Mother's Day brunch was awful. Food was just terrible, burnt omelettes, dried up prime rib, really nothing good to say about this buffet.

Easter Day brunch was just a dried up mess, had the next to last seating, nothing looked restocked & replenished the entire time we were there. My grandson found a donut that looked pretty good, that's all he ate. I've been here before Years ago & it was good, not anymore! Hopefully they'll step up the fresh food before Mother's Day! This evening we reviewed the Johannssons website to see what time they closed. EVERYTHING said open until 1am, at a little before 9 we entered the building. IT WAS EMPTY. Our luck, right... no. The man, I'm assuming is the bartender told us "due to the economy they closed whenever it suited them." Needless to say, we were taken aback. My husband asked them to please post their hours for food since it was an inconvenience and if the economy was so bad why are there 4 servers, 2 busser and the kitchen staff just sitting around, shouldn't everyone go home (except the bartender). The bar wasn't really even open for a drink. We left, the bartender proceeded to chase us into the street and demanded to know what we actually do for a living and how could the economy not bother us, I explained I am a dispatcher and my hours are different and I'm employed, just like him. He didn't need to be rude but he proceeded to call me names (which I won't put here but trust me, if I didn't like my job I would have knocked them out of his smart mouth)!!! WE WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN and if you are a woman, don't go there. The bartender is unhinged! Customer service, hell he needs to learn to just be a human again and never speak to anyone. I just had some food today (slow night). The food: -crab dip: extremely salty! -burratta affogato: good -French onion soup: just okay... not a lot of flavor I would love to return and see an improvement in the food The service: it was a slow day, service felt slow here and there, but overall it was good The place is well decorated and what I loved the most was the train that passes right by the window. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! First off, I've never left a review on anything ever. I downloaded Yelp Just to leave this review. My girlfriend didn't realize the crab melt had peppers on it, when she got it she was a little upset because we just drove 3+ and were hungry (she was not upset with the waitress, just that she didn't realize it had peppers) and the waitress (tall goofy looking younger lady) said "well if you would've asked I would've told you what was on it!" In the most snarky condescending tone. I've been in these food service industry for the better part of 15 years and I've never heard anyone speak like that to a customer. I asked the lady if we could get it taken off, and because she swapped plates with her mom (hardly any of it got eaten bc she didn't like it either) she wouldn't take it off. I guess you guys just hire anyone but I'll definitely make sure none of my friends or family comes to eat here again. Do better!!! read more

Glory days of this lovely restaurant appear to be gone. We booked a family gathering for the Holiday Brunch on Dec. 29, 2024. Having been to Johanssons many times in the past, my husband and I jumped at the chance to once again enjoy the famous brunch that had been so delicious and bountiful in years past. However, on the 29th, the food was mediocre AND it was barely warmed over. They had "run low on eggs" the day before, according to one of the servers on the line. So they just had a few eggs left that they used for made-to-order omelets. They were also low on the beef that in years past was a steamship round carving station. But on this day, we were treated to warmed up well done beef slices in a chaffing dish. So we paid $96 for leftovers. Never again. read more

Hostess was a tad rude to us because we called the morning of for our party of 10 and only one waitress was on duty. Joy our Waitress was friendly and attentive for as busy as she was. Food was disappointing - wings were dry, dip and calamari didn't have much seasoning. Potato chowder was good and the peppers in the calamari were great! They have a woodfire oven so I tried the pepperoni pizza and it was really good but the pepperonis are spicy- so beware. read more

I'm only giving this 3 stars for the service and the burrata affogato. Our waitress was moving constantly. The men really enjoyed their meals, and say the fries are awesome. We had an absolutely awful experience here on Dec. 14. we are sick of hearing we are busy, short staffed! Well don't take as many reservations if you can't handle it. it took literally 45 minutes for 2 simple vodka drinks! food was NOT great. brick oven pizza was by far the worse we have ever had. tons of mistakes, we tried to get our check & leave for over an hour! the manager was very rude to all of us. will be a long time before I step foot back in that restaurant. so many better choices where we are treated w/respect & our money is appreciate! read more

