Delicious! I had dinner here last week with my daughter and we both enjoyed it quite a bit. We ordered the Vegetable Pakoras, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala and Matar Paneer. I also ordered the Special Tea. All of it was delicious! The pakoras were fried perfectly and super flavorful. The chutneys were yummy too. My daughter especially liked the mint chutney. Both of our entrees were really good. And very filling. With the pakoras and naan we had leftovers for our next day lunch. The service was great. Quick and friendly. It's nice to be greeted with a smile! We were told that they also do a lunch buffet weekly. Although, not on Monday - as they are closed. They have started back up the daily Buffet from 11:00 to 2:30. We have only been back for the buffet once and it was a little lite on some food but they assured us they are trying very hard to find what works best. Unbelievably good. The restaurant isn't fancy at all but the food is 10/10. I've never had Indian food so amazing. I order chicken tandoori and my significant ordered chicken tikka masala. With the abundance of Indian restaurants in and around Anderson Township, it's tough to pick the best one without trying them all. Recently, I tried this one, and though I don't consider it the best, I'd say it's definitely worth trying. Overall, I thought it was pretty good, and the service was great too. My co-workers and I stopped by on a Thursday for lunch. It was surprisingly NOT busy. In fact, we were the only customers there. I guess they get busier during weekends of during dinner hours. The place itself was a bit small but had comfortable seating. Our server was very friendly and inviting. Their menu has pretty much what you'd expect at an Indian restaurant. We started out with an order the special vegetable samosas, which came out pretty quickly, and were very tasty with the accompanying three sauces. Then we decided to order the chicken masala, lamb saag, some garlic naan and spicy naan. They're spicy scale is 1-6, so we got everything at a 2 because one of my co-workers doesn't like spicy. It wasn't long at all before it was all ready. Everything was pretty tasty but the spicy naan really wasn't at all. Still had good flavor though. Overall, I think this spot is pretty good, and worth giving a shot. Good food at good prices, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. No adult libations, but that's okay. read more

I've tried several Indian restaurants in the area, but none felt truly authentic--until The Royal Touch. It may look like a small storefront from the outside, but inside it's spacious and inviting. The service was fantastic; the young man at the front was friendly and made the experience even better. I ordered the Lamb Saag (spice level 2--I'm a bit of a wimp) and paired it with garlic naan. The lamb was tender, the sauce full of flavor, and the naan was perfectly soft and garlicky. It was a delicious meal all around. This place has great food and service, and I'm definitely coming back. So let me explain why I'm giving this establishment two stars. We literally just came back here from dinner and are frustrated with the restaurant and ourselves. I'll start with the good first. The food was good, not amazing - but good, no complaints. The service was good, our server was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food came out timely and the serving size was good. Here is why I'm giving this establishment two stars. They 100% overcharged us and I'm mad that we didn't catch it until after the fact we paid and left.. cause ya know, you want to trust people.. There were four if us and we all ordered the same thing. Four orders of chicken tikka masala and two order of special naan bread. On the menu the chicken tikka masala says it's $15.99. Each naan was $3.99... so 4 x 15.99 + 7.98 (the two naans) equals $71.94. So you add some tax without tip (yet) would be around probably $80. You wanna know what they charged us on a non itemized bill? Literally $107. And we also tipped.. WTF. I'm irritated with us because we should have doubled checked.. but also what a crooked way to run a business. They've lost our business 100% Update: Interesting how the owner left a comment and apologized but yet to refund us the difference. Update 4/7/2023: The owner NEVER reached back out to me to reconcile the overcharge. "We take pricing accuracy very seriously and will investigate this matter further" - WHAT A JOKE. read more

Wow... I pop down to Cincinnati every once in a while to OhhhhMmmmmGgggg!!! You wouldn't guess it by looking at the outside, but that was probably THE best Indian food I've ever had. The smell when you walk in was delightful and I just knew it was going to be goooood. We split the Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and garlic naan. I could have licked the plate. Real silverware, cloth napkins and plenty of water refills in wine glasses! The owner made it a point to visit each table and make us feel like family. My first experience with Indian cuisine! WOW...the flavors. What have I been missing out on? The food was excellent. The restaurant was clean. I don't know the name of who waited on me, but I believe he was one of the owners. Very friendly. I got a lesson on cricket, some answers to how the sport is played. I ordered chicken curry and garlic naan. I was going to go with spice level 3, but I was persuaded to try spice level 2 for my first time. It was a good suggestion. The level 2 had my tongue and lips tingling but not in an uncomfortable way. I will try spice level 3 next time. I'm thinking I can handle that and that at the heat level, I will still be able to taste the food. Overall, an excellent experience. I will definitely go back. And to make this review complete, I had Indian cuisine the next day from a different, highly rated Indian restaurant, Adeep. I ordered the exact same thing, chicken curry and garlic naan, spice level 2. While it was good also, Royal Taj was just a level or two better in tastes, and the portion size was larger. Royal Taj has a spice level of 1-6. Adeep is 1-5. The 2 at Adeep is not spicy at all. And Royal Taj had way more garlic on the naan. Royal Taj has plenty of parking, in both the front and rear. Royal Taj also has indoor dining. It is easy to understand how Royal Taj has been a successful restaurant in the Anderson area for over 18 years. If you live outside of Anderson, this is worth the drive if you enjoy Indian cuisine or are looking to try Indian cuisine for the first time. read more

