So excited that this place is now open in our neighborhood! Stopped in for lunch with a friend and had the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and chips. Half a sandwich was more than enough for lunch! They have a very limited menu, but post it online so you can know ahead of time. What is going to be on the menu if you are picky. Wonderful concept of weekly updated food menus at this neighborhood tavern & restaurant. Laid-back and dark it is inside. Service has been great on my multiple visits. As for their food, rolling the dice it's been of whether I'd come away liking or not of the preparation and taste of that evening's dishes. On this particular Caribbean theme visit, I loved the guava butter and mouthwatering coconut shrimp, yet, dissatisfying were their crumbling corn bread, hard to bite tostones, and, too sweet guava con queso kolache! I've been following Be Home Soon on Instagram since they opened and finally got a chance to stop by for dinner last week before a Dallas Stars game! Casa Linda is a bit out of the way from us but I'm happy we got to try out their weekly menu. We basically got everything off the specials board (except the guava danish and the charred fruit salad). Our favorite bites of the night were the fried coconut shrimp (so juicy and flavorful, paired with some excellent dipping sauces), the cornbread with guava butter, and the coconut collards. The beef tips were a little bit hit or miss in terms of tenderness per piece, but the flavor of the gravy was excellent and the noodles were well-cooked. The peas and rice were pretty bland (though a dunk of gravy from the noodles and/or some collard greens on top did help) and the tostones also lacked flavor without the dipping sauces. I enjoyed the sweet potato side but my husband thought it was just okay. The Air Japan cocktail I ordered was very strong and I enjoyed the lavender aroma + the fancy cherry! Inside of the place was super cozy and our server did a great job explaining the menu and getting the food out quick. Glad we came by to support local - I'd come again with other friends but not sure we'd return just the two of us unless something super intriguing pops up on the menu in the future, which honestly is likely considering how often they change it up! Be Home Soon rolls out a new menu every week with lunch consisting of two choices of sandwich and one or two soups. Seems as if they usually have at least one vegetarian lunch option. Dinner typically includes two entrees and four sides to choose from. The crazy part is that the menus vary wildly...Thai Inspired one week, Italianish another...you can check them out on Instagram. I am such a fan and so is everyone I've told about it. My mother said her NY resolution is to never miss a Be Home Soon menu. I had a full sandwich, but asked for it to be half of the pork schnitzel and half of the eggplant as I couldn't decide between the two. This is a solid choice if you are indecisive like me, or ravenously hungry. Honestly, the half sandwich is a meal in itself. So, both halves were excellent, but the eggplant was the clear winner. This place was incredible. It felt like a home. The staff was so incredible and the brunch was amazing. Our server who I believe is also the owner is someone I want to be friends with. She was so great and kind. The food was not only incredible, but it was fast too. This is also really affordable. For 4 of us with 5 entrees, 4 sides, and 2 shared entrees we each spent about $70. Mushroom patè cornbread was pretty good, but the veggie spring rolls (great crispy steel but no flavor on the substrate) and pork entree were very lacking in flavor. The pork patties were just plain bad, zero flavor... not often do I have to add salt to pork dishes but it was needed here. Great sauces but just lacking elsewhere.. If you're looking for an absolute gem of a spot with a cozy, neighborhood vibe, this is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were struck by how warm and welcoming the entire staff was--every single person was genuinely kind and attentive. I was starving, so the server graciously brought out some homemade bar snack mix to hold me over, basically saving my life, and my dining companion from my hanger. Now, onto the food--wow. The BBQ shrimp was a standout: smoky, perfectly cooked, and so much flavor. The charred broccolini with pepadew romesco was another highlight; I could seriously eat that sauce every day on everything--it was that good. The jalapeño grits had the perfect texture, creamy and just the right amount of kick. And the cornbread du jour? Hitting on all levels. All in all, a fantastic experience from start to finish. Best East Dallas dining experience in a long time. The concept is creative - menu starts on Tuesday and goes all week long. Try everything, we did and the gals next to us at the bar did the same thing. The Cajun seafood menu this week was delicious! The cocktails were on point and delicious. Decided to check out Be Home Soon, the new restaurant in Casa Linda Plaza. