18th & 21st is definitely one of those spots you go to when you want a more elevated night out. The ambiance is dim, modern, and intimate perfect for a date night or special occasion. We started with a bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir (listed at $68.21), which was smooth and paired really well with everything we ordered. That said, this is where things got a little concerning. The waiter initially charged us $110 for the bottle, and if I hadn't caught it, we would have overpaid by a lot. He did fix it, but honestly that's a pretty big red flag and not something you expect at this price point. The charred octopus ($23.18) was a standout. Tender with a smoky char and pickled onions and a creamy sauce that balanced everything out. For the entree, we got the half rack of lamb ($49.18) and the duck breast ($46.18). Both were cooked as we liked. The lamb was flavorful with crispy potatoes, and the duck had a great sear and richness without being too heavy. Dessert was the mango mousse coconut cake ($12.18), which was light and not overly sweet. However, we were told ahead of time it would be complimentary and that they would write "Happy Anniversary" on it neither of those things happened, and we were charged for it. That was disappointing and felt a bit sloppy. Service overall was on the slower side. The one bright spot was the bartender, Abel, who was great and actually made the experience better by offering us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate. Also note there is an automatic 20% service charge added to the bill. Overall, the food and ambiance were strong, but the service issues and billing mistakes took away from the experience. It had the potential to be a really great night, but a few key things were mishandled.
This is a fine jazz club tucked in behind a nice restaurant. Have yourself an evening of sublime music, delicious foods, amazing crafted drinks, great bartenders, and good company at 18th & 21st. We made a last-minute decision to try for some of the nightly jazz (except Monday) at 18th & 21st on a Friday evening (Oct 2025), hip-ly named for the prohibition amendment and repeal :-) There's a free parking garage right across from the entrance of the building they share with a sister restaurant, Cured. We arrived in the bright seasonally-decorated welcoming lobby about 7:50pm. We ought to have made reservations, but in under 10min, the reception staff took us to the more intimate room towards the back where we were seated at at the bar, which is really what we wanted. When we arrived, the 6pm jazz band had just gone on break, so we felt free to chat with friendly regulars and with the bar staff. They have a changing list of ten craft beers from $6 to $21, plus one $6 non-alcoholic brew. Five of the $14-$35 per-glass vintage wines from their list of 17 are preserved with the "corovin" system that keeps air out, so they are never "corked". We focussed on their list of 11 crafted $13-$22 cocktails plus 5 non-alcoholic ones, all made with quality ingredients, each naming the staff member(s) (and guests) who formulated the recipe! We found Alex's $16 Fernetinez sublimely sweet: of bitter fernet amaro, Frederick-based locally-sourced award-winning McClintock One Last Time gin (exclusive for 18th&21st), smooth Luxardo liqueur, and a sweet vermouth. We loved the aroma and flavor of the classic Smoked Old Fashioned of bourbon from Kentucky's 10th-oldest distillery, Green River, moved to a mild well-rounded sweetness by brown sugar simple syrup, smoked in front of me by Mike (if i remember), with added richness from smoky bitters. They have a creative menu of $30 to $65 entrees, plus salads, small plates, apps, and sides, and they have a changing menu of small plates. We really hadn't planned on eating, but we couldn't resist. The $17 duck bao buns had thin tender filets with a sweet lightly-salty apricot-soy glaze and a tangy crunchy pickled cucumber slaw on a soft folded yeasted slightly-sweet white-flour bun. The $12 pair of fried fresh-tasting oysters were sweet and juicy with a light-flavored crunchy crust. They were so yummy, and easy to enjoy with our cocktails. Rodney Kelly's jazz band was excellent, playing with spirit, joking with each other and the audience, even staging a song or two with a skilled member of the restaurant staff. Afterwards we had brief moments with some of the band members, like an