The line is always long but it's sooo worth it! Their banana hojicha is so good and I love the toffee bits. Their matcha is really good too.
Came here on a Friday afternoon and the line was pretty healthy. Finding a parking spot wasn't bad and we waited about 30 mins. Not much of an ambience since you just order and wait for your drinks. My wife and I ordered the pumpkin pie matcha and salted Saigon. The drinks came out super quick! BELIEVE THE HYPE. Both of these drinks were AMAZING. The pumpkin puree was real and tasted like actual pumpkin, unlike the other coffee spots that sell fake pumpkin sauce. The salted saigon is probably the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. No exaggeration.
I wanted to hate this place because how long the wait was but when we finally got to the front we got a matcha 2, and a Saigon drip. I'm so upset the matcha here was so fire cause now I have to wait in the stupid long line again. Coffee was good too very nutty but the matcha was the star so def recommend getting one. Service was also very nice, she brought our drinks out to us.
I was impressed by the variety of coffee and matcha drinks that are here! You could have a range of fruity and tropical drinks to more rich, spice forward drinks. Because it was Summer, I opted for the guava Matcha because it sounded very refreshing. I was surprised with how not too sweet and light it was, but it was still packed with wonderful guava flavor. I was more impressed that they hand whisk every Matcha drink in a bowl, but still, they deliver with speed, efficiency, and quality. My sister got the Matcha with banana and that one was very good. You can tell they use real banana. My only thing is I believe the bananas weren't ripe enough, but I know that it is hard to always have the perfect ripeness for bananas because of demand. This is definitely a grab and go establishment. There is no inside seating or bathrooms. I do advise you to use the bathroom before because all the restaurants nearby will not allow you to use the restroom unless you make a purchase. I definitely want to try the coffee drinks next time because their name has coffee in the title so I should try what they are known for by name!
OVERALL : This was my second time at Ayer. The first time I tried their classic matcha latte w/ matcha foam, mango matcha, and strawberry matcha. The drinks were perfectly creamy esp w/ oat milk, and matcha was strong enough to hold up against all the different flavors. There's always a line out the door on a weekend afternoon, but we only waited about 20 mins and the drinks were well worth the wait. Service was super friendly and helpful w/ reccs. Note that this is more of a take-and-go spot, not for sitting inside. PARKING : There is a parking lot but it is small; might need to make some rounds before you can find a spot. The plaza gets pretty crowded during peak hours! FOOD/DRINKS : Guava Matcha Latte - sweet and refreshing, the guava doesn't overpower the matcha taste and it's a good summer drink! strawberry is prob still my go to though when I want a fruity matcha Pumpkin Matcha Latte - their fall seasonal drink! so surprisingly good - this reminded me of a pumpkin pie esp with the prominent pumpkin taste + the warm fall spices! Would def get again.
Got the Matcha Two and would say that it's just alright. The lines outside are long but moves quickly. I do appreciate how efficient the workers are in taking orders and making the drinks.
We'd driven past countless times and there was always a line, so we finally stopped in. The wait is real, and it comes from two things. The ordering setup is inefficient -- you give your order to one employee who writes it on the cup, then repeat the whole thing to a second employee to pay. That part could easily be streamlined. But the other reason is that they hand-whisk the matcha fresh to order, and I'll give them full credit for that. Most places don't bother. You can tell they care about the process. Which makes it harder to say this: the matcha itself just wasn't good. It came out grainy with an artificial taste. I ordered the salted vanilla matcha cream top, and the vanilla and milk powder flavor overpowered whatever matcha was underneath. Three stars because the effort and intention are clearly there -- it's the execution on the matcha that missed for me. They're a roaster, so the coffee is probably the stronger order, and I'd try that next time.
coconut iced coffee - should've asked for much less sweet, it's super sweet but I like the coconutiness I also tried a bit of the mango matcha (less less sweet) and it was better than I expected actually there was quite a bit of a line but it went by pretty fast staff is very friendly
Got the Mango Matcha and it was amazing! This place always has a line but I would say it is completely worth it. The service is always fast and super friendly. It is a small little shop and parking can be better but overall a must try in Tustin!
As someone who just flew down from the Bay Area, my goal is to try out different drink stops every time I visit. I was hesitant at first because of how long the line looked, but after some easy self-convincing I ended up joining that line, and I do not regret it all. I visited on a Wednesday early afternoon, and the line was already long. Usually not surprised it has a lime because of the fact that they close early. I waited 30 mins total to order and get my drink, which wasn't terrible. You order with 1 worker, she writes it down on the cup, and then you go and pay right after, and then someone brings the drink out to you, which was very nice! Since I was alone, and I'm not local, I decided to treat myself and get 2 drinks, the blueberry matcha and their banana coffee. And it was amazing!! Couldn't stop chugging both of them. Loved loved each of their flavors. So very highly recommended if you are into sweeter drinks or flavored drinks!
