    Green papaya salad

The food was excellent! The whole place was a vibe. Great vegan/vegetarian options! We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely visit again next time we're in Seattle. Easy to walk to from Union Lake.

Ba Bar Green is bomb.com ! I had the Vegetarian Phở, and it was incredible--the broth was rich, flavorful, and packed with aromatic spices. Every sip was comforting and well-balanced. I also tried the Asian Eggplant and Spinach Tofu Paper Wrap, which was perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. Every bite had a great mix of textures and seasoning. If you're looking for delicious, plant-based Vietnamese food in Seattle, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!

I ordered some sweet potato laksa and some soup from ba bar green at 7 pm on a Friday. Ordering was simple enough using their online system, and a take out charge and bag fee is automatically added. Estimated pick up time was ~10-15 min post ordering, and I got there a little bit early and it was ready to go. I was efficiently handed my food at the pick up window adjacent to the Ba Bar entrance. Everything came well packed, with the liquids rubber banded closed, plenty of soup spoons, chopsticks and napkins. Nothing spilled as I made my way home! The food was incredibly flavorful! Tasted great. Only very very mild complaint was that a lot of the things were lukewarm, with the middles of the sweet potatoes and tofus being cold. Since I was at home this was not a hassle to reheat, but may have been annoying if I had been eating outside somewhere.

    Plant Based Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Ba Bar has been a go to for me for ages, but this was my first time trying Ba Bar Green. The service is quick and friendly, and their Vietnamese iced coffee is phenomenal! Despite the lunch rush, the wait staff were smiling and kind. They quickly made my iced coffee to go, and I was in and out within five minutes. I've never had a vegan Vietnamese iced coffee before. The flavor is definitely different, as the condensed milk in regular Vietnamese iced coffee is very distinct. However, the condensed coconut milk in this drink is quite tasty and not too overpowering. I'm impressed with my drink, and I will definitely be back to try food items next time!

Ba Bar Green functions as a vegan take-out counter but you can order food and dine inside the full 'Ba Bar' with drinks and the works. My friend and I did that and enjoyed some really bomb Asian inspired vegan food. I ordered their Curry Laksa ($18) and it was my first time having laksa since going plant-based, and it did not disappoint. Thick rice noodles with a spicy, coconut curry with fried tofu, beansprouts, and other veggies - overall very aromatic and tasty. My friend ordered their Dan Dan Mien with Beyond Meat and it was delicious as well. We also cheers to two of their frosty drinks which was perfect for a nice summer Seattle evening. Definitely one of the best spots for a good vegan meal here in the city. If you come towards closing, you can still order and dine inside the bar as long as you make it before their last call.

    Tofu sandwich

Stopped by here after work and thought it was pretty decent. They had a promotion this week where you can BOGO banh mi so we opt for that. This place is a green counter outside of their main restaurant and focused solely on vegetarian food. The main restaurant have normal food. They had 3 types available, so we got the tofu and the plant based chorizo sandwich. Typically, each of the sandwich cost $9.75 but with the promo, it's 2 for 1 which is a really good deal. Both sandwich had some highs and lows. The high was that the bread was nicely toasted and stayed perfectly crunchy for a while. The veggies was very refreshing and fresh and nicely pickled and there was a lot :) for the me, the protein was a little of a miss. The tofu was big slabs and sturdy which is good, but lack in flavor. It was very light that you mostly get the flavor from the veggies. The chorizo on the other hand was very salty that you need the veggies to help balance it out. Overall, I wish there was a middle in terms of flavor. Otherwise, it was very tasty. Overall, good/hefty sandwiches and I would come back to try their other offerings

    Papaya salad, pre-mixing

Once again came back to ba bar green for takeout on a warm summer evening. Everything is 100% vegan / plant-based, and so incredibly flavorful and delicious. We always get the Dan Dan noodles because my partner says they're the best outside of what he had in China (vegan or not), and this time I tried the papaya salad for the first time. Papaya salad was so flavorful and refreshing, perfect for summer. It came topped with tofu, fried tofu, fried taro strips, tomatoes, mint, onions, and dressing on the side. Be aware that papaya salad is really just a base of grated papaya, there's no lettuces or grain or anything, so you might want to add on something else for a full meal. We'll definitely be back!

    Lemongrass Tofu Singapore Noodle
    Surya R.

The food was ok. Dan Dan noodles were good but did not care for the lemongrass Singapore noodles (no flavor whatsoever). The tofu wraps were also meh. They have an amazing vegan chocolate mousse though. Service - 3/5 as well. They seated the people who came 20 mins after us. She apologized but still, how hard it is to use the waitlist sheet that they placed at front. They denied accommodating our spice level. We got served the wrong food and again wrong bill. Overall, chaotic!

Lao Crispy rice and quinoa salad
    Richard U.

