Was in the OC area and craving matcha, so we decided to try this spot. It's relatively small inside, but the vibe was cute and cozy. The staff was really friendly and seemed to work well together. The matcha was really good, not too sweet, not overly milky, and not bitter. My boyfriend tried the blueberry matcha and surprisingly it didn't taste syrupy or artificial at all. It had a really fresh blueberry flavor without that candle-like taste some places have. We actually finished our drinks before we even left the plaza, which says a lot because we usually take forever to finish drinks. Definitely a solid matcha spot.
One of the best matcha spots in OC! I arrived around 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon. I was able to fine parking quickly which was nice because it's a tiny parking lot. There was a long line in front of the store and waited in line for about 10-15 minutes. I was looking through the window and saw they hand whisked all of the matcha, which is why it takes a long time. They also had one person taking the orders and one person in charge of payment. They don't do online orders. It's also the place you grab and go since it's small inside with one bench. I got my drink 10 minutes after ordering. I ordered the matcha one which is just matcha with oat milk and less sweetness. I like that all their drinks have oat milk since I don't like paying extra for it. It was so good! The matcha flavor was definitely strong and goes well with the oat milk. Would definitely come back and bring a friend to show this place! :-)
Definitely the best Vietnamese coffee I've had, and I've tried a lot. The Salted Saigon had the perfect balance of flavors. My friend got the Coconut Matcha and it was surprisingly delicious too. The line looks intimidating but moved pretty fast -- about 20 mins when we went and totally worth it. Parking can be rough. Amazing service too, the ladies working there were so sweet and welcoming.
After having Ayer Coffee bookmarked for a while, I finally had the chance to try it out the other day. I pulled up around 9am and there was already a line of people waiting to order, which I thought meant their coffee/matcha drinks must be delicious and worth trying. And their matcha was worth it. The line went by fast, and the staff was so sweet. I got the Matcha One and a salt bread. The flavor of the matcha was so well-balanced. Not grainy at all and the color of the matcha was beautiful. Only thing is their drinks all include oat milk and there aren't alternative milk options, which I didn't realize until I was in line. I'm not the biggest fan of oat milk so that kinda affected my taste. However, the salt bread was really good! Buttery, soft, and not too salty. Because of my aversion to oat milk, I probably won't be back. But I will definitely recommend this spot to people that don't mind oat milk!
Always a line outside this cafe and totally deserved. I usually opt to get their matcha one but this time tried their coconut water matcha cream top and loved how refreshing it was! I'm not the biggest fan of matcha cream tops as they tend to be overly sweet but this one had a perfect balance. Also pro tip if you buy one of their matcha tins you get a free drink with the order!

