Let's bond over Indian Food shall we? I've been eating at this location for almost 14 yrs this fall and I can say with confidence that this is the best Indian Food around. Bold statement? Maybe. But I've had enough Indian Food to tell the difference in quality ingredients and consistently good food to make that statement. I'm also a creature of habit, so I tend to order the same thing when I go here lol. I will say I've tried both their lunch and dinner buffets and loved all the delicious sides and offerings on them. (I moved here almost 14 yrs ago and friends took us to another Indian place I believe in Clifton and I said, "This tastes just like Baba India!" In which my friend said "It's the same family." Anyhoo, I rarely eat inside but usually call in for pick up which is what I did this time. They do have plenty of seating inside for groups or if you're eating alone. The place is very dated and kinda dark inside, but it's clean and provides professional service. I always wonder why their building is so bland on the outside. Very very beige and old looking-BUT the food is great. Valpak coupons always have coupons for eat in or carry out. We get $4.00 off, just download the coupon and show it to them at the register. 4*'s and not 5*? Here's why: The price has nearly doubled to $40.00 for the same order I've been getting all these years and the container sizes have gotten smaller as well as the rice. Rice isn't expensive and it's at least 1/3 smaller. That being said, I may not order as often, but they deliver on flavor and quality which is worth the splurge.

    Chicken Tikka

The chicken tikki was incredible--tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of flavor. Every bite was delicious. The service was phenomenal as well--attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Can't wait to come back!

For more than a decade, I have patronized Baba, mainly ordering the Saag Paneer and occasionally Garlic Naan when I have dined with friends. Their recipes are consistent and good. Today, I added the Fish Pakora appetizer to my typical order, and it was absolutely delicious! While I could go for less heavy on the salt, the flavor was all there. I ordered it for carryout, but when I arrived home, it was still hot, flaky, and fresh tasting. Baba is the closest Indian spot to my home that actually serves fish pakora, so they will definitely begin to see me more frequently. Yum! Also important to note is that the older gentleman who took my order over the phone and attended to me when I picked up my order was gentle and kind. I wish they would have had more people like him in their earlier years because his type of energy is what gives a place a "family-owned" vibe (insert heart emoji).

I've been coming to Baba India with my dad since I was a child - so most of my life! Personally I think this is the best Indian in the city. Their rice is unique to any other rice I've had because they put saffron in it and I think it really adds something special to the rest of the meal. Their garlic naan is very garlicky and has a good crispness to it. Some restaurants use too much oil and it makes the naan greasy but here it is just right. Their mango lassi is delicious - a smooth, drinkable mango yogurt with a hint of Rosewater. The Rosewater is used perfectly, as too much Rosewater can quickly be overpowering. Chicken tikka masala is the go to for both my husband and I, and I think Baba's is the best. It's very creamy and they give you tons of sauce (very important in my book) and it has a good amount of spices. Service is always excellent here as they are very attentive and quick to provide refills and check ins on your table. Highly recommend Baba for your next Indian craving!

Was recently reading an article about the best Indian restaurants in the US. Needless to say I was very happy to see one located in an area where I frequently travel for business. Finally had a chance to try it today and it did not disappoint. So happy I made the trip to Baba. Today I had the chicken korma. A beautiful dish, loaded with chicken, cashews in a silky smooth curry. The Paratha that I ordered along side was perfect...crispy outside with a nice chew to it. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try, will definitely be back for more

And I am soo happy I finally dragged myself in. I love Indian food, but Raja India (who I believe is owned by the same people as Akash down on 6th street in downtown Cincinnati) is closer and was always good enough. Additionally, the space that Chaska is in has been several Indian restaurants - none ever lasting very long. So, I was complacent and for that I am sorry. When you walk in you are greeted with the smell of curry spices and warm, red walls with black accents. On each table is a flower too. Getting to the good stuff, Chaska Grill has amazing Indian & Pakistani food. The flavor is just so much better than Raja's and I enjoy getting to see and take big bites of the ingredients (onions, peppers, chicken, paneer, etc.) I've gone back here about 3 times in the span of a week and a half it's so good. I've ordered dinner and I've had the lunch buffet - both of which were excellent. The lunch buffet food is all very mild so everyone can enjoy it. The selection at the buffet is also really diverse - another bonus. One of my new favorites is the Mixed Platter appetizer: 1 Vegetable Samosa, 1 Keema Samosa, 5 Vegetable Pakora, 2 Paneer Pakora and 2 Chicken Pakora (it's a combination of all their other appetizers.) Not only did I discover how amazing Paneer Pakora and Keema Samosa are, but I have a hard time picking between the appetizers - so why not just get them all? Problem solved. The family that owns Chaska is very friendly and really make sure that you're happy when you are there. When we were there for the lunch buffet they came over a handful of times to check up on us, refill drinks, and bring us more food. Parking is pretty easy - it's in a shopping center so there's lots of spaces to choose from. The interior every time we have been in has been spotless. There's really no reason not to go here.

Oh my goodness, I wanted to love this place. It's been around forever and I recall coming here in…read moremy very distant past. We planned to meet at 6 pm on a Tuesday. The place was empty and boy were we popular! LOL We still needed to wait for our third. We were visited a few times before she arrived. I really can't complain about attentiveness. The restaurant itself seems clean, but there was nothing extraordinary about the decor. FYI - other people did arrive while we were there. The entire experience was all over the board. The service was over the top, but certainly attentive. The food was good, but not great. We all ordered Dal Soup, and here's where things went slightly awry. Mark and I received our soup first. It was good. Another bowl of soup (?!?) arrived for our friend. It was THICK compared to mine. In fact, mine was fully liquid and hers was overflowing with lentils. THEN... another soup came out. We were so very confused we were still asking about the thick lentil soup (?) at the end of the meal. We were told it is supposed to be eaten with the rice, or whatever you might be eating. I'm still not sure I understand. I ordered my go-to, Saag Paneer. Mark and I split a Garlic Naan. The naan was great. The flavor, the temperature, the consistency.. it was perfect. My Saag Paneer was good, but when it was delivered the server called it something along the lines of 'Chicken Saag', which is not what I ordered. I mentioned I ordered Saag Paneer, which cheese, not chicken. She then told me it was Saag Paneer. Indeed it was, but can we compound the overall confusion for the evening? Yes we can. Mark had Chicken Tikka Malasa or something similarly named. Be ordered it with a spiciness of 5 out of 6. His review of his meal... it was hot (and he likes "hot") and that was about it. Flavor was either overpowered by the spice level or simply didn't exist. Either way, he was unimpressed... and he loves Indian food. It's really his review that brings us to a three-star review. I tasted one small piece of our friend's Tandoori Chicken. This was after she packed leftovers for her daughter. The piece I tried was small, tender and had a strong flavor of some type of sauce. I think generally the Tandoori Chicken was dry (meaning not wet), but there had to be some sauce on the plate. Bottom line... for us, Ambar India Restaurant provided typical Indian cuisine. And though the staff were super attentive, we found ourselves confused. The food is good and if you live in the area it's a good spot for Indian, though there are many options in the area. We hadn't been in decades. Our most recent visit won't bring us back... mostly because there are so many Indian options in the city. Ambar isn't one we'll need to come back to. Sorry, no pics.
