Once they had me in their system, they started contacting me in advance to schedule the test each year, which I really appreciate since the city notice doesn't usually give a lot of turnaround time. This year the city surprised me by sending the notice a month early, and I was on vacation when the notice came. This left me with just over a week before it was due. I contacted 5 Star Backflow Services and they were able to do the test just a couple days later. After the test they always send the report directly to the city within 24 hours. Their reminder system is not aligned with municipal requirements, and their billing and accounts receivable processes are fundamentally flawed. I was repeatedly told by staff that a prior invoice had not been paid, despite the fact that I retained written confirmation showing the payment was submitted through their Intuit QuickBooks link and acknowledged with a "thank you for your payment" email. Despite providing this documentation, the company unilaterally canceled a scheduled service appointment the day before it was to occur, citing non-payment. When confronted with proof, the explanation shifted to a claim that they "never received the funds from the credit card company," which is not a defensible position to place on a customer after confirming receipt. These outdated business practices, inconsistent internal communication, and lack of basic financial controls introduce unnecessary risk for clients. While I had initially intended to continue using this company, the operational failures and resulting service disruption make them unreliable and difficult to do business with. There are other providers who can deliver the same service with greater professionalism, transparency, and reliability, and I will be pursuing those alternatives going forward.

Communication was poor, paperwork was never left under the doormat and results were not submitted to the water district until I contacted her multiple times. After numerous emails over the past week, I was forwarded the paperwork which had "sample" written on it. My address also appeared to have a 4 where there should've been a 9. I was told that it was correct and submitted to the district. Upon calling the district, there wasn't a record of it. All submissions are done online and there are things in place to make sure addresses are correct. I contacted Linda again and was forwarded a screen capture of the submittal of test results. The test date was incorrect since she had come the day before. Results were not submitted until they were a week past due. I am still not sure if she actually tested since she was questioning whether or not she tested the right house.