[Parking]: Easy and free strip mall parking. [Atmosphere]: This is a grab-and-go-only shop with no indoor tables. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Mango Matcha, Salted Saigon, and Matcha Latte. They also sell Korean salt bread in limited quantity, so come early before it sells out. *** Signature Korean Salt Bread (Limited Daily - $4.50): A bit cold but tasted good. Mango Matcha (Made with oat milk & mango purée - $7.50): I see the appeal - the drink was quite good. The matcha did not taste overly diluted and the sweetness level was solid. *** Overall this is a 5-star-worthy matcha shop in Orange County.
Pretty efficient cafe. Though the line is long, it's a pretty quick in and out once you order. We got the matcha 2 which was a matcha latte with a vanilla cream foam on top. I had heard lots of thyme about Ayer but personally don't get it! The matcha itself was fine, could have been stronger and I wasn't a huge fan of the foam. I wish it was sweeter/more vanilla-y. I wouldn't write off this place though and would be down to come again and try another drink or maybe even the same one in case this was an off day. On another note, the baristas are very friendly and kind and make it a positive environment!
It's organized and run efficiently. The line wasn't too bad and imo moves quickly. Once you order and pay, the drinks come out fast. The cashier was super friendly and very cheery. I got Matcha Two and my sister got Mango Matcha. I was between Matcha Two and Strawberry Matcha but decided to go with Matcha Two. It was satisfactory, but I've had better. My sister really wanted to try their Signature Korean Salt Bread but they had already sold out. They probably had literally just sold out shortly before because we saw people eating it/ were able to purchase one. Parking was easy to find. We got a parking spot right in front of the store.
A long wait but kinda worth it! Long line in the little complex but it moved quicker than expected. Parking is a hassle but it's not like LA parking. From back of the line to getting our drinks in hand took about 45-50 minutes, it felt quicker than that though. Went on a Saturday afternoon about an hour before closing. Staff were very friendly and kind. Made our drinks beautifully. Inside is very small but it's meant to have more space for the kind staff to make as many drinks as possible. Banana Coffee - 9.5/10, the best in the county for sure, the fresh banana pieces are a nice touch and the banana cream and coffee tasted great. Mango Matcha - 6/10. Mango puree tasted AMAZING before mixing, after mixing it kinda got lost in the matcha. Matcha was slightly grainy but it still tasted good. I would wait in line for the coffee again 100%, but I would try the other matcha as well.
Mango Matcha 4/5 I was hesitant to try the Mango Matcha, but I'm glad I did. Who knew mango and matcha was a good pairing? It's also one of their most popular drinks. The sweet mango purée and smooth matcha combination is worth trying. Matcha Two 4/5 My sister said hers was okay and that she has had better double matcha drinks in the Los Angeles area. The place is small. They only allow one party at a time, so there's always a line outside. The staff are always friendly and upbeat. Come early if you want to try their salt bread. I've missed it twice and this morning, the person in front of us got the last one. So sad.
Saturday morning wait was about 20 minutes, but the line moved quickly. We got a matcha two and a mango matcha. The matcha is smooth, and the drinks are not too sweet. Mango matcha tastes like real mango and is appropriately sweet as well. The shop is very small in a strip mall, so it's easy to miss. People are very nice and would totally go here again.
Three visits in and I'm not slowing down. Ayer isn't just living up to the hype, definitely exceeded my expectations. The banana coffee hits different, the Matcha Two is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, and the mango and strawberry matchas are refreshing without being overly sugary... they're so damn tasty Even the Spanish latte holds its own and that's something in would normally not order. Every drink feels intentional; like someone actually cared about what went into your cup. This is central OC's next obsession, and if you haven't been yet, you're tripping. My first time playing as a random Thursday at like 2 or 2;30 and it had a pretty long line. The good thing is it really does move fast and their efficient. After trying the drinks it's no shocker or surprise why it stays busy 24/7 Hopefully I get to try the salted Bread sometime as it tends To run out daily!

Fantastic place for an unique coffee. Went here for coffee to wake myself up before training in the area. Big & easy finding parking. The place is small since majority of space inside is for preparing coffee and others. There is a line outside that have to wait til the inside (order area) is or are (2 registers, order & pay) available. After ordering you have to wait outside for the orders once it completed, they will bring it out to you by calling your name. It's easy and fast and the menu is simple. The place is clean and organized, the staff are friendly and helpful. The coffee is fantastic and well prepared. You can tasted with care and well make to your liking. Really enjoyed it a lot. There is not really seat for dine in, it's for to go only. read more

Make sure you don't go at peak hours if you hate waiting (lunchtime). I got the Banana coffee and the Salted Saigon Drip. I loved the almonds and toffee combo of topping on the banana coffee I'd rate my coffee a solid (8/10) I do wish it had more banana in it. The Saigon was about a (7/10) it had lots of different notes but I would say it tastes like coffee and chocolate. read more
I'm on a mission to try different matchas. I heard a lot about this and I liked this but didn't love it. It's good but wouldn't go back unless I'm in the area. It has a certain nutty bitterness to it. But it's good. The service gave it a 4/5. The drink is like 3.5/5. read more

