My husband took me to Aap for what I'm pretty sure was my first time & I wish he had taken me sooner. The exterior is very unassuming - a good example of don't judge a book by its cover - with convenient parking available. We were greeted by a pleasant host who sat us promptly & took our order. A server quickly filled our glasses with water & brought us a couple Cokes. We both ordered the chicken tikka masala ($16.99) & shared an order of the paneer naan ($4.99). I chose a spice level 4 out of 6, while my husband sprung for the 5. Both of us were very happy with our choices, as we were provided just enough heat to get our noses running, but not an overwhelming heat that took over the flavors. The sauce was so smooth & rich & seasoned with the perfect amount of cilantro. The rice looked deceptively plain, but was prepared & seasoned well & was the perfect accompaniment to the velvety sauce & chicken. The naan was stuffed with a house-made cheese & plenty of fragrant herbs, making this delicious bread a welcome side to this decadent meal. I've been reading reviews on this place. I've driven past this place many times and rarely saw cars in the parking lot. So we wanted India food and was on that side of town so we decided to stop in. It was dark and was a little hard seeing the driveway but we were the only ones in the parking lot. We went in and we were seated right away. I got the tikka chicken saag and a garlic naan and my wife got the Chicken Tikka Masala. I would have to agree with the people who reviewed this place. This is a diamond in the rough. The food was excellent and I got a heat rating of a 6. Was supposed to be super hot but it wasn't but a pleasant hot. I would definitely go back when I want Indian food. As others have said, AAP India does not look like much from the outside. Given we were the first customers the day we went, parking in what looked like a deserted building gave me pause. We were, however, ready for some Indian food, we drove here and, by golly, we were going in! Thank goodness we didn't retreat, because the food waiting for us was truly delicious Indian food. I got my favorite, Saag Paneer. I believe Mark go Chicken Vindaloo. The Naan was wonderfully soft and flavorful. The Saag, which I ordered a little big spicier than I normally would, was outstanding. I couldn't get enough! Mark loved his meal as well. The place is comfortable inside. I'm sure it was a different chain restaurant before it became AAP India. WOW! The food here is absolutely gourmet and delicious! Don't let the drab, rough exterior of the restaurant and parking lot fool you, deliciousness is awaiting you inside! I was slightly disappointed that their buffet was standing but not operating, but I still wanted to try the food. I got a cup of lentil Punjabi soup and it was absolutely delicious. I love it when Indian dishes have complex flavors, with herbs, spices, and seeds. The paneer tikka masala was also amazing, nice and spicy (I order 6/6 spice level) and very fresh tasting with that "party in your mouth" taste. Prices weren't cheap, but weren't excessive. My bill after tax was over $22, but I was happy to pay that intermediate price point for such delicious food. Again, as I've mentioned in previous reviews I don't tip at Indian restaurants. I noticed the culture not tipping and I asked questions. I was told that tipping was not customary and they work on purely "salary" (price of the food is raised accordingly). I know this is the Yelp standard text that floats in before you right a review, but this restaurant seriously did not look like much from the outside. The parking lot could definitely use some resurfacing. The interior, however, was pretty pleasant if you like Pakistani soap operas playing in the background. The name of the place was odd, and no explanation presented itself (apparently AAP is an Indian political party...?). But the bottom line of course is the food, and I had a hankering for the classic chickpea curry and fried bread which they offer. I find it odd that this place, like others in the area, brings rice with your chickpeas; it seems to me that the whole point is that you're using the bread to eat them. It's a shame because it was fluffy rice with a hint of spices, but I didn't eat all of it. My chickpeas were ordered at the maximum level of spiciness and delivered a slow burn kind of experience. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't come with any accoutrements (instead of the rice I would much sooner have had some fresh onions and a bit of pickled mango or something). The quality of what I received, however, was evident, with brightly flavored, freshly cooked chickpeas with ample spices and an indulgent bread. My milk tea on the side likewise was robust in flavor. My brother, great nephew and I visited this Indian restaurant while I was visiting in Cincinnati. We arrived around 6pm on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was virtually empty, only a couple of diners. We were seated in a booth which was a bit tight for the three of us but sufficed. The table was nicely appointed but paper napkin wrapped cutlery distracted from the overall ambiance of the space. We ordered an appetizer of samosa. The dish consisted of two pieces and was served with three sauces. The