Our last day of our St. Augustine weekend staycation, we wanted a place that had good food and quick service so we could get on the road for our 4 hour drive back home. Just 5 minutes from where we were staying we found Beachside Diner. It looked really busy but we decided to check if the wait time was reasonable. Even with all the people waiting, and all the occupied tables, in less than 10 minutes we were seated, with waters and menus in front of us. The place is decorated as an old school diner, with booth tables, the counter seating, a jukebox, art on the walls, and some outside seating too. The menu also matched the diner atmosphere, listing all the breakfast and lunch favorites, soups, salads, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, coffee and more. Something for everyone! Our server came shortly and took our order. I got a latte, that came nice and hot, and with the right amount of milk. Regular coffee comes with refills. And I got the Western Omelet. This comes with your choice of toast, muffin, or biscuit, and a side. I had mine with toast and for my sided (for I think $1 extra) got the cheesy hashbrown casserole. I also added mushrooms to my omelet. The portions are big, and my omelet came loaded with ham and veggies, and melted cheese in every single bite I took. Delicious, and great deal for the price. Stopped in to visit the beach in St. Augustine, FL and picked up lunch for the family The kids got bacon cheeseburgers and both of them gave a resounding thumbs up. The burger meat had good flavor as well. I ordered the veggie omlette and it was huge. Packed with onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheese. The biscuit was good and the fruit, fresh. We tried the cornbeef hash and it was packed with cornbeef, but was ok for me. Visited Saint Augustine for the first time and last I might add! Not friendly our server was OK at least she smiled. I ordered the pancake and a side of bacon pancake was not cooked. It was rubbery, bacon was overcooked and cold. My husband ordered the BLT again bacon way overcooked , it was so overcooked it had no flavor. The tomatoes were for lack of a better color white almost they were not ripe. I did find seems like most restaurants pre-cooked their bacon, which is fine as long as you don't overcook it to begin with. read more

We stayed right across the street and the beachside diner was on our map from the minute we got there. We stopped in for brunch and with a menu like theirs, i couldn't just order one thing. Between the two adults at the table, we ordered 4 meals while the kids each got their own Mickey Mouse pancakes. I decided to order Mikes Hangover fries which was a base of French fries covered in creamy sausage gravy, tender pulled pork and 2 fried eggs. So many flavors all combining for an amazing dish. I also ordered the chicken biscuit sandwich. Which was a huge piece of fried chicken, covered again in that sausage gravy and a fried egg all stacked between their big delicate biscuit. My wife got the meat lovers omelette which is was PACKED with ham, sausage, bacon and cheese. It came with perfectly cooked and seasoned home fries. Now for the fourth and the only dish that didn't really live up to the hype, the stuffed French toast. The picture, while it looks amazing, just doesn't hold up. It's 4 giant half slices of French toast covered in cinnamon apples. The issue we had was the French toast lacked any real flavor. It needed more cinnamon and more vanilla. It tasted like bland toast covered in these apples. The kids who loves their pancakes also got milkshakes which they loved! Beachside diner is definitely a must stop place and we will be back. Went 7 days in a row, food was great, choices were great. However after being the first to arrive at 7am, I got prompt service. The Western omelette was great but I was finished at 7:30, it took 19 minutes for my server to show up again to get a "to go" container. Yes one other party of 4 showed up at the 10 minute marker that required her to get their drinks and take their orders. She was an aberration of all servers there for 7 days but the food was great. Not being much of a fish guy, I was less than enthusiastic when the family suggested Beachside Diner for a late lunch. Honestly, it was the Four-point-Five Stars earned by the restaurant on Yelp that convinced me to give Beachside Diner a try. I am very glad I did, because the Fish and Chips were terrific. Lightly battered, fried to perfection, an enormous portion of cod fish and fries waited for me in my to go container. The plate included a side, Cole Slaw, which was very very good, and a house Tarter Sauce. Absolutely delicious. I couldn't say it is the best Fish and Chips I have ever had ... but Beachside Diner certainly places within the top three, the other two being Codmother in San Francisco, CA, and Bowpicker in Astoria, OR. We chose to order takeout, rather than risk dining inside, due to the uptick of Covid cases, so when I entered the restaurant, I could see the restaurant and restrooms were very clean, and the Staff fully masked, and spacing precautions appeared to be followed. I found the Staff very friendly, and very helpful, answering menu questions for us, taking our order, which was ready in eight minutes. Then I sat in the air-conditioned bliss of the car and feasted like a king. It is all about the experience. Five Stars. I highly recommend Beachside Diner, and would be happy to return anytime. read more

