I wanted an Indian buffet and saw people talking about this place in Facebook. We got there when it opened and was the first ones for about 10 minutes and then they got crowed with Indians which tells you this place will be good. The buffet is bigger than some places but not big in the pre-Covid days. I don't know what I was eating but not your normal Americanized food. I got a little of everything including desserts and it was all good. Now some of the dishes were spicy which was too hot for my spice level 1 wife. I would go back to try their menu items. read more

This was a recommendation by a friend and I'm so glad he did and the food was fantastic. The service was great. The mail was very, satisfying. We were a party of four and ordered as starters chili, egg, appolo fish chicken, 65 and all of these dishes were top class. Apollo fish is a must to try & you will thank me. For the main course, we ordered a creative Biryani, which had a omelette cover on top of the Biryani, masala dosa & vepudu chicken. Biryani is MIND BLOWING!! I'll take half the stars away for the set-up and ambiance. C'mon restaurant manager, please don't run your operations at the entrance of the restaurant. As soon as you enter you see this white-turned-grey sofa. Please clean this. On the left you see this 6 foot rack of cutlery, napkins, plates etc. This place is a safety hazard. Pre ordered the non- veg Thali special and it was a hit. Keep in mind that this requires 24 hour notice and feeds 5-6 adults. We had 6 people and still had some leftover. It is definitely an experience! When we arrived, food was already set out for us, all that was left to do was start eating. I couldn't possibly explain each curry or dish that was served; I think the picture does a better job. It was a mixture of vegetation and meat dishes, all flavored really well and not too spicy if that is a concern. Can't speak to any of the other menu items. Not even sure if everything in the Special is offered on the menu. Service was a little slow but this has been the case as several establishments lately. read more

Fantastic! I went with a friend because it was recommended to us. The Saag was very green - it tasted good, but the color weirded me out a little lol. The Tikka Masala was wonderful, probably the best I've had. Then we shared the Godavari Kodi Biryani which had boneless chicken - HIGHLY recommend! It was a little spicy how it came, so you could probably ask them to take it down a notch if needed. I will totally be back! read more

We came here for the first time to try the Thali special. It didn't really require 24hr notice, just 2 hrs in our case. It was already set on our table when we came. It was indeed a feast looking platter. There were 4 of us but still plenty left over. Good for at least 6 person. Anyway, the server didn't really take the time to explain what was in the platter, sauces etc. She just named them.. well the names didn't really matter if we don't know whats in it. Have been here twice. Food is really awesome. One thing I think shows the restaurant is good is by how many Indians Eat at the India restaurant.... I was the only non Indian so I was expecting good food. I had the lunch buffet and then went back for dinner. The food both times was outstanding. It's almost up scale Indian food. I had the goat vindalu which was very good. The buffet have a large choice of meat and vegetarian dishes. This is a great place to eat. read more

So I ordered two things via UberEATS. Sorry, no actual dine-in experience here yet. I've heard friends cater food from here so I thought of trying them last weekend. I ordered the Onion plain Dosa and the Shahi Paneer (with Plain Nan). This restaurant specializes in South Indian cuisine so I was really excited. The dosa was actually lack lustre. They do give coconut and tomato (?) Chutney and sambar with the dosa. They were okay. Not delicious! I wasn't expecting much from the Shahi Paneer, but that was actually better than the dosa. Price-wise, I'm really not sure why it's charged thiiis high! It's just dosa and a simple curry, and I ended up paying ~ $30 with tip. That's a lil too much! I've had better food for less. This restaurant is as good as it gets IF YOU LIKE AUTHENTIC INDIAN CUISINE. The food is NOT "Americanized" (which I refer to as heavy on the cream and weak on the spice levels). Hence, the low overall rating appears to be Americans who prefer Americanized Indian food. I however and the opposite and find this place to be a regular go to for me. In addition to what I already said, I noticed 95+% of their customers are indian people. For me, that's a good sign. I get the paneer butter masala and it is delicious! It has herb leaves, ginger, and delicious seasoning! They will allow you to substitute the rice for butter naan bread at no cost which is much appreciated. Pricing is beyond reasonable and they offer a 10% cash discount. Finally the spice levels hit and are authentic! When I order a 6/6 spice level at other restaurants it's almost not enough. Here, full spice level is called "Indian hot" and is actually too much for me so I order a step below. Visit this place if you want something different than the masses of Americanized places. read more

