Rock Salt has been on my list for a couple years, but it was always hard to get a table when I wanted one (holidays, usually). We called ahead and reserved a table of 8 for my birthday. They do not take online reservations but do accept them via phone for parties of 6. You'll receive confirmation via text. The menu is a seafood lover's dream. Make sure you scan it before you visit. Otherwise it will prove impossible to choose just one entree. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees. I ordered old bay friend green tomatoes, which were topped with cherry tomatoes and jumbo lump crab meat. When I tell you this was the best bite I've had this year, I mean it. WOW!! Incredible flavor, crunch, the tomatoes weren't cut too thin or thick, and the crab pushed it over the top. For my entree, I ordered steak and cake. The serving sizes are huge so don't even try to finish - just ask for a to-go tray at the onset. The steak wasn't seasoned very well, but a little steak sauce helped. Not sure I would order it again but I did come for the seafood, which did not disappoint. The 10 oz jumbo lump crab cake will last you for a couple meals. A dash of old bay would have make it a perfect 10. I was given the flourless chocolate cake for my birthday treat. Nothing spectacular but the plating was pretty and appreciated. The restaurant was modest in decoration and has a nice size bar, and an outdoor patio with a bar. While this place is 25 minutes away, I do plan to return...alone...to eat the fried green tomatoes...in my car. So good! 8.5/10

Recently celebrated my dad's birthday at Rocksalt. The food was delicious! Most of us enjoyed the crabcake platter. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was decorated nicely for the holidays. At the end of the meal they brought out a complimentary piece of Italian lemon creme cake which was really yummy!

We've been here a few times and have always gotten the Best service. The place has different sections (indoor and outdoor). Known for their orange crushes drink from the rear outdoor bar. The indoor bar area is small but nice. The food is great from the seafood to the steaks. The raw bar if always fresh and the salads are amazing. The menu can be pricey but well worth it. Definitely a nice place for a date or a family celebration. Our favorite restaurant in Westminster.

On 11.09.25 (Sunday), dined in and arrived @ 6:15 pm. The restaurant was almost at capacity. There were four of us and we were seated immediately in the back. Two of us ordered the stuffed rockfish which both said was delicious and there were no problems with the dish. Did have a problem with a photo so that is why you don't see one below. The old bay wings were cooked perfectly. The dressing was extremely good and the celery was the best I have ever had. It was light and crispy. I normally don't eat celery, but this was incredible. I was impressed. The double crab cake dinner was perfect, along with the green beans and baked potato. The lobster and filet mignon were cooked well and to order. The accompanying green beans and baked potato were also perfect. The waiter was prompt, polite and accommodating. We were checked on by the hostess, and the general manager was seen monitoring the restaurant. The ambiance was excellent. The restaurant was noisy, but this is to be expected since the restaurant was almost at capacity. I only saw one table for two that was empty. When we left an hour later, we were the only guests left in the back dining room. The rest of the restaurant was at or near capacity.

Food was great. Drinks are way overpriced including the wine. Would have given it a 5 if not for that.

My 75 year old hubby still is a little boy at heart - this generous surprise pleased him dearly - and it shows!

Today is my husband's birthday. We just played 18 holes on a beautiful Maryland golf course and I wanted to find a restaurant that featured Maryland crab - nailed it!!! Monica was our server. She told us "Maryland has the sweetest crab and the best crab cakes - and we make the best crab cakes in Maryland!" Husband had the Cream of Crab soup - a chunk of crab in every bite! And the crab cake "lunch" plate which was one huge crab cake (ALL crab - didn't have, didn't need any stuffing!) along with their fabulous cranberry coleslaw and perfectly cooked green beans. I enjoyed some of his soup and bites of the crab cake and a yummy bowl of mussels. We were stuffed and very happy and then Monica brought him a beautiful, delicious Italian lemon, mascarpone cream birthday cake - OMG!!

Service was very good. Kitchen needs to season the meals. Tuna looked great but was devoid of any flavor. No soy sauce and the seaweed tasted like wood (it had oxidized). Sauce that did come with it was too sweet and a bit sticky. Quality wasn't the best but passable. Burgers too need even some simple salt and pepper at the very least. Crab omelette was decent. Home fries should have stayed in the kitchen.

All I can say is WOW. What a first impression. We always go to our go to Pappas but decided to go somewhere new. RockSalt not really sounds appetizing but checked online looked good. So we show up and there was a waiting list of 45 mins. Decided to wait it out which turned out to be only 25 minutes. Very nice Ambiance cozy. Ordered our drinks and appetizers. Cream of crab yummy. Rock fish bites were so good. Then crab dip very good. Main course I ordered the Steak and the 10oz crab cake with slaw OMG . Worth the wait and drive. Highly recommend

