    Fried chicken, shrimp and fries

A little Gen X flashback to Ponderosa. Order at the counter. They call your number when the food is ready. We got the fried chicken & shrimp special. It comes with a hot side and unlimited soup and salad bar. Fried chicken was lightly breaded and was good. Decent selection at the salad bar. Several folks in front of me just got the unlimited soup and salad for $9.95. Place is dated and I'm sure that updates are planned. Next to the restaurant is a deli/bakery counter and a separate butcher shop.

    Chicken lunch special

Great Food, Great Service, The place has really improved. The value for the money is the best in town. There is also a great Breakfast & Brunch Buffet on Sundays.

    Skimpy barbeque sandwich .

Barbeque sandwich was good, however not much meat. The onion rings were hot and fresh, the Pepsi was really good. It was a great value or Iwould have given then 3 stars. The floor was either old or dirty . The cashier was very friendly.

You can add on shrimp to your entree for $6.95. Surprise! They don't tell you that you only get 3 shrimp. Did I say $6.95?

Okay ... This place used to be a great spot. But ... it's really went the wrong way in a hurry. I'm…read moreguessing from the strain of buying out the original owner. The signature dish was and perhaps still is the Seafood club. Which for this who don't know is a club sandwich with a small crab cake, scoop of shrimp salad on a BLT. It use to cost somewhere around $25 and was a pretty good option at that price. Yesterday when I visited the prices were all inflated $40 for the same sandwich. I mean seriously ... didn't order it. Won't order it. What a ripoff ... Anyway we had the potato skins which were pretty traditional... cheese, bacon, scallions. Except rather than sour cream they offered some other sauce they call Rock Salt Sauce. I asked what it was and the bartender told me it was kind of like BBQ sauce. I passed on that and got the sour cream. They were perfectly acceptable as an app for the price. They did deliver a side cup of that sauce and it was terrible. It tasted like someone poured ketchup, Worcestershire, honey and some other stuff in a bowl for laughs. Another option that was shocking was steamed shrimp. $16 for half a pound or $32 per pound. C'mon ... Shrimp are inexpensive $10 or so a pound for some really nice size shrimp. Why don't you just serve them with a side of vasoline? For dinner I got the House burger. It's supposed to be a 1/2 pound burger with bacon, onion ring, cheddar cheese, and more of that special house sauce. I asked her to give me the burger, cheese, bacon , onion, and mayo. With NO RockSalt sauce. The male bartender said that it might come anyway because the kitchen guys do whatever they want. I had the fries with it. What I got was a 1/4 lb burger tops, I mean 4 bites tops. What's worse is it came with lettuce, tomato, on it beyond the stuff I ordered. Further they included a cup of the dreaded sauce and it had spilled and saturated about a 3rd of my French fries. The barmaid knew I was frustrated over it and helped with some bar napkins . My wife got the Salmon sandwich. It came with what seemed like 4-5 slices of bacon while my burger had 1 slice made into an X on top of the cheese. Anyway ... she said hers was okay. To the owner here Is my 2 cents. The pricing really is outrageous. And instruct the kitchen to follow the instructions and if the customer doesn't want the dam Rock Salt sauce then don't put it on the plate. Wastes product that isn't going to be consumed and only bad things can happen with it on the way to the table. I honestly don't see any reason to go back. Probably won't be long before the main stream crowd starts to turn to other options

Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We'll definitely be back.

We usually stick to the bar but sat in the dining room this time, which was nicely decorated and set a great tone. Then the little things started adding up. The roasted beet appetizer was tasty but had virtually none of the promised goat cheese. The bread was delicious... but it came with the kind of individual butter packets you'd find at a breakfast buffet. For an elevated dining experience, that's a small but noticeable miss. The bigger hiccups came with the entrees. My husband's salmon on his salad was overcooked, and my filet came out well done when I ordered medium. To his credit, our waiter noticed before I even said anything and took it back... but the replacement came out beyond rare. Silver lining: the sizzling skillet actually saved the day. I sliced it up and finished it right on the skillet, bringing it up to somewhere between mid-rare and medium which is right where I like it. Crisis averted, but it shouldn't have come to that. The scalloped potatoes looked a little questionable at first glance, looked a little like there was just a slice of melted cheese on top... but they were actually really good once we dug in. Our waiter was attentive and genuinely kind throughout, which made the experience much easier to shake off.
