This diner was Avery short walk from our hotel down the road. Parking was a bit limited and a struggle since it was raining - but that hassle was definitely worth it... the food was very good and large portions; the pancakes are huge! We came for breakfast with another couple-it was an amazing/relaxed/fun place! Service was excellent-thank you Holly! The food was amazing & not overpriced! I tried their "Power Bowl" with oatmeal, fresh blueberries & strawberries, candied pecans as well as a good portion of milk to cool off my oatmeal. The fresh fruit made the oatmeal even better! The "Meatlover" breakfast smelled amazing. My Biscuits & Gravy loving husband enjoyed his biscuits & gravy with 2 eggs on top. I had the Vanilla Latte (very good!) but no refills on it-while my breakfast mates had multiple cups of great tasting coffee. No one was pushing us out of this charming 1950s diner. For my husband's birthday, I had booked us a trip to see his family in St. Augustine. I had been doing some foodie research and came across the Beachside Diner. We decided to come here to have breakfast on his actual birthday, so I was really excited. His dad and step mom had been coming here since they moved so I knew we could trust it! There is a parking lot but it can be really packed, thankfully pops was able to find a spot. We sat outside since it was really beautiful this day, our server was Emily and she was really personable and very nice. When it came time to order I already knew since I had been stalking their website the week before, so I opted for the shrimp and crab benedict with grits, I love having grits as an option. Pops ordered the meat lovers omelet with grits, while the birthday boy Bryan, opted for the Old Timers, which had biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs and he ended up choosing a cheesy potato cake. My crab and shrimp benedict was so good, the seafood was so fresh and there was so much of it, they truly did not skimp out on that. The grits were flavorful too, but oh my god this benedict was so good and it was only $17 in San Diego that would be a good $25+, for our three meals including drinks I paid under $60, typically my brunch dates with gfs are around that much for just me. When it's 55 degrees with a 15 mph wind in St.Augustine what do you do? Well; I look for good food. As I was driving through Anastasia Island this place was packed. So naturally I stopped. I liked most everything about this place, a few things prevented this from bringing a 5 star review. I will acknowledge that in my world a 5 star review means that everything was perfect. First stop; the hostess stand, 25 minute wait at around lunchtime. We were sat in about 10, great start! Under promise over deliver. I love it. Waitstaff was friendly and able to answer questions about the menu, she recommended anything with chicken. More on this soon. This is a Diner, naturally the ambiance was a little generic, but that's just fine. It appeared clean and I loved the Christmas tree with all the foodie ornaments. So we will call it a win. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I did order it without the honey. It's a whole lot of food. The chicken was excellent, came out screaming hot, it was perfectly cooked. I loved the cornmeal it provided a hint of sweetness and it was well seasoned. An A+ on the feather front. The waffle may have been better if it was hotter. I envision the timing being the trick to getting this just right and they were screaming busy. The one critique I would give; the dish just needs one more component, The raw honey would have been too sharp a flavor contrast in my opinion. I get the honey; just not straight up. Maybe paired with another savory or smoky component (Pimenton) to take off the edge and complement the spice on the chicken. I did try one of their biscuits and it was very good. Let's talk about a few of the things that were not perfect. They sent out cold food to my dad, it happens when you're busy. It was handled perfectly by the waitstaff, we had a new one very quickly. Only 1 person can use the bathroom at a time. There was a line. Overall they did a great job, this place is an excellent value for the money and our waitress was tipped well. I would go back. I was volunteering at a political office today in St. Augustine and decided to try this place for a late lunch. It is located on A1A in St. Augustine Beach. They are open every day from 7 to 3. They serve breakfast all day, as well as lunch items. The menu has many breakfast entrees, as well as salads, sandwiches and entrees. They also have a full bar. The outside of the building looks older, but the inside is very modern with nice, bright decor. Service was quick from all staff. I ordered the reuben sandwich. It had homemade corned beef, Bavarian kraft, Swiss cheese, 100 island and spicy brown mustard on rye bread. The sandwich was a little different than a standard Reuben due to the spicy brown mustard, as well as the fact that the corned beef was shredded. The standard side was housemade chips. The portion was plentiful but a little salt on the chips would have been helpful. read more

We were staying a couple blocks from the Beachside Diner and decided to stop by for breakfast one morning... and it did not disappoint! Everyone was extremely friendly, the restaurant is spotless and so cute, and everything we ordered was delicious. It's also seemed to be a really popular place for locals. I only wish we didn't wait until the end of our visit to check it out, otherwise we would've dined there more than once. We came for the first time on Thursday. It was the best breakfast we had with wonderful service. We were so impressed that we came back the following morning. (Would have given 5 stars based on Thursday morning). However, the second morning was disappointing! We ordered the identical two breakfasts and it was not as good as the previous day. First, when we got our coffee, it was cold. They brought us two new cups that were hot and apologized. Then, the French toast came and it was barely warm and soggy in the center (uncooked) and the eggs were also on the cold side and salty. They mistakenly brought us hash browns instead of the home fries that we ordered. We let the server know when he came back to us and he did bring us the home fries, however, they were also not hot and shriveled as if they had been sitting there. On the previous morning, they were absolutely delicious ! Hot, and freshly made ! The only difference was the time we arrived on each day. On the first day, we arrived approximately 9:30 when it was very busy. The following day, we arrived approximately 45 minutes after they opened (7:45 or so) and they weren't nearly as busy! Perhaps the food was made and sitting there and because it wasn't as busy; and they probably weren't making batches of food to keep up with the customers as the previous busy morning and therefore we got what had been made instead of making it fresh to order or perhaps there was a different cook as well. Consistency is important and the food should be good despite the time of day or whether they are slower or busier. read more