Pretty solid coffee and really really good matcha per my wife LOL. I'm not a huge matcha person so I can't really tell the difference, but she told me it's worth the hype! Don't get discouraged when you see the line outside. They only let 1-3 people inside at a time to order so everyone has to wait outside. I was at the end of the 1st/2nd store? and it only took about 10min to order. There was about 10-13 people in front of me. Then it took about another 10min to get my order, so it wasn't a terrible wait. Ordered Banana Coffee - 4/5 - nothing crazy viet coffee with bananas, but one of the better ones Matcha 1 - for pure matcha flavors Matcha 2 - for some light dressing on the matcha salted matcha foam Salted Bread - 3/5 idk just tasted like bread with butter/salt LMAO Personally if I have to wait 30min+ i wouldn't but if you can get there early and it's only around 10min wait I think it's a solid spot.
There is a reason why this place is so popular. Lines are always long, parking is a hit or miss. But the drinks make it soooo worth it. I keep coming back regardless of the line and parking. It's definitely worth the hype. The matcha's I've tried are Blueberry, Banana, Guava, and Pumpkin Pie. My favorite would probably be the Blueberry! I always keep coming back for more. You won't be disappointed!
This place is defiantly very very popular at the moment but for good reason. Ive been seeing this place on all the top matcha lists in OC and it has contention for sure. My only critic is that the matcha itself is a little gritty. I got a guava matcha latte and the color is amazing and the taste of the matcha itself has a subtly sweetness that everyone can get behind. The gritty texture may be due to the mass production that they are handling for the growing line. Regardless it was worth the hour wait! My bf loved their banana viet coffee and wishes we got 2 of those to begin with. I believe all the coffees are made with viet coffee bases but i could be wrong.
Pretty efficient cafe. Though the line is long, it's a pretty quick in and out once you order. We got the matcha 2 which was a matcha latte with a vanilla cream foam on top. I had heard lots of thyme about Ayer but personally don't get it! The matcha itself was fine, could have been stronger and I wasn't a huge fan of the foam. I wish it was sweeter/more vanilla-y. I wouldn't write off this place though and would be down to come again and try another drink or maybe even the same one in case this was an off day. On another note, the baristas are very friendly and kind and make it a positive environment! read more
A long wait but kinda worth it! Long line in the little complex but it moved quicker than expected. Parking is a hassle but it's not like LA parking. From back of the line to getting our drinks in hand took about 45-50 minutes, it felt quicker than that though. Went on a Saturday afternoon about an hour before closing. Staff were very friendly and kind. Made our drinks beautifully. Inside is very small but it's meant to have more space for the kind staff to make as many drinks as possible. Banana Coffee - 9.5/10, the best in the county for sure, the fresh banana pieces are a nice touch and the banana cream and coffee tasted great. Mango Matcha - 6/10. Mango puree tasted AMAZING before mixing, after mixing it kinda got lost in the matcha. Matcha was slightly grainy but it still tasted good. I would wait in line for the coffee again 100%, but I would try the other matcha as well. read more
Ayer is my absolute favorite matcha place in Orange County. I am a matcha snob. If you love strong matcha, their matcha 3 is quite loaded with matcha, the matcha gelato in it is chef's kiss, as it melts the iciness makes the drink so extra yummy. I recently tried the guava matcha and added a matcha cream top because I like my matcha strong and creamy and WOW I am seriously impressed. I did get the mango matcha once and I thought it was okay~ not my fave mango matcha. Downside is the parking lot which can be quite busy and also the wait is always at least 20 minutes to 1 hour. You can't be in a hurry if you grab matcha here. I haven't tried the coffee yet. The workers are always kind. The shop itself is quite tiny and there is a singular tiny bench you can sit in and wait for your drinks. Otherwise it's a grab your drink and go type of place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more
Small coffee spot located in a strip mall in Tustin. I was in the area looking for pick me up. This place came up and got me curious. It has a pretty good size lot in parking was pretty easy to find. As soon as I walked up, I noticed a line and a few people waiting for their orders. This place seemed very popular. When it was my turn to order, the people were very friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering the banana, coffee, which was a Vietnamese iced coffee with a banana cream top. It was perfect for what I wanted in at the time. Pretty quick In-N-Out and getting a deliciously made beverage. So easy and so delicious. read more

