The Indian Bistro on Ohio Pike near I-275 is a small, laid back casual restaurant run by some very pleasant people. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for their lunch buffet and found the restaurant very clean and bright inside. (So, my dear readers, just ignore the review below that will tell you otherwise.) This was a very nice dining experience. The buffet had a lot of Indian food options and our group probably sampled most of them. Virtually every type of food offered was top drawer....delicious. I would argue that the naan was the only item I experienced that was not excellent but merely fairly good. Everyone in our party left feeling full and well pleased. I never realized there were so many Indian restaurants in and nearby Anderson Township until I moved closer to the area. And thus far, I've had great experiences at each one. This particular one is definitely no exception. My boss and I decided to try this place out of lunch on a Thursday. The place itself definitely isn't huge but has plenty of seating. The owners, an older couple, are very polite and soft-spoken. Their menu is full of what you'd expect from an Indian restaurant but has a few items with a twist. One of which we tried on a whim. It was the special vegetable samosa. We ordered that along with some keema samosas. The keema samosas were packed with spicy beef goodness and went great with the accompanying sauces (especially the red one). The special vegetable samosa was unique, like a smashed vegetable samosa, loaded with chicken peas. It was very tasty too. After that, we ordered the chili chicken and chicken vindaloo along with some garlic naan. Their spice level is 0-4, so we did both dishes at a 2. We hardly waited long at all until both were ready. Everything was excellent, especially the chili chicken. The veggies were cooked just right so they kept a nice crisp crunch. Overall, I'd say we were both impressed. It's hard to pass up good Indian food and this place definitely makes it good. Now I just need to decide which one here is my favorite. I may have to bring my lady here to help me decide. read more

We had a large party of 19 people for a graduation party. We called a week ahead to let them know we were coming and we couldn't have been happier. The staff was amazing as usual the food was beyond. Incredible! There are no words for how accommodating and friendly everyone was. I'm so glad we chose Indian bistro for our family get together. As usual we will be coming back. These two items are just my favorite and I can't help but order the same stuff haha Anywho, I was craving chicken tikka masala and found this establishment because it was literally only four miles away. It also had pretty good ratings, so why not give it a go. We came here on a Friday night and it was fairly busy. The chili chicken was a bit oily for my taste, but it is a stir-fried dish so I should've expected it. The garlic naan was chewy perfection. I feel obligated to make an update for my review, because it's been over two years since my wife and I first found this gem of a restaurant. It is our Number One favorite restaurant in the Cincinnati area. Throughout the pandemic, we've probably ordered takeout/delivery from Indian Bistro at least once every two months. Probably eaten from here ten to fifteen times in that span. We've never been dissatisfied, always received hot, delicious, and large portions of rice, naan, and whatever dish we ordered. During our first visit I ordered their lamb korma, and I have had no reason to order anything else. It's one of the best things I've ever tasted and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. My wife tried a few different dishes before settling in to her favorite, the Aloo Choley, but we both have our regular orders now. I've also tried the Chicken Tikka Masala when my sister ordered it once, and it is also delicious. Just had to update that this is our favorite restaurant in the area and we want as many people to know about them as possible, so they'll stay in business! read more

5* food, 3* atmosphere, 4*experience! My wife and came out looking for some great Indian Food and the yelp reviews have this one rated pretty high. I will agree with my yelping allies, the food is hands down amazing and very affordable. We ordered chicken tiki masala at a medium (#2) spice level; it had just enough heat that your mouth tingled but did not take away from enjoying the meal. Also, the garlic nan was fantastic! We could have gotten away with one order and shared but we doubled it just for the left overs. The down side to the restaurant is that the decor is awful and pretty bland to look at. The place was clean but the menus were pretty filthy and could use a good wipe down. Overall, I would be able to endure the looks of this place just for the food! My wife and I will certainly be back and my hopes are that maybe the owners will update the place a bit. Regardless, genuinely happy with our meal and can't wait to try more on the menu. Rich, warm chicken tikka masala at Indian Bistro was the perfect choice in this freezing weather Friday night. It may have been 25 degrees outside but my husband's forehead was beading sweat while eating his spicy level 4, just the way he likes it (I don't get it!!). I was not expecting to be wow-ed by this one because I already have some favorite spots for Indian, but wow-ed I was. We've been to this restaurant before, as we both love Indian food. However, the times we'd been there prior was when they had a buffet. Yesterday, we drove there for lunch. No small feat, as we live in Kentucky, a good hour drive away. But, we both love Indian, and there are no restaurants like that nearer to us. We arrived, went inside, and were. . .very disappointed. We noted no buffet, and we were expecting one. Actually, the main reason for coming. We were told there was no buffet, and when we asked if there would be one in the future, we were told no. Now, I am no expert, but for me, having Indian food on a buffet with the ability to sample and enjoy the many different sauces, salads, and dishes, is what eating Indian food is all about. Sure, you can order one item off