dinner. This had pretty good reviews so off we went. WHAT is going on here? We walked in and were SO uncomfortable! It is small and crowded, everything is dingy and in disrepair WAY more than I expected (I was thinking, you know, older diner.) The papers on the wall were fine and interesting but under the papers the walls were so dirty and peeling I kept feeling like I needed to tell my kids not to touch the walls. The booths were so old and rickety. The menus were, I kid you not, FILTHY. I am not picky... but wow. Overlooked it because the people were very nice and hoped the food would be great. It was not great. It was all quite average truck stop/greasy spoon fare. My hash browns were soft and pale, not crisp. They forgot the meat in my scramble. The biscuits/gravy were POOR. Sandwich/fries were okay. Milkshakes were about like you'd get at Jack in the box... but they were $5 each! None of us was impressed. But yes the staff is VERY nice. Would NOT go back though. read more

Amazing 12 eggs omelet! Taste good but monotonous. You need to be very very starving before go there.

Went here today for a yummy breakfast. It didn't seem too busy but it took them awhile for the waitress to come and take our order. I ordered the South Sider and it was good but the hash browns were mushy, probably due to the chili piled on top of them. My fiancé ordered the Belgian waffle and he said it was okay but the eggs weren't so great. I would be willing to try it again but he is not interested in coming back. read more

Great family restaurant, great food, great service witha fun atmosphere. prices are excellent, so is tbe help.

They have the absolute BEST bacon in the flippin world. Yes the service sucks but seriously it is worth is!!!! I only ever get breakfast food because that is what I like but I have had friends get burgers and they enjoyed them. all the drawing crack me up. It is a true Seattle icon.. long live Beth's. read more

"The service is intentionally bad," is what I've been told. I never noticed, actually. Maybe I have really low standards on things like this, but I don't think so. The food is greasy spoon style, and I LOVE that style of food! I'm glad they have stopped allowing smoking in doors now. I remember cooks making food while smoking over the grill. THAT was gross, even for my apparently low standards! Now they are a lot more sanitary and contentious of their food safety practices. The atmosphere is the best! Draw something on paper and have them hang it in the restaurant! GENIUS! Anyway, if you want a great representation of what "real Seattle" is like, this is it. Have fun and relax! Listen to some rock and roll and mess with people! They'll mess with you back! It's fun! read more

Amazing omelets, could barely finish the 6 egg one. Plus unlimited hash browns! Wonderful place for a nice breakfast dinner.

Best breakfast spot EVER!!!! Omelettes were huge and full of meats and cheeses, I had The Sampler with biscuits and gravy with UNLIMITED hash browns and eggs. It was the perfect meal and everything tasted AMAZING! My friend had the 12 egg omelette that was served on the pizza trey, talk about HUGE and amazing! He was only able to get through half of it! Only thing I didnt like was for a group of 6 we were told a 15 min wait that turned into 45 min outside in the cold, but it was more than worth it ! read more

My family and I honestly loved this place, there were a few times where the food and service wasn't that great but we thought we might just give it another shot. Wrong choice, we went during lunch time when it wasn't busy at all! The most they had was 4 tables, including our table. The server took a long time to get to us, on top of that.... Our food took almost an hour to get to our table after ordering. Not only that but out food was GREASY, cold, and soggy. It was more like grease with a side of food please. But if you decide you want to give this place a try, I suggest to go during busy hours, you'll get better service then. read more

Just stopped in to Beths for a quick bite...... got a 6 egg ham and cheese omelet, and a soda, cost $19.00. Really,....... ??? read more

Perfect breakfast for the young and wild, with big plates of greasy food and a towering milkshake it's a good late night stop.

