Be prepared for a little heat. Don't get me wrong it was amazing and I will be back, just had a kick. The place was super clean and comfy. The food was unique for the area and oh so very good. We didn't get dessert, but I kind of wished I had gotten the Mango Lassi as that may have helped with the heat. Again I will be back the food was just oh so good. Highly recommend.

While the food was well-prepared and you could tell it was made with care, the Nepalese and vegan-style cuisine just wasn't my personal preference. I'm more of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, so the flavors weren't really what I typically enjoy. One thing I didn't care for was that after finishing our meal, customers are expected to take their own plates and dishes to a bin in the back of the restaurant. I know some people don't mind that, but it's not something I personally expect when dining out. Overall, if you're looking for authentic Nepalese food or enjoy vegan-friendly options, this restaurant is worth trying. It simply wasn't the right fit for my personal tastes, but others who enjoy this style of cuisine may have a much different experience. This review gives credit where it's due while making it clear that your opinion is based on your personal preferences rather than the quality of the restaurant.

She has since passed and I recently spent a day honoring her and doing some of her favorite things. Getting momos from Hamro Restaurant was one of them. She also loved the Nepali chai tea, so I got a cup of that. This time, I tried the steamed chicken momos. Sadly they were less flavorful than usual and the chicken inside was a bit dry. I am hoping it was just an off day for them. The Nepali tea was SPOT ON and perfect for the cold, snowy day. I ordered carryout online. My order was ready when I arrived and the staff person who cashed me out was very friendly. I will be a forever customer at Hamro Restaurant and can't wait to try all of the menu items in honor of my sister.

The food was DELICIOUS- I got the chana masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi, all of which were some of the best I've ever had, and my dining companion got the chicken chow mein, which they loved and said was elevated by the two types of onions used and the lime on top. We both are wusses and only got the spice level of two- I personally would go up to a three or four next time, and my dining partner said that they would stay at a two (their spice tolerance is lower than mine). With tip, we paid around $42, which we felt was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The restaurant was very empty on for a Saturday night- when we walked in around 6:00 PM, there was a couple that was packing up to leave, and a few delivery drivers came in to collect orders, but for the most part, it was just us, which needs to be rectified, as Hot N Spicy Restaurant and Bar is truly fantastic. The only thing we could think of was that the location wasn't optimal for attracting attention from potential customers passing by (it's in a strip mall, sandwiched between a Goodwill and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore), and people just don't know it's there? Overall, we can't wait to come back, and we're excited to tell all of our family and friends about this hidden gem so that they'll come try it too!

The wife and I sure missed out for several years by not realizing just how good Bridges is…read more There's no accounting for it other than being asleep at the switch. (I did visit the old downtown location with a too-large office group back in the late 2010s, and that chaotic arrangement probably distracted me from its excellence.) Recently, it's our favorite bang-for-the-buck place in the metro. Or at least it is when we order the rice bowls. A digression about "bowls": When Chipotle exploded in popularity 15 or 20 years ago, folks compared the bowl (and burrito) assembly-line set-up to Subway. Ten years after that, seems like every fast-casual assembly-line style place was compared to Chipotle itself. Nowadays there's so many fast-casual chains with this model that this style of dining is often dismissed by the office-lunch kids as "slop bowls." I get it: some of these places are terrible and tedious and unimaginative. Even though the rice bowls at Bridges feature this assembly-line model, these ain't no "slop bowls." Instead, this is some of the most explosively flavorful food in town. I don't know jack about Nepali food, but at least at Bridges it's somewhat similar to Northern Indian but less about creamy sauces and more vibrant and complex and herbaceous, at least compared to its local Northern Indian cousins. As if it's not already good enough, ask for a small gundruk (a buck or two more?) to add yet another flavor facet. (Gundruk is a mix of fermented leafy greens and not quite like anything I've ever experienced. But great.) Momos--big dumplings--are specific to Nepali cuisine, at least around here. Bridges' are excellent, but whereas you used to be able to get a single momo with another dish, now you've got to order ten of them. Too bad. The staff at this location is always pleasant and helpful, at least in our experience.

First, you should try this restaurant. It's a small business run by a mother and her daughter and…read morethe food was delicious. Second, don't get confused. The place seems to go by many different names. You will find the restaurant named Parijaat Restaurant and Bar on the store front and on Yelp. There is a website for Moon Restaurant and Bar. The menu is titled Moon Restaurant and Bar. I've included a picture of the front. We were confused so you don't have to be. Just walk in. The ambiance isn't great. The first thing you'll see when you walk in is a pool table. There are maybe six tables off to the side in the back. There is also a full bar up front to the left as you walk in. The mother doesn't speak English. The daughter knows some English. While definitely not fluent, it didn't matter because she was very sweet. Because the place is small and I imagine business is slow, there are a lot of things on the menu they do not have. If you get a menu with black Xs on certain items, that means they do not have it. Even with limits there were plenty of options. There were four of us and we all got something different and we got two appetizers. We started with Samosas; I didn't get a picture. You get three in a serving. The filling was spicy and delicious. They came with a little bowl of what looked like soup. It was brothy and had vegetables in it. I didn't try it, but those that did said it was very good. I'm not sure if the Samosas were supposed to be dipped in it, but I didn't. We also had Chili Chicken Momo. Everyone agreed this was the best thing we tried. We recently had an appetizer with the same name in Chicago and it was SPICY! Deliciously spicy. I mean fantastic. The dish at Moon Restaurant and Bar was not spicy, though it looked like it should be. Instead they were almost sweet. The serving was huge. If we come back we will order this again. Mark had Chicken Tikka Marsala. When ordering he was asked how spicy, but he misheard and thought the scale was 1 to 3 so he ordered a 2. Well, it was 1 to 10. Why do I mention this? Because Mark likes things spicy and his meal was not. As a result he thought it was bland. I had Chicken Curry, which ended up being the strangest looking curry I've ever seen. That said, the chicken was tender and the flavors were very good. There was a definite taste of cinnamon. Made me wonder if they make their own curry. I'm not sure, but I'd get it again. One friend had Soup Momo. She thought it was bland. I tasted it and it she was right. Our other friend has Chicken Biryani. She enjoyed it. I loved the color. I think everyone should support this establishment and give it a try. Some of the items were standouts and others were just okay, but overall it was wonderful meal.

They had no music and these two loud beeps that happened constantly. The server was sick and sneezing and sniffing. The food took forever. Plates and silverware were wet; a puddle in the plate. Portions were small. My goat was 50% bones, not meat on the bones, just bones. The rice was dry and clumpy like it was reheated in the microwave. Nan was crispy. Normally I eat very spicy food but my stomach had been weird so we asked for 5/10 and my dude was literally sweating. It said it was a tomato sauce but this was just a bland brown flavor with cilantro. We couldn't eat but 2 bites. Paid full price and left. Luckily she didn't ask how it was because I was prepared to be honest. I think she knew. I didn't know it could get so bad. How are they open? My new low standard will be "well at least it's not as bad as the Indian restaurant in Fairfield!"
