Our first visit to the Lost Lion definitely won't be our last. Braydn was our server, and her service was exceptional. Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We love this lil spot! We tried it as a date night spot last year and want to come back. It's cute and divey! Great cocktails and staff. We came to try the food and we were not disappointed. It is small but they also have outdoor seating for when the weather is good. We tried their jalapeño popper shrimp toast, which was absolutely devine, a must! We also tried their korean bbq wings, which were good but it was the sweet chili sauce so not korean bbq flavor, lol. If ever stopping by I'd definitely check this place out! read more

The food was fine so I can't really say anything about that, but I was VERY surprised that soft drinks, especially club soda are priced PER GLASS. Every other restaurant always does free refills and especially for club soda so I was very surprised when I had only club soda but refilled it a couple times and I had a double digit bill for drinks. That's fine if it's their policy, but they need to really make it clearly known because that's not the norm and I never would have thought to ask since it's so unusual. read more

So I'm honestly not a fan. We visited place when they opened. I order a burger and asked for a pretty simple plate. MW with mayo, cheese, and raw onions. The waitress came back and said the cook ... owner doesn't customize food and you have to get it the way he has it on the menu (which to me says ... the way he likes it) We left after eating ... the food was okay I guess. If that's what you enjoy, there is a 'Chuck E Kings' far enough away so that those of us who appreciate quality outings don't have to tolerate mediocrity slogans and germ-infested haflings. - the vibe. This review includes observations from probably a dozen visits since LL opened near us. There aren't enough independent restaurants around, so we keep coming back and hoping for the best -- at their best, they are wonderful, but it's a bit of a gamble. The food has always been amazing; service is inconsistent and management's policies are a little puzzling. Their menu leans heavily on fried food, and it's quite good -- crispy and inferno-hot when it comes out. I usually leave fries behind but not here, especially with their housemade dipping sauces. The smash burger is excellent, and they treat seafood very well. Desserts are likewise outstanding and I like that there's just a couple of choices. I do wish there were more healthy options; the menu is small and changes frequently, so you might luck out and find a salad, but most of it is tacos / handhelds / crispy appetizers. Cocktails are generally unimpressive -- I won't say overpriced because they are expensive everywhere! But they're not very strong or interesting. We rarely get water without asking several times; I've never been able to figure this out. Likewise, about half the servers are super nice and fun, and the other half act like they're doing you a favor by bringing your food to the table. It varies a lot from visit to visit. I'm not sure why, but every table in the place is a high top except for one -- I know because we have a toddler and that's the only table where we can sit together, right by the door. They used to have booths but removed them. No high chairs or boosters available either. They won't customize anything, not even to serve a drizzle sauce on the side, which is unfortunate because, like most toddlers, ours is less likely to eat anything with sauce on it. Really felt bad for a customer watching owner/manager(?) demeaning attitude towards them dealing with an issue. Food is so so but don't ask them to prepare it to your liking. Google maps doesn't know where this place is but it's in the original Papa Joe's location with a nice interior update and American cuisine. The menu is based on the ingredients the owner/chef can get fresh. My friend loved the halibut and the steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Delicious! We arrived at 5 on a Saturday to avoid the crowd. When we left at 7, the small restaurant was filling up. There's a really nice outdoor space, enclosed by a high wooden screen so that the view is of your party, not the parking lot. The outdoor furniture in cozy groups would make you feel like your entertaining on your own deck. Great spot in downtown Westminster! I'll definitely be back to try more menu items. Visited for the first time with a group and food and cocktails were very good. I got the lamb burger which was cooked perfectly and really delicious, I would definitely come back for that. Others at my table got flatbreads and tacos which everyone enjoyed. We also got dessert - the tiramisu and pumpkin cheesecake were superb, the brownie was underwhelming. I was disappointed to be served water in plastic cups, not only is it not sustainable and wasteful but it's not really what I want when I'm sitting down for dinner and paying $20+ for my entree. I also really hate the "no substitutions" note at the bottom of the menu. They accredit this to "understanding their dishes" and "not wanting to make changes as they select their ingredients carefully" which is very stuck up to me. Let me take onions off my burger, you aren't a Michelin star restaurant in a cosmopolitan area, you are in a shared building in Westminster. I don't go for not allowing substitutions unless it's a packed day like NYE or Valentine's Day, and even then, it's Westminster. read more