If your looking for asian cuisine vegan food this is the place to try. It's a walk up window at the Babar SLU serving all vegan friendly versions of sort of an pan-asian menu. Dan dan noodles: uses Beyond meat as the protein. Not my favorite faux meat but covered up with all the sesame and tahini and it tastes pretty good Lao crispy rice and quinoa salad: one of my favorite laotian dishes now using beyond meat sausage substituting for the lao sausage which is a tough ingredient to replace. Crispy rice adds nice texture. Lemongrass tofu Singapore noodles: probably my favorite of the stuff tried today. Lots of different textures between noodles, mushroom and fried shallots. I would get this again for sure. Side of kimchi is a must for any meal and their vegan version still hit all the funky fermented notes. Parking in SLU was once a headache but since the pandemic has significantly depleted SLU of Amazon employees parking is much easier to find. Was able to angle park right outside!

They do vegan right! Even meat lovers will love this restaurant. Very rarely do vegetarian/vegan restaurants get it all right and Ba Bar does. Everything we had was delicious. Special shout out to the Chorizo Bahn Mi and the Dan Dan Noodles. We didn't get to try the boozy slushies but many tables had them and we'll try them next time. The gin rhubarb coffee cocktail was sublime. Very friendly staff, we ordered food at the walk up window and they brought it to us in bar area. Inside and outside tables.

    Sweet potato laksa (vegan)
    Matt B.

I stopped in for a late lunch and got their sweet potato laksa ($18.95 plus tax). It's not common to be able to get vegan laksa, so I was excited to try it. Coming from Vancouver, we have a fair bit of vegan laksa options, so I guess my standard is a bit unrealistically high. The soup came out in about 10 minutes, with all sorts of different tofu, Asian greens, bean sprouts, and round noodles that aren't exactly my favourite. The broth was rich and fairly authentic, with tons of depth -- not exactly what I'd expect from a Malaysian joint but very impressive. Good food, horrendously overpriced, friendly, astute service. Worth checking out for all sorts of different Asian vegan dishes.

It ended up being so tasty that I came here twice within a few days. The first visit, I got veggie tempura appetizer and chirashi rice bowl. A bit on the pricier side, I still wanted to give it a try. The veggie tempura are actually not separate pieces of vegetables in tempura, but kakiage (shredded veggies fried together) - still pretty good though. The chirashi rice bowl was fantastic - beautiful presentation as the fish came on the side, pretty fresh, and I appreciated the small details, like the wasabi stem inside the scallop and the shiso leaf/sprouts that accompanied the dish. The service was fantastic as well, considering I had a table for one during lunch hour. My second visit I was on the go, so I got the Classic sushi burrito, which again was maybe a little pricier than I would like, but it was worth it. Rice, fish/poke, crab mix, cucumber, avocado - it all mixed nicely wrapped within the rice paper outside, and was convenient to eat for takeout. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're around the area and feel like treating yourself to more than a soup/salad/sandwich...

I am so grateful for my experience at Life On Mars. It turned out to be the highlight of a…read moretumultuous Seattle trip and I look back on it fondly. We came here mostly for one thing: I absolutely could not wait for their gluten-free vegan chick'n pot pie. A pie i'd been waiting months to try. A pie unlike any other pie. A pie that I still think about to this day. We walked straight into a Cardi B drag show. And by "walked into" I mean we opened the door and Hot Pink Shade sashayed right in front of us. It was exactly the kind of welcome we love. It was also the first green flag in a sea of green flags at Life On Mars. I could barely sit still as I waited to order my GF/VG pot pie. We got the drinks outta the way (a peach hard cider for me and a fancy-schmancy cocktail for the lady). I was positively GIDDY when Anna came to take our order and I blurted out chick'n pot pie excitedly. I nearly died when she said they didn't have any. Normally it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but I was from out of town and had literally been craving this damn pie for months! And I lied, I didn't nearly die but I DID nearly cry and that's almost as bad. Even the bestie lamented about what a let down this was. Anna. Dear, sweet Anna. We must have looked really hard up because this sweet baby angel offered to ask the cooks if they could whip one up special just for me. Let me tell you why this is a big deal: For one, she didn't need to do that. That's going above and beyond, and she was such a graceful little buttercup when she did it. Second, making a gluten free biscuit is a finicky, precise, detailed process. It sucks, honestly, and I don't blame them for not having them every day. I nearly cried when she came back and told us the cooks said YES. And this time i'm not lying. It was beyond the type of customer service i'm used to. It was.... humane. It was...empathetic. It was...totally first world problems but it meant so much to me! Especially since Anna said it had been a DAY and she was at her wits end. For her to have a rough day and still have the grace and compassion to make my stupid GF/VG chick'n pot pie dreams come true.....well, yeah, it made me a bit teary eyed. The pot pie was delicious, as expected. It was nostalgic and comforting, like a big hug in a bowl. The flavors were rich and deep, the biscuit soft and flaky; it was one of the most delicious things i've tasted on my GF/VEG journey. Between the food, the drinks, the customer service and the drag show......this was five stars all around. No doubt. I don't see the GF chick'n pot pie on their menu anymore. Maybe it's a seasonal thing? I hope it comes back, i'll be checking. And when it pops up again, so will I. Thank you, Anna. Thank you to the cooks on 2/19/26. Thank you to Hot Pink Shade, ISIS and King Leo Mane. Just, thank you.
