VERIFIED THE BEST! The City of Mercer Island sent notice that we needed a backflow test. The notice included a list or 40 companies that were approved by the city. I loaded all 40 of them into my Claude AI program and asked the AI to tell me which one was the best. Which one had the highest ratings and had no bad feedback. It came back stating that 5 Star Backflow was the BEST of the 40 approved companies! I then called Josh, the owner of 5 Star Backflow, and he and his team worked around the clock to help me because I was up against a deadline. His communication with us was spectacular and thanks to him our water did not get cut off. We even had a complication with the backflow valve being broken, but he got it taken care of and he went way above and beyond to help us. I've been using 5 Star Backflow Services for my required city backflow inspections for years now and I've always been happy with the service, so it's probably time for a review. Once they had me in their system, they started contacting me in advance to schedule the test each year, which I really appreciate since the city notice doesn't usually give a lot of turnaround time. This year the city surprised me by sending the notice a month early, and I was on vacation when the notice came. This left me with just over a week before it was due. I contacted 5 Star Backflow Services and they were able to do the test just a couple days later. After the test they always send the report directly to the city within 24 hours. Agreed to service. Gave a wide window between 10-1. No call ahead of time. From the time he rang the bell to pulling car out of our driveway, he waited all of 2 mins. Looks like they are too busy for new business. Just texted me saying "Sorry, nobody home. Got to go". No offer to reschedule, no courtesy call. Thank you Joshua for going above and beyond to help me with my backflow mess. Whoever installed my backflow system had placed cinder blocks underneath and obstructed the ability for access. After digging for hours and actually damaging the pipe Joshua is more than helpful and instructing us how to repair.. What would have cost us $600 only took us time and energy.. and a few dollars for hardware store supplies. After the pipes were fixed the back flow system reinstalled Joshua came out for a second time to test the backflow.change the filters made the necessary repairs cuz it failed the first time, submitted the paperwork and now I'm good to go for a year. He was also able to contact the water district that was requiring this process now as they did not issue me the number associated with my property. Update 3/17: So the good news is someone came and fixed our valve. Scott, who fixed it, said that whoever serviced it before left one of the test valves open on accident. I thought it was Josh but it turns out it was the person who did our backflow the year after Josh when I was out of the country. My wife and I got mixed up on dates so I would reiterate Josh is friendly and great at what he does. I had the great pleasure of running into Josh while he was in our area performing an annual backflow test for another customer. I mentioned that we had had difficulty scheduling a time with an approved contractor during the City's mandated window for inspection, but had not yet tried 5-Star Backflow. If I could give them 0 stars I would as Josh didn't perform annual backflow testing as scheduled. I scheduled an appointment for today in early January so I have been waiting a few weeks to get the testing done. Josh apparently showed up today, couldn't find the backflow assembly using the description of the location on the notice from the city, and left without attempting to contact anyone or see if someone was home to help him find it. After he had already left, he sent an email saying he couldn't find the backflow assembly and to find it ourselves before he would come back. I'm not sure why he bothered to show up, leave, and then send multiple emails about it instead of just trying to contact someone while he was here. I only scheduled service with him because it was on the list provided by the city and I would not attempt to use him again. read more

Josh is just an awesome professional! I contacted him about the sprinkler system leak, and twenty minutes later he is in front of my house investigating! We had severe leak, our HOA said it'll cost us $1000 to replace it (I was shocked) and they didn't even stop the leak. But Josh came in, stopped the leak with just a screw driver, and saved us tons of money. He was even trying not to charge me, so I had to force him to charge me something. Josh is very honest man who tries to help you as much as he can, suggest you what could be done better, will tell you his tips, he just truly cares!