intimate jazz club. Later in the evening, i also had a Turkish Sunset, a Manhattan-variation created in a collaboration among the staff and a guest (Well-done Ozzie!). I love Elijah Craig, and wanted to try their dry toasted rye, with housemade allspice dram syrup, Small Hands grenadine, and bitters. By now, i felt very much at home with the staff, and when i learned that one of them had helped formulate this beverage, i confided that its amazing complexity was, for me, just a touch too dry. Alex (if i remember) considered the ingredients and the target flavors, and added just a touch of a sweet lemony liqueur, perfectly complimenting the recipe's flavors! Real-time crafting goes above and beyond, Thank you! (And when they next update the menu, maybe they'll have a custom option named for me :-)
Hello everyone I had the pleasure of dining at 18th and 21st. What a wonderful place to have a date night. The entrance reminds you of a speakeasy hidden away as you walk through Cured. The doorway reveals elegant seating, a full bar, and stage for live music. I was fortunate to enjoy the live jazz band for about an hour before the restaurant closed. The bartenders came ready to serve and prepared amazing cocktails. I encourage you to get them to have fun and make you a cocktail of their choice off menu. The appetizers and food did not disappoint one bit. I throughly enjoyed the charcuterie spread which is al a carte. The more you order the more you save in a way with the single item cost of $8. Go for the Serrano and Chorizo. The tempura was fresh, crispy, and plentiful. It did arrive a bit greasy which was ok because it came directly out of the fryer and very hot upon arrival. It would be nice if it were paired with a dipping sauce. The main course was a home run and honestly you can't go wrong between the lamb or short rib. The lamb was well seasoned and grilled to the perfect temp. Don't be afraid to place the utensils aside and go for it. The short rib gives you at home comfort food made with care. The beef flavor was bold, savory, and had an amazing tenderness. Honestly you could eat it with a spoon. Overall 4.5 of 5 I do recommend guest to arrive early to take in the ambiance, capture photos, have a cocktail, and prepare for the live music entertainment. Also know that gratuity 20% is automatically included despite the amount of guest in your party. I'm excited for my next visit. Thank you

What a cool spot! You have to walk through the connecting restaurant, Cured, before you go through the wooden door to 18th & 21st. It's dimly lit and creates a romantic vibe. A live pianist played at the beginning and throughout the evening, the music switched up a bit which was great to hear. A bit loud when the band played but really fun vibes. I first tried their Blueberry Mint Lemondrop cocktail which was a bit sweet but still good. For my 2nd drink I switched it to It's Daiquiri Thyme which was similar to a rum punch and very refreshing. For foods, we shared the Brussels Sprouts, Day Boat Scallops, and Maryland Crabcake. All the food were delicious but I definitely feel everything had so much sauce it was a little overpowering. The Brussels sprouts were smothered in it and the scallops with polenta had a lot as well along with the crabcake. The servers kept refilling my water glass multiple times given how thirsty I was from all the sauce and salty flavors of the dishes we ordered. Even though we couldn't finish our food and took leftovers, we still ended up sharing the Earl Grey Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was a bit sweeter than how I normally liked but still great. Such a cool restaurant to dine at for a good date night. I'll have to try something off the grill next time that might not be as sauce dominated. Otherwise, the ambience here is great.
I enjoyed my visit. The atmosphere was sexy and gave speakeasy vibes. I enjoy live music so that's why I wanted to visit. The bartender was great in his recommendations and really friendly. My meal was good. The vegetable that came with the short rib was amazing. I'm not sure what It was(looked like a broc/cauliflower hybrid) lol. I've never had an old fashion on tap and was skeptical at first to try but I'm glad I did. It was really good. I never get dessert but I felt like being greedy and ordered this apple pastry which was delectable. I'll definitely return when the full band is there to perform.