Got in line at 10:35am on a Friday. Got my drinks at 11:15. Was it worth it? If you have time, yes! The matcha 2 and salted Saigon were incredible. They were out of bread which was a bummer. Service was sooo friendly and helpful. The price is pretty good too. I've had really good matchas at a couple other places, that were a bit more expensive but shorter wait. So, you decide if you want it. I'll be back for that salt bread! read more

Solid! Came here on a Thursday morning around 9:10am, and there was a line. It took about 25 minutes from getting in line to getting our drinks. I got Matcha Two, which is like an einspanner. It was really good, creamy, not too sweet, and matcha didn't feel watered down. My friend got the Salted Saigon, and he said it was better than BLK dot, and on par with Phinsmith. We also got the Korean salt bread, coz everyone was getting them. It was just okay, a bit dry inside and bland. I have had better. Also very overpriced at $4.50 a piece. They have them at Tous Les Jours (Hmart) for $2.95. In fact, I think everything was kinda expensive here. The Matcha two was $8 and the Salted Saigon was $6.5. Parking lot was pretty open, and we didn't have trouble finding parking. It's an outdated striped mall, but it's easy to spot the shop because of the line outside. It's very small inside, and grab n go kinda setup. read more
Three visits in and I'm not slowing down. Ayer isn't just living up to the hype, definitely exceeded my expectations. The banana coffee hits different, the Matcha Two is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, and the mango and strawberry matchas are refreshing without being overly sugary... they're so damn tasty Even the Spanish latte holds its own and that's something in would normally not order. Every drink feels intentional; like someone actually cared about what went into your cup. This is central OC's next obsession, and if you haven't been yet, you're tripping. My first time playing as a random Thursday at like 2 or 2;30 and it had a pretty long line. The good thing is it really does move fast and their efficient. After trying the drinks it's no shocker or surprise why it stays busy 24/7 Hopefully I get to try the salted Bread sometime as it tends To run out daily! read more
Their Matcha 2 is so good! It's so rich, and not too sweet for me. I came around after lunchtime and there was a line. And I think this place always has line so just be prepared. There's plenty of parking in the plaza though and there's like little shops around the area too. They have small menus, so it's easy to decide and the staff is knowledgeable to recommend based on your liking. Can't wait to be back! This place doesn't have any table so it's kinda like grab and go type of shop. I love the vibe here. read more
Absolutely love this place and their matcha! I've been getting the matcha here forever but decided to try to the Spanish phin, and it was perfect. Strong like a Vietnamese coffee, and the cinnamon added a different touch to it. The matcha here is so addicting, you can taste the matcha and it's the perfect sweetness (I got mine less sugar) I do wish I could bring my friends here to drink and hang out, but there's no seating and the ordering system is a bit inefficient. You order with the barista then the person at the kiosk punches in your order read more