Great service, nice chill vide and delicious food. Came with my wife, granddaughter and her mother. My granddaughter and I shared a burger which was cooked and seasoned very well. My wife had the brisket tacos, she told me it had a lot of meat and good flavor. This is a woman who can cook anything, if she says it was favorable and well proportioned, I believe her. My granddaughter's mother had the shrimp tacos. She eats like a bird but she ate every bit of those tacos. She must of liked them I always say, if you don't use it, you lose it. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Lost lLion is a quaint place offering quality drinks and menu options. All the food items that we ordered we're all quite tasty although the soup could have been more flavorful and lacked salt. A bonus was that the food was served hot. I had the stuffed rockfish which was very fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a few of their specialty cocktails which were tasty but lacked alcohol - perhaps they do not free pour? Service started slow and inattentive maybe because they were busy but it got better as the night started settling. I will definitely return to try some other other menu items but will stick to beer and wine as I am not one to favor measured drinks. read more

Went to Lost Lion for the first time this evening. Wow!!! Every good thing mentioned in this group about this restaurant was spot on! My wife and I loved it. I started with. Bourbon flight which obviously helps any meal. My wife had the paella and I had the roasted chicken thigh special. We took a couple homemade desserts home of course. It's ok. Staff is not amazing but also not awful. Not super attentive is what I'd say. Don't try to call or do carry out, they often don't pick up the phone. Food is alright but a bit overpriced. Can I rave about this place? From very limited experience -- absolutely. I almost never write reviews -- shame on me. But I feel compelled to write this one. Before tonight I had stopped into the Lost Lion just twice. The first time was when it first opened back at the height of the pandemic. The second, for a quick take out. Then, I was intrigued but not thrilled -- now I'm thrilled. Tonight I ordered a simple Manhattan while I waited for my take out order. What I got was a sublime craft cocktail -- worthy of a much bigger venue than Westminster, Maryland. Kudos to the bartender. Having been the victim of many a disappointing restaurant/bar Manhattan, this one was perfect. My only regret with the Manhattan was not seeing the list of delectable holiday cocktails first. Fantastic place! First time visiting after a long time of no inside dining. They are limiting the seating and don't take reservations so you might need to wait outside if it's a busy evening. Lost and Found! What a great addition to the City of Westminster's culinary scene -- while also elevating it! I had the Shrimp Bisque, Cauliflower and Broccoli side salad and Hog Balls small plate. Each was expertly prepared, well presented and delicious! Portion sizes are generous without being heavy. Prices are slightly aspirational for this town, but fair in any other city. I look forward to bringing friends, family and business associates here (COVID permitting). Location is tucked away behind the Winchester Exchange building on Main Street. Atmosphere is dare I say trendy, which is to say you could bring your favorite foodies here and they will be pleasantly surprised at the minimalist touches. We ordered lamb balls and vegetable soup for appetizers. The beet slaw acidity complemented the richness of lamb, and the vegetable soup hit the spot on a nippy fall evening. For entree, we got shrimp and polenta as well as the swordfish special, and we were amazed at the deliciousness and generosity of portions. The broccoli and cauliflower salad was the bomb! The food was phenomenal--both in terms of taste and presentation, and the service was impeccable. Took friends to experience a new restaurant that we thought they would like. The food was good and we were happy to have a new place to go. Unfortunately the food cannot make up for rude inappropriate behavior by management and inexperienced staff. It's very small and loud. It's not a place to go on a weekend night if your party is not planning to drink a lot. They try to hurry you through your visit and they tell you to leave if you linger after your check is paid, since there aren't many tables. My drink was very tasty (though expensive). My husband's burger was delicious, but my Cajun steak tacos were just ok. The meat was a little tough and I couldn't taste any real flavor past the extreme spiciness. The tacos came with no sides. Our waitress was personable but a little over the top with her "humor," and pushy. I would probably go back but at a less crowded time so there is less risk of being pressured into spending a lot of money on drinks, or being pushed out.