Great food and unique environment. Unfortunately we got food poisoning. We got an omelet with bacon. I understand it happens, but I think they could clean a little better to try and prevent things like this from happening. read more

Yummy!! This was my first time here and I love it! I had the Belgian waffle and it was literally to die for, I felt so guilty because I couldn't finish it all. The servers are nice to you if you are nice to them. Seeing all the people they have to deal with being on Aurora and all, they do a kickass job. I will be back!! Oh and ask them for paper & crayons, you can hang your art on their wall. Love the creativity read more

Beth's is always spot on and yummy! The service is usually pretty good, but if you come after 9 on a weekend it'll probably be pretty crowded and definitely a lot slower. Took us 20 min to get seated and didn't get our orders down for 15 more min. They were working hard though, so I wasn't mad! The food is delicious. Try to breakfast burrito! read more

Okay let's just say that the serving were huge, prices were not bad, and service was great. Had the 6 egg triple bypass which was awesome. Lots of cheese and meat, and a whole lot of egg. read more

Disappointed...still waiting for food. Can't wait to eat breakfast tomorrow. Feel terrible that I brought friends from out of town here only to sit here for over an hour waiting for our food to show up. Not the Beth's I remember read more

Very great food! Although I had what every cafe would have. The reason it did not surpass three stars, is because of the waiting time. But thankful I was able to dine, At the same place Adam Richman once did, I could only imagine how long his order took! read more

Best food in town the triple bypass is mouth watering good it's so big I share it with my husband it's a fun place to eat at all hours of the night or day it pretty busy around 12am to 5am the wait can be around 30mins for a table but worth it for the food n the coloring lol I love eating here with friends n family thanks Beth's cafe for doing a amazing job read more

Arguably the best eatery spot in the 6. Great service, impeccable plays, & some of the best food of all time. My Greenlake people hold it down in the kitchen for real. read more

Decent. High prices, a lot of food. As with most places in Seattle, you need to ask whenever you want your water/coffee refilled. I had the Southern Exposure Omelette. Enjoyed the cheese/sour cream and the presentation, toast was good, as was Amish friendship bread. However, I got that omelette because of the chili. There were about 5 beans and a cup of picante salsa inside mine. It may be that others are good, but mine was not. read more

The food is always great! The staff is always so pleasant! My favorite dishes are biscuits and gravy, and the corned beef hash. It reminds me of a small town diner. My work schedule is different than most, so being open 24 hours is aaaaaaamazing! Two thumbs up! read more

As others have mentioned, this place is a bit small and isn't the neatest, but that's also what makes this a great little diner. Totally unpretentious with great food and service. I had the classic bacon and eggs, with hash browns and toast. Portion was large but not insurmountable. My girlfriend said her normal portion size was fine, even though she didn't finish it. One of our party had a mini breakfast and that seemed to suit her fine, so they seem to have a range of size options for everyone. My only complaint is the coffee wasn't very good. For a city known for great coffee this almost a deal breaker, but luckily everything else is so good you don't care. 4/5 because of that but I would definitely eat here again. read more

If ppl complain about the service at beths.... Its a simple miss understand of good culture... They live a lifestyle ur just choosing to expierence it... DONT. JUDGE. read more

Not sure what the big fuss is about this place. Overcrowded, dingy, and their irritable staff make me want to choose a different spot for breakfast. Yes, I get it, they have good breakfasts, but I'll skip the long wait and go somewhere else. read more

Very cozy breakfast cafe! Feel of being home and eating my mom's breakfast. Portions are enormous. Service is ok. Get ready to wait in line to be served. Sometimes up.to 40 min. Depending on the time of the day. read more

Amazing portions!!! You will not leave hungry. I ordered the bacon waffle it's awesome. Put some jam and syrup and its heavenly. Service is solid could be better, it's fine. It's nice that this place is 24/7. read more

We stopped in for late-night breakfast at around 11pm on Sunday of Memorial weekend. Wow, I was impressed--food quality was excellent. I'm from New Jersey, Beth's is about the closest thing we've found around here to the late-night diner experience. The place was busy and noisy, but servers were super-friendly and generous with coffee and water refills. We both had the "breakfast burger," beef patty with an egg, ham and cheese on top. I had the standard, my wife had hers with no bun and salad in place of potatoes--no problem making the substitutions. We'll be back! read more

I have had the pleasure of Beth's about 4 times while visiting Seattle. It rocks every time. Truly don't know how anyone has voted less than 5 stars. I always get more than I can eat to have extra for later. read more

Loved this place! Down home cafe, wish the staff would have explained the menu a bit better. The food was good and the price was right. We will be visiting again if we ever go back to Seattle for sure. read more