The only times I've tried Indian food in Cincinnati were from places in Clifton, this is my first time getting Royal Taj. It was really good! I'm glad I know I don't have to drive 20 mins to Clifton now to get great Indian food. We got Royal Taj through DoorDash on a Tuesday night and it was a great experience. The food arrived half an hour earlier than stated (NEVER the case with delivery), the order was correct, and everything was delicious. Oh, and, other restaurants? Royal Taj has takeout packaging figured out. Curries are in plastic tubs, rice packed into styrofoam boxes, bread and apps kept warm in foil, and sauces in little tubs plus wrapped in plastic. Nothing leaked and everything was serving temp. My husband actually yelled when he accidentally splashed some lamb curry on his hand, it was that hot still. (Incidentally, he is fine.) As to the food, we enjoyed: - Vegetable samosas. Huge, packed full of spiced potatoes and peas, still crispy, and delicious. Two to an order. - Garlic naan. Not terribly garlicky as garlic naans go? But warm and chewy and fluffy, perfect for sopping up sauces. - Lamb curry. Perfectly tender pieces of lamb in a spiced tomatoey sauce. Very good. - Chicken dal, aka what you get when you can't decide between dal and all the other amazing looking dishes. Tender chunks of chicken in a thick sauce with lentils and beans. The portions were generous and we both ended up with enough food for two meals (possibly more, you get A LOT of rice). One thing to note is that DoorDash will not prompt for spice level, but there is a place to add special notes right before you add an item to your cart. The scale goes 0-6. We did not find this until after we'd ordered, but rest assured, the food is plenty tasty even at 0 spice. read more

I always try and stop at different Indian restaurants as I pass by them. This place is a real hidden gem. As with a lot of restaurants, the higher the level of spice you get your food, the less flavorful it actually is. But my chicken curry was anything but that. Our favorite Indian restaurant in the Anderson area! We love the chicken tikka masala. It's super creamy. The saag paneer is also really good. It has lots of cubes of paneer. The Nav Ratan Korma is yummy! It has the perfect amount of raisins. We also enjoy the dal makhani. The mushroom matar and chicken matar isn't always consistent...sometimes the base is creamy and sometimes it's strictly tomato based. I'm honestly not sure if it's supposed to have any cream in the base, but we really enjoy it when it does. Their naan is also consistently good. We used to go to Taj all the time, but when they closed due to a fire, we tried Royal Taj. We did go back to Taj when they reopened, but sadly their food has gone downhill since the reopen. Came here hoping they had somehow opened their lunch buffet but I guess restrictions in place still don't allow that. They hadn't even opened indoor dining yet but they said they were doing so on Monday September 21. Grabbed some takeout and took it to a park to eat. I had the chicken mushroom, which was great! Not amazing, but still pretty great. Garlic naan was also very flavorful. Good place for takeout and I'm willing to try it again someday. read more

My son and I have enjoyed lunch at Royal Taj several times. Although the outside of the restaurant is not particularly attractive, the inside is spacious, quiet, and pleasing. We have found that the service has always been wonderful and the food is consistantly tasty. The lunch buffet offers a wide variety of entree items, condiments, and desserts. We have never been dissatisfied with the quality of the food. The buffet is a convenient and quick lunch, and probably the most economical choice, but, like all buffets, freshness suffers just a little as the food is held in steamers. On this last visit, I also found that the buffet plates were quite cold, which, by the time I got back to our table, had cooled my food more than I would have liked. Warmed plates would have been a nice touch. My son ordered special lamb-stuffed naan bread from the menu, as well as chicken vindaloo, both of which arrived freshly made from the kitchen and piping hot, which led me to conclude that, unless you are short on time or want the variety of the buffet, ordering from the menu is really the best way to go. read more

Three of us had lunch at the Royal Taj on Saturday. The owner could not have been more welcoming. He made Indian tea for us, assuring that if we didn't like it we could have something else. He just wanted us to try it. The food was delicious, served family style on pre-heated plates. My mother always said "don't serve hot food on cold plates" Such a nice touch. Right off the bat, I'll admit that four stars is a bit of a stretch for Royal Taj. But let me explain: Anderson Township is pretty much a restaurant wasteland, and, if you're hungry, Beechmont can feel like a depressing and endless trail of chain monotony and mediocrity. This is a community that recently lost what was probably the best Middle Eastern restaurant in the whole Cinci area, Cafe Mediterranean, apparently because the A.T. crowd couldn't pry themselves away from the chains. If you're looking for anything independent and just slightly off the beaten culinary track, you're going to feel like screaming in frustration after surveying your A.T. options. Royal Taj is one of the few bright spots, which is why I give it a little extra boost. Royal Taj is one of the few Indian places outside of Ludlow's Indian row that isn't operated by the Ambar/Baba folks. This means that the buffet has some change-ups from what you might get at those places: veggie somosas, goat curry, pappadam, etc. The food is quite good but I wouldn't call it wonderful. (I rate Hyde Park Plaza's Shaan four stars also, but if Shaan is a strong-four-approaching-five, Royal Taj might be slight cut above a three-and-a-half; call this another lament about the absence of half-star ratings on Yelp.) The decor is pretty forgettable and maybe bordering on shabby. And you might hit your head on the low-hanging modern-ish light fixtures if you're not careful. The service is entirely competent but doesn't really stand out. Royal Taj now has Indian-restaurant competition down Beechmont with the recent opening of Indian Bistro. Time will tell if both can survive out here.... read more

Amazing food! I wanted to try Indian food after seeing a ton of Indian food recipes on my TikTok FYP. The food here tasted even better than what I was anticipating. My fiancé and I each ordered one entree and then an order of garlic nan for each of us. The total of two entrees and two nans made four full plates of food. We're leaving right now full and happy. 100% want to come back soon because $36 is an amazing deal for two people to be this happily full! read more