the menu, but it will be expensive, and you will miss sampling all the other good dishes. I am sure the food is still good, but it was the buffet experience we were looking for. We left and went somewhere else. Personally, I don't see how they can survive without the buffet. The times we were there for the buffet, the place was pretty full. This time, there were two people. If anyone from this restaurant is reading this, bring back the buffet. When I began dating my significant other, he and his family raved about Indian Bistro. A few months later, they treated me to a meal, and I fell in love. Although my significant other and I have moved nearly 40 minutes away from the area, whenever we are nearby, we put in a take-out order to enjoy at a park for lunch or in the car. I've tried a couple of vegetarian dishes here and have never been disappointed. My current favorite is Paneer Chili with naan-- a wonderfully spicy and sweet flavor combination that I cannot get enough of. Well, this was the first time I've ever had Indian food. My wife found this place and we brought our son. The restaurant is in a strip mall and it is clean and inviting. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding!! Nice and spicy just how I like it. We had an appetizer which was delish and the chutneys were full of flavor. Indian Bistro is one of the few Indian restaurants offering a dinner buffet. We got there as they opened. Everything on the buffet was hot and either looked fresh, or was sufficiently stewed. Nanna was fresh. Flavors were balanced. I enjoyed the variety offered. Several vegetarian options with protien from either chickpeas or tofu were available. I did not feel that anything was too spicy. The spiciest dish I tried was the fish. It had a slow burn. My youngest did not have much on his plate. They noticed, and brought a plate of chicken not offered on the buffet for him. It was a kind and appreciated gestures. Several people were picking up to-go orders. This Indian restaurant is located in a nondescript strip mall just outside the 275 loop on Ohio Pike. My daughter and I happened to be in the neighborhood and she was begging for Indian food. Siri told us the nearest door. Thank you Siri!!! My husband and I have been going to Ambar India in Clifton (which we have always loved) BUT this little restaurant has completely won me over! The food tasted incredibly fresh. The chicken in the curry dish was moist and tender. The potatoes in the saag I ordered were some of the most delicious potatoes I've ever had! I couldn't believe how delicious everything was. Oh- the garlic naan, also perfect. The restaurant itself is very small and simple. But, let me tell you, SO CLEAN. And the owner was really just the sweetest. There is no lunch buffet. My daughter and I ordered 2 entrees and naan. We are really good eaters and filled up, and still had plenty to take home to my husband who was also impressed. I didn't bring my phone in with me, as I really wasn't expecting anything great, so I have no photos. There is a nice photo on their Facebook page. It's rare I wish I was an "influencer". I tried carryout from here for the first time last night after a coworker told me how amazing the food is. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior in a semi deserted plaza. The saag paneer was creamy and spinachy and amazing. The chef's naan contained the perfect amount of onions, potatoes, and garlic. I fed some to the toddler and she gobbled it up. If I had to pick one word to describe the food at Indian Bistro, it would be mouthwatering. My husband and I (as you will see in his review below mine) really enjoy Indian food. We are huge fans of trying different cuisines. I often feel like non-American cuisines are a lot better because they really know how to utilize spices in their food. That being said, one Friday night a few months back I suggested we go out to eat. I'd had a long day at work and didn't feel like cooking. As one of the few non-chains in the Batavia area, The Indian Bistro had caught both my husband and I's eyes, so we went. I ordered the Lamb Choley and my husband got the Lamb Korma. They brought out chips with three different dipping sauces. I'm not entirely sure what any of the sauces were, but I loved them all. As my husband said in his review, our food came out pretty quickly, which was impressive considering the fact the restaurant had started to fill up. I've been to places where it's been dead and it still takes forever for the food to come out. My dish came with rice, lamb, and a lot of chickpeas. I absolutely love chickpeas, so it seemed like a perfect dish for me. I thought it was good, but I wasn't super blown away. I got a 1 for the spice level, so it could have been that. I'm willing to admit I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy food. Our waitress asked me if I'd had the dish before because typically it's something they cook at home. I loved learning this. I always find it cool when staff at a restaurant share things like that with me. I tried a few bites of my husband's food, and that was when I decided this place was incredible. It was just *so* damn good! Since we both liked our food so much, we ended up ordering from them again a few weeks ago when everything started to go on lockdown due to COVID-19. My husband again ordered the Lamb Korma, and this time I opted for the Seafood Bhuna with shrimp. I liked it better than the last dish I ordered - it had so much amazing flavor in it. This interior of the restaurant is nothing to write about, so I won't. It's the food that's important. We ordered lamb vindaloo with a door-dash delivery. (We'll complain about door dash another day. ) The order had an error and they were quick to offer to make it right. Sure I had to drive out, but I'm glad I did. They offered two new lamb vindaloo servings, Nd we opted for adding spice. They work on a 4 heat scale, my wife went for 2, and I tried 3. The heat was nice, might tempt fate with 4 next time. The lamb was tender and properly cooked. Rice was ok, it's rice and not the hero of the meal. The yogurt added the right level of toung rescue without totally negating the spices.
