Looking for a new place to go for work lunch on a Friday. Someone mentioned Indian so we followed the Yelp 5 star reviews here. I have to admit, we weren't feeling very confident walking in as it looked pretty shabby and was devoid of customers. This is a great lesson I'm never judging a book by its cover. The food here is amazing! The Lamb Rohan Josh was smooth velvety perfection and the garlic naan was possibly the best naan I have ever had and I've been to India! Seriously some of the best Indian food in the entire east coast and Midwest. We usually do take out (especially during covid) and are always impressed with food quality, temperature, and orders always being correct. They are wonderful about food intolerances as well. My family enjoys the tandoori, the curry, and the tika masala with either chicken, shrimp or lamb. My favorite is the fish buhna and the dal soup. So I have eaten at a lot of Indian places all across the city, and we have a lot of really good options, and if you had told me that the absolute best option would be in a half empty strip mall five minutes outside of the 275 loop, way out in Anderson Township I would've told you crazy. But this place is seriously incredible. I've been going there for years, before they moved out even farther to the east, and have never once been disappointed in the quality or service from carryout, buffet, entrée orders in the restaurant etc. it is a really great option if you are in the area, passing through, or willing to make a track to get some high-quality Indian food. Their heat scale is 1 to 4, and even with a four they provide some serious power. The amount of food you get for your money is completely unparalleled, I did a take-out order recently and I thought this is crazy but I'm gonna actually weigh this chicken, they give me 15 ounces of cooked chicken for $11. Think about that, that's literally three servings worth of chicken for the cost of one entrée. And guess what every single bite was absolutely incredible. When you call ahead to order their nice polite, inefficient, don't answer any questions, and they make sure they get your order right. Our family received the group text that they had reopened for business and we were ready to eat after the hiatus from Indian food. After all, we live in the 'burbs where good ethnic food is hard to come by, and I was willing to wait until my favorite standby reopened rather than venturing out of my comfort zone (I sound like an old codger). We came to IB tonight, had chili chicken and chicken curry and vegetable samosas. Delightfully spicy, fresh, flavorful and delicious - and prices have remained the same. Ordered carry out Tuesday night. We have ordered from here several times before. The staff is always very friendly and pleasant. The food is not as good as before. The goat curry was nothing but bones and no meat just sauce. The saag paneer had very little cheese. The naan was good. Overall for 2 entrees and naan was 39.00 plus tip. WOW!!! I was in the area with friends from Miami FL and we were getting pretty hungry. I saw this restaurant and all the reviews, and we just had to pop in. The place was clean and very busy! Our servers were attentive from the moment we walked in. We started with the special vegetable samosas. DELISH! I honestly could have been satisfied with this alone, the sauces were so good! I ordered the chicken choley combo. The spice was perfect. The chicken was tender and seasoned very well. My friends had the Lamb Rogan Josh as well as a chicken dish that was cooked along with cheese cubes (I forgot to write down the name.) We all sampled each others dishes and for three people we had so much food. We were so satisfied with our meals. Had we not been traveling we would have taken the rest to go. I've only had this place as takeout, but the quality is great and the portions are nice and generous. Their online coupons are also a boon. Their naan is top notch, especially the garlic one; very flavorful and delicious. Their Lamb Saag is my absolute favorite and there is plenty of good quality meat in it. Just so you know, the spice levels are slightly spicier than the 2 you would find other places, or at least it seems that way to me. Still it comes with plenty of rice to soak up the deliciousness. Goal for next time is to go in time for the buffet. read more

When I walked into the Indian Bistro, it was small but the smells inside were so good. My mouth was watering all the way back to the office for my lunch. Indian Bistro was recommended by a friend and I went in expecting a great, unique Indian restaurant with fresh food for their lunch buffet. I was not disappointed. We walked in to an extremely clean restaurant blaring European electronic music. I mean, some of my party started dancing so I guess that isn't a bad thing. We sat down at a table and after a glance, most of my party decided they wanted to go for the lunch buffet. One person in my party had never had Indian food before, so they were on the fence, but ended opting for the buffet as well. I tried most of the items on the menu, and was impressed for the quality of food for buffet style. They had a homemade chicken, and a fish curry that were both excellent and spiced well. The buffet also had a good assortment of curry's, including chicken, mushroom, veggie, and tikki masala. There was regular naan, and various sauces and pickled veggies on the buffet. Even the person with us that had never had Indian food before enjoyed everything she ate!! Everything I had was good. The temperature of the food should have been hotter. The spiciness of the food should have been hotter - BUT I understand why they don't add as much spice to the buffet. The Tikki Masala was not spectacular - usually my favorite dish. The service was excellent. All of the employees were very friendly and we were given good attention on refills and questions on what things were (we were with a newbie). read more

We eat here when ever I don't want to cook at home, I always get Aloo Choley( Potatoes & Chickpeas) at a level 3. As someone who grew up eating spicy food a level 3 is decent, not hot but not bland. It's perfect every time I get it, potatoes and chickpeas cooked just right and plenty of thick sauce but not too much that you hardly get any vegetables. The Papadam is always fresh and super delicious as well. Everything is pretty perfect if you ask me. I'm a vegetarian and have a red meat allergy which can make me very sick. I can eat here without worrying if I'll get sick from meat because they really take care of everything. So if you are vegetarian you won't regret coming here to eat, but there are plenty of meat options to for your Omnivore family or friends. Go to this place all the time with coworkers. Best Indian buffet in a five mile radius (several). Lots of options from 'home style' to the more Americanized versions of Indiana food. (Hint home style is the best.) The rice is pleasantly spiced with aromatic seeds and the sag paneer is like mother's milk. Also: note, they do bring your own beer. Closer to 3 1/2 stars. We wanted to try Indian Bistro after reading all the great reviews. We typically go to Royal Taj, and used to frequent Taj too. We ordered the Chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, mushroom mattar and garlic naan. The naan was really good. The mushroom mattar was also pretty good. It had a lot of peas and mushrooms, which I love. The one thing I didn't like was that there was a little more sweetness to the dish than I'm used to. The chicken tikka masala was also fairly good, but of the 3 local Indian restaurants (Taj, Royal Taj and Indian Bistro) it was my least favorite of the chic tikka masala's I've tried. Lastly, the saag paneer was lacking. It tasted more like creamed spinach. I like my saag paneer with cubes of paneer and there were only 3-4 in the entire container. Royal Taj is still my first choice for local Indian food. That being said, I wouldn't discourage anyone from giving Indian Bistro a try because some people may like the sweetness of their tomato based sauces. read more
