5% container and bag fee for banh mis lol
Janet N.

I ordered lunch to-go from here recently. I ordered 6 banh mis that were ready in about 20 mins. I was surprised to see a 5% fee on my receipt for to-go containers and bags despite already being charged separately for a bag and having my banh mis simply wrapped in paper. Not a fan of surprise fees and likely will not be back. Not sure why the pricing doesn't already incorporate the fee for to-go stuff if this place is advertised as a grab n go restaurant.

house shrub soda

Great vegan menu with lots of options! The house shrub soda was passion fruit/strawberry flavor, but mostly tasted like strawberries imo. The shrimps were juicy and flavorful, and the server was friendly. It's a great place for a team/company lunch

Papaya salad, from the green menu

The wait was... odd. There was a long line of people waiting to be seated, and it seemed like they were running out of space the way they asked if people were willing to squeeze onto the patio... and then I found out when using the bathroom that a good half of the restaurant was empty (and they weren't asking about reservations, so that wasn't it). I can only guess they were understaffed when we went. The food here was great! I liked the papaya salad (lots of textures and flavor), the crab noodles (classic simple butter + crab, though admittedly not a TON of crab). The panini dip sandwich was...interesting, tasty, but not really what I was expecting in a Vietnamese restaurant. We tried to order a different chicken dish they were out of before settling for the roast chicken, but the roast chicken was excellent and I'd recommend it! :D Very tender and juicy. I don't think I liked this physical location as much as the other Ba Bars I've been to. It was kind of close to a major street and noisy, and the patio while cute also had bugs :( and the inside was oddly very dark. My favorite is probably the UVillage location :)

Lemongrass Tofu Singapore Noodles

We were seated quickly and our server was polite. It wasn't too busy on a Monday around 5/5:30, so it was easy to walk in and grab a seat. The space is big and comfortable, and I loved that they have a separate vegan menu with lots of options. I ordered the lemongrass tofu Singapore noodles, and it was really flavorful and well made. It was my first time seeing Just Eggs used in a non-breakfast dish, unique and interesting! I do wish they had scrambled it instead of serving cubes, but it was still a fun twist. The portion was generous, enough for dinner with leftovers. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.

The food was excellent! The whole place was a vibe. Great vegan/vegetarian options! We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely visit again next time we're in Seattle. Easy to walk to from Union Lake.

Sweet Potato Laksa

I ordered some sweet potato laksa and some soup from ba bar green at 7 pm on a Friday. Ordering was simple enough using their online system, and a take out charge and bag fee is automatically added. Estimated pick up time was ~10-15 min post ordering, and I got there a little bit early and it was ready to go. I was efficiently handed my food at the pick up window adjacent to the Ba Bar entrance. Everything came well packed, with the liquids rubber banded closed, plenty of soup spoons, chopsticks and napkins. Nothing spilled as I made my way home! The food was incredibly flavorful! Tasted great. Only very very mild complaint was that a lot of the things were lukewarm, with the middles of the sweet potatoes and tofus being cold. Since I was at home this was not a hassle to reheat, but may have been annoying if I had been eating outside somewhere.

Plant Based Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Ba Bar has been a go to for me for ages, but this was my first time trying Ba Bar Green. The service is quick and friendly, and their Vietnamese iced coffee is phenomenal! Despite the lunch rush, the wait staff were smiling and kind. They quickly made my iced coffee to go, and I was in and out within five minutes. I've never had a vegan Vietnamese iced coffee before. The flavor is definitely different, as the condensed milk in regular Vietnamese iced coffee is very distinct. However, the condensed coconut milk in this drink is quite tasty and not too overpowering. I'm impressed with my drink, and I will definitely be back to try food items next time!

The Asian eggplant and vegetarian Pho

Ba Bar Green is bomb.com ! I had the Vegetarian Phở, and it was incredible--the broth was rich, flavorful, and packed with aromatic spices. Every sip was comforting and well-balanced. I also tried the Asian Eggplant and Spinach Tofu Paper Wrap, which was perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. Every bite had a great mix of textures and seasoning. If you're looking for delicious, plant-based Vietnamese food in Seattle, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Ba Bar Green functions as a vegan take-out counter but you can order food and dine inside the full 'Ba Bar' with drinks and the works. My friend and I did that and enjoyed some really bomb Asian inspired vegan food. I ordered their Curry Laksa ($18) and it was my first time having laksa since going plant-based, and it did not disappoint. Thick rice noodles with a spicy, coconut curry with fried tofu, beansprouts, and other veggies - overall very aromatic and tasty. My friend ordered their Dan Dan Mien with Beyond Meat and it was delicious as well. We also cheers to two of their frosty drinks which was perfect for a nice summer Seattle evening. Definitely one of the best spots for a good vegan meal here in the city. If you come towards closing, you can still order and dine inside the bar as long as you make it before their last call.

