Took a few seconds to make eye contact with someone so we could be seated. When the person did come over they asked "How can I help you?" The sign on the door says "Please wait to seated?" We want to be seated...... Once we were seated it took awhile for sever to come over. I actually had to stop one of the serves walking around to ask if anyone was working this section. Finally the person behind the bar came over to take our order. The food is delicious. I love when real corn beef is on the menu and not just on a Reuben. I stopped in on a Friday evening. There's plenty of parking out front and we were greeted by the bartender. The interior is typical pub decor but they had decorated nicely for the holidays! The service by the bartender Kyle was very fast and he gave great recommendations and even made us a pizza as late night food when we inquired! The pizza was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've ever had at a bar! The bathrooms are spacious and clean. The menu offers great variety and I love that they offer late night food here! Was told had to request booth at reservation, except not offered or told this making reservation online. Good service however food did take a while to come out. Liked menu offerings (better then a bar menu). We had NY strip and pork chop both well cooked, only complaint both were a bit over salted. Had coconut rice stir fry for an appetizer, also a bit over salted. Friday night live music was enjoyable. Ok dessert menu, but did not have any. Nothing was dairy free unfortunately. I wasn't sure what to expect when we pulled up in a strip shopping center in eldersburg. For Vday they offered a three course menu and a smaller selection from their main menu. We went with the three course which included champagne. Appetizers: saffron risotto for me and watercress/mixed green salad for hubby Dinner: BBQ ribeye for hubby and scallops for me Dessert: Black Forest bread pudding and limoncello cake Kid: pasta with butter and root beer ice cream (Don't judge. The older he gets the more of a heathen he becomes about food. ) Freaking delicious. The risotto has a nice crunch from scallions to counter the creaminess. Salad was bright and crunchy. The scallops were tender with green beans and wild rice. Hubby cleared his rib eye and the balsamic Brussels sprouts. Even liked the crab Mac and cheese. We visited the Cork for the first time in a while and arrived too early for the full menu being served so we had to scale back our order, but there were still plenty of options available. We ordered baked oysters, smoked chicken wings, two faced tuna, and crab fondue, all to share. It was early (before 4 PM), so not very busy. We were greeted by our waitress Jenna, who provided great service and was very attentive even after the place started to fill up. She also has a good sense of humor which was very nice. The ambiance is pleasant with country music playing in the background without being too loud. The food was all very tasty and they had my favorite bourbon which is a bonus. Eggs Benedict ... OK ... bacon over cooked and too salty. Tried this spot for brunch. Was enticed into the bottomless mimosas, told "If you get 2 it pays for itself" Cool! .... Mimosas were WAY weak and at 3 pm, after I barely finished, some dude comes from the back to take my glass and I said "I want to get one more" him: "Brunch ends at 3".... Regular server came back and said absolutely I could get another one, but why is this dude coming out spoiling the end of my experience - would have been five stars everyone is super friendly (staff and regulars) but this one dude spoiled my morning. For me, there's something about the drive outside the county that adds to the full dining experience. But The County Cork has been on my radar for a while. And we should support local, right? So we made a reservation through Open Table and headed over to the County Cork in Eldersburg. Location--This bistro is across Liberty Road from Eldersburg Commons (where there's aTJMaxx, Walmart, etc). It is in a small strip shopping center with a good amount of parking. They've carved out a small space out front for al fresco dining, though I wish there was room for a full patio. Being part of the strip mall takes away from the elegance I know this place could have if they were elsewhere. Service--Hostess and wait staff were cool from the start. We are always happy when we are valued from the time we enter. So great job! I would suggest not touching glasses with the refill bottle though, especially with COVID. Food took a little longer than we hoped to come out. Food--had a good flavor. Definitely home cooked which I love. Smoked wings were not crispy, but nicely smoked and tender. Hubby really liked the Ahi tacos and fries. My crab cakes (2) were too small IMO. And not lump meat. I loved the champagne pepper sauce and the corn. Nice flavor combo. I ordered green beans instead of asparagus, but there was a miscommunication and asparagus came out. This was remedied, but took a while. Overall--We will revisit. At the last minute, my friend and I were looking for a place that offered wine flights. We called The County Cork Wine Pub and were able to make a reservation for 9pm. They have their own parking lot, their seating is socially distanced, and it is very clean. Pros: * The wine selection is vast