Line was long however it was moving fast! The employees were also so kind. I got the black sesame matcha and it is so balanced. The matcha itself was more nuttier than other matcha places and I love that it's slighty sweet. The black sesame cream itself was so creamy and didn't overpower the matcha. Yummy read more
Parking: Large free parking plaza still quite packed. Interior: Small shop only with order and take out counter. No seats. Wait Time: 20min wait on a weekend afternoon. 5-10min for drink order. Items Order: 8/10 Mango Matcha $7.50 - Initially sweetness was closer to 10-20% so it was very light and had to ask for adjustment. Staff were nice and were able accommodate. Matcha was solid in flavor and mango was very natural and medium in strength. Not too creamy but size is small. read more
This is one of my top places to get matcha in OC! I love their matcha mango, which doesnt taste too artificial or sweet- the matcha flavor is perfect! I also tried their matcha two, i personally enjoy getting their vanilla top instead as the matcha foam is pretty strong! Nonetheless the service is always friendly and fast despite the long lines. On a Saturday the line was halfway down the block (25 min wait) and parking was a hassle... but on a random weekday the lines were not too long! The store itself is only for order and go so no seats! But I love how they enforce having people wait outside to order to control the crowd. I do hear their salt bread is good so I will be sure to try that when its not sold out! read more
Super yummy coffee/matcha spot. Parking lot is a little small though so it might take a sec to find a spot if you go at a busy time Banana coffee: 5/5 loved that it didn't have that artificial banana flavor My friend also really liked her mango matcha read more
I would wait in this line any day! Best best matcha and coffee! I have been here so many times and the vibe is always the same. The customer service is outstanding! Appreciate the quality of matcha and coffee. They're killing it. The coconuts latte has the perfect taste and sweetness. read more

really wanted to try it because it's been pretty popular on social media. when we got in, there was a huge line on a weekday at around 2:30pm. once we went inside and ordered, the drinks came out pretty quick. we ordered the coconut water matcha and the mango matcha. i really liked the coconut water, super refreshing! the matcha foam on top could be sweeter but overall good. the mango matcha was pretty good too. read more

The wait for this matcha spot was around an hour on a random weekday morning. After trying the matcha, I can understand why. We tried the mango and blueberry matcha and they were both phenomenal, with real fruit flavors. The salt bread was also yummy read more
The line was really long and the parking lot fills up quick, but they have a quick turnaround time on orders so it kinda cancels out. Not the type of place where you can chill and enjoy your drink either since it's a very small cafe with little to no seating. The Matcha 2 was slightly earthy and not too sweet, which I appreciated. For those who like to be a bit more adventurous, they also offer other flavors, like the Mango Matcha or the Blueberry Matcha. read more
Checked out Ayer Coffee and really liked it! Got the double matcha and the strawberry matcha, and I have to say that it is one of my favorite strawberry matchas that I have tried! It was perfectly balanced and tasted like real strawberries rather than a strawberry jam. The double matcha was also very smooth and balanced. To order, there is a line that starts outside of the coffee shop. A staff member will call you in when they are ready. Then, you order at the counter and pay at a separate register. Since it is a smaller shop, you wait outside for your drink. Super simple shop with good drinks!! read more

Omg wow! When I pulled into the parking lot at the strip mall that this shop was located in, I saw a very long line. And it made me second guess whether or not I wanted to stand in line or check the next nearest coffee shop. I'm so glad I stayed in line. I wouldn't call it a cafe cuz there's no real place to sit. It's a walk up counter which is why the line is out the door. They have a pretty good system, one area to order and another to pay. They bring the drinks out to you while you wait outside. Their menu is amazing! You can choose from Vietnamese coffee options and matcha options. It was so hard to narrow it down to one option since I wanted to try so many. I decided on a banana hojicha latte. Whoa! I loved the earthy flavor of the hojicha perfectly balanced by the sweet banana cream! It's not a menu option that you'll find everywhere so I am so glad that I gave it a try. I won't hesitate to stop by again and stand in the long line to try another option soon. Super yummy!! read more