I came here to celebrate an anniversary dinner, and I have to say, it really feels like the place to be on the weekend. It's tucked away between buildings. You'd never know it was there, which seems to be a Columbia thing, honestly. We checked in and waited about 10 minutes before being called back, then another 10 minutes at our table before a waitress came by. A slow start for sure, but once she arrived, everything picked up. The drinks were AMAZING. Strong but you couldn't even taste the liquor, which made them dangerously good. As for the food, my lamb chops were delicious, and the salad came with whole sardines, which was a nice surprise. My partner wanted the crab cakes but they had already run out, so she went with the pasta instead, which was decent but nothing too special. What really brought the whole evening together was the live music. They had a great mix of songs and even though we were probably younger than most of the crowd, we still had a timeeee. We also got complimentary champagne and cake to celebrate, which was a really nice touch. It looks like their menu changes from time to time, so I'd definitely come back to see what else they have.
Wow! What a unique place. Came here for my anniversary dinner and had an incredible time! The menu is small and indulgent but everything we had was great. We got 2 drinks, 1 app, 2 entrees and it was about $200 including tip. Note that they do automatically include 20% on all bills. The music is at a perfect volume to enjoy and chat. We had the lobster fritters which had huge chunks of lobster and a butter sauce. If I had to be hyper critical, I'd note that the batter itself was tasteless (though crispy!) and the butter sauce was plain. I would've rather had more of a duck sauce with it. For entrees - my husband got the short rib and I got the scallops. The scallops were delish and came with 6, which I felt was a lot! I loved the pumpkin puree (I'm sure this is seasonal and would change) and the crispy prosciutto. My husband love his short rib, noting it was tender and fell right apart. We were also given a nice cupcake and card to celebrate our anniversary, which was very thoughtful. My only complaint is there was one couple who was more than a bit disruptive and staff did nothing to subdue them. For reference, there are house rules listed on each table, including noting for guests to use inside voices and not take phone calls. I guess these are optional "rules"? The woman was singing LOUDLY to the instrumental jazz music in this small restaurant. Later, the man took a FACETIME PHONE CALL, which is just absolutely outrageous. Our waitress went to give them their bill and didn't say anything to them...? Several tables turned to stare at them. Not sure why they weren't upheld to the standard of the restaurant but for the price we paid, and for the rules literally listed on the table, plus tip is automatically included, this was frustrating. In any case, everything was delicious, ambience was beautiful, and our service was great. We would return!
Alex was a great server. The staff is knowledgeable and quick. We did bar service. I got the Irish espresso martini and swapped the Glendalough for Uncle Nearest 1865. In addition, the summer solstice fell a bit flat. The ambiance here is wonderful though so I am interested in trying the entrees as well as the other side @ Cured.
Ambiance, service and live music are very good. The servers are very pleasant, patient and helpful. The food items selected this time weren't as good as my previous experience but fair. We had the braised short rib, which wasn't as tender as most places and the sauce was missing a richness in flavor. The pork chop was tender but would be enhanced with a richer sauce. The Brussels were good. Dessert we tried the bread pudding which could use a bit more moisture and/or a sweet sauce. The brownie is warm, more fudge based and was very tasty paired well with some berries. If you add some actual pecans/nuts (per request) aside from the bacon crisps it would be dynamite!

