Omg. They DO NOT make places like this hidden GEM. Not only can you get plants, flowers and fresh fruits and vegetables but they also have a restaurant with the best foods. Too top that off the make homemade pie that you can purchase whole pies or slices in the restaurant. The strawberry rhubarb is amazing. The sugar free cherry pie is delicious. The corn fritters are so good. The even have picnic tables for eating outside and a play are for kids. They serve ice cream and there's a snow ball stand. Amazing this play is one of a kind and the prices are much lower than other places. My partner and I go on a regular basis. read more

My family and I have been coming to Baugher's for years......the food is always good, not fancy, just plain tasty food, no frills. But last week I was disappointed because no one who worked at the restaurant, or in the attached produce stand, was wearing a mask, and very few customers were masked, as well. The waitresses, who carry the food plates out by hand, and, therefore, their faces are about 10 inches from the meals, are unmasked, as well as the hostess, the cashier and the employees serving ice cream at the counter. To make this even more unpleasant, the cashier, who was helping set up tables, was coughing and never once covered her mouth. Come on, guys, you can do better!! Have your employees wear masks!! ...for your customers' protection, as well as their own, and it's simply the RIGHT and the SMART thing to do. My family cannot return until this is remedied. Despite the news and many people being vaccinated, COVID is still a danger to our health, especially the elderly. Thank you. read more

Two stars because the fried chicken was hot and delicious and so were the rolls! From there our experience was below par. When I entered it was seat your self. I literally had to track down and haul two high chairs to the back of the restaurant myself while several wait staff watched me set up the table. We waited a while until we were formally greeted by the manager. Our waitress finally came to take our drink order. Two sweet teas, root beer, water, and milk. Our teas came without ice! It had melted by the time it got to our table. We ordered three fried chicken dinners. For a restaurant with an orchard, they said they didn't have fresh fruit as a side! Mashed potatoes were instant! Again a farm with instant potatoes??!! My husbands turkey burger came out cold and hard and his creamsicle was far from creamy....very runny! My son's jelly sandwich came with peanut butter, when we specifically asked no peanut butter! Making a two year old wait for his meal when everyone else was eating is no fun! We ordered ice cream for dessert and it took forever to get to our table! The ice cream was very melted once it was delivered. I feel the wait staff was poorly trained and had poor attitudes. At one point during our meal all of the waitresses were sitting down at one of the tables in the dining area. Our dining experience should have taken no more than an hour but it took close to two hours for my family. I fondly remember coming to this restaurant as a child. Disclaimer: This review is strictly a review of the restaurant. I love coming to the market, especially in the fall for the local apples and pie! When I came here last fall (November 2018), I brought a few of my family friends visiting from out of the country. We all perused the market prior to dining for lunch, and they were in awe of the abundance of local squash. Once we got into the restaurant for lunch, it looked like a decent crowd of locals who would normally patron this restaurant. The server we had must have been new, because a few questions we asked her she was not sure of. We all ordered the lunch half sandwich and soup. My family were all perplexed as to why there was no squash soup on the menu (go outside to the market and there was nothing but an abundance of squash), and instead there were other options that did not seem to be season appropriate. Additionally, we received our soups and half sandwiches separately, even though the plate had the space for both. I am ok with the fact that there was no squash soup, but the food was just ok at best. When I was younger, I recall it being better. We all passed on dessert as we just wanted to leave at that point, since the service was just ok and did not want to be there any longer. I will definitely give this place another try, as it could have been an off day, because the pies here are amazing. read more

We both ordered the turkey and dressing special with deviled eggs, green beans and added apple fritters. The turkey and dressing you get to choose between white meat, dark meat or mix. All the food was exceptional county cooked food. The green beans had ham in them. The apple fritters tasted like little pockets of friend apples. The waitress was friendly and very attentive. Baugher's is a great family style restaurant. The wait staff is so sweet and those that work in the little shop connected to the restaurant are equally as helpful and sweet. The food is good and fair on price. The only real complaint I have is that some of the fruits and vegetables sold there are not grown there but is made to seem like they are via advertising. Also, I've noticed the more I've gone lately the fruits and vegetables they do have have a few rotten ones in the display and I believe someone that works there could do a better job picking out the rotten stuff. Ordered the cream chip beef breakfast. the portion was large however it was mostly this weird discolored gravy with very little meat. It wasn't a bad taste but basically I had biscuits with a lot of gravy on top with very little meat. Service was nice and friendly. They do not take American Express so I will not return I can easily expense business expenses with my American Express. read more

Server for our section stood at the counter chatting with a man while looking as us waiting. Another table came in and sat down behind us, she's still chatting. Finally, she takes the orders from 3 tables and then puts the orders in. Then she goes in a frenzy asking everyone else to get drinks, etc. There are only 4 tables in her section. The drinks overflowed and they didn't bother to wipe them. Our glasses were wet and sticky. She got our order wrong, never asked if we wanted more to drink or anything else for that matter. This unfortunately has been our experience the last few times. I think some serious trading is in order. Perhaps Chick Fil A could give them some pointers on customer service. read more

