    Tomato mozzarella sandwich
    Kristin R.

Mmmmm it was all so good! We walked in at 11am on Saturday morning and I am surprised they still had as many items left as they did. All of the breads were sold out, but the pastries below were about 75% full. Within thirty minutes, they were all gone! Plan to come as early as possible if you want a full selection, especially on the weekends. Seating was available both inside and outside, though it is on the smaller side. The kids meal came with half of a sandwich, half of a crepe, and a drink - they loved it. I got the tomato and mozzarella sandwich which I also enjoyed.

This is by far the best bakery place in west austin. Everything is delicious. The almond chocolate croissant is my favorite.

Stopped by this bakery today for a quick snack and coffee. The place is in a sort of strip mall, but inside it's cute with a few small tables. Would be a decent place to work, and fairly quiet. Service is quick and very friendly. I got a chocolate croissant to go. It was good but a little less crisp than I'd like. I brought it home and heated it a bit with a toaster oven and it was perfect! The latte I got was also pretty good. I'd need to go back to try the food, which looks promising and also not too pricey. Definitely could use more bakery/cafes in the area! This one's pretty good - try it out if you're in Bee Cave!

What an amazing find in a shopping center that you would think is only for offices. This bakery is something that you would find in France. Everything is handmade from their breads to their pastries to their breakfast. If you're in bee Cave, you should hunt this place down and try their menu. They only have a short day and it ends at three so try to get there early. Their croissant sandwiches with bacon, egg, and cheese are divine as are their pastries and their desserts. If you're looking for macaroons, you've come to the right place. We give this bakery five stars.

Qui, qui, et qui! Yes! Although a bit of a drive outside of Austin, absolutely worth it. Femme, the owner from France, knows what she's doing. Our intention was to get a simple traditional Parisian baguette sandwich, and we walked out with that in addition to cafe and lattes, as well as baked goodies like peach tart (amazing). It's worth asking the staff about their favorite choices, the one choice we made on our own (pan au chocolate - chocolate croissant) was actually our least favorite because the others were just SO good.

Butter croissant was so yummy! French onion soup is the best I've had, not too salty with just the right amount of onion, cheese, and crunchy croutons. Latte & coffe are also on point too.

September 2024 Love this place. It reminds me of Bread Furst in Washington, DC. Can't wait to go back. Indoor seating is limited and quickly fills up. But there is plentiful outdoor seating. The place was packed by 9am with more folks walking in as I was walking out. Everything is packaged to-go. Staff was friendly and helpful of first-timers. There is one menu close to the counter. But it can be difficult to see given the way the entrance and queue is structured. So I recommend looking at the menu online beforehand to get an idea of what you'll want to order. Chausson au pomme: Light, flaky, and delicate pastry. Well-filled with apple goo. Texture is reminiscent of applesauce. But the flavor is delicate, showcasing natural apple flavor. No cinnamon, so unlike an apple pie/tunover. I could eat a whole tray of these. Definitely recommend. 10/10 Raspberry Tart: Interior custard is a bit grainy but has nice notes of vanilla on the nose. Crust is nice - delicate and crumbly with a hint of sweetness. Raspberries are coated with a mildly sweet syrup. Altogether, the raspberries provide a pop of contrast against a soothing background of vanilla. Reminiscent of raspberry cheesecake. It's good, just not something that I personally would crave or seek out. Worth a try though. 7/10 Peach Tart: Wasn't a very good peach - bland. Custard is grainy and underwhelming. Peach "jelly" had some nice flavor. Puff pastry was flaky and delicate. I'm confused by the coconut - not sure it really adds anything. Overall, this would probably be great if it had "peachier" peaches and better custard. Until then, I'd skip this one. 5/10 Parisien Brie Hot Panino: Awesome panini. It's about a foot long and is packed with Brie. The ham shines through as a savory compliment to the Brie. The tomatoe adds much needed acidity and brightness to balance out the heaviness of the meat and cheese. In fact, I'd probably ask for extra tomatoes for next time. The bread is amazing - a n intoxicatingly crunchy exterior and a chewy inside. Great dish. Definitely recommend. 8/10

A little shop near the hill country galleria mall area. Came later in the afternoon for coffee and a little snack. Service was great. She was helpful and nice. Got an iced latte which was decent. Go a loaf of bread and 2 mini beignets. The beignets texture was like a donut and nothing like a true beignets The little shop has a few tables and a water station. They stop making cookies food around 2PM I believe so anything after that is their baked good or dessert.

Do you ever eat at a place a lot and enjoy it so much that it seems like a sin that you haven't reviewed it yet? For me, that's Baguette et Chocolat. We've had the coffee, the tea, the macarons, the croque madame, the bread, and the paninis. Everything food here is a 5/5 and priced appropriately. The macarons are the best I've ever had anywhere. When we tried them for the first time, we couldn't help but think "oh, this is how they're supposed to taste!"--each one really hits you in the face with its specific flavor and they're a great gift too. But my personal favorite is the Parisian Panini, a pressed baguette with melted brie, ham, and tomato. It's so filling and so simple and delicious.

    Chocolate almond croissant, must try!!

