A friend brought us Mayas while on maternity leave and it was pretty tasty! The chicken tikka masala was flavorful, a little sweeter than other places. The mango lassi was concerningly orange so it has to have food coloring in it - I probably wouldn't get it from here again for that reason but the flavor was good. The biryani was also really flavorful and delicious! Wish we had gotten to try the naan but they forgot to give it to us with our order. read more

This review is for takeout meals. Turns out we've ordered from Mayas often and it's always outstanding. I ordered Saag Paneer. The portion, though it looks small, it more than I can eat in one sitting. There are always leftovers. We also ordered garlic naan. The naan is fantastic! It is cooked perfectly, with just a slight char around the edges. The garlic flavor is unmistakable. It's not overpowering, nope. Rather, it is perfect. In the past we've ordered appetizers and while they are always delicious, it's simply too much food. Delivery can be risky, but food from Mayas is always hot and wonderfully flavorful. This is a good Indian spot but no one of Indian descent (including me) can give this place five stars. Yes, the very folksy Punjabi interiors lend an air of authenticity - as were the elderly Sikh couple inside conversing loudly in Punjabi - but the food doesn't match up. I am immediately suspicious of Indian food that uses too much food coloring (what my stepson would call sussy). Coriander chutney shouldn't look this way, and neither should channa masala. I was surprised to see the channa and chicken tikka masala both emerge from the kitchen looking orange and almost identical. The saving grace was the huge serving of naan (the pudina one was delightful). This spot is good when you need an Indian fix, but it's not going to make you feel nostalgic for home. read more

I first tried Mayas at Taste of Cincinnati and was immediately hooked! Just ordered again from DoorDash and I can confirm it is just as good the second time around. The chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan are by far the best I've had; you can tell they spend a lot of time infusing flavor into the chicken itself and not just the sauce (although that sings by itself as well). I also took a chance and ordered something new, the Paneer Papadi Chat, and was pleasantly surprised. It's like nothing I've ever had before, but comforting at the same time. Whatever the crunchy bits are (samosa dough pieces maybe?), they're absolutely fantastic in breaking up the soft potato texture. My food also arrived still hot, which I found impressive since it travelled from Delhi to Covington. 12/10 absolutely my favorite Indian food in Cincy, and I don't think that'll be changing any time in the near future! read more

This place really did not look like much from the outside; they had some parking spaces in the back but I skipped them because of the potholes. The inside was small, but nicely decorated. While there were other people eating there, this place seemed to be doing a ton of takeout. The crowd was very Cincinnati; when you see someone with dubious facial piercings holding the door open politely for everyone else that got their takeout first, you know you're in the Midwest. I got a choley bhatura. I disagree with their choice of how to serve it; the dish is nominally chickpea curry with bread for dipping, but they give rice too, which is redundant and is a bunch of unnecessary carbs. I'd prefer they had some more traditional accompaniments (like onions, chili peppers, lemon, mango pickle, these are common). Still, the chickpeas I got on a high spice level delivered on flavor and did make me sweat a bit, and the bread was fresh and delicious. The milk tea I added tasted more like actual tea than a lot of such beverages do. I find myself thinking that they are probably popular for takeout for a reason, as it was fresh and satisfying. read more

I tried a friend's dish that was chicken in a cream sauce with ginger that was especially tasty. Even before the end of our meal we were making plans to come back frequently! They were able to accommodate a group of 9 for a birthday party at tables in their small dining area. The max to be at one table may be 12. There were several booths available for other dine-in customers and there were many take out orders in the time we were there. They have a small parking lot in the rear of the restaurant. Me and my dad were trying to squeeze in a dinner date when we both were busy beforehand, we thought arriving at 9:05 and them closing at 10 wasn't wild, we can order, have food in 20 mins, eat in 15 and be gone with 10 minutes before close. Walked in at 9:05 and were told to leave or get take out only. Not a professional way to run a company, do better, change your sign, be clear on your hours. These are basic requests. Alright, the taste of your Paneer Makhani was top notch, 2nd best of all the Indian restaurants I've tried. The flavor of the sauce was incredible, complex, and absolutely delicious! I could tell your Paneer was freshly made which is definitely appreciated, I can't stand the rubber taste of processed paneer. The price and quantity of food were unbeatable! The only issue I had was possibly due to using Canola oil in the rice or Paneer Makhani. I detox every day and Canola oil is inflammatory and causes me issues. read more

I can't say enough about the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. For example of the friendliness of the service, I witness a 10 person party come to dine in eat 10 minutes before closing. The management did not seem to fine and continued to provide excellent service to the group. Btw - I do not recommend doing such a thing! I dig this tiny Indian restaurant! Maybe 10 tables here and servers have lots of time to walk those new to Indian cuisine through the menu. This is near Curnayn's Tavern on W 8th St by the side entrance to St Joseph's cemetery. They do lots of business with Grub Hub and Uber Eats. I have even attended weddings catered by Mayas! They are seriously underrated, probably because they don't get much foot traffic in this area. On this visit we ordered paneer pakora, everything naan, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala and had gulab jamun for dessert. The food is served with assorted sauces and rice. A menagerie of flavor swam from the tip of my tongue to my gullet. Everything was delicious! I am a snob about my Indian food, and I do not like all local spots. But this place is damn good.
