I was in Cincy for work and one of my favorite things to do when I travel for work is order takeout from a local Indian restaurant. I tend to almost always get the same dish and I am a bit picky, so when the time came to order dinner my first night in town, I went straight to Yelp to find a good spot. Amol popped up and to my surprise I know a few people that have given them great reviews. The risk seemed low and the reward high so I went with it. Per usual, I ordered the garlic naan and the vegetable korma, which is often referred to as navratan korma. It's a bunch of veggies in a creamy sauce, often with cashews and raisins on top. I ordered directly through the Yelp app for delivery and the food came pretty fast. Everything was packed up perfectly and arrived hot. When I opened everything up I'm pretty sure a literal "oooohhhh" came out of my mouth. Everything looked great and smelled incredibly good. I took one bite and quickly determined this was towards the top of my list of veggie kormas... and I've tried a lot of them... all across the US and even in Canada. The garlic naan was the perfect vessel for shoving all the veggies and creamy sauce into my mouth. It was a really big serving and plenty for just myself. The sauce was extremely flavorful and aromatic. The veggies were perfectly cooked and they didn't skimp out on the cashews and raisins on top. I would absolutely order from here again and if you're a fan of Indian food, I suggest you do too. Sometimes delivery can alter the experience and quality a bit, and that was not an issue with Amol at all. read more

Generous portions make it good for the price. And of course it's delicious. So good. I haven't had better Indian food in memory. Usually when we're in the area from chicago we stop in. Chicken Tikka is to die for. The Biryanni was great and with lots of subtle complexity. Our veggie friend got the Vegetabke Korma which was equally excellent. The quality of the ingredient is all very high. We had it spiced at 3 of 10 which was a nice comfortable tangy spiciness without any eye watering. It seemed like perhaps the couple that served the table may be the owners and they were very nice folks and even took it on themselves to clothes the blinds when they noticed me squinting from a beam of sun. Pretty authentic Indian in the Cincinnati area. We're picky and our waitress questioned our spice level (they definitely didn't give us an 8) but I imagine most blonde girls in the Midwest probably don't order that spicy and like it. We are vegetarian and were happy to see so many vegetarian/vegan options noted on the menu (another sign of good Indian). The naan was a little thin and oily but the rice was well cooked and both paneer dishes were tasty if not spicy. The vegetable samosas were ok. We saw a lot of people stop in to get pick up orders and will probably do that next time as the seating area is very small. Definitely worth trying if you like authentic Indian cuisine. read more

Just back from out of a country with bland food and I want the flavorful punch of Indian spices on my palate. Not wanting to leave the hotel, DoorDash is a my magic carpet to deliver Amol India's tonic and did not disappoint! I consider myself a fledgling snob of the curried cuisine. So here is my takeaway from this establishment: 1) they are fast! About a mile away, I had it in about 20 minutes from the time I ordered, which worried me 2) order by heat preference 1-10. Saag Paneer (one of the top dishes they are known for) at level 5 was just that. A nice background heat that was easily tamed with side orders of Papadam dipped in Raita 3) generous portions! This is a distinctively North Indian place, which at the time I dropped by was doing dine-in as well as takeout, though it wasn't much inside and there was probably only seating for a dozen or so. I'll be eating my takeout haul for a while anyway. They offer a bhatura (fried puffy bread) with multiple different fillings, which I do not recall ever having seen before but which is as delicious as I would have hoped. Dal makhani (lentils in a thick butter cream) was quite rich and filling, and came with the slow burn I asked for. A variety of fried appetizers with ample chutneys and a chana chaat (essentially chickpea salad) rounded things out. My chai was small and not sweet and had a strong spice note (clove, I think). Really great Indian food here, amazing flavors. I do have to say that the in door dinning although is clean and the ambience is quiet, there's not much personal space, tables feel on top of each other and the waiter literally has a table of his own where he sit down on his cell after taking orders to wait for someone to come in or ask for something, so I would not recommend the restaurant if you are looking for a dine in experience BUT! you definitely have to try the food!!! And hey! If you wanna check it out first before maybe dinning in, do what I did, go, take a sit, order a Taj Mahal which is a really tasty Indian beer and order the food to-go, maybe you wont mind it and would like to dine in. read more

I drive past this place nearly everyday. First time stopping in tonight. The lentil (dal) soup is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. This place blew me away. Probably the best Indian in Cincinnati, would put it ahead of Ambar, Taj, Shaans, and up there with Brij Mohan in Sharonville. To begin with I ordered from Grubhub so I wouldn't really know about the customer service. Though I did get my order delivered pretty fast. Moreover I ordered the Chicken Makhani which was very tasty and a good portion of it too for a togo order. Also it comes with a white rice on the side. In addition on the chicken makhani you can choose how spicy you want it I think there's a number between 1-10 if I'm not mistaken. I got mine number 6 and it wasn't that spicy but so good though. TLDR: Our past history aside, I'm adding Amol back to my must-have Cincinnati Indian restaurants list. Amol India is one of my new go-tos for my Indian fix. I really like that is in Newport. I still frequent the others in Clifton and Crescent Springs. Amol seems to be a little more on the spicy side and a little less sweet. I'm really digging Amol. I almost always get Chicken Tikki Masala an appetizer Aloo Tiki, and some sort of naan. Today we ordered the lunch portion as we never finished our leftovers the last time. We love their food but when my husband showed up the man told him that the cooks made him a large and that's what they charged us?? What? We never wanted a large and THEY make a mistake and we pay? Bad service mistake. We will have leftovers now and it will be wasted. The Naan bread this time was not good but mostly wanted to point out the bad service.. Honestly can't find Indian as good as this even in California. Quantity is generous (they hook you up with SO much rice, perfect for fried rice with whatever is leftover), quality is a steal for the price. The best part about it is it isn't HEAVY on oil. Normally Indian food has a massive oil pile on top, not them. It won't make you feel like trash after eating it like most extremely oily Indian food restaurants. I now live all the way out in Alexandria and Uber eats has a $7 delivery fee and I'm sure they up charge but even still it's worth it. This, skyline, and goetta is my must haves whenever I visit home. I hope I find a Indian Pakistani restaurant as good as this in California but for now it's hard to say. Keep it up guys! read more
