This place wins something. Worst bar in Dallas. Olivia is the most unprofessional bartender I've ever encountered and I'm a bartender! I watched her cuss out several guests which is never an okay thing to do in a customer service position. I see that many people on here agree that the 20% service charge that is automatically put onto your tab is ridiculous especially since the bartenders are so rude! Great service, not so great food! Last night was my first time going to Barcadia. I think they only had one server, and the place was pretty packed. In addition to having one server, I believe they only had one cook. I ordered a Space Invader drink, and it tasted AHMAZING!! I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was TRASH!!! The chicken wasn't seasoned. It was dry like cardboard, and it was EXTREMELY tough!! I believe the server's make was Travis. He was really good!! I opened a tab as soon as I got there, and the server kept me informed, checked on me, and ADDRESSED ME by my name each time he spoke to me. It is times like this that make me so, so frustrated with the deluge of trivial 1- and 2-star reviews on Yelp for minor issues, e.g. cold food, slow service, forgotten modification, or, the most odious of Yelp reviews: "no parking: 1 star". My experience at Barcadia was the single worst experience I have ever had at a bar or restaurant. It was marked by malice and/or incompetence. I was overcharged by two shots and a beer, and the bartender was beyond stubborn and insisted someone ordered them on my tab, even though he eventually acknowledged it wasn't me or my girlfriend! He stood by the fact that someone ordered them, and I had to pay since they were on my tab. He knew he was lying because he could not look my in the eye, and he hid in the corner of the bar once he summoned the "manager" or "owner" to come address the issue. The manager/owner, who seemed like neither, had been sitting outside with someone else and came in without a mask, on the offensive, accusing me of essentially being a grifter. I told him to check the security tapes, and his response was that he didn't want to spend all night in the office reviewing footage of the evening. I had been there for maybe 45 minutes, and all I had ordered was two shots and two beers, one set for me and one for my girlfriend: something the security cameras could easily capture. In any case, I got the sense this was either some conspiratorial move to cheat me, or they were too proud and "alpha" to concede that they clearly made a mistake. I worked in the service industry, and it is an easy mistake to make to double tap something on the POS, which is very clearly what happened, either accidentally or intentionally. It seriously felt like being gaslit. To avoid their increasing aggression, I paid the tab, as the owner/manager seemed to be looking for a physical confrontation. I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card company and reporting them to the TABC for not wearing masks. read more

We had the most fun ever at Barcadia last night! We were worried it would be crowded with not enough games like some people said in reviews. Nope! We went at 10:30pm on a Sunday and there were just like 5 other couples there meaning we all had plenty of space to play and never had to wait in line. And get this - on Sunday the games are free! We had no idea so that was an awesome surprise. We also got a DELICIOUS pizza and beer and vodka capri suns (so fun) the bartender was super nice too. It's an open air bar but with the fans and it being late at night it wasn't hot at all. Super fun decorations for photo ops and great music too. Couldn't recommend it more and if we lived here it would be our go to spot! read more

Stopped by with my brother for a quick drink while our friend was doing some shopping at a nearby boutique. This is a chic bar and they have a fun selection of games. Ms. Pac Man + $4 You-call-its + Super Mario Bros. + huge patio + Giant Jenga + cool bartenders + Skee Ball = a very happy Melody! Um... I'm gonna need some more quarters. I met a big group of people here for a friend's surprise going away party. I was super excited when I walked in to find a wall lined with old school arcade games like Galaga, Donkey Kong, and the ones mentioned above. Sahweet I say. I walked outside to greet my friends amongst a sea of random bar goers partying together. Ah, peace at last. It was nice to see a few khakii-sportin' dudes enjoying bevvies among cute tough chicks with tattoos. The patio is enormous with enough picnic tables to sit loads of different parties. The fans were going at full speed, making it a very enjoyable atmosphere. There were a few people playing Giant Jenga behind our table, causing mini heart attacks every time the pieces would come crashing down. I kept thinking a car was smashing into the bar. I slipped through the garage doors back inside to find two heavy-wristed bartenders who were quick at their game. The bar was packed, and the two of them though very busy, had their shiz on lock. I didn't have a chance to grub on the food, but my friends inhaled the delicious smelling, thick and golden french fries that floated over to our table. I live nearby, and always notice that the patio is packed when creepin' past. Visit on Sundays from 11am-3pm when bottomless Mimosas are $12, or $4 each. They also offer $4 Bloody Mary's made with 3 Olive Tomato vodka, and fresh fruit Mojito's. Do I need to mention the $4 you call its that last all day? Didn't think so. See ya Sunday. read more