I grew up in the green lake area as a kid and Beth's cafe was a safe haven for my younger brothers and I. I now live in Houston Texas and every time I get a chance to visit Seattle I stoped by Beth's. Why, because back in the 70's my brothers and I would wait at Beth's cafe playing pinball waiting for my parents to finish up their drinking binge for the night right next door. You see, Beth's gave us a safe place to relax, have a great omelet and feel normal for a couple of hours before the drunken parents from next door came to collect us. We knew the cooks, wait staff, and locals that would frequent Beth's on a daily basis. Even when we didn't have any money for something to eat, the staff always made us something from the kitchen. Beth's Cafe is now something of an iconic breakfast boutique but to me and my brothers it was solace. My story might sound a bit sad, but no worries; brothers and I all grew up to be very productive in society but Beth's Cafe was a real positive in our lives, which I'll never forget. So when the hash browns aren't quite right or the staff is swamped because of the crowd, just tell yourself, this place was instrumental in helping a couple of young kids in a difficult situation make it through another day. I love this freakin place... I'm from Vegas where everything is a chain or a casino and Beth's is so refreshing. The food is awesome. and its got a really cool vibe. I like to take my niece here so she can draw pictures and tape them on the wall. read more

I think that I would have liked this place when I was in my late teens after a show at 2am. Now though I find it mediocre at best with slow service, dirty everything & lousy paper drawings on the wall. I literally waited 45 minutes for a baked potato and there's nothing cool about that. I have a feeling that in its prime, Beths was a primo spot with good food and atmosphere but it seems that those times are long gone! Sorry Beths, I won't be back. read more

Best done drunk, at 2:30 am, on a dare. Beths is a situational thing. Since I am sober, its mid afternoon, and I have not been challenged, it gets only one star. Under the perfect situation I would go 2 stars. 3 if the waitress is cute. read more

I remember coming in, being sat at a table and having to wait about 20 minutes to get acknowledged (it wasnt busy). Very rude staff with cruddy attitudes, but I'll let it slide because the food is pretty good. I'd recommend it if youre in the area, or if you wanna try to eat a big ass omelette. Otherwise I'd say go to Dennys. read more

BIG AWESOME SUPER DUPER TASTY omelet. Bacons are good... with free hash brown... nothing like it read more

Beth's is wonderful. It's a great place to come with a group of my friends, and my friends and I often drive an hour to come here in the middle of the night. It's great for people-watching, and the food is wonderful if you know what to order. The northwestern exposure is awesome; endless hash browns are always a plus. Their french toast is yummy, and so is the cinnamon roll. Their strawberry jam reminds me of my grandmother's, which I love. Fries are pretty standard. One time someone ordered a baked potato and it was yellow and disgusting. Breakfast foods seem to be the best thing to stick with here, no matter what time of day or night. Servers have always been friendly and helpful, if slow. They're nice, fun people, so talk to them! Expect a wait if you're going with a large group or during prime hours, especially on the weekend. And you won't be seated unless your whole group is present. Don't forget to draw something with the paper and crayons they give you and put it up on the wall! Everything about this place may not be perfect, but it's the perfect place for making memories and can really be the start or end of an awesome night. Or morning, or afternoon. read more

Came here on a vacation with my girl, also because of the recommendations on Yelp. I had the Pancake breakfast, it came with 3 eggs and a sausage patty. My girl had the grilled cheese, it came with tater tots. Also had the french toast. The portion sizes on everything are huge here, not just on there massive omelet. My pancake was almost bigger than my plate! The walls here are also decorated with drawings from all the customers. It had a nice, sort of local hole in the wall feel to it. Very good diner style food and atmosphere. I would definitely come back here again next time I'm in Seattle! read more

Good, large omelettes but the wait staff is rude. I knew that going in so whatever. I go to Patty's Eggnest instead and get great food with good service. read more

The spoons are greasy, but the place is fun. I'm eating a much healthier, vegetarian diet these days, so there's not much room on my personal menu for food this greasy and decadent. From time to time I'll be bad and indulge the old guilty pleasure of endless hashbrowns and a thick peanut-butter shake, but I can't come here as often as I used to. My arteries are thanking me for that, even as my tastebuds pout about it. I love the walls, decorated as they are with drawings you can make at the table. (I miss the old narwhal wall.) Wouldn't bring my grandmother here, though, or anyone particularly conservative or easily shocked. Not the cleanest place, either, so don't bring your buddy the paranoid OCD hypochondriac. read more