This place was hopping when we arrived (1030 am on a Tuesday), and had a half hour wait. We found out the bar and high-tops by the bar are first come first serve, and snagged a high top table instead of waiting for a table. The diner is pretty cute - with a more modern diner feel (red swivel bar chairs, license plates on the wall, and other kitschy artwork). Our server came over right after we sat down with menus, took our drink order, came back with our drinks, and shortly after that, took our food order. While waiting for our food, she came back over to refresh my coffee and check in. The food did take a little longer (15-20 min) but understandable since it was so busy, I ordered the shrimp and crab Benedict with hash browns and old bay hollandaise sauce. It was delicious - with a heaping amount of crab and shrimp chopped up on top of the English muffin and underneath the perfectly poached eggs. Bob ordered an egg sandwich on a Kaiser roll, and was pleasantly surprised that there was pork roll, so had that on his sandwich (comes with two thick slices). We loved the Beachside Dinner so much that we came here twice on our vacation! When we came here on a Friday, we were seated right away but there was definitely a 30-40 minute wait on the weekend. This brunch spot is definitely worth the wait! All entrees come in a great portion, served warm and fresh. I ordered a veggie omelette with American cheese which came with potatoes and a biscuit. Stopped in for just another diner breakfast and left a changed woman due to a cappuccino. First sip, my soul left my body, the foam was so perfect, the espresso flowed through my veins and made me realize this was the best decision of my life. I have had a lot of cappuccinos from all over and dare I say this gives the Italians a run for their money. Removing 1 star because the shakes were not that good (not best flavor or consistency), the pancakes were a little bit too dry and cold when they arrive, they forgot my father in law's eggs and because we had to wait a good 40 minutes before we got served. I give them that today is January 1st and they were extremely busy. Positive: the best hash browns I've eaten in a while. They were super crispy and flavorful. I also loved my veggie eggs. My husband ordered the Spicy Chicken and Waffles and he really liked them. In general, the portions are huge. If you are not that hungry, is better to share with someone. We had stayed in St. Augustine for the weekend and were looking for a place to enjoy some breakfast before returning home. My wife discovered that Beachside Diner on the beach wasn't too far from the hotel where we had spent the night, and we weren't disappointed. Their food is phenomenal for breakfast. I couldn't get enough of the biscuits and gravy with two eggs over medium with the obvious pairing of bacon and hashbrowns casserole. Washing it all down with iced coffee, I was ready for the world like a cobra about to strike. I would highly recommend the biscuits and gravy as Beachside's is delicious. Their bacon is cooked to perfection and brought me to my eternal happy place of spiritual purity and understanding, understanding and spiritual purity. The next time we are up in the St. Augustine area, we will return here for more breakfast goodness. Read the reviews on Yelp about different restaurants and decided on this diner. It was a beautiful Sunday so we were expecting a wait. We had a 20 minute wait which was quicker than I would have thought. This restaurant was busy but well run after we were seated our waitress Holly was quick to the table and took our drink order. The restaurant decor is 50's diner but updated. We ordered the Old Timer. Our food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. It looked delicious something you get at home if you were a good cook. Everything was cooked properly and tasted great. The sausage gravy and biscuits were just what we were looking for and the fried potatoes were a nice addition. It was slow when I sat down but got busy very quickly. I guess I just beat the rush. Lol. I tried a little something new. The spicy pastrami and Italian hash was definitely spicy but so good. We went to Beachside diner for a quick brunch. Not looking for a heavy breakfast as we had dinner plans for the evening. We arrived and the parking situation was pretty tight. Honey decided to park across the street at Sunset Grille and we walked over. We were immediately seated when we arrived. We decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful breezy mid day morning. I ordered grits with cheese, scrambled eggs and side of crispy bacon. Hubby ordered the 2 Mahi-Mahi tacos with hand sliced chips. Lemonade & Apple Juice. We did have to wait for a while for our food to come out because it was soooo busy. It was worth the wait. Everything was seasoned perfectly and still hot as expected. The aesthetic of the restaurant has a cool lax vintage America vibe which definitely works by the beach. The main gripes I have is the actual quality of the food. The sauce on the eggs Benedict was too creamy which overpowered the texture and flavor of most of the meal. And the fries were not very crispy which made it a sad complement to the dish. The bageliscious felt like it had overpowering onions and peppers which prevented the ham and aioli from shining. I was really excited to get this item for the chipotle aioli, but it just didn't hit quite right. We really enjoyed our meal. we went in on a Monday morning for breakfast around 9pm, they have a pretty large indoor and outdoor seating space and we were able to be sat right away. The waitress we had was courteous and helpful. I typically am torn between decisions when trying a new place that has a lot of great options. Asked for her thoughts and make a great decision to go with the crab shrimp Benedict. My bf got the apple pie French toast... Prices were very reasonable so I was a little shocked to see the large amount of crab and shrimp they provided. And most importantly, how flavorful the meal was. I'm not much of a French toast person either but made sure to try some of my bf's and the apples were so yummy and fresh! Before getting on the road to return home, we stopped here to fortify ourselves. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. As other Yelpers have said, the place is clean and busy. I ordered Pete the Greek omelette ( minus the black olives), hash browns and toast. The coffee was just what I needed to wake up and the food was prepared perfectly. Our waitress was old school and kept our coffee levels full to the brim without my being annoying.The hash browns were excellent as was my omelette (minus the black olives). This place was the best place we ate in the St Augustine area! The place is cleaner than most diners with travel decor and great coffee drinks. We ordered the crab and shrimp eggs benedict which was amazing, and the surfer Sarah omelet with cheddar cheese instead of goat cheese. The surfer Sarah came with sides which I ordered fresh fruit and a biscuit which was huge and then added a side of sausage gravy. I will be dreaming of this delicious breakfast for years to come!