Tried this matcha spot with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. It definitely delivered. I really appreciate that they let you adjust the sweetness level, so I opted for less sugar, and it came out perfectly balanced. I ordered the Matcha One latte with oat milk, and it was honestly so smooth. The matcha itself had a strong, rich flavor without being bitter, and the oat milk complemented it really well. You can tell they don't hold back on the matcha either. I definitely felt the caffeine kick in, which I love. Just a heads up, the space is very small with no table seating, so it's more of a grab and go kind of spot. With that said, the staff was efficient and quick, keeping things moving even in a tight space. Overall, a solid matcha spot if you're looking for quality and a good caffeine boost. Ayer Coffee in Tustin is a matcha lover's dream! We tried the Matcha 2 and the Coconut Water Matcha, and both were seriously delicious--smooth, flavorful, and refreshing. Parking is pretty manageable, though just a heads-up, there's no seating inside. But the staff made the experience extra fun--they even gave us a cute orange bag for our cupholder, which was such a thoughtful touch! Perfect spot to grab a high-quality matcha to-go and brighten your day. read more
Definitely an order and go coffee place. There is no seating inside. A line starts outside the building prior to you making your order. Luckily when I went, the lines were not very long, but it seems like it can be busy at peak hours. Parking in the area is also limited. There were a few items on the menu that I wanted to try but my friend recommended the Matcha 2 - which had salted matcha vanilla cream. Loved it! You can taste the rich and deep flavor of the matcha latte and also not too sweet. read more
Come get your matcha fixxxx. They got three different levels and I enjoyed the matcha 2. Probably going to be a long line but they keep it moving. Matcha 2: Gettt We actually subbed the vanilla syrup for normal syrup and it was so gooodddd. It wasn't too sweet by default and it was so light and creamy still. There's hella other coffees which all sounded good so I'm excited to come back and try the other ones too. They ran out of salt bread when we were there so we were sad :( There's almost no room inside and the line is wrapped around the outside. With around 8ish people in line I waited maybe 15 minutes? Space is quite limited inside so there is always a line out the door. This is definitely a grab and go spot as there is no room inside to hang out. The staff is very friendly every time and they are always hard at work hand whisking matchas. The matcha here is strong, smooth and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their matchas. My go-to is the coconut water matcha; it's light and refreshing! The only thing I hate about this place is the awful parking lot. It's very small and always full :( read more
We went on a Sunday morning and waited in a long line (~30 minutes). I didn't realize this place was in its soft opening phase, new/trending; I just picked it because it was the closest spot (there doesn't seem to be many in the Tustin/North Irvine area) that had matcha. Space is really small. Only standing room inside to order. No tables outside, we sat on the ground. Parking in the plaza fills up. Ordered the Matcha One, Matcha Two, and the iced Coconut Coffee. Unfortunately, the matcha was not good. It didn't have the earthy taste and I don't like oat milk in my matcha because it's too sweet. The coffee seemed solid. Strong taste. As for the salt bread... apparently it's super popular since everyone in line was buying a ton of it. I decided to try it, and I didn't like it. It tasted bland and wasn't fluffy at all, more like a dry dinner roll. Maybe I just don't know what I'm supposed to appreciate about it. Located in a small strip mall. parking was a bit difficult mostly cause it's just so busy and parking isn't huge. Came here on a Sunday afternoon about 2pm. Line was a ways out the door, about a couple businesses down. It was not a fast moving so I was hoping this place was worth the hype. From wait time to actually getting our order, it was about 45 mins! So, verdict...? 1. Coconut Pandan Green rice- 4 stars -not overly sweet, you taste the pandan, mellow coconut and surprisingly, rice bits. It was a blended drink that was refreshing but not sure if it'd be something would could drink fully. But overall nice surprise, felt like a light dessert. 2. Salted Saigon - 5 stars - if I were to come here again, this would be my go to. I loved the rich creaminess of it that balanced the coffee. 3. Banana coffee- 3 stars - I'm I huge banana coffee lover but this was a bit of a miss for me. You taste a nice fresh banana flavor, it just felt a bit heavy than refreshing. Overall my expectations were probably a bit higher considering the wait time and no online ordering option. I'm a matcha lover also but with the bountiful options of matcha places around Tustin / Irvine /costa Mesa, I'd choose another than waiting that long again. Drinks overall I'd give 4 stars but that wait is where I'd dock a star. Not worth it. read more