We had an excellent meal for Sunday brunch before we headed to the beach. Holly took care of us and she was absolutely wonderful. She helped us steer around some peanut , tree nut , and egg allergies and was very patients with the kids . The menu is very reasonably priced and there are literally options for everyone. It is always a hard thing to find an affordable , kid friendly, allergy friendly eatery near the island, let alone beach. We had the county fried chicken , eggs, a waffle, Mac n cheese, bacon, and the chicken tenders. Everything was great! They close early. They have spacious seating inside and a nice shaded patio. They have breakfast , lunch , and dinner options. Local craft brews on tap and just about everything for the kiddos. Have you ever eaten someplace and you are sure the food is really good, but realized that you simply selected the wrong thing on the menu? That's what happened to me at The Beachside Diner. That's the reason for 3 stars. I wish I could have given 3-1/2 stars. I had the Grillman. It was described on the menu as "a pile of home fries, peppers, onions, crumbled bacon & cheddar, topped with sausage gravy & 3 eggs. I think it is my fault because I know that I don't like potatoes very much. So, I didn't set myself up for success; this dish was very potato. It seems that they used freshly ground black pepper in the sausage gravy. I think this made the gravy very pepper-forward. Not my taste. I would also prefer more sausage in the gravy. I didn't notice much bacon in the dish and that was disappointing. The eggs were a perfect over-medium. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and says that they were probably the best she's ever had. The waffle was delicious. I knew I was in for a treat when they served genuine dairy butter. I would absolutely try this spot again when I am I the area. Absolutely hands down the best breakfast place around. The Bloody Mary with cucumber infused vodka was yummy. I had surfer Sarah's omelette and the flavor was amazing. Hubby got the cured ham and cheese hash brown casserole and he loved it. There's usually a wait but we haven't had to wait more than 15 minutes and so worth it, you can also get a drink from the counter while you wait! Service is always super friendly and on point. Our Airbnb was right near here - I hate paying for breakfast but the Airbnb gas line broke somehow. There was always a wait here but they kept the line moving fast! The stuff here was expensive, as is for most breakfast spots. $10 bucks for a yogurt bowl, $11 for a basic omelet, just a ton of money for what you got! Our daughter loved the single pancake though, which was only $5 bucks. Overall, while expensive, Beachside Diner was an okay breakfast. We didn't order anything crazy though, so maybe that would have changed our impressions. read more

Had been anticipating their opening for months now, and we're finally here. The place is packed and the service is stellar. If you're anywhere in the area, and especially at the beach, this is a must stop. It's billed as a Diner serving breakfast/brunch/lunch. But it's so much more than that. Their menu is extensive, bordering on a full dinner menu. Thinking an early dinner at the beach??? This is the place. The beer selection is great with a couple of local crafts (Dog Rose in particular is recommended), a nice wine selection, and a lot of neat looking mixed drinks. The vibe fits the beach location perfectly. It's a comfortable feel, not corporate like some on the same drag. The decor is straight out of a 50's diner with a local flare (check out the hand done mural above the jukebox to the left when you enter). There's even a little pub feel thrown in for the drinks-only crowd. And they tell me it's going to get even better. There's plenty of indoor seating (booths and very cool diner-style high tops), plus extensive outdoor seating where you can enjoy the ocean breezes and watch A1A go by. The outdoor seating is pet-friendly, so wander down with Fido. Everything is new and clean as the place was fully renovated in becoming the Diner. As I said, service was exceptional. You wouldn't know they've been open for only 3 days. We were accommodated quickly and to our liking when we entered. Alyssa had our drink order and our drinks to us in no time, and when we ordered our food, it was out just as would be expected in any place that's been doing this for years. But then, the owners have been doing this for years, so it makes sense. The group that owns the place includes the duo from the Sunset Grille (next door) plus the family that owned Viola's just down the road. Speaking of Viola's, our first dish was the Bourbon Meatball Sliders. The meatballs were clearly made by someone who knows how to make a classic, moist, spicy, tasty meatball. It's Mr. Viola's recipe I hear. Mrs. Viola adds the bourbon glaze and voila (I had to), you have perfection. Seriously, if you can judge a kitchen on a single dish the food here promises to be as good as any you'll get in the area. Parking is ample alongside and around back. In the end, I know I'll be back to try more of the food. If you heed my recommendation (as you should) and head over, tell Sarah behind the bar that Bill sent ya. read more

Great diner in St Augustine Beach! Started out with coffee in old school diner mugs. Good coffee. They kept the cup full until you asked them to stop. I had eggs, their hash browns, and toast. Lori had French toast and hash browns. The hash browns were outstanding and not just plain. They were elevated by some buttery deliciousness inside and crispy on the outside. Yum! Jae was our server and she was awesome! We highly recommend for some great comfort food! Update! We went back here for lunch a couple days later. Our lunch only adds to this glowing review. A absolutely to-die-for Reuben and Patty Melt for each of us. Huge portions. No where near able to eat it. They were out of biscuits. My shrimp & crab Benedict was below average, especially because of a hard English muffin. My companion's fish and chips didn't come with chips, the waitress was more interested in explaining why (she got two sides) than providing chips, when chips came they were potato chips (not English chips), and the waitress was again more interested in explaining why than taking it off the bill (though it got taken off without a fight). My companion's fish was nice though, as was the cole slaw, though the broccoli, my side, and the potato chips were weak. The bathroom was weak: the door didn't seem to lock.
