This lis not your best version of a local contractor. Hard to schedule, hide behind a lot of scheduling email announcements, timing windows, emails have long terms about prompt payment " or else...." terms which remind loyal, local customers who would otherwise choose them, that they care more about themselves than about you. Have struggled for 5+ years with their shenanigans. Definitely not like Pat & Jerry Nelson from Aqua Containment, the OG family business which really loved their customers, it went out of business during Covid. If you have an optional contractor, you should certainly consider it. read more

It feels like all the Backflow companies want to just take your money and expect you to trust them to do the test for you at some point before it's due. Oh, but you have no idea whether that's this week, next month, 4 months from now - who knows! Not Backflows Northwest. I called them to make sure the rates were accurate, and to get an idea of when they would do the test. The guy was super nice, and he said he'd do the test on Wednesday, and they said they'd leave a note on the door when it was completed. They did it a day early, and left the note on the door just like they said. This was exactly the ideal experience in my opinion, so I strongly recommend them! read more

Their technician showed up, presented me with a piece of my equipment that was now broken (wasn't before they arrived) & said he could NOT do the test because it was broken. The company then billed me over $75 for the test that was never performed. No matter how much I argued or what proof I provided they demanded payment. Additionally, I subsequently had to pay another company to fix what they broke and to perform the test. If I could rate them negative 10 I would! read more

Had them repair a couple spots in my yard. One in the back where I had to call them back 3 times and charged me each time for the same repair. When I had my system winterized by someone else this past winter/2025, they found that another repair they had done at the main box connecting to the cities line had been leaking this whole time explaining my higher water bills this past summer. Backflow northwest has a chaotic scheduling and billing system. I moved to a new home and scheduled a backflow test. When I scheduled the backflow test, they told me to prepay for it and I did. Although I called to confirm the new address the day before the test, the technician went to my old house and surprised the tenant. Even more, 3 months after the test, they emailed me to ask if I have paid for the test or not. I don't know if they have sent my report to the city or not because I didn't get a copy. Definitely won't use their service again! read more

I had a back flow preventer valve installed, as well as some other irrigation system upgrades. I was given a fixed price for the work. The quality of the work was below average and the electrical work of connecting the sprinkler system valves to the control system wiring was flat out defective. When I was invoiced for the work (which was never completed) the price was significantly higher than what I was quoted. The invoice was very crude and lacked any detailed information that would allow for a critical review of the charges. When I asked for detailed information, I was told no. I was given a firm fix price for the work, but then invoiced on a time and materials basis, except that there were no details on the T&M pricing. I don't recommend Backflows Northwest. read more

As I look for a back flow provider I think of this company and how they stopped service to so many on Mercer island the company they bought serviced contracts and cancelled the ones that were with more than one sight. I called the old provider to get a referral as back flows has no referrals to offer. Not a healthy way to do business. read more

Northwest services us for our back flow every year and we just had an issue pop up at the restaurant and they wouldn't even come in to check out the issue. One person told me they were busy at a job site so I called another and he told me the original person I called was next to them at the office. Regardless, they "overnighted" a part that they thought was the issue on Monday that hasn't been in all week. After trying to reach out to them all week as well, I just got a response saying they don't have available parts for 2-3 weeks. I reached out to another company and they came out in an hour and fixed it in 15 minutes. read more

We didn't have any issue working with them for the past year where they provided a group backflow testing for our HOA. However this year, they suddenly went MIA. They came out, marked our backflow as failed. I tried reaching out to them multiple times through phone and email for the past couple of weeks where they're just unreachable. Once a couple of service addresses contact information was updated, they came out as scheduled and performed the tests, handled the billing, emailed the results to our members and filed them with the city water department. I would leave 0 stars if I could. They took over a local backflow business I had used for years and unfortunately BNW did not have the manpower or skill to manage these new clients. As a property manager I deal with at least 40 different service providers regularly. 99% are fantastic. Backflows NW is by a mile the worst service provider/contractor I have every worked with over 15 years. They can't return calls, promise they will show up and don't, can't fix things properly. All for what should be a very straight forward service. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a year. I know it's hard to get employees, folks don't show up, front desk isn't always up to speed on issues, etc. Never left a google review before. Steer clear! read more

Backflows northwest tested our water systems and they failed to tighten a backflow adjustment valve screw, leading to dripping water damage over time. I have a written statement from the plumbing company, stating clearly that the water leak was caused by backflow tester not tightening the adjustment valve screw properly during the backflow test. I communicated this to Backflows Northwest and their response was stunning: they tried to question the cause of the leak while acknowledging that there was a leak from the backflow valve in a last ditch effort of trying to weasel out of any liability. At the same time, and in good faith, I had booked them to perform another backflow test, assuming that they would stand by their earlier work and make things right, i.e., reimburse for the water damage repairs caused by their faulty work. However, when asking for a response to the written plumber statement, this company explained that the only person who can reply had suddenly gone on vacation and they are unable to respond. Needless to say, I'd stay away from this company at all costs. read more