My friend has been wanting to try this place for so long, and we finally had the chance to go. When I first got there on a Saturday around 10:30am, the line was already super long. They let 1 customer in one at a time to order, which was probably why the line was long. However, we didn't have to wait too long to get our drinks. The mango matcha had a strong mango taste, so I recommend it to my mango lovers. As for the banana, I do wish I tasted more of the banana. read more

LOVEEEE!!!! Gave this viral spot a visit with my mom and my sister on a Monday at around 3 pm and that line was longggg! It moved pretty quick though so the wait wasn't too bad and the drinks came out fast once we ordered. We got a matcha 1, strawberry matcha, and a matcha cream coconut with guava puree. the coconut and guava one was seriously unreal I'm still thinking about it!!! The guava matcha sounded really good but I wanted something a little bit lighter than oat milk so the coconut water was perfect. I can't wait to come back soon read more
Honestly I've been on a strawberry latte kick and it's been my mission to try all the ones in the area. This is hands down the best one I've had, not even lying. The purée is soo good! The Saigon salt is good but tastes like your traditional Vietnamese coffee which i feel many other places have done just as well. The salt foam on the top was good though. I will b coming back 100% read more
Wow, just wow. The mango matcha here is definitely a must try for any matcha lovers in OC. I would put it on par with the likes of Airoma for fruity matcha drinks. We were served our drinks relatively quickly, the shop is quite small and there's only seating for waiting. On the weekends and during peak hours, the line can get quite long so I would call in advance if that's a concern for you. The mango puree in the drink is noticable and goes well with the matcha. I really enjoyed the taste of this drink at 75% sweet and am definitely coming back for more! read more

Solid matcha... My friend swooped us drinks before our day at the beach, and I opted for the banana matcha. This is probably the first banana matcha I've had where the banana flavor wasn't artificial tasting, which I appreciated. Didn't enjoy this in there, so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but will try another drink when I'm in the area. read more

FAVEEEEE matcha spot these days! so blessed that it's on my way to work i've been to Ayer multiple times now, and it NEVER disappoints. i usually try to arrive @ opening 8am or a little earlier because there WILL be a line - don't be scared off! the staff inside the little storefront is super friendly and they work hard, efficiently, and quickly, so if you have time and there's a line, i think it's 10000% worth it. my favorites: - mango matcha : this place has my absolute favorite mango matcha. the flavor is just chef's kiss!! it's literally made to perfection every time, and it's the perfect balance of quality-grade matcha and mango flavor. it's hard for me to not order this every time oops - blueberry matcha : sooo pleasantly surprised by this one bc i don't typically care for blueberry, but i had to try bc it looked yum! and it IS. it's so unique and the sweetness of the blueberry puree marries so nicely with the umami matcha - matcha two: the BEST standard matcha !! i usually like flavored/fruit matcha, but this one is just an explosion of deliciousness that gets me goin in the morning LOL - i still have to try the matcha three with the sorbet - salt bread: ALLLLWAYS get the salt bread! another reason i only like going during opening is to make sure i can get my hands on one of these bc it just pairs so perfectly with a yum lil bev all in all 20/10 easily! i'm already looking forward to my next visit haha thank you to the ayer team for a great matcha spot! read more
Space is quite limited inside so there is always a line out the door. This is definitely a grab and go spot as there is no room inside to hang out. The staff is very friendly every time and they are always hard at work hand whisking matchas. The matcha here is strong, smooth and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their matchas. My go-to is the coconut water matcha; it's light and refreshing! The only thing I hate about this place is the awful parking lot. It's very small and always full :( read more
Everyone put your hands in the air for ayer coffee and wave them like you just don't cayer. Service and drinks are always good. I've tried most of the drinks and they're honestly all good but the blueberry can get stuck in your teeth. You will need to wait in line for 15-20 minutes usually and make sure you don't stand in the doorway because you'll block the worker... read more

I always come at 8am when they open to TRY and beat the long lines. So at 8am, i'm standing in line to receiving my order, took 25 minutes. Imagine any other time during the day! But it's worth it. Anything here is absolutely perfect and delicious from their iced coffees to their iced Matcha seriously order anything and you'll love it! read more