Oh Barcadia... how I miss theeee. Let me count the ways. I have been in love with you since day 1 and there is just no fighting it! I have recently moved out of the Dallas area, but whenever I was a resident this was my most favorite bar... my Cheers you could say. You won't find old school video games of this caliber anywhere in town. Pac man, Street Fighter, Phoenix, Q-Bert, Pinball, skee ball & more. They have a great patio area which features larger than life jenga & connect four games! The food is great also, if you don't mind splurging, considering not much on the menu screams healthy (mini cheeseburgers, fried PB&J, twice fried potatoes). The brunch is really good also... especially the $12 bottomless mimosas and the range of fruit flavored mojitos. I would recommend Barcadia any night of the week... but beware, the weekend nights this place is one of the hottest spots on Henderson, so be prepared to fight the crowd! Also... check out their nightly specials to save a buck or two. I miss this place like crazy and don't know how I will ever replace my favorite bar and the wonderful people (Brookie!!, Ma'am, Rawrbyn, Whitneeezy, JMo & Lolo) who run it! read more

*** PARKING HINT *** (for Barcadia or anything else in the surrounding area) - just drive down the street a little bit to the Newflower Farmer's Market. Public, free, and uncrowded. If your last visit was several months ago you probably missed out on the giant connect four, and theyve finally replaced the eons-old used wooden blocks for giant Jenga. I still think this is the best game they have when played the way its supposed to be - building it up TALL by leaving only the center block on each row and not taking the easy way out. For the arcade games Qbert and Asteroids are still king ... until they decide to get Mortal Kombat. It looks like the menu has changed also, as the Texas Melt I had on my first visit is gone. But there's still other items that go well with the lengthy beer selection. The Mario, which was kind of a cross between a club and a muffuletta, was good although they should ease up on the butter and take the time to melt all that cheese. And if you're a sheltered suburbanite, get ready to be shocked at the people watching with all the tats, goth fashion, and stretch ear piercings the size of a golf ball. read more

Had an odd run in with the "owner" last night. Google said they closed at 2 but they ended up closing at 12. Cool no problem. Our group was all service industry so we understand. We got our last round right around 12 then the "owner" came out shortly after and started taking drinks off the table and told us to leave. When we told him we had just received our drinks and needed a couple minutes, he got a bit hostile and threatend to call the police if we didn't leave immediately. Well well well, Barcadia you surprised the hell outta me! I love trying new things, and with Kiery D. in tow, it's always going to be fun no matter what! She turned me on to this little gem ALL THE WAY down Henderson, and for that I love her. Upon first glance you think what could really come out of a bar lined with arcade games, but with time you began to hone in on your inner child and before you know it, your trying to beat your high score at skeeball. That's if the girl who does the splits standing up isn't showing her girly parts to the guy who walks around asking the bar if they can do the splits. That will detour you from your game quick! That's beside the point though, the food here is amazing! I think we ordered the whole appetizer menu between the 5 of us. We literally had everything except the hummus. The coup de gras for me: fried peanut butter and jelly ( somehow every place I visit brings out the fat kid in me) I was skeptical, but it was soooooo freeeking good! But so was everything else....this was bar food at it's finest! AND I love when a bar has blue moon on tap.....yummy!! ONLY issue I had was the music, albeit they threw in a little Biggie, JJ Fad, and Eazy E, they could've done a little better with the music selection but all in all, great time! Another place I can't believe I haven't reviewed yet! I love Barcadia. I've been frequenting since opening night a couple years ago. What's not to like? Great beer selection, good food, and skee ball! This year I had brunch there with friends for my birthday. Lots of yummy things to choose from. I had the Huevos Rancheros (white corn tortilla topped with an over easy egg and tomatillo salsa). FYI to vegetarians: The beans were veggie friendly but the rice is not. Weird. That actually worked out wonderfully, because then I got the has browns and what's brunch without hash browns? Other recommendations from my friends for brunch: The breakfast sandwich (a ginormous croissant with eggs, cheese, and sausage or bacon), French Toast, and the Barcadia Burger (stuffed with pepper jack and green chilis, served with home fries). Wash it all down with $4 Bloody Mary's (and boy, do they know how to do spicy!) or $4 mimosas ($12 carafes). I came here for a birthday party, and it was a cute bar to hang out at. It's a small bar, but they have a decent size patio as well. Bring quarters and play some retro games! I tried to touch up on my pinball skills, but I still suck. Haha. The drinks and service were pretty good. I tried the queso, and it was actually decent. I did however order the seasoned beef quesadillas, and they were REALLY good. I tried the chicken tenders, and those were great as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the food here. Lots of guys playing foosball while their dates stood around looking bored. If was fun sitting on the deck watching everyone pile into Uber mini-vans! Great place to see a nice selection of panties (gentlemen would let the ladies sit in front seat while they climbed into the back, but these were the same guys playing foosball while ignoring their dates). Who can beat playing Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Galaga while drinking a beer - Not I! Ventured here on a Sunday and super chill crowd. Definitely the grab a beer and watch a game crowd. No one was playing so ended up playing and used up all my quarters. it's fun. But I think the place should incorporate more video games throughout all the seating areas and maybe have a few machines you can sit at. Also upgrade a few because they looked beat up and more skee ball. I think it's missing something in the decor a bit and has a lot of potential. read more

