Hamro Restaurant is an extra special spot for me as it is the first place my baby sister and I got Nepali food together. She has since passed and I recently spent a day honoring her and doing some of her favorite things. Getting momos from Hamro Restaurant was one of them. She also loved the Nepali chai tea, so I got a cup of that. This time, I tried the steamed chicken momos. Sadly they were less flavorful than usual and the chicken inside was a bit dry. I am hoping it was just an off day for them. The Nepali tea was SPOT ON and perfect for the cold, snowy day. I ordered carryout online. My order was ready when I arrived and the staff person who cashed me out was very friendly. Hamro has done it again! The pork momo johl is delicious! I had to come update for one reason and that is the "chicken soup". If you're feeling poorly, this is guaranteed to fix you right up. I think it's a version of rasam, but I'm not sure. It's spicy and flavorful. I recommend getting some rice to put in it. 10/10 my favorite Indian place in Cincinnati! read more

My son suggested we try this restaurant as he likes Indian food. They also had Nepalese food too. Decided to try vegetarian dish - Paneer Makhani which is described as fried paneer cooked in a butter rich sauce and a touch of heavy cream. Oh my goodness - it was truly delicious! Even without meat, it was very savory and so full of flavor! I would order the exact same thing again. As a matter of fact, I looked up a recipe so that I could try to make it myself, but there were so many different ingredients including unusual spices that it wouldn't even be worth it for me. Flavors are on point! Enjoyed the chicken and pork momo we ordered as well as the aloo paratha and garlic naan. The Nepali tea was a tasty treat that I plan to get every time I'm in the area. Decor is a bit dated but the service was good. Worth trying if you're in north Cincy. read more

Let's get the negative out of the way first. If you're sensitive to capsaicin - Hamro cooks with a lot of it, and there isn't much in the way of ventilation. I'm ashamed to say that it seems I can't "hang" - my wife and buddy were unaffected, but I had to run outside hacking and coughing 20 minutes into our lunch. -1 star. OK, so obviously my math seems off, but listen. The Nepalese food at Hamro is easily 6/5 stars. Yes, I know that seems reductive and cliched, but even with inflamed lungs, I just couldn't bear to give this place anything less than 5/5. The saag paneer is creamier, silkier, and richer than a typical punjabi Indian restaurant's - different and just as delicious. The chicken tikka is tender, saucy, and thick. But the real showstopper were the momos. The chili fried momo ghar dumplings at Hamro are the best I've had anywhere. They convert Hamro from an obscure local food joint to a Cincinnati culinary destination. If you like dumplings, and you like spicy, do it. Drive your lazy bum up I-75. Your bum (and lungs) may regret it later, but you won't. read more

We came with a party of 10 because this place was heavily recommended by our co-workers. We shared the vegetable and chicken momos (dumplings) and I had the chicken chowmein. Full points to the chicken momos. The vegetable one was good too, but I'd pick the chicken one. The chowmein was amazing and the touch with lime was something I enjoyed. Again, I'd recommend the chicken chowmein over the vegetarian one because the chicken tasted better than the soya chunks. A couple of my friends tried the indian food, but they weren't very impressed. However, they did praise the garlic naan. The Nepali tea was really, really good too. read more

I drive by Hamro just about every day of the week. My taste for curry and all things Indian was piqued when several reviews were positive. I can't say that I have ever tried Nepalese food - it seems that the flavor profile is similar. I really wanted to try the Mo-Mo which offered a variety of stuffed dumplings - several styles of pork, chicken and vegetable options. This is definitely a place where you would bring several friends - sampling the different offerings always seems to go better when you're with people who share the same adventurous spirit. The portions are pretty healthy - it's always nice to have an abundance of good food for tomorrow's lunch. I loved the atmosphere - I'm thinking the music really sets the mood - They do offer quite a selection - goat soup, biryani, curries and vegetarian dishes. The bar is limited - but who would want anything besides the Mango Lassi? I thought it was supposed to be tandoor roti, but either way it wasn't good. The tardka daal was spicy, but kind of flavorless probably because of way too much oil. We were traveling with a vegetarian friend in Cincinnati. I lived in Cincinnati for many years and could only think of one Indian restaurant. So, we searched yelp, and I found this restaurant. It's a tiny place and rather a rundown shopping area but the food is fantastic and the service was excellent. I walk in on a Sunday during dinner time and there was no one else there eating. No workers were in sight. I had to peek my head into the kitchen for someone to come out and help me. The place looked old and dirty. The walls had dry food splattered on them. I decided to give the food a try because sometimes holes in the wall have the best food, and after all, it had a 4.5 on yelp. I ordered chicken tikka masala with a spice level of 7 and two plain naan. When the food came out, it looked really good but sadly, I was disappointed. I never thought I would say this about an Indian food place, but everything was bland. The naan in particular was gross. Nepali restaurant tends to be spicier in my opinion and it is. I like their Chicken Curry. They use dark meat and you can taste what is made up to be curry. Spices are good. Rice is OK. I wish they have lunch special as dinner portion is too big. Service is fine. They play typical Bollywood music videos on TV. Sometimes it can be loud. I have no complaint. My husband and I had dinner here this evening and thought it was great! We found it by looking up Indian food (we were craving it) near Sharonville Convention Center, where we were for an expo. It came up in a list of top 10 places for Indian food and was only 3 miles away. It's tucked away in a little strip mall. It seems like a really small place but there's another room to the side, though a curtain. We ordered a Samosa appetizer. My husband ordered Goat Curry and a Mango Lassi. I ordered a water and the Chilli Chicken. We were given a spice level of 1-10. My husband chose a 10 and I chose a 5 level of spice. The mango lassi has a strong mango flavor and my husband liked it a lot. I tried it also and found it to have great flavor. The samosas were delicious! Perfectly fried, with a crispy outside and soft and slightly spicy inside. My husband declared them his favorite samosas that he's ever had. I agree. He also thought the goat curry was awesome. I tasted some of his dish and it was delish. The goat was tender and the sauce was rich and flavorful. My chilli chicken was fantastic! It's small pieces of white meat chicken in spices with onions and green peppers. Both dishes were served with rice. I couldn't finish all of my dish but I made sure to get a box so that I can have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The service was very friendly and quick. Also, the owners are such nice people. Honestly this place was a great find! We were trying to find an Indian restaurant open during lunch (since apparently many of them were closed during lunch) and happened to stumble upon this place! The samosas were warm, crispy, & filling! Probably some the best samosas I've had! And I had the tarka daal which was super creamy (tasted like they used coconut milk) and delicious. The flavorful garlic naan & the basmati rice really paired well with everything! I even had leftovers for dinner. It's a cute place & I would definitely come there again to try something else! My only suggestion is to maybe expand the menu a bit more but other than that I loved my food & our waitress was very kind! read more