This was my fourth time dining here in the last 12 months. This restaurant never disappoints. My wife and I met two friends from Rhode Island here Monday for a reunion luncheon visit. The Calamari portion was generous and delicious. Enough for all four of us for an appetizer. I also ordered a half dozen oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. They were the Sand Dunes oysters from Prince Edward Island...... and they were fresh and delicious. This restaurant has an incredible raw bar oyster list see photos. One of us had the crab imperial luncheon plate. and said it was delicious. Three of us had a luncheon special of blackened grouper with shrimp and that was also outstanding. The portions are very large, which makes it difficult to have room for a dessert. So we all shared a piece of Keylime pie with four forks... It was very good. The service by our waiter was very efficient and prompt. This is a very popular restaurant and even on a Monday it soon filled up for lunch. If you want to avoid the luncheon wait make sure you arrive by 11:45 AM. Rocksalt grill has turned out to be my restaurant of choice when dining in Westminster, Maryland

This restaurant was selected by a family member for our Father's Day gathering for dinner. I had never heard of the restaurant so I was excited to try something new. There was a festival going on so street parking was a little tight they also have a lot for parking up the street. We were served by G which he was on point and very attentive for handling a party of 12. The food was so fresh and really good. I had the special of the day which was the salmon with mango salsa and Brussels sprouts and green beans. The green beans lacked favor but, I was able to take care of that when I got home. I was impressed that management was very attentive to the guest while walking around to greet and speak to the guests. Overall, I will definitely return as the food and service combined was excellent.

Outside, parking just to the right of the building!

Visiting from the West Coast, and this has got to be the best meal of the trip, and best crab cake I've ever had! We drove an hour up to this hidden gem based on reviews, and it did NOT disappoint. Our group sampled the rockfish, seafood Mac and cheese, and the award-winning CRAB CAKES. You cannot go wrong with any of these options! The food was well worth the wait. A very big shout out to our waitress Monica, who has the greatest hospitality we may have ever experienced. The staff as a whole was so welcoming and entertained all of our questions. The restaurant has a great ambiance, with the back dining room feeling elevated but still warm and family friendly. I could not recommend this establishment any more than: YOU. MUST. GO.

    Cheesy crab dip.
    Denise W.

Rock Salt continues to never disappoint. Celebrated an early anniversary dinner with the soft carb entree. Plump, crunchy and delicious crabs cooked perfectly. Cheesy crab dip was our starter. Rich and topped with lots of gooey cheese. And to finish off, peach cheesecake made in house. It was a "wow!" Service was great. Our favorite place to get Maryland style seafood!

As we were being led to our table I noticed many empty tables and 4 empty booths. I asked if we could get a booth rather than the table but she said no as they were reserved..okay. We had MD crab, cream of crab, and scallops wrapped in bacon for appetizer. All excellent! My soft crab sandwich and side of onion rings all cooked to perfection. My friends had shrimp and grits and stuffed rockfish, both meals exquisite. For dessert lemon tart and the chocolate peanut butter cake. Yum, the only thing that could have made that better was a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Kudos for using a local company for their desserts, Bertuccos Bakery and giving them credit on the menu. Love it, supporting other Carroll County businesses. To top of the entire evening we had Blake as our server, the absolute % best. From the introduction, use of beverage napkins under our drinks, clearing of dirty dishes, and to the dry humor he engaged us with us throughout the evening. Thank you! In today's society many servers are handing me my bill before I even finish my meal and dont bother to clear away dirty dishes. What a pleasant evening out with friends with great food and quality service. We left by 530pm and the entire time we were there, at least 3 booths and a couple of tables were consistently vacant. Your hostesses need to work a little better at seating people without long wait times. The couple behind us were told a 45 minute wait. This is not our first time at Maryland Mallet and have been turned away at 4pm on a Saturday before due to no seating available because of reservations. Growing up in the hospitality industry, I would say that you may be losing some potential revenue. Just a thought! Kudos to Blake and your kitchen staff!

During our visit we heard several birthday cheers, noticed a retirement gathering and for us it was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. To our surprise, the restaurant created a special dining menu noting our last name and our celebration. I was taken back with that gesture and acknowledgment although it's a testament to the service and care you will experience. This venue and team do the little thing right and will exceed expectations! Regarding the service, it was second to none with multiple staff and waiters at your side. The Smokehouse offers several dining options and host large parties and even weddings. The restaurant is huge and in associated with the historic Atrium 1844 hotel and property nestled on about 25acres. To the food: There are a few options to order from the menu and if you like wine pairing this is the spot. I chose the pairing option for my duck appetizer, scallop dinner and desert although didn't opt for champagne that complemented the surprise chef offering or my dinner salad. My wife had the beet salad, cod entree, dinner salad and orange cake. Every dish was incredibly prepared with no complaints. I envision the kitchen being hustled like the Netflix series, BEAR with echos of, "yes Chef". This was truly a special dining and something I strongly recommend if it's in your budget. The ambiance of the old early American estate is breathtaking and the piano puts you in a calm for the evening of wonderful indulgence. Again, and my opinion reserve this venue for a special affair. Total bill was $270 minus tip. Sounds crazy but if you have the time and wish to create a special touch to a special occasion, the Smokehouse is a sound choice. Note: reservations were 7:15 and we walked out at 9:45. Might want to consider staying at the Atrium at this point.