There's an empty lot next door for parking as well as some street parking, but both are pretty limited and hard to come by. If you can Uber, I recommend it. The outdoor tent setup is really pretty and feels like a romantic date night and the main dining experience, while the inside is much more basic, but air conditioned. We were seated indoors which was good since it had just rained and the weather was quite muggy. Our unfriendly waiter (so French) came over right away to take drink orders. Our group consisted of one beer drinker, one cocktail sipper, one soda guzzler and one water drinker. The drinks were very good. For appetizers we started with the grilled octopus and escargots, both of which were delicious and the stars of the meal. For entrees two of us ordered the steak frites, also ordered bolognese, and côte de porc. Nothing was bad at all, but nothing really stood out either. For dessert we tried the crème brûlée and chocolate ganache, which were fine to finish the meal. If you go, definitely get the grilled Spanish octopus, that was the standout dish for me. For a party of four, our bill came out to $360 plus the tip. I'm glad I finally tried it, but with the higher prices and kind of average food, I don't feel a strong urge to come back anytime soon. Maybe in good weather I would uber over for some drinks and great appetizers.

You don't have to be French to hate Justine's…read more Too bad to have to leave this clip joint even one star. Wait! I give it one star for the amazing gall to offer this offal up as French food! And for rolling their eyes, and their practiced Gallic condescension. Austin used to have a couple of decent French restaurant/bistros: Chez Nous was run by people from Marseilles, and Chamonix, and other parts of France. It didn't compare to French restaurants in France, but it was a decent value, and it was way better than nothing. Fabi & Rosi was probably more German than French, but with a good Euro mentality. Both Fabi & Rosi and Chez Nous died in the Covid plague. The best French resto in Austin by far was Aquarelle, which when it opened had a skilled chef in the kitchen from Aix-en-Provence. Austin probably wasn't ready for real French food at the time, and it quietly folded a few years ago. That brings us to Justine's: when it opened ca. 2009, it was a good value. The escargots were good, the onion soup was good, they served Delice de Bourgogne cheese, and the bread was good enough to mop up the garlic butter sauce. The other offerings were always meh, and the place was loud enough to remove the enamel from your teeth. I had skipped it for a few years until I got back from a trip to France, and wanted a nice French dinner. So I chose to return to Justine's. The crime and the pity of this place is that it is owned and operated by French people, and they know real French food, and they are deliberately abusing the public with their food, service, and prices. Americans generally associate French dining with arrogance, condescension. and laughable price points: if that's your expectation, then Welcome To Justine's! We ordered the radishes served with butter as an appetizer, which was not served with bread--which is sort of the whole point of eating radishes and butter. When we pointed this out, they charged us $5.00 for a half-baguette of bread to go with. Their bread! Their bread! Oo-la-la! Every French or Italian person knows that bread is firm and crusty on the outside and pillowy and delectable on the inside. What we got was the usual squishy, spongy stuff they sell at Walmart (not to cast aspersions on Walmart). THESE PEOPLE KNOW BETTER than to serve bread like this, and at this price! The rest of the meal was downhill--and EXPENSIVE, laughably overpriced, like the stereotypical snotty French dining experience. Before you eat here, do yourself the favor of reading the plethora of one-star reviews before submitting your own. And while we're here, the local food critics LOVE this place--has anybody writing these reviews ever been to France? Or Quebec? So many good restos in Austin have died, ill-served and neglected by the local 'food experts'. Let the buyer....wait: QUE L'ACHETEUR SOIT PRUDENT! THAT'S as close to France as you'll get with THIS joint.

My first 1 star experience was when my wife got food poisoning and when I went to inform the chef the next day he told me she was sick all night because she probably drank too much wine. Here is the reason for my second 1 star experience from this restaurant. Went today for a noon reservation on Mother's Day. Firstly, tons of kids here, no kids menu of any sort for Mother's Day. Their option was a grilled cheese with fries, which we were appreciate for, but why would you not think to have options for kids? Fruit cup, small burger, etc. they have these options during normal operations. Second, no one answers the phone here. I called 10+ times between 10am and 11:45am to request indoor seating. By default, they don't answer the phone nor do they at tiny grocer. One of the legs at the table they sat us at was so off balance that our drinks were spilling when someone would add pressure to the table. We had kid with us, so we ended up using three napkins in full cleaning up the spilled water. They missed putting in our order so, every table around us was served before us. We didn't get our food till complaining multiple times. Even after complaining tables around us continued to get their food first. To hold the table over I asked for fries to be delivered, something that should take minutes to prep, took another 15 minutes. Our food finally showed up at 1:15pm. We asked for to go boxes and even the boxes took 5 minutes. What is going on over here? I spent $20 at tiny grocer getting so many snacks for the kids because the food was so delayed. The entire table (minus the two toddlers) ended up leaving with zero food in our stomachs, but extremely frustrated. The manager comped our meal, which was very kind of him and he expressed tons of empathy. Classy move 100% This place is expensive and they just don't have it together. We have been a few times now and the menu items just sort of leave you wishing they were less creative if they're going to be so mediocre. Croque Madame was served open face with a burnt sunny egg (egg yolk completely torched hard and dry). Bechemel was runny rather bland and it looks like a blind person did the plating on the line. Just sloppy and rather unappetizing. The French onion soup was hardly that. It was just brother with a piece of cheese covered toasted dunked in it. The onions were neither cooked nor carmelized and overall it felt like they were trying to stretch a batch from the day before with water and some chopped onion. Flavorless to say the least. The side of bacon was $8 and seemed like the most mid store bought bacon you've ever seen. Paper thin and burnt to a crisp. And don't get me started on their terrible coffee offerings...the place needs an overhaul.