There are a few things in life that really irritate me, and make me not want to ever return to a bar and/or restaurant - the biggest of which is dishonesty. Here's the deal... We walked into the bar over the weekend to have a couple drinks. We sat down and ordered two old-fashioned's, as we have done many times before. This time however, the bartender thought it would be fun to add a "more alcohol" charge to the tab, to the tune of $5 each. When we asked her about it, she told us that was how it had to be rang in, and that the surcharge was for the "bitters." Now, as someone who gets an old-fashioned literally everywhere I go, I'm used to paying about $8-$12 each. I'm not used to $15 each - especially not in Westminster. I'm not paying NYC prices in Westminster. What's worse is that when we went to go talk to the manager, she gave us the same BS answer. Now, I understand defending your employees, but don't act nasty to your paying customers and tell us that if we don't like the additional charge, then we don't have to come back. Trust me - we won't. Oh, and by the way, we tested our theory at a couple other restaurants this weekend, and even with an upcharge for Makers Mark, they were still in the aforementioned range. If you want your customer back, have a clearer receipt, and perhaps even button with consistent pricing for such a drink - especially considering how popular it is. read more

I'm all about finding a new spot with a good atmosphere and food to match and this place met our expectations. We both ordered side Caesar salads for starters, which were tasty. Our waitress brought obread with some kind of powder on them.. not my favorite but they weren't bad. Our main courses were amazing! I had the Chicken Chesapeake with Jasmine Rice and steamed broccoli. My boyfriend had the crab cakes with French fries. Our overall experience was great was for our first visit. We'll definitely be making another trip soon. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Stopped in for lunch today. To start, the old woman at the front who sat us was miserable and not personable at all. Our waitress was the bartender and she was rude as can be. I asked her if one of the food menu items would've been a good and she replied "mhm." No information, no recommendation to it. Nothing. Completely useless to be honest. I didn't even ask her what was in it because she clearly seemed bothered to do her job in any capacity. When the food arrived, the wings were overcooked. The steak was overcooked and the crab melt was more peppers than anything and lacked any flavor other than green peppers. I was disappointed when the food arrived to the table as I did not realize the amount of peppers that would be in the meal. (It was overwhelming) while I was expressing my frustration to my mother at the table, the bartender rudely said under her breath "well if you would've asked me, you would've known." I hadn't even said anything to her. I was appalled. I just drove 3 hours and this is the treatment you give to paying customers? Just a horrible atmosphere and customer service experience. It had been a few years since we had been to Johanssons and it was one of the nicest restaurants in Westminster. Ordered carry-out for a family birthday dinner. The woman who took the order seemed not interested in taking the order. The turnoff was when we walked in, a lady-staff person was eating dinner and jumped off her chair to inform us they were no longer serving food for the evening. Not a hello or how can I help you, etc. We were then told to wait for the bartender. To her credit, she was pleasant. The food was good and I would return based on the food alone and not the staff. We have had only good experiences at O'Lourdans which is owned by the same family- I will continue to go to O'Lourdans as whoever's running the restaurant knows customer service. Rockfish: Pan fried and finished with a white wine lemon butter sauce with jumbo lump crab meat. $26.00 Table of 4 - 1 ordered crab cakes, 3 ordered rockfish with crab sauce & potato & broccoli. RockFish tasted fishy - skin was still on fish and skin was rubbery not crisped - fish did not flake off skin. Dinners served without Broccoli - Broccoli came to table cold 20 mins after meal served. Next we ordered. Crab melt, salad, 2 pizzas. The pizzas came out 15+ min after the other orders were served. Crab melt was getting cold waiting. Party of 4 should not have to eat in shifts. No one refilled drinks, no apologies for the seriously late pizza ("read the fine print on the menu" we were told). No b-day treat, no check -had to hunt it down. Other customers came and went. Went in for a few drinks and an appetizer. It took 10 minutes to be greeting by the bartender. He was busy pouring a Guiness which he stopped mid pour to spoon head off a Guiness which is a travesty. Then it looked like but took him 30 minutes to fill a growler which made me shake my head. Bar staff here need to be trained badly. Their house beers tasted like homebrew and they had 6 empty tap lines. Who's running this bar? Got fried calamari which was good but it was served with cheese on top of the marinara which is unheard of and you couldn't even dip the calamari in the sauce without spooning out all of the cheese. My family and I have attended their thanksgiving buffet for the last two years. It was for reservation only, we were seated as soon as we walked in. The spread was ample, delicious and hot. It did feel a little understaffed as finding out waitress for rolls took a few minutes. She was very polite and pleasant, just busy. A renovated corner house on Main Street in downtown Westminster, metered street and lot parking. Open, aired bar and dining rooms with high dark ceilings. Large industrial fan overhead in bar area, cool feature! I've never eaten here on a regular occasion but would definitely try! read more