By far the best blueberry matcha I've tried! Their matcha is hand whisked with a generous amount of matcha powder. I can't wait to return & try their other creative drinks like the mango matcha. Best matcha spot in OC hands downnnnn. I've tried at least 5 drinks from here and they are all soooo good. My fav is the matcha 2, but their mango and banana matcha is also a MUST!!! Line gets long but once you get inside the service is super fast & the staff is all so kind. I also like buying the matcha tins to make at home! UPDATE: I tried their salt bread at their grand opening and everyday I've gone after, they've been sold out. Finally came today at 9am and it was sold out LMAO I'm sadddd I wish they had more to get throughout the day! read more
I've been wanting to try this cute cafe after seeing it trend on social media! I got the matcha two, which was pretty strong and creamy, though I think their vanilla cream and syrup overpowered the matcha flavor. I also felt the same way about the hojicha, it could have had a stronger tea flavor and less vanilla. I also got the salt bread, which came in a pretty big size and had a nice flaky salt on top. I wish they baked them more frequently, as I had to warm mine up in the microwave and the bottom could have been crispier. Since they are pretty new, the ordering system is a little complicated. The wait on weekends is always super long, so I would definitely wait for the hype to die down a bit before visiting. read more

Sooooo good!!! Their coconut water is Harmless Harvest and I loveeee their coconut water, mixed with their sea salt matcha foam was such a great touch. Their is a line out the door since they don't have a big area inside for dine in, but the line moves pretty fast. Highly recommend coming here and was such a great first visit! read more
I'm so sorry but this was such a disappointment :( Drove 40 min to try Ayer since we are big matcha and coffee fans & I was so disappointed! I thought I was going to love it. I ordered a blueberry coffee and it was undrinkable. It was overly sweet but also bitter. I think they use Vietnamese coffee but the blend of the default oat milk and blueberry syrup just didn't work for me at all. I couldn't even drink it :( I also tried the mango matcha & didn't care for it either. I think their drinks are very sweet especially with the added oat milk. I wish their default wasn't oat milk! The cashiers are very nice and friendly there & the line moves quickly. read more

TLDR: longest lines and $$$ but it's still the best matcha in oc Their triple matcha is the best matcha in OC and if that's too heavy, get the matcha one with a scoop of sorbet. They are in the shittiest mall, the lines can get astronomical, and it costs a kidney to come here regularly, but it's (unfortunately) worth it. See you next week Ayer.. read more
Pretty solid matcha, doesn't taste watered down at all! However, there is a really long line and no seating. It's more of a grab and go place! I personally like a more sweeter vanilla cold foam rather than sea salt, but I still think it was a great matcha! There is parking but sometimes can get full. I genuinely think Ayer Coffee has the best matcha in all of OC. Ever since they opened, I've been there 4-5 times a week and somehow still haven't gotten tired of it. The quality and consistency are honestly unmatched. I've tried pretty much every drink on the menu at this point, and every single visit tastes just as good as the last, which is rare these days. Yes, the line can get long sometimes, but the staff does such a great job moving things quickly while still being friendly and attentive. You never feel rushed, and they're always happy to answer questions or make recommendations. Their new guava matcha is AMAZING! Super unique and refreshing without being overly sweet. I've already convinced a bunch of my friends and family to try Ayer and now they're hooked too. Even my dad, who visits Vietnam often and is very picky about coffee, said he liked the coffee at Ayer even more. I've also purchased their Saigon blend to make Vietnamese coffee at home, and the staff were incredibly helpful in guiding me on how to brew it properly. You can tell they genuinely care about both the quality of their drinks and the customer experience. Ayer deserves all the hype. Easily one of my favorite coffee spots ever. read more
Totally worth getting in line! It moves fairly quickly. It's a grab and go type of spot as the shop is very small. You order, pay, and then wait for your drink outside. I got the mango matcha and was blown away! You'll love it if you like the sweet Asian mangos! Their drinks also come with oat milk as default. I also appreciated how they whisk their matcha in matcha bowls after you order! No premade drinks here! The workers were so sweet and helpful. Can't wait to come back to try other drinks! read more

