If you want a "just average" eating experience you should skip Rock Salt. It was fantastic. But, get there early, make a reservation, or be prepared to wait. My brother and I wanted something for lunch after going to a car swap meet. We landed on Rock Salt Grille. I'd eaten there several times before. We arrived at 11:45 AM (Saturday) and there was a 30 minute wait, so we grabbed two comfortable seats at the bar. A good call. I had the Rock Salt Oysters, broiled with bacon and parmigiana. Delightful. I also had the cream of, and Maryland crab, soup combination. My brother had the crab cake sandwich. I'd had it before, but wanted the oysters. His crab cake sandwich was double the size of any I'd ever seen, without exaggeration. He guessed it was 8 ounces or more, without exaggeration, with no visible filler, (Broiled). I had a few beers and we split the Bread pudding with Grand Marnier sauce. It was enough for four. The bar and food service was spectacular with "tag teaming" to make sure we didn't wait for anything. I'd like to thank the bartenders who served us perfectly: Kelsey and Nikkea. Award winners. Okay ... This place used to be a great spot. But ... it's really went the wrong way in a hurry. I'm guessing from the strain of buying out the original owner. The signature dish was and perhaps still is the Seafood club. Which for this who don't know is a club sandwich with a small crab cake, scoop of shrimp salad on a BLT. It use to cost somewhere around $25 and was a pretty good option at that price. Yesterday when I visited the prices were all inflated $40 for the same sandwich. I mean seriously ... didn't order it. Won't order it. What a ripoff ... Anyway we had the potato skins which were pretty traditional... cheese, bacon, scallions. Except rather than sour cream they offered some other sauce they call Rock Salt Sauce. I asked what it was and the bartender told me it was kind of like BBQ sauce. I passed on that and got the sour cream. They were perfectly acceptable as an app for the price. They did deliver a side cup of that sauce and it was terrible. It tasted like someone poured ketchup, Worcestershire, honey and some other stuff in a bowl for laughs. Another option that was shocking was steamed shrimp. $16 for half a pound or $32 per pound. C'mon ... Shrimp are inexpensive $10 or so a pound for some really nice size shrimp. Why don't you just serve them with a side of vasoline? For dinner I got the House burger. It's supposed to be a 1/2 pound burger with bacon, onion ring, cheddar cheese, and more of that special house sauce. I asked her to give me the burger, cheese, bacon , onion, and mayo. With NO RockSalt sauce. The male bartender said that it might come anyway because the kitchen guys do whatever they want. I had the fries with it. What I got was a 1/4 lb burger tops, I mean 4 bites tops. What's worse is it came with lettuce, tomato, on it beyond the stuff I ordered. Further they included a cup of the dreaded sauce and it had spilled and saturated about a 3rd of my French fries. The barmaid knew I was frustrated over it and helped with some bar napkins . My wife got the Salmon sandwich. It came with what seemed like 4-5 slices of bacon while my burger had 1 slice made into an X on top of the cheese. Anyway ... she said hers was okay. To the owner here Is my 2 cents. The pricing really is outrageous. And instruct the kitchen to follow the instructions and if the customer doesn't want the dam Rock Salt sauce then don't put it on the plate. Wastes product that isn't going to be consumed and only bad things can happen with it on the way to the table. I honestly don't see any reason to go back. Decent seafood. We visited RockSalt Grille on a Saturday night, and it was packed. There is a large television behind the bar for watching sports and two sizable outdoor dining spaces. Tables are covered with dark tablecloths and electric lanterns. I tried the douggy to drink, we split the seafood wontons, seafood tots, fried green tomatoes, and rockfish bites, and I had the salmon blt with boardwalk fries as a main. The douggy was simple but had a pleasant flavor. The seafood wontons and seafood tots were both excellent with lovely cheesy flavors in each. The fried green tomatoes and rockfish bites were okay, but I would order neither dish again. The salmon blt had a great bun, but the salmon was dry and overcooked. They do not take online reservations but do accept them via phone for parties of 6. You'll receive confirmation via text. The menu is a seafood lover's dream. Make sure you scan it before you visit. Otherwise it will prove impossible to choose just one entree. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees. I ordered old bay friend green tomatoes, which were topped with cherry tomatoes and jumbo lump crab meat. When I tell you this was the best bite I've had this year, I mean it. WOW!! Incredible flavor, crunch, the tomatoes weren't cut too thin or thick, and the crab pushed it over the top. For my entree, I ordered steak and cake. The serving sizes are huge so don't even try to finish - just ask for a to-go tray at the onset. The steak wasn't seasoned very well, but a little steak sauce helped. Not sure I would order it again but I did come for the seafood, which did not disappoint. The 10 oz jumbo lump crab cake will last you for a couple meals. A dash of old bay would have make it a perfect 10. I was given the flourless chocolate cake for my birthday treat. Nothing spectacular but the plating was pretty and appreciated. The restaurant was modest in decoration and has a nice size bar, and an outdoor patio with a bar. Had a great dinner at RockSalt Grille with my family, and