e.g. brut, spumante, sweet, dry, semisweet, rose, red, white, you name it. * Their wine flights include any wine that is offered by glass. You get three 2oz pours for $10 a flight. * Marie. She was our bartender and really was a highlight. I appreciated her amiability. She was attentive, very knowledgeable of the wine list, and gave wonderful recommendations. * Rosemary and garlic french fries... I've never had french fries that awesome In My Life. You've wasted your time if you do not order this on the menu. A+ Wine Flight 1: Blue Fish Riesling (D-), House White peach sangria (B-) and Caposaldo Moscato (B+). Wine Flight 2: Starborough Sauvignon blanc (A), House Red Sangria (A-), and 7 Moons Red Blend (A). The County Cork reminds me of Cheers. Everyone knows everyone and are very cordial. My friend and I were the only black faces there. At first we weren't sure how this was going to go, especially with the racial climate that we are in. Our momentary concern was in vain. We had never heard of this place before, but they were participating in HoCo's Restaurant Week, had a delicious sounding menu, and were quickly put in our number 1 must-try spot. When we first pulled up there was a middle of nowhere feeling. Tucked away between a Sprint and Cigar Shop, the place appeared very "hole in the wall"-esque. I wondered if it was a hidden gem we've been missing for years, but in the end it wasn't. My rating is considering the 'best' of everything we had but there were ample 1 & 2 star moments within the dining experience. Upon entering our waitress was awfully pushy for us to just pick a drink already. Rushed we quickly ordered: First Course: Tomato Gazpacho soup & Kale Salad w/peaches. Well it said with peaches, but I don't think if you put only one measly peach in the salad you should classify it as a kale peach salad. The gazpacho though was delightfully fresh, with a unique sorbet within to enhance the palette. Second Course: Grilled Figs & Thai Shrimp. Receiving a massive plate of wonderfully seasoned shrimp, I stared at my tiny plate of 2 figs, hoping my husband was willing to share. Granted the figs were juicy, with a creative cream sauce, over fresh arugula; I would still steer towards the shrimp so you can satisfy a hungry belly. In addition, on the shrimp the orange aoili was by far one of the most simple, yet amazing appetizer sauces I've had in awhile. Covering fresh lettuce, we found ourselves practically licking the plate to keep the flavor bursts going. Third Course: Lamb w/couscous & Maryland Crab Cakes. The lamb...oh the sad lamb. A wonderful sauce topping the lamb covered the plate. I believe the exuberant amount of sauce was intentional to cover the dry overcooked lamb. Not to mention, as a home chef, I could not believe how plain their couscous was. So plain I almost considered asking the waitress to ask the chef 'why so plain'. No sauce, no oil, no butter, no veggies, just a plate of probably boxed couscous. It was completely disappointing. The crab cakes, so juicy, so meaty, so creamy-in a corn cream sauce with wonderfully steamed asparagus- was the saving grace of dinner. Should we not have split our plates, I would have been disappointed to have relied on this lamb dinner. Fourth Course: Chocolate Coconut Mousse & Creme Brulee. A crisp, charred brulee that brought me back to memories in Paris. So perfectly created, the crunch with the creme filled the belly. The mousse- too fancy for its own good. Delicious, very delicious, but one scoop of mousse in a large cookie-type shell, I wish the chef just filled the shell a bit more. It looked sad, it left you wanting more (but in a frustrating drool way). Just really one more scoop to satisfy the palette. Meanwhile, the drinks were delightful. Great wine choices, and strong martinis! As for ambiance, prepare for your waitress to approach every five seconds, can't determine if that's a good or bad thing really. read more

Food and service can be spotty. I love that they think outside the box for menu items. Many times they are spot on, however, service can be slow and by the time food makes it to the table it's cold. Very cozy (read small) place and on nights when they have live music it's overwhelming. We avoid those evenings now. All the wonderful experiences we have enjoyed at this restaurant for late afternoon early evening meals went down the tube for Fathers Day Brunch. We arrived and were shown a table not knowing when you make a reservation you must ask for a booth. Despite my wife with a cane we had to request a booth and they did oblige. We waited for the server and after a wait she finally took our order. Then we waited and waited for our meal which she finally served. The meal was cold as if it had been ready for service 10-15 minutes before she brought the meal. A request for a coffee refill went unheeded until we had finished our meal. The pear/cranberry bread pudding with ice cream was very good and the ice cream not melted. The scrambled eggs and grits clearly had sat in the kitchen while the server busied herself with what seamed like regulars. We asked for the check and after some time went to the bar requesting our bill. Clearly this staff disrespected us. read more