The hype here is absolutely worth it! I have been here four times now, and I think the worst time to go is between 10AM and noon on the weekends. Any time earlier than that on the weekends or any weekday will have a much shorter line. Regardless, the line moves relatively fast, and the ordering process is relatively efficient, so I wouldn't let the line deter you too much from a delicious cup of matcha. I have ordered the Matcha 2, and the salted matcha cream top is the cherry on top of an already rich and deeply flavorful matcha latte. Getting it half sweet is perfect, and you can taste the umami and slight bitterness of the matcha. I have also tried the Salted Saigon, which is also indulgently delicious. The salted vanilla cream top cuts the strong Vietnamese coffee and balances it out perfectly. You order at a counter, then repeat your order to the cashier on the right side of the counter, who will ring you up. You also order the salt bread with the cashier. The salt breads sell out early for good reason! The buttery, salty crust that forms on the bottom of the bread roll is heavenly (I would recommend taking it home and heating it up in a toaster oven for maximal crunch). No seating inside, so be sure to find another place to enjoy your latte and bread! read more
Matcha Three is my favorite. It's matcha 3 ways of drink, foam, and sorbet. I've also had their coconut matcha and mango matcha. Everything I've ordered from here so far I've enjoyed. The workers are always very nice and smile. Lines can still be pretty long during peak times. The same can go for parking in the plaza. read more
This one has been on my list for a while and every time I drive into the parking lot and if the line is super long, I just leave and try again another time. Well today was the day! No line and got a chance to try the Matcha 2 and the banana matcha with house made banana pudding. All I can say is... the line is worth it. Very good matcha! When we left, the line got really long so we beat the crowd. Will I stand in line the future? Probably not because I don't like waiting, but if I drive by and the line seems descent, I will stop for sure. Parking lot is small and shares with many restaurants. I can see it being congested during peak hours. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

Hands down one of the best matchas I've had recently. The matcha one was perfect - earthy and not too sweet. My daughter loved the mango milk! I thought it was a bit on the sweet side, but she was one happy camper. They were sold out of the sweet bread, so I'll need to try that next time! The employees were nice and happy to be there. The line was pretty long, but went fast. Parking wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, but got a spot after a couple circles. Totally recommend is you are a matcha fan! read more

When I say this is the best matcha drink I've ever drank, there is no lie in my statement! I've tried different matcha drinks around OC and none of them compare to Ayer's. I can see why there's usually a line, but the wait is so worth it! There's plenty of parking in this plaza. After hearing about this place for the past few months, I finally had a chance to check it out. I wish I hadn't waited so long to try this place because it is fantastic, and I can see why there is always a small line out the door. Ayer's located in a plaza with plenty of parking and the shop itself is quite small, so you'll need to wait out front until you get called in. The staff are super friendly, and you can see everyone spending so much time and effort to make sure the drinks are prepared as best as possible. I also appreciate that they offer to make adjustments after you try them, making sure you are completely satisfied. I got a mango matcha and my wife got a matcha two, and both drinks were excellent. This was easily the best matcha I've had in OC, with both drinks not being too sweet and the matcha tasting great. My only regret is not coming here sooner, because this place really lives up to the hype. I can't wait to try their coffee next, and will definitely be back for their matcha soon too. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place, recently opened but not so hush. There was a line with a queue of 7-8 people in the morning. They do not have a large space inside for people to wait so we end up forming a line outside. The cashier was friendly and welcoming to all customers. They have a large menu with so many styles -- if you like a coffee flavor, they can pretty much make that in a matcha version. I've been searching far and wide for the best banana matcha lattes, this is so far the best. When you finally step inside, you can see they have 2-3 staff whisking matcha. Their arms are getting a serious workout because I saw 10 + bowls already pre-whisked. The matcha tasted amazing and I was able to get a rich and creamy banana flavor with each sip. They added a nice crunch with crushed banana chips. My wife ordered the pumpkin pie coffee to be festive for fall. It was delicious and reminded us of a nice fall day. Overall, we really enjoyed the 2 drinks we selected. I would come back as often as I can if I lived in the area. The service was quick since they are staffed well to knock out so many drinks! read more
This is the place for real matcha lovers or anyone getting into matcha! The matcha two was the perfect double matcha latte -- slightly nutty, perfectly earthy, and not too sweet. It's all hand whisked as well, which increases my respect for the team here. This place is a to-go type of cafe. There's one little bench for waiting, but you can't do work or hang out. The service is really friendly and the girl who helped us out was very sweet. I would recommend anyone who visits to be patient! A lovely popular place! The matcha is very simple with fresh flavors mixed in. I would say if you're craving something not too sweet, something simple, and something fresh, this is the place for you! There's not really seating, so expect to head elsewhere with your drink after you get it, but the staff are very kind and quick to help you out! Parking is plentiful! Would recommend! read more
The staff and owners here are all so nice! I've been twice so far and both great experiences! The store is quite small so you do have to wait outside for the most part. You get called in to order. I personally prefer the matcha 1 over matcha 2 as a daily drink because I think the foam makes it a little heavier so it's like a nice once in a while drink for me. Their mango matcha has really good and natural tasting flavors. Their Saigon coffee is also a heavier drink in my opinion, but the drink itself is very well balanced and hits the spot!! read more

