Being the neighborhood Indian restaurant, Swad is one of my go-tos. I've been told ownership has changed a few times over the years, and you can usually tell when it has. The current owner seems to have a better handle on things than the last couple. I've never had a bad dish here. Some of my faves are the chicken tikka saag, chicken tikka masala and the magi chicken (not fruity nor too sweet). The garlic naan is also clutch. It's a great option when you don't feel like traveling to another neighborhood for Indian curry dishes. read more

Very delicious! It was my first time coming here as well as trying Indian cuisine. The wait was modest, food was nice and warm, the naan was huge and the rice was generous in amount. The delivery was on time and communication was spot on. Cucumber salad and tomatoes were very fresh. Riata was spoiled and Tamarad sauce and choley were bright red I was convened that they were not using tamarad and were using red food coloring instead , so we did not eat. Welcoming spot on West Side with small parking lot on side. I've eaten dinner her before and enjoyed my entree (can't remember wheat I had, think it was eggplant). We arrived around 1:30 pm on a Saturday but we're still in time for the lunch buffet. We were the only folks in the restaurant when we arrived but a large Indian family came in as we were leaving. Good sized buffet that included two types of pakoras, two types of bread, two types of rice, noodles, soup, salad, tons of entrees, and several desserts (plus hot chai). Wow! The greeter was very sweet and the water/dish removal service was timely and friendly. The vegetarian entrees were just as plentiful as the meat ones. I started with the mixed veggie pakoras and another type of pakora (maybe it was spinach?). I moved on to their fluffy basmati rice with delicious saag paneer, veggie korma, some spicy noodles and a piece of naan. The food could've been a tad warmer in temperature but that's often an issue on buffets especially later in the day. They did bring out fresh rice, naan, and pakoras while we ate. The only dish that I wasn't crazy about is actually my favorite Indian dish, malai kofta. I thought the balls were a little sweet and not firm enough. I tried their mango fruit dessert which was sort of a cross between a pudding and a melted ice cream. It was an interesting texture and very yummy! Looking for something different to eat and this place is two blocks down the street so decided to order from there. I never had Indian food so I wasn't sure I would like it. Came over to pick up my food and the waiter was very nice. I took long and he said he made sure to keep the food warm. The place was very cozy and clean. We ordered the chicken mushroom and the chicken sabaz. Loved the chicken sabaz it was spicy but savory spice.both dishes came with rice and it was yummy. Very disappointed in the overall quality of SWAD lately. Two orders ago I thought it was just a bad night for the kitchen but each order since has been a HUGE disappointment. Nothing even tastes the same anymore. Spice levels are always inconsistent, chicken tikka masalla tastes like there's sweetener in it, and the saag has no spice at all. Even the naan doesn't have that good char that you expect. Sad because this WAS the gem in our little part of the city. read more

Great quaint Spot for authentic Indian food! Although a little bit out of our way this came highly recommended by a friend. Rightfully so it did not disappoint. Although carry out was our mode of trying it the place looked great and fit the neighborhood well. I called ahead and was served promptly, with a smile, and friendly service. Pricing was pretty standard with very generous portions. We had the chicken tiki Marsala, chicken makhni, garlic naan, and paneer naan. All which were very good. What has happened? We have gotten food from here many times over the years, but tonight the food is yuck. Everything tastes watery and bland. Even the rice is off. It's mushy and flavorless. Are there new owners? A new chef? We won't be back. So disappointed! read more

I have enjoyed this restaurant both dining in and carry out as well as the buffet. The staff speaks but aren't super welcoming. You are usually directed to the buffet area or counter to order. The meals are affordable and portion size is good. I always get the chicken tiki Marsala with garlic nan. It usually comes out pretty fast. The chicken Marsala is prepared based on your preferred spice level. I am usually at a medium level. The rice comes with the meal. The Marsala is good and tasty. I love the garlic nan and it's usually large. Overalls, I like the food and buffet. The staff is just okay. They do their job. I would go more often but a few times they were closed when we went, not including mondays when they are listed as closed. I will return to maybe try new items on the menu or buffet. read more