We waited for over an hour for our food. We ordered the goat karahi, butter chicken, shrimp fried rice and multiple momos. The food was awful. There was barely any meat in any of the dishes and it was all cold. Their excuse was that there was only 2 cooks in the kitchen but not once did they come to give us an update or provide something in the internal. It was only when we walked to the counter that they said "it's coming". It's one thing if the food was late but good but that was not the case at all. The only redeemable part was the Momos. Really good food! Almost everything we've tried is 5/5 stars. The last time I ordered chicken chow mein, the chicken itself was a little overcooked and bland. But the chow mein is fantastic so I started ordering the vegetarian chow mein instead and the stir fried tofu mixed in is great. I've dined in and now ordered pick-up multiple times. We've worked our way through most of the menu and have really enjoyed it. Hamro is a little rough around the edges but don't let that scare you from checking it out! We were in the area and had a heavy duty craving of Nepali/Indian. There aren't many choices in the area but stumbled upon Hamro which is also linked to the grocery store of the same name next door. First, the staff is very friendly. We were greeted right away and chatted a bit. Having come back from Nepal recently it was a nice refresher. The menu was reasonably priced and had a lot of traditional Nepali dishes as well as some Indian favorites. It was nice to the authenticity to Nepali plates. We had Momo's every chance we had on our recent visit to Nepal so we ordered those right away! Momo's are basically Nepali style dumplings filled with assorted veggies or chicken btw. These were the bomb and the sauce was great! The other dishs that rounded out our meal were aloo saag and Tikka masala thought they aren't as traditional we had a real carving for them. We are in from out of town and needed some quick gluten free dinner...this place was excellent! We had the chicken dumplings which was such a treat. The accompanying sauce was delicious. I had the chicken curry which was great and my son the chicken bragani, which he loved. He also had a mango shake which was really great too. . Great Food! Fast Service! One of the best authentic Indian/Nepalese restaurants in the town. I went to this place over the weekend. We ordered chicken momos, chicken biryani, chicken noodles and chicken tikka. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The sauce they have on the side for momos makes it absolutely delicious. This might be the first time I really loved North Indian type Biryani. It was not DUM but it tasted great. I never had any chicken tikka like I had it here. It's very authentic. The noodles reminded me of home. Service was great and fast. I really hope that this restaurant maintains the same standard and doesn't americanize their recipes. The restaurant has a grocery store with same name next to it and is close to Winton Woods. They've been open a week. Now my review may be bias as I haven't had other Nepali food, but we really enjoyed this place. The interior is a 70s funky, very obviously a diner of some sort previously. It was clean, despite the dated interior. My husband and I were the only people who didn't speak to the server in her native language, that's usually a good sign. We got the chicken momo, tandoori chicken, and garlic naan. The tandoori chicken we got at a 5. It was spicy enough to make your nose sniffle but not hot enough to take away from the taste. It was quite good, almost like a mix between Indian and Asian (maybe Thai?) spices. The momo was good, the sauce it came with had a nice kick and was earthy. The garlic naan wasn't as puffy as Indian naan, but it's bread with garlic.. what's not to love? Aside from all of that, the server was extremely nice and attentive. I'd never had Nepalese food before and am not usually a big fan of Indian cuisine, but it was awesome! We had a late lunch and there weren't many there. Service was great and the waitress was very helpful explaining the menu. Only complaint is they were out of soft drinks. The service was fast and professional. The Samosa was crispy and fresh, the chicken curry greasy (made with dark meat), the shrimp biryani was very flavorful, but had few shrimp. The nan and sauces served on the side were good - except the tamarind, it tasted like a mix of tamarind and ketchup. We like the Taj Mahal better. read more
