A little taste of the French Quarters right here in Dallas! I love the aesthetic of this place, the rooms have decorations and features that really make you feel like you are at a bar in New Orleans. They have indoor and outdoor seating even on the balcony with little heaters for those chilly nights. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders were friendly. This place is like a maze and easy to get lost especially while drunk. We went on a Saturday and stayed until last call at about 1:30am which I thought was a bit early but whatever. My one real complaint is that they only have single bathrooms instead of stalls so there is always a long wait and its really not enough bathrooms for how crowded this place can get. read more

I'm usually a cocktail lounge kind of person, but if i want a regular, casual bar in downtown/uptown area, this is my #1 choice. My favorite drink is the frozen whiskey and coke (I think they have it most the time) and regular glasses of bourbon are a few bucks cheaper than other places so that's a great benefit as well. They do have daily specials, even on Friday and Saturday. There is an outside sidewalk patio as well as a second floor patio so its a great alternative to some of the "hot spot" patio bars if you want a low key night. There are small nook seating areas creating 10+ private areas for your small group to hang out, as well as an area with pool and sometimes karaoke. read more

This has become my crew's newest spot to hang out, have a drink, chill and just have a good ol' time! First off, the location is not the best, I mean McKinney is such a busy street, you either valet or attempt to find a spot on the street. It's not TOO much of an inconvenience. Don't get frustrated, just take your time, you'll find a spot. We visited The Quarter Bar a lot during the 2014 NBA Finals, so the atmosphere was great. The last night we went, we got a great table on the rooftop, right in front of the flat screen, fan blowing, wind blowing, just a nice day. The bartender, he got to know us well from previous nights, so he made sure we were good and out waitress, it took her a minute to warm up and relax, but when she did, she was cool, joked with us, made sure everyone was good. The food. OMG. Talk about "brings the pig out of you"! We ordered the Mini Royales (beef sliders), the Voodoo Fries (my favorite), the Buffalo Wings, the Chicken Quesadillas and the Pulled Pork Pizza. So I finally got the chance to visit The Quarter Bar thanks to a HH outing with a Meetup group. It's located in the beautiful Uptown area where parking can be a hassle but hit a couple corners & you will find a spot. Luckily, I was able to park just a block over. Upon entering you will be quite shocked by how big the place is. They have an upper & lower level with bars & seating areas. The upper level has fans to keep you cool, however they didn't have them on last night & we were all sweating bullets. I guess we should've asked them to turn them on but we were having so much fun we just got over it & kept napkins near by. Around 8:30, they started playing music which I figured was to set the vibe since it was starting to get dark. Throughout the night we noticed there weren't any servers which was unusual but when we asked the bartender he said they had 1 but she didn't come in to work. I said well I definitely could've helped y'all out! I'm so quick to be around the bar I might just actually start bartending lol. Drinks: (2) Tequila & Cranberry wells + H2o -- major shoutout out to both the bartenders both glasses were STRONG & just right. The total came to $6.50, not too shabby if you ask me. Food: Voodoo Fries ($8) & Cajun wings ($8) -- one of the guys ordered the wings which he stated came out HOT, his words "I think my tongue just got 3rd degree burns" LOL! I almost fell out out after he said that but after they cooled a little he let me try some. The wings were cooked to perfection w/a nice crunch & a little kick. They even brought out some Louisiana hot sauce to put on them, say whaaaaa?! The Voodoo fries were sooooo good. I think about 8 people ate off that 1 plate. So my final notes, I noticed they had changed their HH specials (based off my HH list lol) the drinks did go up a $1 & certain food wasn't 1/2 off so be sure to ask or review their website before going. The wings came in an order of 6 for $8. They were good BUT I would not pay $1.33 per wing, no ma'am. However, it never hurts to splurge a little to get the full experience of a place. Even if you can't make it on Wednesday they have some kind of food special every day of the work week! It's prefect vacant compared to other happy hour spot! Color me impressed! I absolutely loved my experience at Breadwinners and by connection, The Quarter bar. We went in around 1230 on a Saturday as a party of four. The place was packed (its quite tight in the front) so we put our name down at Breadwinners and wandered over to Quarter bar. While separate establishments they appear to be co-owned because they share dining space and have a joint soundsystem. This is great cause when your table is called they announce your name on the loudspeaker. It was a quick wait as we had some tasty mimosas (good ratio of champagne to OJ) but then wandered back over after hearing our table called. The quarter bar was your standard uptown scene but I liked how spacious it was despite the business of it all. The mimosas were poured in whiskey tumblers which was a little weird but hey it got the job done. I loved the former chapel vibe the place is proud of. We gathered at the front near the bar but I really appreciated the sofas farther back with televisions for guest viewing. While we didn't have to wait long for our table at Breadwinners I would def go back to the Quarter bar in the future for late night drinks. read more

Ah ha, the Quarter Bar. Like French Quarter, got it!! I tend to expect bars and restaurants to have somewhat of an inflated, pretentious attitude in Uptown, which is fine if that's your thing - but the Quarter Bar is refreshingly casual and welcoming. It's kind of weird and festive with plenty of decor that pays homage to New Orleans. There's many many rooms, stairs, and turns that make for great conversation. 3 levels worth! That means you can come back again and again for plenty of exploration and you have the ability to create a bit of privacy if needed. Do you want to sit on a couch, a barstool, or a pillow on the floor? Quarter Bar has it all. You can kind of just find the environment you want. Inside, outside, whatever. They've got some great specials listed on their website; different things going on different days, like 1/2 priced pizza on Monday and $2 wells/domestics until 10 PM on Thursday. They have a whole menu of NOLA inspired drinks, so that's fun, and their tiny wine menu is relatively comprehensive. And okay, I don't know where the kitchen is in this place, but their food menu looks awesome. I want Spicy Bleu Cheese Potato Chips next time for sure. Often utilized as an overflow bar to BW's during the weekend afternoons, this lounge is one heck of a spot at night. The Quarter Bar is a mutli-room venue, a place with little nooks and crannies where the scenery changes as often as the jukebox out front. I appreciate the happy hour drink specials throughout the week and they really do have some of the nicest bartenders in the biz. The crowd varies from the yuppies of the neighborhood to the sports fanatics of the weekend, you just never know what you're going to find here. It's a comfy place as well. The couches and the outdoor patio area make this place pretty ideal for a date spot, as well as just a relaxing venue to grab a drink. As funky as the decor is, it feels rather homey, I suppose that coincides with the theme next door, but the Quarter Bar is very much it's own place. The prices, especially with the specials are pretty good for the area. In addition to the $3 well drinks on Thursday evenings, there is $2 drafts between 4-7 on the week days. I heard there is half priced appetizers as well, which definitely doesn't hurt. My favorite part of all of this? The self-serve water pitchers near the bar. Those babies are life savers. read more

These fries were: A M A Z I N G These fries are ethereal goodness, overall on par with our other favorite loaded fries, the kimchee fries at BB Bop on Lower Greenville. This version offers up a perfect balance of hot McDonald's-diameter fries, Siracha, queso, jalapeno gravy, crispy pork belly, and scallions.
