There's a lot of creativity here (the ingenious Kale tempura comes to mind), the space has been beautifully redone, and everything I've had across visits has ranged from good to great. The food is not the most traditional, but that's ok. It's not trying to be. Unfortunately their pricing model is fairly confusing and abrasive. The menu is an ocean of add ons. Almost like the CEO of Spirit Airlines tried their hand at being a restauranteur, everything that's usually included at a Korean Restaurant is a separate upcharge here. Take their star dish as an example, the stone pot bibimbap. This starts at $19 which is about average, but includes no protein (+$7 for bulgogi) or any banchan. The bowl is good, yes, but it's not doing anything special enough for me to justify the pricepoint. A Great Casual Spot for Korean Food Clean Korean eats! A gem I found while walking on Sunday. I've had this place on my "must-visit" list for a while, and I finally got to try it. The presentation was stunning, but the taste was just okay for me--not bad, but not particularly memorable either. However, everyone else in our group was very happy with their orders! The Veggie Bibimbap and Stone Pot (Dolsot) Bibimbap were hits, and the Chicken Katsu Curry was great, even with a little spicy kick. The Hamburger Steak was also a crowd-pleaser. The prices have gone up significantly and the quality has gone down. I was really excited to return after they closed for a few months to remodel, but my partner and I left disappointed. We initially thought it was an entirely plant based korean restaurant but you have the option to add proteins if you want. Besides being piping hot, it was a great balance of ginger, lemon and honey making it slightly spiced, sour and sweet. It reminded me of a Chinese drink where the base of the tea would be hot cola. Daily Banchan Plate - I had never seen a menu option like this before and I liked that I could sample a little of everything plus enjoy a variety of flavors. Everything was packed with flavor from the miso soup to the japchae to the individual veggie dishes. It all had the right balance of spices and different textures of crunchy to soft to chewy. My favorites were definitely the soft boiled egg, the crispy kale, the egg with cucumber and the bulgogi with rice. An amazing place for lunch or dinner if you are wanting some vegetarian/vegan options or want to try a variety of dishes for a great price. Daily Banchan Bento (4/5): This is essentially a sampler plate of an eclectic variety of Korean small dishes, like kale tempura, japchae, kimbop, soft tofu, pickled spicy cucumbers, miso soup, and half a soft-boiled egg. Our choice of protein, gochujang chicken, had a powerful grilled char flavor paired with the sweet heat of the peppery gochujang. While all the small dishes were tasty, everything besides the miso soup is served cold, and I feel like their sum doesn't justify the price of a unified and coherent full entree. I like the presentation though -- each dish is plated in its own unique little plate or bowl, with the egg snugly fitted in an egg-shaped bowl! Mom's Medley Bento (5/5): Wow whoever's mom this is sure knows how to make a banging bibimbop!! The tantalizing chorus of the furiously sizzling ingredients in the stone bowl was a melodious precursor for the deliciousness that was about to ensue. Made in House makes some solid Korean dishes with a focus on bibimbops. I had the stone pot bibimbop with the bulgogi ribeye. They were "sold out" of the spicy pork, but how are you sold out of something when they just opened? Well, regardless, the bibimbop was very good. Wish it came with more sauce though. It could've used more. I'm a bit used to getting a squirt bottle of sauce whenever I have bibimbop I guess. Let me decide how saucy I want it! I felt like they gave me such a small amount. I like how perfectly round the egg was on top. Looked like there was a lot of care in getting that right. They had fried kale in it too which I don't usually see in bibimbops, but I liked it a lot. Water and utensils are all self-serve, though waiters do bring your food to you by looking at the number you take after ordering. Staff here are extremely friendly, and the cashier did strike up a conversation with me when I placed my order. I got the mom's medley bibimbap with beef, and my friend got the japchae bop, both of which were extremely delicious and freshly made as the the name of the place implies. Everything balanced very well inside my bibimbap, and it had an ample amount of veggies inside too despite it being the stone pot version. The meat was seasoned very well and everything was to my liking, including when I had a bite of my friend's japchae dish.
