Our entire party noticed the manager/man in charge started treating this employee as well as the hostess terribly. We felt really bad as the employee was so helpful and kind with us. We approached the manager and he was very short with us. Three members from our party actually told him that he cannot treat his employees in this way. Solid dinner spot right on the water in Sausalito. We came on a Sunday evening and were seated right away (they don't take reservations). Views at this restaurant are amazing and we had a scenic sunset view of the water as we dined. Note - Parking is a bit tight around here (we were lucky to get a spot) so would suggest also looking at the lots nearby as well. We ordered the Calamari a la Plancha, Kale salad, and 2 pizzas (Mushroom & Prosciutto). DEFINITELY recommend the Calamari a la Plancha and Mushroom pizza. The calamari had a great spicy kick and Mushroom pizza just melted in your mouth. Would pass on the Kale salad - Nothing wrong with it but felt a little basic and lacked a ton of interesting flavors. Open during COVID with strict social distancing and spaced tabling enforced. First time dining out since Shelter in Place went into effect back in March! I was nervous, but their strict enforcement of facial coverings and limited seating (outside and spaced more than the required 6 feet apart) went a long way to ease my nerves. The outdoor seating area is beautiful, overlooking the Sausalito harbor with views of the house boats glowing after sunset. The food was incredible! We ordered 3 dishes to share: calamari a la plancha, a mushroom pizza and their chicken pizza. I would repeat everything we ordered. I like the chewy, wood-fired texture of the pizza crust and the fact that all our food was brought to the table piping hot so I knew it was freshly prepared. I also ordered their version of a Moscow Mule (aka. the Marin Mule) and it was light and refreshing. The food and service was great. Nice location on the water. The pizza was really tasty and the crust had good flavor. We also got a cream of mushroom soup which was delicious. The only thing I would say was that it was a little pricey especially for the pizzas because they were definitely on the smaller side. Came here for lunch. The parking lot is pretty small but luckily we were able to snag a spot right in front of Bar Bocce. Otherwise we would've parked at the Sausalito Library and walked on over. There are no reservations so we had to put our name/number down and walk around a bit until they texted us when our tables were ready. We got the kale salad, kale pizza, and pork sausage pizza. The kale salad was fresh. The 2 pizzas were equally delicious. Not too greasy and I loved the thin crust. Prices were reasonable given the fresh ingredients and portions. Ambiance: I've been to this spot before covid and during covid. I can tell that there's a lot of changes that has been made including placing tables far apart, taking limited people, sanitizing tables soon after, no crowding up by the bar inside(it's great that people are not allowed inside). All staffs wear masks and gloves and follow necessary protocols. I signed up the yelp waitlist like 20 mins before I arrived and we just had to wait by the beach when sipping our drink while waiting for our table. It was probably 10 mins wait and then we were seated. All I can say that this place is a great spot for people who love the views of the beach and harbor. Also recommend joining the online yelp waitlist so you don't have to wait long. About the food: The appetizers tiger shrimp and crispy artichokes were great, however the portions are small plates(not shareable). The shrimp came with two bread slices of sourdough and the sauce was so good (not spicy for my pallet but still very flavorful. The artichokes were very crispy and light. The eggplant Parmesan was so good that I had to think about recreating at home. The burrata was fresh and so was the marinara. The eggplants were crispy and nicely cooked. Warning! They try to force you to tip. So at the point of paying for our bill we wanted to pay with cash and then the rest on card, since it stated that we only could split the check two ways. Our server denied our cash stating "I can't take cash, the owner doesn't like taking cash because it makes transactions difficult with our pos system." We didn't want to be difficult so we decided to just pay with one card and then it came time for the tip... We wanted to leave a cash tip but Christina was adamant on us leaving a tip using the card we had paid with. We had put a certain amount for tip since she was practically forcing us, and she continued to push that we needed to tip more. My fiancé spoke up saying that it's a "suggested tip", and she proceeded to get upset snatched her toast pos system and said "Well then don't come back, you guys have never worked in the food industry before". As someone who currently DOES work in the food industry, as well as a few other people we were with, we know not to treat or talk to customers that way. Don't expect a good tip if your customer service is bad as well as your attitude. It is very unprofessional to force a tip on customers especially while pointing at suggestions and being stubborn. Before this interaction she had a slight annoyance in her voice when we politely requested ranch, she stated "we don't have that." I understand some restaurants run out or done carry certain condiments but it's as simple as saying " I'm so sorry we don't have ranch can I offer you a different condiment?" We had to run out of there with the pizza in a box to get to the fireworks. I just can't believe to wait an hour for a small pizza and then have no cheese on it. After five minutes of walking in, my friend's service dog (a husky) barked once and very quietly, and a staff member approached us and said "if he barks again, you're out" and proceeded to walk away. She told our group of six, "you don't look like you'll order off the dinner menu so I can't sit you by the water view". Bar Bocce is the kind of place to stop by for a drink with friends or to take out of town guests for average drinks and beautiful view. I say average because they have frose, beer, and an "Aperol Fizz", but this is not the place to go if you are looking for a craft cocktail. If you can't get a table, you can order drinks at the bar and enjoy them on the dog-friendly beach. If you don't want to sit on the restaurant's patio or wait for a table, you can bring a picnic blanket or camping chairs and sit on the beach. Worst experience at a restaurant. Hostess told us we could sit and just order drinks. After ordering those drinks the waiter asked if we wanted food, we said no just drinks. He clapped his hands and told us "you will absolutely be ordering food because it's our policy that you have to eat". Then he yelled at the hostess, told us we had to give up the table in less than an hour and made a scene in the restaurant. We took 2 sips of our drinks and left. There are plenty of amazing restaurants and bars in Sausalito and this is no longer one of them. To top it off, they don't have liquor only some kind of 1/2 proof option and you can no longer play bocce, the court is covered in tables. Ate there on Sunday, St. Patrick's day, at a time between lunch and dinner. We were seated right away inside. Hostess was nice and friendly. We've been before but it's been a few years. Same great setting, kind of upscale beach shack/road house vibes. Everything clean, etc. Ordered two appetizers: blistered shishito peppers and Calamari a la Plancha. Peppers were ok. Not too greasy or oversalted. I like the baby shishitos better and these were full size. Just my preference. The Calamari a la Plancha was good. Calamari in a small bowl of pearl couscous with a slightly spicy red sauce. For us, the red sauce was a little too sweet. Main courses were New England Clam Chowder with Caesar Salad and the Speck Ham Pizza. Clam chowder was good, but broth based and and not very creamy. Caesar Salad had pretty good greens, but only the leaves, no romaine hearts. Nice light dressing which is our preference. Pizza was a slight disappointment. The "speck" ham was full size slices of prosciutto. The burrata not generous. "Lollipop kale" was...kale. The sauce was *very* sweet. We thought maybe there was an ingredient we missed, but it was the sauce. The slices were hard to eat with the prosciutto slices, toppings just slid right off the pie-couldn't get a good bite. The crust was nicely blistered though and tasty. Service was good at first and then dropped off the face of the earth. Waited about 20 minutes or more for the pizza. Couldn't find anyone to let us pay. Had to get the bartender to help us out. Nice guy. Everyone was nice, just hard to get their attention. Overall, don't think we'll be back. read more
