Called to see if you needed reservations...they asked me to arrive later than we wanted because they had a large table coming in. Got there earlier and sat at the bar. Place was EMPTY except for a full locals drinking a few beers. Decided to eat in the bar and not wait the 45 minutes for out reservation. Steak was good, the mashed were probably three to four days old that is why they hid them under the steak. I love mashed but not old rusty mashed! But that's not the issue...the FLIES!!!!! Every where! Crawling over the TV, trying to shoe them away while you are trying to eat.The poor lady with the chicken wings!! The flies were all over her while she tried to eat....GROSS! read more

Take pride in what you do. We love Buds. We decided to celebrate a big birthday with 3 generations (10 people). It didn't go well. It happens. Unfortunately it was a bit of a snowball event and I felt like I needed to let them know. I reached out to the owner the following day to just give some feedback. We've never had a bad experience, we've recommended Buds to friends and family. How can a business correct issues if they aren't made aware of the problem? To say that the response went beyond my expectations is an understatement. The owner contacted me. He had already been made aware of our experience. He was sincerely apologetic but more so, he was determined to make it right. He asked for an opportunity to redeem our experience and his restaurant. Two months later (it's hard to coordinate 10 people), we went back... Wow! Sweet Redemption!! The food, atmosphere and service were all amazing. The seafood dish had a little more heat than expected but everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our kids tried so many new foods and loved every single thing they tasted. We couldn't have asked for a better overall experience. My point? Don't let one "off night" ruin greatness. This place is fabulous. Bud's is a true treat in the Westminster area. Everything about this restaurant/bar is honest and you get what you see and pay for. Fine dining with white table cloths and good food on one side paired with a down to earth working person's bar on the other. This place draws locals and out of towners alike. Food is fresh, hot and not overpriced. In fact, Bud's has the BEST hamburger within 100 miles. Solid wine- list, Guiness Stout and great home-made desserts. We had out-of-town guests and we went to Bud's based on reviews and recommendations from locals. We were not disappointed. Anything with crab that we ordered were REALLY good! The cream of crab soup, the chicken chesapeake, scallops over crab risotto, crab eggrolls.... The chunks of crabs are so good and it worked with whatever sauce or pairings they came with. We requested for an appetizer sampler which they don't have on their menu, but they came up with something for us so we got to try a variety of food. We also loved the elk chops. Not gamey at all, maybe slight gamey-ness when you get closer to the bone. However, it was tender and not dry. Tasty! The teriyaki-pineapple sauce went very well with the salmon and they're pork chops were well-spiced without being overpowering. No sauce, but my boys ate them all up! That's how good it was. The gentlemen in the group got the ribeye and there were no complaints. Meat was medium rare and plates were "dusted"! Definitely recommended as it is not as expensive compared to other similar establishments. read more

Absolutely phenomenal. I'd consider this restaurant a hidden gem worth the drive for anyone coming from Baltimore. The wait staff were spectacular at being quick to seat us, offer drinks and specials and were so pleasant. Wow, I can't believe how bad this place was. First the entrance was not clearly marked. When we got seated they brought the drink menu but my party doesn't drink, so I think they were mad we didn't order beverages. Took them another 5-10 minutes to bring food menus. The bread was good but we asked for more bread & the second basket had different bread in it & it was not as good. The cream of crab soup was disgusting! The chicken tender app was frozen Tyson chicken strips. The sandwiches were over done & on hamburger rolls. The fries were frozen! The mixed berry bread pudding had no berries! Billy Joe was our server both visits, and she's the best! Great personality and very attentive! The food is always so awesome. I had the cream of crab soup, that had huge chunks of backfin. I followed up with Chicken Chesapeake, substituting fries and salad instead of roasted potatoes and the veggies of the day. Others had the filet mignon, rib eye steak, and blackened rockfish. I tasted each and they were all fabulous! The wine list has great depth and good, affordable options. Very tasty cocktails and excellent desserts! When we first pulled up we were a little taken aback by the rustic exterior. However when you walk in, it is absolutely adorable and very classy. Cloth table clothes and napkins. Very nice atmosphere. We went here for the first time for lunch for our anniversary. We started with the crab dip and bread service. Both were incredibly tasty. 3 types of bread and one better than the next. Nice touch to serve them with olive oil and butter. Crab dip came with home made tortilla chips which were very yummy. I had the avocado salad with shrimp salad on the side. The salad was dressed well and had lots of goodies and plenty of avocado. Shrimp salad was good but was a tiny bit bland. It was chock full of shrimp which I liked. My husband had the ribeye which he said was cooked to perfect medium rare. Broccolini with it were also cooked and seasoned well. We were too full for dessert but will definitely be back. Our service was also wonderful. read more