Went here for the first time a week ago, had a tall blonde waitress serve my wife and I. First thing that put me off was this horrible neck tattoo, gave me a feeling of true lack of professionalism in the restaurant. She didn't make it any better for herself when she constantly harassed me with inappropriate jokes. Even my wife tried to say something to stop the appalling conversation unfolding, but it didn't stop her from continuing. Thank god the food was delicious enough for me to come back, but I will make sure to request any waitress but her next time. Management was kind and checked on us along with another waitress to make sure we actually got everything we ordered, which leads me to believe that the waitress I had wasn't new to poor job performance. We go to Baughers for breakfast several times per week, Connie and Lynda are fantastic, they always treat us great and they are a lot of fun, even when they're very busy. The food is always fantastic...... this is during the day...... night shift, it's a different story. The food is always great but the service is inconsistent at best, getting drink refills is nearly impossible and if you need anything after your food is brought to the table, you're out of luck. The worst part is that the General Manager for the restaurant typically works at night, he sits by the cash register and gawks at the young waitresses, it's painfully obvious and it's very disturbing, especially since he is their supervisor. We have pretty much stopped going there for dinner, between the poor service and the lack of any real management it's just to frustrating and the managers demeanor is out of line. If I was reviewing the day shift, there would be 5 stars, if I was reviewing the night shift there would be 1 star so I settled at 3 stars. read more

We were attending a local event and visited this place afterwards for late Sunday afternoon eats. It was not located on the downtown main street but still very close by. Comfort food on the menu included burgers, turkey with gravy, homemade fries, pies and milkshakes. The Retro Special included a cheeseburger, french fries and a delicious milkshake was a classic combo at $10. Was disappointed they ran out of blueberry AND peach crumb pie, but then there was the attached farm market that had the pie I wanted! So you can eat then shop for fresh, local fruits, vegetables, honey, jams and ice cream right next door. Kinda reminds me of Cracker Barrel but with a local, non-chain feeling. I would come back and check out their farm market again and orchards too! read more

I stopped in for lunch this past weekend, on a visit to Westminster, MD. They have a great menu of old school diner fare. I had the Baugher Burger with onion rings and their homemade sweet apple cider. Since they have an apple orchard, the cider is a must. Absolutely great. They have a farm market outside, and also an indoor market mostly for their apples, vegetables, and baked goods. Friendly staff and very affordable. Don't miss this place. read more

My boyfriend and I love going here mainly for the old timey atmosphere and the little market. I'm not really a fan of the food, it's all just reheated stuff, not very fresh, but the pies and ice cream are good. The only issue is they heat them up on a plate that absorbs heat in the microwave, so the pies are never hot or warm: they're usually pretty cold...which kinda ruins them. Maybe just try to do takeout for those so you can properly heat it yourself? Haven't really had a bad experience with the service, though. read more

I was so disappointed in Baugher's Country Restaurant after being wowed by their PYO Orchard! I would have been ok with country decor, but this place was just dirty and uncared for. Plus, the air conditioning was nonexistent on a hot day, after we came to cool off after apple picking and enjoy some country cooking. When we got there, the lack of organization was a direct 180 from the orchard. The lady seating people had no list and seemingly no idea of what tables were available. Their ability to manage large groups of people was lacking, to say the least. I had the roast beef, which was ok, but all I got was a small amount of roast beef on thick white bread (not what I asked for) with a huge side of brown gravy. And there was nothing country nor healthy on the children's menu. Honestly, growing up in the Midwest, I was so excited to try this place. I even convinced our friends to try it with us. When we got there, I was so embarrassed that all I could do was avoid saying anything. To the owners of Baugher's, you really need to up your game. Country cooking does not need to mean ugly and unclean restaurant, disorganized management or poor food preparation. Please consider this a challenge to do better. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a wide variety of home-style country dishes. Since I'm the only one in my household who eats turkey, gravy, and stuffing, I go there to get my gobbler fix. My son loves their corn fritters, and their apple fritters. And you can get Baugher's cider with your meal with unlimited free refills. Their ice cream is pretty good, and so are their pies, so save room for dessert! read more