I'd give the food 4-stars, but the service and price earned this restaurant it's 5th star. Everyone was very friendly and came over often to fill up our water. We had the buffet on a Saturday afternoon. All of the food was fresh and tasty. I would have liked the food to be spicier, but I know a lot of folks probably don't want all the spice. When the bill came, I wasn't expecting it to be so cheap. For 3 people, the total was less than $24. We certainly ate our money's worth, let me tell you. I would be here often if I lived nearby. I feel like there is a lack of Indian restaurants, or any diverse restaurants for that matter, on the west side of town. We will NEVER order food from here again! I ordered carry out for my wife. When she got home from work to eat, she found a hair in her food. She contacted the restaurant to let them know. She was told by an employee that "no women work here." I immediately packed up the food, along with the hair, and drove back up to the restaurant. After showing the employee that the hair was baked into the food, he also told me the same, that no women work here. I asked if he thought I was lying, seeing as that I brought every bit of food back, his response, "Yes, 100 percent." After being told that "this is the first time this ever happened," I was refunded my money. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

After discovering that Swad had opened nearby, we were fairly quick to place a carry-out order. In fact, we would have placed an order sooner if they'd been open on Mondays when a random Indian food craving hit. ;-) I was impressed with their food even with just trying the carry-out. Taj Mahal had previously been our go-to Indian carry-out place since it was the closest, but Swad's food definitely seems like it's higher quality. There was more paneer in our standard order of Paneer Makhani, and everything seemed more flavorful. We finally made it in to the restaurant to try the buffet on a Sunday afternoon, and they greeted my husband by name, recognizing that he'd been in to pick up a carry-out order previously. The buffet area is tucked in the back of the restaurant, and it was roughly half-vegetarian. The service was perfect for a buffet experience. We were mostly left to eat in peace, but our plates were cleared promptly and the check appeared on the table shortly after we'd picked up dessert. And the total was only $8/person for the weekend lunch buffet, so that's a bargain! Besides being open on Mondays, the only slight complaints we could come up with is that their Gulab Jamun was a little bit dry and it would be nice if they had more of an online presence (i.e. menu). We will definitely be having Swad again, and I'm betting it's sometime soon! read more

So I drove from West Chester because I wanted my mom to have an authentic and delicious Indian food experience. My wife is South Indian and I LOVE North Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, I am disappointed in the food, to say the least. We ordered mutter paneer, another paneer dish I can't remember, two garlic naan two regular naan, chicken tikka, samosa, and chicken tikka masala. All was ordered mild. Let's start with the samosa. The flavor was okay, the texture was terrible. It was like sticky mashed potatoes. The sauce that was given with the samosas was absolutely appalling. I took a picture of it. It looked so fake and tasted terrible. I didn't alter the color btw, that's how it came. Bright lime jello green. Was it mint, was it coriander? Idk. Let's move on to the naan. I know what good naan is. I'm a naan lover, a connoisseur. This was denser than naan should be, and almost a little oily. Doesn't look like it was cooked the way naan should be cooked. How about the entrees, you ask? The chicken tikka was really bad, it smelled like Franks Red Hot when you opened it and it looked like it was bathed in oil and vinegar. No tell tale sign of tandoori love and care, just chunks of chicken that looked like they had a bath in hot sauce. The mutter paneer was okay, but way too spicy to have been mild. I don't mind but my mom does, which is why I ordered it mild. The peas looked liked canned peas, so they didn't add sweetness to the dish like there should be. The other paneer dish was ok. The chicken tikka masala was okay, but again spicier than mild. Based on the reviews, I ordered a feast expecting to have it for lunch for my family for the next few days, and honestly I feel like I wasted 60 dollars. I guess I'll be looking for authentic recommendations for Indian food again. read more

Ive never sat inside to eat, but when I've visited, there are very few ppl dining. Ambiance is typical. Seems like a authentic restaurant. I've tried chicken: chili, curry, jalfrezi, tikka masala, tikka saag, saag, and their garlic naan bread. My favorite is a tie between tikka masala, and the tikka saag. I chose spice level 5, on a scale of 1-6, and it is always perfect. Each meal that I've had contained either cubes of chicken breast or strips of chicken. All were very good, and tender. read more

I live just down the street from them in North College Hill and get delivery/pick-up multiple times a month. At no point have they disappointed. However, today's order was something else entirely! I don't know what they do to their vindaloo sauce but ooooh is it the best I've had the privilege to try! I know they add tomatoes, which is unconventional but boy is it effective. I'm not a huge potato fan but I will make an exception just to get the sauce. Hell, if I could I'd just order the sauce and eat it like tomato soup. Their spice levels are always accurate (I always order the highest level and have never been too overwhelmed), their facilities are clean, and the service is friendly. I've never eaten in, so I cannot speak to they fare in the dine-in area. They have a van, so I believe they offer catering and in-house delivery, which is great for those who live nearby and don't want to deal with the fees and price inflation that the apps tend to apply. read more