We enjoyed a very nice meal to celebrate Fathers Day. Very nice for special occasions or a date. Food was delicious, started with oysters on the half shell, the special micro green salads was very good and my husband enjoyed the spinach salad. I had the halibut special and it was delicious. My husband's blackened rockfish was good but a smaller portion than the halibut. We enjoyed the NY cheese cake and Frangelico crème brûlée for dessert. Went here for the first time today. We walked in, and were immediately welcomed and treated like family. The people were great, and the fellow diners were amazing. You could tell that this was a great small-town restaurant. After the welcome, we ordered the food... bourbon wings, Memphis burger, and hot roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy. The wings were cooked perfectly, and were absolutely delicious. Then the burger... the burger was easily top 2 burgers I've ever had. You could tell it was homemade, along with everything else there. I may have passed this place a hundred times without noticing. But never again! Everything was delicious! My personal favorite was the creamy pureed chicken & rice soup. The elk chop was wonderful. Great food! Brooke and Ken are the owners and are such nice people. Their salads are delicious and large with great homemade dressings. Crabcakes are so good, hard to get a good crab cake these days. Warm bread and real butter is a great bonus!! Wine selection is great. The dining room is quaint and cozy. If there is any little thing you are not happy with they will make it right immediately. Our party of eight enjoyed a wonderful, five-star, five course experience at Bud's/Silver Run on New Year's eve, 2021. We totally loved it - the food, service and ambiance - from the first course to the last super tasty bite. We'll definitely list it as one of our very favorite restaurants. Brooke suggested the bread pudding for dessert, and it was the best ever. My wife remarked that she, a true taste-tester of steak, had never had a better cut of beef. Bud's at Silver Run is a nice little restaurant located off of Littlestown Pike in Westminster. Owned by chef Ken and his wife, Brooke, this pub/fine dining restaurant (an 1870 farm house) has been around since '08 and offers some delicious American fare. The hubs and I came here for an early dinner, and we were seated by the fireplace. I had a Peaches & Cream specialty 'martini,' made with Peachtree Schnapps, Bailey's Irish Cream, and Stoli Vanilla - this was sweet, strong, and slightly frothy! For our meal, we started off with a Crab Crostini (toasted thin slices of ciabatta bread topped with lump crab meat and Imperial sauce, with some melted mild cheddar cheese; the amount of crab meat was generous, sweet, and juicy, but I couldn't really taste the cheddar cheese; the ciabatta bread were not needed, as we just scooped up all the crab meat!); a grilled Romaine salad to share (drizzled with olive oil and topped with Parmesan cheese and croutons, this had a slight sweetness to it and pretty tasty!); a hand-cut Filet Mignon (served with wild mushrooms (it seems as if these may have been sauteed with red wine), roasted garlic mashed Yukon Gold potatoes (the garlic wasn't really pronounced, but the mashed potatoes were indeed fluffy), and a side of garlic-dressed string beans (perfectly cooked and had a lot of diced garlic!); and, a hand-cut Grilled Ribeye (12 oz and 16 oz were offered; we opted for the 12 oz; lightly seasoned, this was also served with the roasted garlic mashed Yukon Gold potatoes and a side of garlic-dressed string beans). Both were requested to be a medium well, but came out as a medium; both steaks were super juicy, and while I do like more seasoning and more salt, the meal itself was very clean- and healthy-tasting and minimal on the sodium. You can definitely taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients, which the hubs and I both appreciated. Complimentary hot rolls were offered with a side of cold butter and olive oil. Our server, Matt, was super friendly and made sure to check up on us often, and even Mr. Ken, the owner, came out to make sure that everything was great! The restaurant itself is chic, but not pretentious to the slightest degree. Six of us were on our way to Washington, D.C., yesterday when the snow forced us to change our plans and I had to cancel our dinner reservations at Vidalia (one of my favorite restaurants in the city). As an alternative closer to home, someone suggested Bud's at Silver Run, and I had my doubts. We've passed that place many times, and I always thought it looked more like a roadhouse than a fine dining restaurant, which is what we were anticipating. But the couple in our group who had eaten there before recommended it, so we decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I thought the place had a nice feel. Simple, clean, elegant decor. The wine list was very good and the prices, not too high. (Our bottles of Layer Cake shiraz were only $28 apiece.) The menu was broad enough to appeal to everyone's palate, from chicken, steaks, prime rib, to salmon, corvina, scallops and more. It was when the entrees arrived that this restaurant, and it's staff, really distinguished themselves. All six plates were served simultaneously, with hot food. No need to tell the lucky ones to "go ahead and eat before your food gets cold" while the rest wait for their dishes. And much to my surprise, we all liked our choices very much ... not an easy thing to pull off with a six "foodies" to please. My prime rib was perfectly prepared, as was the bison, salmon, etc. The waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Before we left, chef Ken came out to see us, and he mentioned he had some fresh asparagus that was not on the menu. When one of our group told him how she likes to prepare it, he shared his recipe, and then brought out a sample for her in a to-go box.. Nice touch! Bud's was a delightful find on a snowy evening.