Okay, fellow Yelpers. I'll meet you in the middle on this one. Baugher's is not a gourmet establishment, but neither is it a dive. It's an experience full of local color, and what you get out of it may depend on your attitude going in. Fivers, sorry, but the only spectacular part of the menu is the fruit desserts. Berry pie, pumpkin ice cream, apple fritters: all excellent. The fact is, when the restaurant is also a pick-your-own farm, the quality is bound to be high. And it is! My husband dreams about their black raspberry sundaes. One-ers, come on, the food isn't terrible. Their fried chicken is made to order and wonderfully crispy, though it could stand a little more spice. Breakfasts are also great: corned beef hash, omelets and biscuits are stick-to-your-ribs comfort food. Yes, I would stay away from the vegetables. It's a diner. Prices are great: last time we went, four of us split two four-piece chicken dinners and got a scoop of ice cream for dessert, for a total tab of less than $30. Atmosphere is decidedly dineresque, but I won't tolerate any snide remarks about the staff. They've always been friendly, courteous and cheerful, even when confronted by wailing children and doddering elders who ask for everything to be repeated three times. Know the place before you go (this is what Yelp is for, remember?!) and you won't be disappointed. Bonus: the fresh farmer's market adjacent to the restaurant has lots of great finds, from canning supplies to Christmas trees in season. We ordered the reuben sandwich w/ fries and gravy on the side. Kids Meals: Pizza and mac and cheese, Chicken Fingers w/ fries, and cheese burger w/ fries. All the food was basic-good. Exactly what I expect from a family restaurant like this. What was GREAT was the homemade sweet apple cider. I am a big fan now :) The booths were small but hey, we're a big family now so maybe a lot of places are going to feel small now. :) I hear they have amazing homemade ice cream. We'll have to try that later. Our waitress was a bit clueless but really fun. I liked her & she definitely was attentive. The restaurant seems to not really have anything to do with the farm. When I called ahead to get info about the farm you would have thought i called Giant asking about Sam's Club. And then when i asked the waitress about how to get to the farm and the tractor pull, she was like oh i'm not too sure where it is; i haven't been there in years. hmmmm. Overall the experience here was nice. As an African American, we got a lot of stares, but that was mainly from the patrons. We had good service. read more

The only people who would appreciate this "menu" are those 60 and older, because it will likely remind them of the "good ol fifties" when "food" was not fresh or flavored, but processed, out of a can or fried and bland. I had lunch there today, and I usually eat there about once a month. I live in Norfolk but travel to Gettysburg once a month, and I stop there on my way home. I have been going to Baugher's since I was a kid and my grandparents took me. I love this place. I'm not sure I would use the word "dive" as a descriptor, though. It's a country restaurant, and it's not fancy. However, the staff is extremely friendly, the food is good, and the prices are low. No, the food is not complex nor elegantly presented, but that's not their style. I have never had any problems with the cleanliness of the place. They have a rotating list of vegetable sides, most of which are not fresh and many of which are not usually available at typical chain restaurants. They have a separate dessert menu and a large selection of pies, which is what you'd expect from a place like this. The farm market next door to the restaurant offers a seasonal selection of fruits and vegetables. For some reason, prices there vary from inexpensive to overpriced. Some of the fruit is obtained from outside sources, but Baugher's operates its own orchards, so much of the fruit is fresh from there. As with most stores, you can find bargains - or you can needlessly overspend. The place is great for families (they have an ice cream counter at the front), and there are a lot of regulars. The clientele is a mix of locals (farmers, DC workers, retired folks, etc.) and tourists. Regardless, I have always had a pleasant, welcoming experience at Baugher's. read more

The food's marginally good, they have a pretty tasty selection of fruit pies, a cool little farmer's market, and it's a real slice of Westminster life. The cons? Cramped seating, kinda dingy dining room. The families with kids set leaves behind a mess that doesn't get cleaned up quickly. Not a bad place, not a great place. Good if you want an old-school open-face turkey sandwich with gravy and a slice of pretty good apple pie. The fried chicken's not bad, either, but not the ecstatic experience that some would make it out to be. Used to come here every Sunday morning with the kids. Timmy loved the hotcakes and begged to go every single weekend. Cammie and Elizabeth would always want to stop here after their early morning soccer games. That all changed. We went in one Sunday morning and got waited on by a waitress named Sandy. She had a nice disposition, but our food took twice as long to make, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the kitchens fault. Every time I looked over she was making eyes and flirting with who I presume to be the manager. I tried waving her over to ask about the food, making her stop speaking to the man at the register, and she acted like I was nothing but a nuisance. I found it quite coincidental that as soon as she came back over and was snapped out of her daydream, our food was ready. Came to Westminster to take the kids to the pumpkin patch and then came here, the lunch was great not too big, delicious and homey. Not to mention, they have a market right outside! Fresh squash, tomatoes and much more. The pumpkin patch is three miles past this place, go there first and then come here for a great meal. Best place for a low-price homestyle meal in the Westminster area. It's packed during prime meal times but service is always very quick. They serve Pepsi products. Would highly recommend the hot turkey sandwich, apple fritters, mac and cheese. The Sunday night turkey dinner is also a solid meal with a side salad, rolls, and 2 sides for less than $10.