Tofu sandwich

Stopped by here after work and thought it was pretty decent. They had a promotion this week where you can BOGO banh mi so we opt for that. This place is a green counter outside of their main restaurant and focused solely on vegetarian food. The main restaurant have normal food. They had 3 types available, so we got the tofu and the plant based chorizo sandwich. Typically, each of the sandwich cost $9.75 but with the promo, it's 2 for 1 which is a really good deal. Both sandwich had some highs and lows. The high was that the bread was nicely toasted and stayed perfectly crunchy for a while. The veggies was very refreshing and fresh and nicely pickled and there was a lot :) for the me, the protein was a little of a miss. The tofu was big slabs and sturdy which is good, but lack in flavor. It was very light that you mostly get the flavor from the veggies. The chorizo on the other hand was very salty that you need the veggies to help balance it out. Overall, I wish there was a middle in terms of flavor. Otherwise, it was very tasty. Overall, good/hefty sandwiches and I would come back to try their other offerings

Papaya salad, pre-mixing

Once again came back to ba bar green for takeout on a warm summer evening. Everything is 100% vegan / plant-based, and so incredibly flavorful and delicious. We always get the Dan Dan noodles because my partner says they're the best outside of what he had in China (vegan or not), and this time I tried the papaya salad for the first time. Papaya salad was so flavorful and refreshing, perfect for summer. It came topped with tofu, fried tofu, fried taro strips, tomatoes, mint, onions, and dressing on the side. Be aware that papaya salad is really just a base of grated papaya, there's no lettuces or grain or anything, so you might want to add on something else for a full meal. We'll definitely be back!

Lao Crispy rice and quinoa salad
Richard U.

If your looking for asian cuisine vegan food this is the place to try. It's a walk up window at the Babar SLU serving all vegan friendly versions of sort of an pan-asian menu. Dan dan noodles: uses Beyond meat as the protein. Not my favorite faux meat but covered up with all the sesame and tahini and it tastes pretty good Lao crispy rice and quinoa salad: one of my favorite laotian dishes now using beyond meat sausage substituting for the lao sausage which is a tough ingredient to replace. Crispy rice adds nice texture. Lemongrass tofu Singapore noodles: probably my favorite of the stuff tried today. Lots of different textures between noodles, mushroom and fried shallots. I would get this again for sure. Side of kimchi is a must for any meal and their vegan version still hit all the funky fermented notes. Parking in SLU was once a headache but since the pandemic has significantly depleted SLU of Amazon employees parking is much easier to find. Was able to angle park right outside!

Our waitress was very sweet and did her best during the rush. The space was pretty but we were in the corner of the restaurant so we couldn't see much. I got the shrimp tempura udon and a Shirley Temple while my boyfriend got the salmon poke bowl and a Seattle roll. The food didn't take long to get but it came one by one instead of all at the same time. Also my boyfriend didn't get his poke bowl for the longest time and no one even noticed until we mentioned it to our waitress and she shares the kitchen decided to take their lunch after thinking they were done. The food was alright for what it is as they were generous with portions. I did appreciate the little spicy flakes on my udon, though wish that they would leave it on the table as I would have enjoyed my udon more as it offered a nice spicy kick. The poke bowl was beautifully arranged and had lots of different ingredients. The Shirley Temple was also well made, but no refills. The Seattle roll was rolled up nice with a good ratio of salmon and avocado. The food isn't memorable but it isn't bad for something quick and filling.

It is named after the singer Brandi Carlile, not to be confused with Belinda Carlisle, the lead singer of the Go-Go's. I had the flat iron steak and fries. It came with a peppercorn cream sauce that was fantastic. The steak was cooked medium rare, as I requested, and was quite tasty dipped in the sauce. My sister ordered the beef short ribs and an apricot caprese. The short ribs came with asparagus, a chayote puree, and was topped with a spring onion chermoula, which she removed because it was too spicy. The apricot caprese consisted of whipped mozzarella, mint, sprouts, and pistachios with crostini. It was a big hit. They also have an extensive drink menu and my sister had a Zazzou mocktail made with pineapple juice and hibiscus. She enjoyed it. Both of our meals were served fairly quickly and our waitress was attentive. I highly recommend the Carlile Room for a scrumptious dinner in downtown Seattle.