Our townhome complex used Backflows Northwest for the past two years, and everything went without a hitch. The office staff helped us turn around the scheduling in a relatively short timeline, as our testing was coming due. They even reached out to the city on our behalf to let them know the testing was scheduled. The technicians were on time, friendly, and worked efficiently. All paperwork submitted to the city shortly after testing was done. Billing was simple, and they billed each unit individually in our group to make things even easier. All readings were within limits, he updated the inspection placard, and then he left a testing summary for us on the door handle. Backflows Northwest and Lakewood Water District collaborate for this great service and allow me to use automated bi-monthly billing. I first contacted Backflows Northwest via their online scheduling system. After a few days with no response I decided to call and schedule. This was 18 days before my testing was due, so I was scheduled for "sometime in the next two weeks." After 14 days of receiving no indication that testing was done, I called and was told that I had been scheduled the previous week but due to an emergency with another customer my testing was not performed. I had not been automatically rescheduled. Since my deadline was approaching, they offered to schedule me ASAP and file an extension with the water company on my behalf. After three days with no evidence of testing, I called the water company and was told no extension had been filed. At this point I called again to cancel my service request. Bottom line, make sure you are given an actual date for service. I was very happy with the ease of scheduling, the fact that I didn't have to be home for testing, and the friendly folks I spoke to over the phone, but lack of follow through is very disappointing. read more

I received other quotes from other companies but Backflow Northwest response time and price was great. I was able to make an appointment within a day or two. Our technician was Scott R who is awesome. We are new to the area so Scott explained the reason for the test. He was very professional and did not mind answering any of my questions. The testing was really quick. They send the report to the water company as well. So, the only thing I had to do was make an appointment and pay. Kevin came out and retested the backflow and found the problem of the city flushing out their pipes. Fixed it but said it would probably would not pass next year do to the age of the backflow. We decided that we would go ahead and replaced the backflow on Kevin's recommendation. I've gone thru BN for the last two years, and will continue to do so. Their promptness and ease of service (you're not required to be home) is great for a busy schedule! The first time I wasn't home and they left the results at my door, the second time they came I wasn't feeling well and wasn't disturbed at all, they came, did the test, left results, and that's it! Easier the better when it comes to getting things like this done, especially with a very random schedule. They also have great customer service and work with you to make sure it's done quickly. I echo Lucy L. Backflows NW has looked after our annual testing for several years. They contact me (even before I get my notice!) and schedule the inspection. We don't have to be home. They test, record, and submit the paperwork to the city. Done. Very reasonable cost for the service rendered. I won't go away as a customer unless they go away as a service company! read more

Based on a failed test by our annual tester, he recommended that we replace our backflow assembly because of the age of the device. After having another company not show up and chalk it up to a "misunderstanding" about the date, I contacted Backflows Northwest. I spoke with Steven who discussed possible repair or replacement of the assembly. We scheduled an appointment for Tim to come out on Saturday morning of the Memorial Day weekend. Tim arrived at our house promptly before 8 am and after glancing at the device, didn't think it looked that bad. He suggested testing it and it passed! He saved us hundreds of dollars and gave us back several hours in the day. We truly appreciate Tim's honesty and genuine concern for his customers. Terribly RUDE and irresponsible company. try to avoid. wish there were 0 stars option. so back in April, it was time to annual back flow test, we scheduled one with them, asked them what they need from us. they told us they will take care of everything, we don't even have to be at home for the test. that's great right? then in may, we got a notice from the city saying we did not finish our back flow test, so I contacted them again, didn't answer the phone. then I contact the city, and was told I had two irrigation and fire sprinkler back flow tests, and the fire sprinklers were not tested. I was confused and called the company again, without giving out any of my info, I asked if they'd take care of everything, the operator said yes, they will take care of everything for $45. then I specifically asked, if they would take care of the irrigation and the fire sprinkler test as well, she assured me again, they will take care of everything for $45. it was Thursday and the deadline from the city was 4pm next Tuesday, so I told her the situation and ask for a test before that, she said she couldn't. well, then I told her to get a supervisor and finally we had an appointment down on Tuesday 10AM. at this point, I was OK because everyone makes mistake right? then it comes to 10AM Tuesday, the technician came to knock my door, I opened the door and he said he's testing the back flow, I said ok and went back to grab my glasses, when I came back out (within 2 minutes), he's gone, without asking what I have and without entering my garage (where the fire sprinkler thing is). hey, I scheduled this test just to test fire sprinklers, and you left without even asking or looking at it? seriously? then I called the company third time, and thankfully the technician came back later in the day. ok I had to stay home for this long, but at least our water won't be shut off. the above is irresponsible part and here comes the rude part. I received a second invoice asking for another $45 for "annual testing of back flow assemble". I thought it must be a mistake because we have paid for the first invoice $45 before they even came back. so I called them, again. and they still asked me to pay for this $45, well, what about "$45 dollars we take care of everything"? guess what, operator defined 'everything' for me, she said, 'everything' means 'everything from trip fee, filing fee, paperwork fee, etc', and irrigation is not in 'everything' for fire sprinkler, and fire sprinkler is not 'everything' to irrigation, and we do this for 'everyone', so I guess we might have a different understanding on 'everyone' right? because I asked couple of my neighbors (same development, same builder, all built within last 12 month), they all finished the test for $45. at this point, the women on the phone was being rude already, won't even let me speak, won't let me finish my sentences. I didn't want to argue on the phone, so I just said, if we come down to business next year, I'll pay $90, but this year, I asked for a quote, you give me $45 without asking how many devices I have, just plain said $45 for everything, it's you mistake, I'll not pay $45. guess what, she said, "if you don't want to pay $45, fine, I'll write it off. but I'll note on your account, bad customer, we will never do business with you again", and she hangs up immediately. yeah, I guess finally we can be on the same page, I will never do business with you too. read more