We visited Cured 18th & 21st the night before Valentine's Day. This speakeasy-style spot offers a refined dining and bar experience with live jazz and an inviting atmosphere. Our server, Eyasu, was knowledgeable and attentive, making helpful menu recommendations. While reservations are recommended for the restaurant, we dined at the bar and enjoyed excellent appetizers before moving to the restaurant area for drinks and live music. It was the perfect start to Valentine's weekend, and I highly recommend Cured 18th & 21st. 6pm Sunday Date Night I love the lore of this experience. When you arrive at the entrance of the first restaurant they have to make a call to the 18th & 21st. Next a woman dressed in 1920s fashion greeted us and gave us Prohibition history fun facts. We followed her to the back and she knocked 2x on the big door. We were accepted into the cute dimly lit room. Live music Secret dining under the guise of the prohibition . I was surprised that the customers were not dressed for the theme. Idk Bmore doesn't really give fashion anyway. Well I was more than prepared with my outfit . I planned to go and wanted to fit the vibe. Sometimes they have scheduled live entertainment and sell tickets. We didn't order food but I had the charcuterie board. You can build the board how you like. The drinks were tasty and next time I will have an entree. They have rules here. Rules that support the speakeasy theme and lore. Dress for the occasion and have great time. Bring some money because it is pricey . read more

We visited Cured 18th & 21st the night before Valentine's Day. This speakeasy-style spot offers a refined dining and bar experience with live jazz and an inviting atmosphere. Our server, Eyasu, was knowledgeable and attentive, making helpful menu recommendations. While reservations are recommended for the restaurant, we dined at the bar and enjoyed excellent appetizers before moving to the restaurant area for drinks and live music. TLDR: Go for live music, drinks, and green curry mussels. Skip the Branzino and croquettes. I was so excited to visit this speakeasy with my friend. The speakeasy itself is really cool and has a fun moody vibe. The music and drinks were also really great. What was not great was the service and some of the food. When we tried to order appetizers our server said that the table was smaller so she recommends ordering all the food at once ( which doesn't make sense). When my friend said we would still like to order, she just repeated that the table was really small. The order wasn't put in until the rest of our order was placed. What to skip: Branzino ( it hurts my heart to say this because I love Branzino). The Branzino was only ok and the rice wasn't cooked at all. It wasn't al dente- it was severely undercooked. When I told the waitress she told me jasmine rice is harder than other rice ( ). I explained that I've had jasmine rice before and that this was not cooked. Instead of taking the plate she made me scrape off the rice on to an appetizer plate. I never send this back unless something is very wrong and at almost $50 for this entree, severely undercooked rice shouldn't be on the plate. It was so nice to get fancy from time to time and the ambiance was perfect. While waiting for our meal, live jazz filled the room. Although we were in the back tables with soft sofa booths, the staff was very attentive. We felt special and taken care of. read more

After realizing both Cured and 18th & 21st was in the same building. I needed to give this establishment another try! This time it was to 18th & 21st for dinner. I was a little skeptical about the whole "Speakeasy" vibe but after being escorted to a location, you would never actually find walking around on your own, it definitely fits the description. I love the 60s Supper Club feel, it's like the moment you walk through the door, you are thrown into a time of sky views , Jazz and fine dining. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgable about our options on the menu, there was a lot to choose from. This is definitely a grown and sext date night event and not cheap, although every thing we ordered was great, I am not sure if our food was worth the price. If you ever just want to sit in someplace nice, with live jazz and a great atmosphere, this would be the place to check out! read more
Excellent service, great drinks & food. BBBBLT sliders: sooooo good! The bacon is thick, juicy & salty. The bacon reminded me of a thick piece of pork belly. If they had this as an entree, I'd order this every time Crab appetizer: a bit too floral for me but overall was okay. On the other hand, the crabmeat was juicy and quite sizable. Ribeye: I ordered this medium rare but came out more medium well. It was a little expensive but most steaks are nowadays. I ordered it with the truffle butter which was the perfect option. Mac & cheese: wow, this was really cheesy! It has a huge cheese pull effect Mushroom pasta: this was good but not as creamy as I thought it would be. Corn chowder: I loved this desert! This place is a whole vibe! Perfect for a date night! The live jazz music was everything! Although they're no longer a "speakeasy," it gives those feels, and I love it! They're located inside Cured, and although it's considered a separate restaurant, you still have to check in at the Cured hostess desk! Convenient, free parking garage next door! Was here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had 10 in our party and they were able to accommodate us! Our server, Shelly, was great. Thank you for making my friend's night so special. The drinks were great. My fave was the "do you see," and I recommend it! Restaurant Week was going on, but I couldn't eat most of the menu offerings, so I stuck to the main menu. At least they didn't require that the entire party participate in Restaurant Week as some places do. I got the braised short rib, and it was quite flavorful and filling. Everyone enjoyed their food! Overall a great evening, and I'd recommend this place for a special night out. read more
