Bark Avenue Pet Supply is one of those places that I have driven by hundreds of times, but had not stopped at until recently. One of the puppers had a birthday and wanted to go there, so we did! They have an awesome selection of healthy items for your furbabies! So many high-quality ingredient foods and treats! They also have a great variety of bones, toys, and training tools! I loved that they have human-grade cupcakes and other baked goods for four-legged family members! I didn't take the liberty to try any of the treats, but one of the helpful ladies who worked there told me that she tried them. A trip to Bar Avenue will most definitely lead to happy doggies! I used to love this place until today. I arrived at 8:58 clerk at counter made no effort to start to open door, I left because I couldn't wait returning after an hour. I was charged twice on my card for the dog food I special ordered. Manager said that the pending charge would "go away", but hasn't yet. I felt they were rude...after spending thousands at the vet, groomer and not to mention the free advertising I've given them over the yrs! Perfect place for all my pets needs. We feen Nutrisource and Bark Avenue Pet Supply is always stocked. If you communicate with them they will make sure their order your preferred flavor of food so you won't show up to an empty shelf! The employees are always so nice and happy to see the dogs when we bring them in. Thanks to the employees, I've discovered two new treats that my dog absolutely adores. VERY expensive. For example, Steve's Real Dog Food (20lb Beef) is over $160 here! It's $119 at Fetching Dog in Scottsdale (rare for anything in Scottsdale to be cheaper than a Mesa store). I find everything else at this store is similarly overpriced. They often screw up special orders. read more

The following was sent to the owner of Bark Avenue along with an Excel spreadsheet of the products purchased along with the various dates that they were picked up from the store and what was still pending pick-up. I NEVER received a response from Dr. Ainsworth nor any reply from Bark Avenue. It saddens me and, at the same time, angers me that this occurred. Dear Dr. Ryan Ainsworth: I can remember how happy I was when I first started going to and purchasing from your Pet Supply store. The staff was friendly, helpful, and quite knowledgeable. The variety of products available was amazing. I was very grateful when you would have very large discounts and, at times, your staff was kind enough to hold the frozen food for me while I made room in the freezers. Unfortunately, the last few experiences this year have been, least to say, frustrating. Here are a few things that have occurred: (1) having placed an order and having been informed that it was ready to pick up, arriving only to find that which was supposedly put aside for me was not available and then having to purchase the same product in a smaller bag just to get by until the original product arrived, (2) having placed multiple orders on line on various occasions, and receiving a call that the product was not available and, therefore, I needed to make a substitute last minute purchase, (3) having been called to pick up an online purchase which had already been picked up, (4) having notified certain staff that I was going to pick up frozen products that I had purchased and were being held for me [again, for which I have been VERY grateful] and being charged again for the products, (5) quite a few of my last purchases there (the Stella and Chewy, Primal and Instinct frozen patties) must have thawed out at some point before my purchasing them and were re-frozen (they were stuck together and oxidized-brown instead of the bright red color that they used to be). For that reason, I started ordering the OC Raw which were in MUCH better condition when I opened them. And, by-the-way, I informed your staff of this on more than one occasion and the problem persisted. I happen to live 30 miles away from your store, but I continued to be a loyal customer for my past two dogs as well as my present one because I prefer supporting small businesses as opposed to large corporations and, especially, a small business that was exceptional on many levels at one time. I, myself, am a small business owner. I am lucky to have a friend that lives less than a mile from you (who, in fact, told me about your establishment many years ago) who has been kind enough to pick up many of my orders. After having sent two emails to Mr. Ben Dillon concerning the pending products for which I had already paid (please see attached) and not having had any response, I decided to do a little research and I have found another store much closer to my home. Another small business that I am happy to support. Whatever changes in staff and administration that has occurred over the past year and, possibly, due to the pandemic, has left my dear friend that recommended your business, and me, very disappointed with our interactions with your staff as well as the many mistakes made on their part. As the owner, I would hope that you would be happy to hear from a customer about his or her experiences and grievances to possibly assist you in making appropriate changes for existing customers. I have deleted my past reviews of Bark Avenue and now, I do not plan on rewriting an honest review until I have pondered this further. I am also hoping that I am given some sort of compensation for the products that still have not been picked up. Even though I had e-mailed Mr. Dillon that I was going to pick them up, each time that I went there they were not released to me without paying for them. Love this place! Went there recently to get some food for some picky dogs. Rick gave me a bunch of samples and I was able to decide on things that my spoiled pups would like to eat. Went back today and got more help from Ben. Everyone there is very knowledgeable about the food and has lots of samples that you can try to make sure it's something your dog or cat will like to eat. She looked at my credit card and ID and said it should match. That is an ongoing battle with Wells Fargo for the past ten years, btw - they haven't been very good at issuing me a new card with my married name. Nevermind that my AZ DL has my maiden name as my middle name with my new last name, so you can clearly see the that I am the person, anyway, I digress. I told her that it's been a battle with Wells Fargo. When I was first on my quest for the perfect dog food for my Miniature Pinscher (before I realised he was allergic to cooked meats, different story for a different day!)m this was one of the places I checked out. It has a fun selection of toys, collars, beds, bowls, shampoos and other things that aren't really necessary to the survival of your animal. A decent selection of raw feeding foods, and a HUGE selection of quality kibbles. The ladies here used to be very friendly but I think that now that they keep winning "Best Pet Store In Arizona" type awards it has gone to their heads. Came into Bark Avenue after researching online and finding that they carry the brand of dog food our dog likes. They also sell it in the 40lb bags. This store is bright and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a wide variety of dog food, treats, toys and other accessories. The cashier was friendly and engaging, and was rather amused that we were buying a 40lb bag of food for an 8 pound mini dachshund. Well, this way we only have to buy a bag of food every 6-8 months. While we were there we looked for a new leash, but found out they did not have a retractable leash in extra small. Oh well. No big deal. We will definitely be back for our dog needs. read more