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. It was a little hard to see the handwritten dinner specials during dinner service cause the lights were dim and the writing on the butcher paper was hard to read from our table, but our waiter was more than happy to share the information with us and repeat as needed. It was a little on the pricier side for the plaza, but not outlandishly so. My mom and I shared an appetizer of focaccia topped with hummus () and each got an entree and a side, and I had a cocktail while she had tea. She LOVED the marinate shoshito peppers and could have ate a bowl of just those! lol The bill with service fee/tip included was at around $98. So not too bad for a nice night out. They also change up the menu weekly, so it'll be neat to see what they have in the future! read more

On busy nights there may be a little wait, however the friendly staff, charming ambiance and creative cuisine make it well worth the wait. Expect the prices to be a little higher than a regular neighbor diner, but not reaching fine dining levels. You absolutely won't have a problem with parking, because Casa Linda Plaza has plenty. This is a truly welcoming neighborhood cafe with a great atmosphere and excellent food. The menu is creative, featuring unique and homemade items, all at very reasonable prices. I'll order a fried breaded hotdog. The other items were chicken wings for the dinner menu for the night I did enjoy the lemonade. That was good. I went there because they allowed my dog to come in. I almost felt like I was not their type of customer because the waiter was kind of nonchalant. I just did not get a very welcome and feeling. WOW! This is a great new restaurant with amazing food and drinks. World class chef/owner and fantastic mixologists. We have been 4 weeks in a row for dinner and have been blown away each time. Best hummus we have ever tasted. Great entrees, sides, and desserts. Everything is house made. The menu is limited at night with two weekly specials. Check their website before you go. We had drinks (a Manhattan and a new beet-infused tequila drink they were introducing which was amazing), the kettle chips and onion dip (so good), Salisbury steak (I wasn't initially excited about ordering a Salisbury steak based on the only past experience with it being in my high school cafeteria days, but one bite in and I was floored. My mother and I went for a late lunch and the menu included a Curry Chicken Sandwich and a Roasted Vegetable Sandwich with 2 season soups. Our waitress was exceptionally sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Her service was superb. I believe her name was Kiera. First time there had the ribs, which were omg outstanding and I would definitely go back on a week when they are serving them or something similar(seriously still craving those ribs). We were really looking forward to trying this place out but we sadly didn't enjoy our meal or our experience. We both ordered their whole roasted chicken sandwich that came with a bag of Zapps chips and a pickle. No cocktails or other beverages besides water. The sandwich was difficult to bite down on without everything falling out because the focaccia was really crunchy. All I could taste was herbs and no salt or acidity. I didn't know where the herbs came from. Was it the focaccia, or the chicken, or the oregano in the mayo? The toppings weren't spread evenly either. There was supposed to be mayo on the sandwich and while my sandwich had some, my husband said he didn't get any on one of the halves. The pickle was good but neither of us finished the meal. The server came by to check on us and it was then that we expressed we didn't really enjoy the sandwich. They did offer to remake the sandwiches, or give us to-go boxes, which we all declined. After that it was immensely awkward. It seemed like they took personal offense we didn't like the meal. We sat for about 5-10 mins before our server came back and that's when we asked for the check. I think at some point they asked if we wanted to try something else but we just wanted to leave at this point. While they were getting the check another server came by to offer to-go boxes, which we again declined. As they were taking our plates they told us not to worry about our tab and that they would pay for it. Although I was relieved to not pay for a meal we barely touched, it kept me wondering what they meant by it after we left. Does the restaurant comp the meal or would it come out of the server's paycheck? I appreciate not having to pay for it but I was very confused by it all. We weren't upset, we just didn't like the food. Each sandwich was $18. With the 20% gratuity automatically added and tax we probably would've ended up paying around $45-$50. What made the whole scenario even more awkward was how close the tables were. We could hear full blown conversations from tables on either side of us between the table and the server. Sadly, we won't be returning. The whole situation was really uncomfortable. We arrived hungry and left hungry. read more