The matcha here is GOOD! I tried the banana matcha and the matcha itself wasn't too sweet and paired so nicely with the banana cream top. The only thing I wish was different was having a larger hole in the lid to be able to sip the drink through the lid instead of using a straw. Parking is easy but the actual store is very small. You line up outside the store and only enter when it's your turn to order. They bring the drinks outside to you when they are ready. Overall, a solid matcha spot that I would definitely come back to! read more

The line looks long but honestly was only 15-20 minutes when the line was 2.5 stores away from the cafe. Plenty of parking but it's pretty active with people coming and going. Staff was very nice and it's takeout only. No indoor or outdoor seating. Matcha Three: pretty strong and tasty. Smooth and more legit than other places like Vivot where they make you sign a waiver. Coconut Pandan Green Rice: an interesting slushie with rice bits. Definitely tastes like Vietnamese chè. Saigon Black and Spanish Phin: my brother and roommate really enjoyed this. This is a cute little coffee shop! It is brand new and clean. The owners are so sweet and at the business managing the cafe. The baristas were all sweet and friendly. I wanted to get their matcha but when I asked to see if the matcha is organic or not, I didn't get a straight answer so I settled for a bluebbery coffee (half sweet) instead and it was delicious!!!! When I am in the area, I will for sure stop by to try their other coffee options! read more
I came on a weekday and there was no line. It is more of a order to go place, no tables inside. I ordered matcha one (matcha latte) and matcha two (double matcha). I like how they use oat milk for the drinks. The matcha flavor was strong and smooth. The employees were nice and service was quick. They call your name and bring your drink out once it is ready. Visit & Line: I tried to stop by Ayer Coffee around 1pm, but it was super busy & the line was out the door! I came back Saturday around 9:30am and was the only one waiting in line outside. The shop is small, and the line is managed outside to keep the indoor space from getting too crowded. When it's your turn, the barista calls you in, you place your order & then head to the cashier to pay. Ordering Process: The ordering process seems to work well; thought it would be even better if the barista could give you something to show the cashier so you don't have to repeat your order. The line moves fast but i can get long quickly during peak times. Drinks & Food: I ordered the Coconut Iced Blended Coffee--- they blend the coconut first and then pour the coffee on top. Give it a good mix--- it's super flavorful and delicious. I also tried the salt bread, which was fresh, baked perfectly, and yummy too! Parking & Convenience: There is a large parking lot, so parking wasn't an issue, making the spot very convenient. Stopped by here this past weekend and it was surprisingly very busy for a stop-and-go coffee shop (no indoor seating). Ordered the matcha 2 and the coconut coffee blended (I think my husband meant to order the iced) and both drinks were very unimpressive. The matcha 2 had the opposite problem of most other matchas - this one had way too much matcha, leading to a bitter and unbalanced drink. I added another half cup of water and it was a little better then. I also could not fall asleep that night and had the most restless sleep (even if I finished my drink in the AM). The blended coconut was also imbalanced in that it was WAY too sweet! I also don't think coconut water and coffee mix? We couldn't even finish this one, which was unfortunate since it was $7 for this drink alone. If we're in the area, we'll definitely be checking out other coffee shops for a less expensive and more delicious drink. read more