Delicious food and friendly staff! The crab imperial is delicious!!!! It is one of my favorites!! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! They have brick oven pizza and a HUGE selection on tap! I love the beer selection there. I would highly suggest Johansson's. It is phenomenal!! read more

We went for a birthday dinner on a Wednesday, it was pretty awful. I had the rockfish that was weird and bland, my potatoes were cold. My husbands food was cold and bland. My son had to tournedos and they were also not great compared to other times we have been. The quality was definitely not what we had come to expect. The service was mediocre at best. For half the cost we could have gone to a steak house chain and had a better experience. The desserts were good though, hence the two stars. The ambience was what was expected. Went to Johansson's for brunch with my groom. The brunch was beautifully displayed with great breakfast options! The biscuit with cream chipped beef was so good. Reminded my of my dad. My husbands omelet and my over medium eggs were perfectly cooked and seasoned! The potatoes were yummy! Didn't eat much of the lunch items. The smoked salmon was fresh and buttery and the drinks were yummy! Dessert pastry bar plentiful. Service was good. And it was $45 for two of us- that part I don't understand... :) We will return! read more

Was told "there's a wait" I said, "okay, can we get a ballpark idea - 60 minutes, 10 minutes" to which she responded "how am I supposed to know how long people will take to finish their meal"? Fair point, but somehow every other restaurant I've visited has figured out a way to give me an estimate. Once seated, we ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees (pizza). The pizza then came out before we received our drinks and appetizers. Beer, which is their own microbrew, was flat (no carbonation). Throughout the meal, we never received follow up service for our drinks. Pizza was terrible. Burnt on top and too much sauce. Far from artisanal pizza - think Pizza Hut meets Tombstone. Not very crowded but enough to make for some conversation. This place seems to be the center of the town and is a good spot to stop for something to eat and drink. Had a reservation for 8 for a birthday dinner, my son and I were walking towards the front to get candy out of the machine and a " woman" later found out she was the manager which made it even worse made the comment " more damn babies". A employee heard the comment and walked up to me and said I'm so sorry for what my manager said to you that was uncalled for and I asked to speak with this so called "manager". She finally came up to speak with me and lied to me over and over until she finally admitted to her nasty comment. I told her we were leaving and she didn't seem to care one bit. This was our first time there and drove almost an hour to get there. I'm truly disappointed and can't believe anyone but more important a "manger" could be so unkind. It was so obvious that the couple at the bought me a beer as they close their check. The spicy calamari was not spicy and bought to me cold. The hot wings was not hot, but in fact salty. Mrs P and I went for brunch today, and it was so-so. For starters, the ambiance is very nice--part old bar, part sun room with the latter getting plenty of light. The vibe was perfect for a Sunday morning. Service was great too. Our server checked in just right--not too little, not too much--and he was friendly without over lingering. Coffee was decent--not great, not bad. Mrs P had mimosas, which weren't watered down. The food wasn't bad by any measure--but it wasn't particularly noteworthy. I sampled biscuits, chipped beef, hash browns, a sausage link, roasted beef, smoked trout, and shrimp. Mrs. P had lox, a brownie pancake, mac and cheese, and some of the same fare as me. --The biscuit, chipped beef, and mac and cheese were as if they'd come from a mix/box. The hash browns were fine. --The beef was well seasoned and roasted, but it wasn't prime rib. It was very good albeit a bit tough. The sausage link seemed to be locally supplied and was gamy. --Lox and smoked trout were solid. They were adjacent to chopped red onions (which needed an ice water bath beforehand), capers, tomatoes, cocktail sauce, and lemons. The shrimp were ok but weren't deveined. --The brownie pancake was very sweet, which I suppose is the point. Overall the food was ok and in great abundance. The value seems to be the range of choice rather than the quality of the food. If we go back it'll be for the mimosas and overall vibe on a sunny Sunday morning. read more