We came here for fun and to escape the 104 degree Texas heat. We stayed a couple hours because the atmosphere and staff were so welcoming. I've been here a couple times before on a weekday, but on the weekends... don't bother! My friend and I had the most unpleasant experience in the women's bathroom due to the "bathroom bouncer," which in itself, is absurd. There are only two stalls in the women's bathroom. On this night, only ONE stall was open for the entire bar. Thus, apparently management thought it was a good idea to put a bouncer right outside ONLY the women's bathroom. When inside the bathroom, the dude TIMED you on his phone from the moment you went in to the moment you walked out. Further, if you took too long according to him, he would share this information (the time) with all of the drunk bathroom go-ers in line. You can see how this would be problematic. My roommate and I went into the bathroom to use the mirror, while waiting for the current occupants of the stall. The total time was SEVEN minutes, but we were waiting inside the bathroom for FOUR. As soon as we get out, the women were barrading us for "taking seven minutes," cursing at us, causing an absolute scene. Obviously this is NOT the bar's fault, but quite frankly, I found it VERY uncomfortable for some man to be timing me, right outside the door, while using the restroom? I felt harassed and I probably won't be back here. I've never seen such a thing. Potentially, get a girl bouncer/employee to do this if this feels necessary (it shouldn't). Secondly, they may be over-serving alcohol here... a girl peed on my boyfriend's foot (while standing up). This wasn't even by the bathroom! He was simply standing in line to play Galaga. It's not very dark in this bar, and this girl was clearly absolutely hammered/should've been sent home. read more

Barcadia... or what I like to call the "Broke Ass Dave and Busters," is a nice little dive bar that embraces the gimmick of an old school video arcade mixed with a bar. Growing up in an era where video arcades were cool to go to, it was nice to see a bunch of my favorite games like Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Afterburner, Dig Dug, QBert, and Tron under one roof... too bad some of them cost like a damn dollar to play and didn't even work, but one of the workers was cool enough to give us a bunch of free games for our troubles. There's also Skee(t) ball if you like that crap as well. The outside patio is a nice touch because there's more space to get your drink on and play some family favorite games like Giant Jenga and Giant Connect 4. This is fun to play with a bunch of friends... but even more fun when you're drunk. Make sure to you have a sharpie in hand so you can write something witty or retarded on the blocks. However, just make sure NOT to touch the Jenga piece that says, "By touching this Jenga block, you now have AIDS!" You're welcome by the way. What I liked? - Drink specials everyday... Sunday was $4 jack and cokes, vodka/cranberry, wells, drafts, etc. - Friendly Staff - Free games because of busted arcades. - The DEEP FRIED PB&J Sandwich... If you want a homophobic experience, I would definitely come here! I was being denied entry because my shirt didn't have sleeves, which I thought to myself hmm... well i'm not walking into a church? So I think my shirt is fine! There were plenty of women wearing the same thing I was wearing, but it's because they saw a man wearing the same thing, dress codes all of a sudden apply. My friends and I wanted a low key night: meaning jeans but still cute. We went to Barcadia for food and drinks. I ordered the Deep Eddy bucket which can only be ordered if you have at least 3 people (it's also $32). Well worth it! It has every flavor Deep Eddy vodka and tasted like punch. It was sweet but not overly sweet. If you and your gal pals are looking for a one and done drink to pop off the night. This is it! After a few sips we could tell it was going to hit us hard. They give you about 6 straws if you want to share it with more people too. I ordered the happy hour spinach and mushroom quesadillas. They were a good size and tasted pretty good but nothing spectacular. I wasn't a fan of the salsa though. I also ordered bacon cheese fries which were perfect once the tipsy was hit but it isn't loaded with cheese. If you're the type that wants every fry covered: pick a different option. Barcadia got its name because it's a bar and and an arcade - go figure. Game prices range from $.25 to $1. There's a change machine next to the ATM in the back. The games are pretty fun. We played air hockey, pool, and skeeball. They also have Mrs. Pack man, life size Jenga outside, and quite a few other old school style arcade games.
