This is our go-to place for weekend breakfast/brunch! Service is friendly and excellent; indeed, equivalent to some of the top restaurants I've been to. I have been coming here on and off for several years now. I always get the make your own omelette (which is delicious). The coffee is very strong. The main thing that recommends the place is that the manager will remember you, welcome you and will probably remember your order from the last time. The staff is always so friendly and accomodating to our family. So worth the drive across the Bay for the Veggie omelette, papas and toast. A very generous portion- probably enough for two if you are a light eater but of course good enough to down, solo. Saturday mornings can be a little busier, might be worth it to call ahead of time to get your name on the waitlist but if not, either way their breakfast is worth the wait. This place is fantastic! We discovered it through Yelp. Both of us had fried chicken and waffles, and it was so delicious (and served with honey!) The other thing was every single person in there greeted us with a smile, our server asked our names so he could use them and talked with us about their plans to expand their dining room, and even the young man who was clearing dishes chatted with us for a little bit. My bf and I wanted to get brunch on a Sunday morning and found Bajis Cafe on Yelp. We figured we'd give it a try and got seated almost immediately. We liked the diner vibes and were excited to try the food. After about 10 minutes, we got water and at no point were we given a menu. We figured we'd wait another 20 minutes since we're generally pretty patient when it comes to a thin staff. After 25 minutes, no one came to our table, checked in with us or gave us a menu, so we left. I MISS Baji's! This is the best place to eat! I love it here. The Diet plate with a lettuce bed and a hamburger patty- among other stuff on the plate, which doesn't sound appetizing, but it IS! Their breakfast is awesome and their sandwiches (especially the pork chop sammie) is the best. For some reason not many places serve a decent well priced breakfast near MV. It was our first time at Bajis today, and here is why I will be back. -serves Pete's coffee and not dishwater -for sausage lovers they have four or five options (my hubby had the LA hot sausage and said it was great) -I love crispy bacon and this place delivered on that request...and not only that but it wasn't doused in oil. -eggs were cooked perfectly -have the option of grated hash browns or potatoes -everything came out hot -service was great from start to finish Don't be fooled by the modest decor. The place looks old from the outside, but I'd rather they spend money on food than decor. At the end of our meal, a server named Manuel came and asked us if it was our first time there. It seems that the servers know most of the people that are in there, and that is always a good sign to me! We confirmed it was our first time, but wouldn't be our last. Eh. Was good, not great. I came here for breakfast with a friend this morning and didn't really have any expectations. Just wanted a good breakfast in a diner-like atmosphere while I caught up with an old friend. We both ordered omelettes. She got a South of the Border and I got a South Palo Altan with avocado. Both omelettes were pretty solid and they were awesome about bringing us extra salsa and even some Mexican salsa that was made for other things on the menu when we asked for something spicier. My omelette was good - it had jack, jalapenos, and some other vegetables in it. Everything tasted fresh and decent. I got breakfast potatoes with it and wasn't overly impressed with those. To be honest, they were a bit dry and didn't reek of freshness to me. I also got an iced coffee but they just poured hot coffee over ice which is one of my coffee pet peeves. Makes it super watery. Service was outstanding though. 5 stars for that. We even got 10% off (not really sure why, I think it was because we were both young females to be honest lol). I'd come back, but wouldn't come back running. But overall, a nice diner to hang out with all of the awesomeness that the diner experience entails. A good solid place for food. I'd definitely come back. I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich and hubby ordered an avocado and cheese omelette. I thought my dish was ok and the amount of fries that accompanied it was adequate as well. They got my request for no salt on the fries -- woo hoo! Rarely do places get it right. Hubby's omelette was ok. He enjoyed it enough, but I think he was so hungry he didn't care. He was upset that he asked for hash browns and was given home fries instead. However, he was too hungry to care until after, when he looked over at another customer's breakfast and said, "That's right -- I did ask for hash browns!!!!" Finding the restaurant was easy and the next time I go to Palo Alto Medical Foundation or El Camino Hospital, I'll go there for a bite to eat if I'm hungry. read more

I've come for breakfast a few times now and I will keep coming back. These guys run a really good cafe. The service is fantastic and friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. The Peet's coffee is outstanding, and this is a big deal to me. So many cafes serve weak or lackluster coffee, but at Baji's you get the real deal, and the servers are there to keep it topped off and hot as much as you want. I've had an omelette breakfast and a skillet breakfast on two separate occasions, and both times the food was hot and fresh and tasty. The menu has a lot to choose from so there really ought to be something for everyone. I'll enjoy going back soon and I'll continue to try new things on the wonderful menu. I'll also love to get that nice hot cup of freshly brewed Peet's coffee delivered to me within no time at my table. read more

I don't get the love. I stopped in early one Sunday morning, and it was deserted. There weren't even crickets chirping. And still the waitress was slow. I ordered biscuits and gravy, which Yelp describes accurately: "meh, I've experienced better". The biscuits had to have come from a can, and so did the gravy. It was only through liberal application of salt and pepper that they acquired some flavour. The eggs were adequately prepared, but it's not that hard to get eggs-over-easy right. The best thing about the meal was the orange juice. If I were with someone and they wanted to come here, I'd be willing to try it again, but I probably won't come back on my own. My current go-to place for a good greasy American breakfast is A Good Morning at San Antonio and El Camino, and I love the breakfast burritos at Los Charros on Dana in downtown Mountain View. read more

