I like that the sandwiches come with one side - you get to pick and there's not an up charge for the 'fancier' sides. Excellent place to watch the sunset. There can be a long wait here so bring a jacket if it is cooler weather and head out on the pier while you wait for your text message to get back to the host. Beaches is a fun place to grab a bite. It's on the intercostal and has a beautiful view of the water. My go-to is the shrimp tacos with the tater tots; the mango salsa on the side in the picture is delicious and has a kick. The cocktails are pretty good too. We love Beaches Vilano! It is conveniently located, has plenty of parking and outdoor / indoor seating. Everyone is always so nice here and I appreciate that when we don't have our kids and sit at the bar outside we don't have to worry about kids being in that area as they are not allowed. Nice to have the kid free option. We've visited here solo and with friends but it's a must stop if you are spending a day on the water. We tie our boat up to their dock and walk right up to the bar for lunch on the deck. The shrimp here is to die for...it's my favorite thing on the menu (see appetizers). A word to the wise, if you order the appetizer nachos make sure you do 2 things: bring friends to share and ask for the cheese sauce on the side bc if you need to take the leftovers to go it lasts between that way (I usually add ground beef to ours) delicious!! read more

We went to the Beaches at Vilano for dinner our first night in town. Initially it looked like a great spot but we soon found the food to be not too great. All frozen and not fresh. We had the 1lb peel and eat shrimp(no flavor and slimy) , chicken nachos (frozen chicken covered in cheese sauce), and shrimp tacos (flour tortillas, 3 shrimp apiece, and some lettuce. $80! The service was ok but not the best. I would not recommend eating here as there are FAR better choices in the area but we were not aware. To compare the price, we also ate at River and Fort ($110 and incredible food/ambiance/service) and we ate at Caps on the Water ($78) which was incredible and quality food. If Beaches was sub par bar food it wouldve have been acceptable but $80 for 3 choices and no flavor was disappointing. read more

my wife and I had dinner there last night. it was our second time there. Like the first, it was wonderful. We arrived around 6 pm and were seated promptly outside with a gorgeous view of the St. Johns River. The waitress, Rylea, was professional but also quite friendly and outgoing. Our food was served hot with good portions, and without exception was very good. The Thai Chili Scallops are to die for, and the New England clam chowder and the Jambalaya might be the best we've ever had. When will I learn that most waterfront restaurants put their money and emphasis into real estate instead into the food. We showed up sunday night prime time, told 70 minute wait. Packed with tourists, can't imagine any locals dumb enough to waste money here. So we came back next day and dined early. My wife got the grilled snapper. It was covered with black greasy burned crap from an unclean grill. That was the only edible part. Her rice and beans served colder than room temperature. The beans unseasoned right out if the can. On Sunday June 16th, 2024 we arrived at Beaches at Vilano for dinner. At 4:51pm we received our text message that our table for five was ready and took our seats. As "tourists" on a ladies trip from out of state, our group has made a point to visit local restaurants during our visit to support local economy. Several minutes passed before a waiter came to our table. We placed our drink orders from the bar - one person in our party had to wait 20-25 minutes for her beer due to a "CO2 issue" - per the waiter...Dennis. At 5:59pm we still did not have our food. No drinks, water or drinks from the bar, had been refilled - and no offers were made by the waiter to refill our drinks. We had decided to leave at 6:10 if our food had not been served. At 6:03pm, 4 of our 5 orders were brought out. Two orders were missing side items, sweet potato fries, and had been replaced with another item, french fries...cold and were dripping with grease. Still, no offers by our waiter to refill drinks - Dennis walked immediately by our table over 4 times during this time frame. At one time, as Dennis passed by our table, I asked for a refill and was told to "wait a sec." We did not finish our food. We asked for the check and when they were brought to the table, Dennis placed all five bill books on the table and walked away. We paid our bills and left - with a very small tip. After we went outside, we decided to take a photo at the entrance of the Pier. While taking our photo, Dennis came outside of the restaurant and screamed "thank you" from across the parking lot and waved. The unprofessionalism by our waiter was disgusting - especially since he spent more time coming outside to be a sarcastic asshole than waiting on us while we were inside this establishment. Tips are earned and we will go above and beyond to tip over what is deserved...when the job is done correctly. We attempted to call the restaurant to speak to a Manager - leaving a message was the only option. We attempted to leave a review on Facebook - no options for this method was available either. ***** update***** We were contacted by the manager Holly. She apologized profusely for our experience. Outside seating is very good, and there was live entertainment while we were there on a Thursday night in January, which was a surprise bonus. i used to love coming here for cheap, good quality food, but i feel as though this establishment is unfortunately going downhill. the last time i came here with a friend in August 2024 it was $18.99 for grouper tacos and a $1 up charge for mahi. i remember in 2023 this same meal was about $14.99. due to these price changes, i don't think i would come back. the servers were always kind and the ambiance is amazing, but again, the price increase is just enough to make me not want to return. read more

Drinks never came. So be advised as to thinking of spending an evening watching the sunset there. We always like going to here when we are in the Vilano area and need a bite. Love, love, love the atmosphere and the vibe! Let's start there...it is located next to the pier and on the water. You have a view of not only the pier and water, but the marina, the Francis and Mary Usina Bridge and portions of Saint Augustine. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Plus, there is a bar inside and out. We have sat in all the different areas of the restaurant and I do recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice and you can get a shaded area or umbrella. Otherwise, the sun can beat down on you and/or can be a little hot at times. Plus, some of the umbrellas aren't always that great or missing. They do have a covered dining area outside as well, but you set back from the great views a little. The bar area outside is also covered. If they aren't busy you will probably need to see the hostess outside to be seated. This can be confusing if you enter through the front entrance. There is a sign there that states to see the outside hostess, but oddly enough when you come in you almost stand in front of it and don't notice it. It can take you a few minutes of waiting to wonder what the heck is going on...then you see the sign...ding, ding, ding! The service is pretty good for the most part. Sometimes it's great and other times I have to really chase someone down to get a refill or go try to get it myself. They may tell you to be seated and someone will bring it...but you may have to go try it again to get a drink. That said, everyone is always friendly and apologetic. And overall the staff is friendly and the food comes out timely. Speaking of food, it's pretty good! The portions are ample for sure. A few things I've had there have been a bit "ok" or bland, but for the most part I've always enjoyed my meal. I like their Caesar salad and the Sunset Shrimp the most. The sweet tea is pretty dang awesome too! They give a military/veteran/uniformed discount with proper ID. Thanks for that...woot! End note: Seems like every time we go there I am wiping something off the table as we sit down or after we have been seated. This most recent time was a cherry stem and a few crumbs. Normally, it's a few crumbs and/or an identifiable wet spot. It happens, I get it...but it happens too often here and I don't dig it. But hey, I'll be back and it's not enough of an issue to keep from going back! read more