it definitely lived up to the buzz! We started off with complimentary rolls that were warm, fluffy, and honestly on the same level as Texas Roadhouse -- seriously, so good. The calamari was another standout -- perfectly cooked with just the right crisp. I tried the rockfish bites, which weren't my favorite, but my dad absolutely loved them. Same with the cream of crab soup -- it wasn't for me, but that's just my personal taste. On the other hand, the Caesar salad with anchovy Caesar dressing was excellent -- fresh, crisp, and flavorful. My parents both ordered the burgers, and they were cooked perfectly to order. I went with the stuffed rockfish, and I'm still thinking about it! The indoor bar area is small but nice. The food is great from the seafood to the steaks. The raw bar if always fresh and the salads are amazing. The menu can be pricey but well worth it. They legit served me a burger with a ramekin of French onion soup as a dipping sauce. I just about smacked myself for never thinking of this genius activity. I ordered the Rocksalt Burger. I could not discern the Rocksalt sauce. The cheese was rubbery and had a somewhat elastic texture. The burger was cooked as ordered and was a generous portion. The accompanying loaded potato salad arrived at room temperature and I was concerned that it was not chilled. I did not eat it. We ordered a margarita with mango and unfortunately sent it back. It tasted as if it was from a mix and we could not taste any trace of mango. A minor point, the bread served appeared to come from a package of cheap white bread dinner rolls from a grocery food.We will not return. read more

On 11.09.25 (Sunday), dined in and arrived @ 6:15 pm. The restaurant was almost at capacity. There were four of us and we were seated immediately in the back. Two of us ordered the stuffed rockfish which both said was delicious and there were no problems with the dish. Did have a problem with a photo so that is why you don't see one below. The old bay wings were cooked perfectly. The dressing was extremely good and the celery was the best I have ever had. It was light and crispy. I normally don't eat celery, but this was incredible. I was impressed. The double crab cake dinner was perfect, along with the green beans and baked potato. The lobster and filet mignon were cooked well and to order. The accompanying green beans and baked potato were also perfect. The waiter was prompt, polite and accommodating. We were checked on by the hostess, and the general manager was seen monitoring the restaurant. The ambiance was excellent. The restaurant was noisy, but this is to be expected since the restaurant was almost at capacity. I only saw one table for two that was empty. All I can say is WOW. What a first impression. We always go to our go to Pappas but decided to go somewhere new. RockSalt not really sounds appetizing but checked online looked good. So we show up and there was a waiting list of 45 mins. Decided to wait it out which turned out to be only 25 minutes. Very nice Ambiance cozy. Ordered our drinks and appetizers. Cream of crab yummy. This was my fourth time dining here in the last 12 months. This restaurant never disappoints. My wife and I met two friends from Rhode Island here Monday for a reunion luncheon visit. The Calamari portion was generous and delicious. Enough for all four of us for an appetizer. I also ordered a half dozen oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. The portions are very large, which makes it difficult to have room for a dessert. So we all shared a piece of Keylime pie with four forks... It was very good. The service by our waiter was very efficient and prompt. This is a very popular restaurant and even on a Monday it soon filled up for lunch. There was a festival going on so street parking was a little tight they also have a lot for parking up the street. I had the special of the day which was the salmon with mango salsa and Brussels sprouts and green beans. The green beans lacked favor but, I was able to take care of that when I got home. Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 with dollar off beer choices, and a few appetizerselections. Raw oysters and old bay seasoned french fries were the choice of the group. Yeah I know, they don't exactly go together, but it's not like we were eating them together. I tried one of the raw oysters and though I am no connoisseur, it was pretty good. Everyone else really enjoyed them. The old bay season french fries had cheese melted on top. These too were pretty good. You have a lot of seafood choices as well as non-seafood choices so for me it was the Seafood club. Huge sandwich which I could not finish, but it was outstanding. It comes with lump crab, shrimp, tomato, lettuce, and seasoning with your choice of breads. Wheat bread for me. It also comes with a choice of sides so I selected the coleslaw and it was fabulous. For Starters the fried green tomatoes were the perfect. A true southern dish, they were fried to perfection and were topped of with limp crab and a great remoulade. The crab pretzel was delish as well as the rockfish! Our entrees were Steak and cake, salmon and braised short ribs. The braised short rib was my absolute favorite! Tender and juicy pact full of flavor! We also had cocktails, including the lemon drop 10/10, the blueberry bourbon and the house cocktail which included peach snaps! Our service was wonderful! The ambiance was fun and perfect for a family night out or a birthday celebration. Which was our reason for the outing. I found this place on Yelp. Would you believe this is the only place with high ratings in this area? 100% earned, and now, I fully understand why.
