Nobody was here (6pm on Saturday), which should have told me to not go, but I starving. It's in the back of a grocery. It was super dirty inside. The floors, walls, just everything was dirty and dingy. My hunger made me think "maybe this will be a surprisingly good hole-in-the-wall situation". They had no music and these two loud beeps that happened constantly. The server was sick and sneezing and sniffing. The food took forever. Plates and silverware were wet; a puddle in the plate. Portions were small. My goat was 50% bones, not meat on the bones, just bones. The rice was dry and clumpy like it was reheated in the microwave. Nan was crispy. Normally I eat very spicy food but my stomach had been weird so we asked for 5/10 and my dude was literally sweating. It said it was a tomato sauce but this was just a bland brown flavor with cilantro. We couldn't eat but 2 bites. Paid full price and left. Luckily she didn't ask how it was because I was prepared to be honest. I think she knew. I didn't know it could get so bad. How are they open? My new low standard will be "well at least it's not as bad as the Indian restaurant in Fairfield!"

Large stuffed dumplings, dishes with layers of flavor and spice (but not heat, per my request). Attentive, friendly, service, and culinary options that are (were at that time at least?) rare to find in the region. Meeting my mentor here for a meal was such a pleasant surprise, this small strip mall location delivering some seriously great food. We each ordered appetizers, and multiple dishes, and between the two of us we didn't have a bad bite. Now, I can't remember exactly what we ordered.... but I'm more than willing to go try a few new things next time.

The food was DELICIOUS- I got the chana masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi, all of which were some of the best I've ever had, and my dining companion got the chicken chow mein, which they loved and said was elevated by the two types of onions used and the lime on top. We both are wusses and only got the spice level of two- I personally would go up to a three or four next time, and my dining partner said that they would stay at a two (their spice tolerance is lower than mine). With tip, we paid around $42, which we felt was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The restaurant was very empty on for a Saturday night- when we walked in around 6:00 PM, there was a couple that was packing up to leave, and a few delivery drivers came in to collect orders, but for the most part, it was just us, which needs to be rectified, as Hot N Spicy Restaurant and Bar is truly fantastic. The only thing we could think of was that the location wasn't optimal for attracting attention from potential customers passing by (it's in a strip mall, sandwiched between a Goodwill and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore), and people just don't know it's there? Overall, we can't wait to come back, and we're excited to tell all of our family and friends about this hidden gem so that they'll come try it too!

TL;DR: Spent $16 on bland chicken korma, very dissapointed…read more I stopped into this place to pick up food since Om India (great restaurant btw) was closed. I came in during dinner hours and ordered chicken korma with garlic naan bread. Red flag: the korma wasn't orange like I was used to seeing from places that do it MUCH better, but I kept an open mind anyways. Gave it a try and my suspicion was confirmed, it was really bland. They also didn't trim some of the sinew, so I got some of that in there. The bread was probably the highlight of the meal, but even still, pretty bland and a lot more toasted than I've seen it normally be. I haven't tried any of their other options or been there during buffet hours, but I figure that if the food is that bland when it's fresh, it's probably not much better during buffet hours. The people there were very nice and the establishment looked interesting, but it's a shame that the food didn't hold up; needless to say, I won't be coming back unless they improve their seasoning... I can get much better food for a little over half the price elsewhere

While the food was well-prepared and you could tell it was made with care, the Nepalese and vegan-style cuisine just wasn't my personal preference. I'm more of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, so the flavors weren't really what I typically enjoy. One thing I didn't care for was that after finishing our meal, customers are expected to take their own plates and dishes to a bin in the back of the restaurant. I know some people don't mind that, but it's not something I personally expect when dining out. Overall, if you're looking for authentic Nepalese food or enjoy vegan-friendly options, this restaurant is worth trying. It simply wasn't the right fit for my personal tastes, but others who enjoy this style of cuisine may have a much different experience. This review gives credit where it's due while making it clear that your opinion is based on your personal preferences rather than the quality of the restaurant.

(I did visit the old downtown location with a too-large office group back in the late 2010s, and that chaotic arrangement probably distracted me from its excellence.) Recently, it's our favorite bang-for-the-buck place in the metro. Or at least it is when we order the rice bowls. A digression about "bowls": When Chipotle exploded in popularity 15 or 20 years ago, folks compared the bowl (and burrito) assembly-line set-up to Subway. Ten years after that, seems like every fast-casual assembly-line style place was compared to Chipotle itself. Nowadays there's so many fast-casual chains with this model that this style of dining is often dismissed by the office-lunch kids as "slop bowls." I get it: some of these places are terrible and tedious and unimaginative. Even though the rice bowls at Bridges feature this assembly-line model, these ain't no "slop bowls." Instead, this is some of the most explosively flavorful food in town. I don't know jack about Nepali food, but at least at Bridges it's somewhat similar to Northern Indian but less about creamy sauces and more vibrant and complex and herbaceous, at least compared to its local Northern Indian cousins. As if it's not already good enough, ask for a small gundruk (a buck or two more?) to add yet another flavor facet. (Gundruk is a mix of fermented leafy greens and not quite like anything I've ever experienced. But great.) Momos--big dumplings--are specific to Nepali cuisine, at least around here. Bridges' are excellent, but whereas you used to be able to get a single momo with another dish, now you've got to order ten of them. Too bad. The staff at this location is always pleasant and helpful, at least in our experience.