I had a early Saturday morning workout at Shoreline and after burning a ton of calories, I craved breakfast food as my reward. Bajis was only a few minutes drive away so away I went. When I got there, the place was very quaint with booths and tables symmetrically set in the front room. I at first didn't know whether I needed to order first and then sit down but our friendly waitress/cashier told me to sit anywhere I wanted. In terms of diner selection, this place fits that title appropriately. They have the typical breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and toast plus the meat for another choice for additional charge. Then, there's skillets, poached eggs, waffles, pancakes, and a few Mexican breakfast options to round out the menu. Tempting as it was, I managed to order a spinach, mushrooms, onions, and jack cheese omelet staying clear away from the beckoning allure of chorizo and pork sausage. The food came out quick and my iced tea was refilled promptly many times. During my meal, I noticed that this place must be a locals favorite because people casually talked after their meals and some customers were "regulars" when greeted with enthusiastic hellos from the staff. Before I forget, their orange juice is freshly squeezed which my companion ordered so next time when I go, I'm getting a tall glass of that! For a change, it's nice to go on a weekend morning to a nice local diner where there isn't a line going out the door(Hobee's and Stacks) so save yourself the time and relax if you are nearby here. My mother works in Mountain View so she goes here all the time with her coworkers and wanted me to try it. They most definitely have that mom-and-pops family business feel, which I love for breakfast places (they're also the first place I've ever seen that has shower in their bathroom LOL..so the restaurant could have very well been a house before!) When I went on a Saturday morning, the restaurant was a bit understaffed (it will be crowded especially if there's an event going on at Shoreline) but they assured us they get us in and out as quickly as possible. I love hashbrowns more than country potatoes so I went with an omelet (Southern Palo Altan - which had linguica so I HAD to get it haha). I was starving and our server overheard so he offered to bring out my toast first which was so nice! The hashbrowns had that lovely golden top that could only come from a butter (yum) and the omelet was a decent size and tasted fresh and not overly oily. This little breakfast joint is nestled in a more industrial part of Mountain View where you wouldn't think to find a diner, but the place was poppin' on a Sunday morning and with good reason -- the food and atmosphere is friendly, warm, and delicious! I'm not gonna lie, I only came here for the chicken and waffles and didn't really bother looking much at the other items on the breakfast menu. The chicken was DELICIOUS!! I got 2 drumsticks (dark meat ftw) that were definitely brined before and had this super crispy skin on it. I prefer my fried chicken NOT breaded, so this was right up my alley. The waffle, however, was a bit disappointing. It was flat, doughy, chewy, and a bit difficult to cut into. If they could up their waffle game to something crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, this chicky wizzy woulda been a home run. However, the chicken is good enough to warrant a repeat visit in the past. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak with a biscuit since we saw so many gravy-slathered pictures on the Yelp page. Although I only had a bite, the empty plate at the end of the meal proved that this was a solid dish. The coffee is also from Peet's, so it's a good, solid brew! read more

Not superficially and over-the-top. Just friendly. I got eggs over easy, home fries, and toast. Everything was good, though some of the potatoes were undercooked. At $6.50, this isn't as cheap as I was hoping, however. Most omelettes will cost you $9-10. The place offers $5 early bird specials M-F 6-9AM. The food isn't awe inspiring, and normally I would rate it at 3.5 stars (3 given), but the service earns Bajis' the extra yelp star. read more

This place was hard to find. The stretch of Middlefield it's on is pretty industrial - lot's of auto mechanics and body shops, a Toyota dealership, a bar. Not much going on in this neighborhood. BF and I are always on the hunt for a regular, cheap, moderately healthy, local breakfast place for our sleazy weekend tryst refueling. I think we found our regular spot. More than the food my biggest reason for this is its proximity to my apartment, the huge menu, reasonable prices, and friendly and attentive staff. The space is much larger than expected, and they have free Wi-Fi, which I will check out next time we go - probably this weekend again. We ordered the Independent Corner omelette with corned beef, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, sliced olives and cheddar cheese. It came with, toast (whole wheat of course!) and country potatoes. I wasn't thrilled with my omelette. It lacked flavor (and I don't like to add salt to my food). The corned beef was bland, and not as tender as I think it should be - but not tough exactly. Hopefully when we go back I will enjoy my choice more and bump my three stars to four. It would be great if this place can continue to overcome the challenge of it's location. read more

Oh My Yum Oh.... My sweetie Gary took me out to breakfast last Saturday morning. I thought we were going to our usual place Ihop...don't get me wrong I love Ihop, but I'm going to have to say other wise since I have tried Baji's. It is so delicious and just satsifying. I had the Cafe Omelette and I ordered a side of buttermilk pancakes just to see if this place really had what it takes to come back...not only that but to test other items on the menu. I was so blown away by the food. The service wasn't all that great it could use major improvement, but the food it's self was all worth the wait. I've always wanted to have a server ask me, "Do you want your regular?" And this place does! The staff are very friendly, accommodating and attentive.