I came here with my family for lunch on a weekday. It was nice and slow so it was perfect for the kiddos. We ordered a lunch veg special, masala dosa and a kids lunch. Overall food was fresh and the menu was extensive! We loved the options. We could have used a little more spicy for our food, but I think next time we'll just ask for a bit more. We gave this place a try on a whim. I'm an Indian food novice and typically order the same thing: Chicken Makhani (butter chicken), Chicken Tikka Masala, and Nan. We also asked the waitress to make a recommendation, which she did, but I'm embarrassed to say that between the face mask and the accent, I have no idea what it was. I believe my response was, yes, that sounds good, we'll try that. Overall, the Nan was excellent. The main dishes were spice heavy (not hot spicy) and not to my taste. I hold the opinion that, if you are going to a restaurant featuring food from a certain part of the world, and most of the people eating in that restaurant are from that part of the world, you are going to get a delicious, authentic meal. My experience at Godavari held up to this. We got a delicious, authentic Indian meal. They even had a kids menu with something on it that my 7-year-old scarfed down--the noodles--AND it had veggies in it, so this mama was satisfied with watching my kid actually eat some Indian-style food. We had a delicious dinner here last night. All the employees were welcoming and helped us with the understanding the menu. They were so interested in knowing if we were pleased with our food. You could tell they took pride in their restaurant and the delicious and unique food they served. They have good south Indian food here. It's authentic and full of flavor. Great selection of items from their menu. The portions are adequate and large. They have TV screens which shows Indian music videos from Bollywood. Mostly men running after women up and down the hills. It was something else to see. They dance really well though. They shake their hips and booty like there's no tomorrow. Anyways, back to the food... their chicken tikka masala is good (trivia: England's national dish is... you guessed it - chicken tikka masala), their tandoori chicken is good, the naan's were good... mango lassi was sweet and yummy... the sauces were full of flavors and spice!... I usually can tell if an Indian restaurant is good or not the next morning when I pay a visit to the loo... Godavari didn't disappoint my arse. Bloody hell my crap smelled like death... my sweat also smelled funky for a couple of days... no big deal. They have a variety of dishes but I would not call it tasty, maybe less variety but more on taste would be good. The ambiance and service do not warrant the price. Cincinnati still does not have a great South Indian restaurant, which is surprising given how many South Indians and Indians living in the Greater Cincinnati area. Given that it "specializes" in South Indian cuisines, naturally, I got the Mysore Masala Dosa. They give you a variety of different chutneys. Not bad, but not great tasting either. The dosa was spicy, which I liked, but no life to it. No crispiness, not garam :(. The potato-based masala was really good actually. The sambar was good, but a bit loaded on the spices. Overall, it was a decent experience to satisfy those dosa cravings. Its an option like the other South Indian restaurants in town but not superior. Hope this gets better because I really LOVE dosa and South Indian cuisine. read more

I had great expectations about this restaurant before I go maybe that's why I got 3 stars. food is great no complaints but not enough varieties on weekend lunches / dinners. Disappointed! We stopped by for buffet on a Sunday afternoon. There was a 15 min wait which is usually a good sign, but not in this case. Buffet spread was OK. Most of the items on the buffet were bland. I get it that they go easy on the spice level for buffet spread but the dishes didn't feel authentic. Keema mutter and street chicken were the winners for me. They have Goat Paya on the buffet menu if you want to try. They should do a better job with naan and biryani. We stopped this restaurant after seeing a movie on July 16, 2019. From my understanding this was the first week the restaurant was open in Cincinnati. The food was very good but a little bit spice for my taste. I frequently eat at India restaurants and request a 3 or 4 out of 6 spice level. Here one cannot request a spice level. We had the Kodi tandoori chicken for $12.99, the Malai Kofta for $11.99 and the Goan Chicken Curry for $12.99. a note on the bill indicated we requested the Kofta and Goan chicken as mild as possible. It was still spicey. My wife, who also frequents India restaurants was unable to eat hers. She usually requests a 3 out if 6 spice level. The food and service were good. Prices were reasonable. However, to truly enjoy this restaurant you need to enjoy very spice food. read more