Absolutely loved that speakeasy vibes. The cocktails were delicious and the apps we got were delicious. The live jazz music really made this an evening worth remembering. Fabulous spot. I've driven past this restaurant several times but finally ventured in. Not disappointed at all. We sat outside and enjoyed the music and wonderful weather. Maurice was awesome and made great recommendations. We will be back for sure especially to enjoy the green curry mussels!!!! read more
First time at this restaurant. It was great Ambiance is that of speakeasy Quiet. Romantic atmosphere. Big long bar Up front is just a regular restaurant. You walk through to another entrance. Yummy!! The layout is cool. There are several rooms so that all parties aren't in one place. The lighting is different in each and so is the seating. Parking is easy and close by. The food and drinks were very good. Our waiter made recommendations and we were not disappointed! I'd go back again and again. read more
Wow this is a very interesting place here. So there is a restaurant on the outside called cured. This part of the restaurant is hidden in the back and can only be reserved... no walk ins. The decor is vibrant it has a vintage allure. Food: omg!! The food was sooo goood! I had the beef rib with fingerling potatoes. It was perfect. I have to come back for it again. The icing on the cake was the band of live music! It was sooo good! I was delighted to discover this place and I'm looking forward to come again. read more
Babbbbyyyyyy those Shrimp and Grits were amazing. I was here for a private event that was buffet style. We had shrimp and grits, buffalo chicken sliders, bacon, asparagus quiche, French toast and fruit .... Our private bartender she was great very friendly. The room we were in was very cozy. The food was good. I wouldn't say it was anything to brag about. But it had a good taste. For a starter I ordered the Brussels sprouts in a peanut sauce. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. They were very tender and flavorful. For an entree I ordered the ribeye with truffle Mac n cheese. The ribeye was cooked to perfection however it needed more seasoning. I was very dissatisfied with the Mac n cheese. It was not flavorful at all and it didn't seem as thought it was a truffle Mac n cheese. For dessert I ordered the crème brûlée which was good but how can you really mess that up honestly. For a beverage I ordered the smoke old fashioned which was good...just wish it had more of a Smokey flavor. The service was impeccable. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He gave great suggestions and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was superb. The aesthetic gave a fancy, class 1950's bar setting. So you ever visit a place and wonder why it took you so long because the experience was so good? That was my experience at 18th & 21st. I went with a couple of my friends for our last book club session of the year and it was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the wings, brussel sprouts, crab pizza, mussels & egg rolls appetizers. Everything was so good (minus the pizza: we found the bread to be too thick) that we decided to order another round and ditch the main course. Our server was kind and attentive, checking on us every couple of minutes. We wanted to be able to chat about the book, so the ambiance was appropriate despite the music playing in the background. It wasn't too loud. It was a bit difficult to get reservations; we had to sit at the high tops cause that's all they had left, so book early! read more

I celebrated my birthday at 18th & 21st and friends and I have to so that is always one of my go to's. It's intimate, the service is always impeccable, food and drinks are DELICIOUS, never disappoints and the ambiance inviting. I love Wednesday nights as you get to enjoy live jazz. 18th & 21st always leave me with plans to return soon. read more
A cute, classy, vibey jazz spot with delicious food and drinks. Went on a Friday night and was able to get seated quickly. I was pleasantly surprised since my previous attempts weren't successful without reservations. I highly recommend marking reservations. If you don't get seating at 18th & 21st you can still enjoy the restaurant portion at Cured. IF you enjoy truffles and scallops I definitely recommend their Truffle Croquette and Seared Scallops. And for dessert, try their Classic Creme Brûlée as it will not disappoint. The drinks were also good. They had some interesting concoctions and some twists on classic cocktails. The jazz show was really nice and captivating. I love jazz and speakeasy's so this is the perfect spot for date night, a celebration, or an outing with friends, or alone! read more