This is a great place to stop in for a family of four or an intimate dining experience. The food is not only delicious, but it's priced well. I had the corn beef, my wife had the fish and chips, and my father had the tuna tacos. The fish was fried to perfection--crispy but not greasy. My corned beef had been trimmed of extra fat yet still held a punch of flavor in each bite. The tacos disappeared from my fathers plate almost immediately. The alcohol prices were equally reasonable. The dining experience exceeded my expectations in every way. Our server, Nicole, was clearly experienced, and was able to check in without interrupting conversation. We were the only ones in the restaurant on Saturday before Memorial Day. What would you expect? Poor or marginal service and food? Not here! This is our second visit and the same standards of service and food were provided, excellent. The Checken Casadillas were better than most Mexican Restaurants we have been to, and the food was hot! The Saffron Paella was great. It was served in a small cast iron fry pan that looked like a small portion. Not So. The meal was very filling. Along with the fresh baquet of bread, delicious. The Manhattan was one of the best I have had, of the 2 I have had. Chocolate Sunday fabulous. If you haven,t been here, give it a try. I had heard this was a great spot for Brunch in Carroll County and was looking for heated, outdoor seating to meet our friends. We both have young kids (a baby, 2 x 5 year olds, and a 3 year old amongst both families). They ended up picking up a booth toward the very back of the restaurant. It's a somewhat small space located in a shopping center. I had to pick up a book on Main Street in Sykesville and my friends live in Eldersburg hence why we picked The County Cork to meet. My friends remarked that they had dined here three years ago and the brunch was not very good, but we were all hopeful. After all a lot can change in 3 years right? My husband got the bottomless mimosas, the rest of the table got a bloody mary and I got bailey's to go with my coffee. The kids ordered food off the kids menu: pancakes for all three. I got the MD Eggs benedict and the crab meat was seriously lacking any seasoning. A little old bay would've gone a long way. The scrambled eggs were just blah and the hash browns had a strange sugary seasoning. Hash browns typically are savory and if anything well seasoned with a salt and pepper mix. Melanie was our server and mentioned how the kitchen broke the eggs for my husband's egg benedict but pretty sure she might've just forgotten to put it in. His food came later. I know this because I have worked at restaurants and have done this very same thing. Not a big deal but didn't help the overall experience of bland food. I met a friend here for drinks one night and after a superbly made manhattan, we opted for a charcuterie board and some light dinner appetizers. My friend also ordered the crab and brie fondue and, while not my typical appetizer choice because of how heavy it could be, it was very well balanced and featured a lot of quality crab meat. I came down to my hometown to visit some of my friends and we chose The Cork (as the locals call it) because they have a large selection of wines and offer very generous portions for wine flights, and my fiancee has been becoming a bit of a wine gal lately. Our server and bartender were very nice and attentive, although it was a bit odd for them to have monster instead of red bull when I asked for a red bull and vodka. The server became defensive and said 'this is a wine bar, I doubt we have red bull' despite offering two menus, one for wines and one for liquor, suggesting they aren't just a wine bar, but it ended up being interesting and comical to drink a grape flavored monster with vodka and this didn't put a damper on my experience at all. My fiancee absolutely loved the wines, she ended up getting at least two flights which is rare for her. None of us ordered food, but this place has been around since I was a kid so I can confidently say the food is at least average-above average. I know several people who frequent this restaurant and my first experience was great while catching up with some local friends. I'd recommend The County Cork for both drinkers and eaters. I'd like to check out the brunch sometime, gotta get those bottomless mimosas. Very classy place, with a well stocked bar, amazing wine list with very well thought out descriptions. The food was amazing. This has become our go to local place. Why? Great food, moderate prices and a decent wine selection. My favorite is the Ahi Tuna Fish Tacos. Lots and lots of tuna and 15.00, it's a steal and comes with really good fries. The rockfish is also excellent and the shaved lamb carmalized onion sandwich au jus is way better than it sounds. Great caesar salad with polenta croutons! Really good mussels and amazing tuna tartare with avocado and onions and potato chips! First, there are so many GF options and everything's marked. I always appreciate this. The prix fixe menu is a really good deal. It's so much food that I just had the herb and citrys roasted chicken. Even that was so much that I took some away for lunch the next day. My husband had the prix fixe and we shared his first two courses. I really appreciated that our server put my husband's order in GF so we could share, even though I didn't ask. And they carry the Black Ankle Rolling Hills which was a treat since our schedule didn't give us time to get out to the winery while we were in the area. read more