samosas were nicely crisped and flavorful. We ordered three dishes, lamb curry, combo biryani and Paneer biryani. We were given the choice of the heat for each dish, two of us opted for a level of three out of 6, the other chose level 2. The dishes were all well flavored and had the spicy heat expected. The combo biryani was to include shrimp but few if any were present. The portion size was good for all three dishes, both my brother and great nephew took some home. We also ordered nan and garlic nan. The garlic nan was underwhelming in flavor and was burned on one side, which probably affected the flavor of the bread. Service was good and food arrived quickly. The bill without tip came to about $100 and included one alcoholic drink. Definitely a fan of Indian food, I can recommend this place for those looking for this type of food. read more

Their Tikka Masala is rich and creamy, with levels of spice ranging from "White Girl" to "My Ass is a Fire-Breathing Dragon" (not actual names). This was our second trip to this Indian restaurant. Everything I said from the first trip is still true here as the place looked good and the service was fine. We tried a tomato soup appetizer with some Indian spices thrown in. It was a wonderful mish mash of flavours that was as good of take on tomato soup that I've ever had. For my main course I got my personal favourite of the Indian Dishes and that's Lamb Vindaloo as spicy as they would make it. While it maybe a half a notch below the Guru version of this dish this was still excellently done. Great layers of flavour, great tenderness in the lamb, and a nice big ole kick of spice made this very delicious to be sure. Add in a good side of Naan bread to soak up all of that tasty sauce and it was another winning effort from this restaurant. read more

My first visit is for lunch. I was greeted by a friendly server. I looked at the buffet and the menu. Then we were seated. A server brought us menus and filled our glasses with water. I decided on the buffet so I could sample everything. My companion ordered the Lamb and Shrimp Curry from the menu. It was served with Nan bread. The Coconut Soup was totally delicious. I loved the Punjabi Curry. The Garlic Nan and Chicken Curry is very flavorful too. My favorite from the salad bar is the Kachumber Salad. Our table was cleared promptly. The food on the buffet table was fresh and delicious. This is a pleasant atmosphere. The white dishes are nice and not chipped. There's 3 televisions. The bar offers beer and wine. The ladies restroom was clean and stocked. Service was outstanding. True teamwork. I will back. The buffet ends at 3 pm. Dinner must be ordered from the menu. Holy smokes, this place was good. On our last trip to Cincinnati, we were unable to get to Brij Mohan, so we tried AAP. Definitely not a disappointment. No, the saag paneer wasn't as good as at Brij, but it was still delicious. Meanwhile, the chicken shahi korma, chicken tikka masala, and Kashmiri naan were on point. Spice levels were as requested. The only reason I deducted a star is due to a technical hiccup. We ordered online, arrived, and were told the website was down. They offered us nothing for the inconvenience -- no discount or free drink while we waited. At least it didn't take too long to get our food. So, service could've been a little better. Their buffet is supposed to be nicely priced, so I came in around 2:50PM for it. The waiter told me "Ten more minutes." I told him I'd be fine to wait, and he walked off. He began pacing around me five minutes later, asking if I wanted a menu. Only after I saw the menu did I realize the buffet ends at 3:00 PM. He did not mean "Ten more minutes" until the buffet is swapped. He meant "Ten more minutes" until the buffet closes all together. Simple miscommunication! But I came here for a $7 curry lunch, not a $12 lamb dinner, so maybe we'll just split a dessert instead. Not a big deal, right? Well holy hell, not to them. This got a drama theatre's worth of glares, murmuring, eye-rolling, head-shaking, and hysterical utterances. The vibe from the waiter and the onlooking bartender was malicious by the time we requested bill. If the staff read this, I'm sorry that you're so upset?? Don't stress yourself. It was a quiet ten minute table that bought something, cleaned up after itself, and tipped. Whaaat!! An Indian restaurant on Glenway! I used to have to drive all they way to Clifton. The food was very good, and that's all that matters. I ordered the chicken saag. It was delicious. Had it with some potato nan, a little raita and I was in 7th heaven. The Inside was done nicely from converting the obvious Taco Bell into Aap India. Overall great experience, friendly service. Definitely THE Indian restaurant to go to on the west side. You might remember when this building was a Taco Bell in its Glenway yesteryears, but now it has been completely redone for a pleasant dine-in experience. I ordered from the menu (cannot speak for the buffet) but the dishes were fragrant, well spiced and delicious. I came hungry but left with a mound of leftovers, which I will gladly eat tonight or tomorrow for lunch - so the portions are generous. I love to see small, family-owned businesses flourish, especially when the food is flavorful and a good value.
