This is our go to for ordering Thai for take out. They are always very fast, which is nice. You just have to make sure you are really specific when asking to omit or add any extras to your order. Consistency!! Since the whole COVID thing started, we have ordered from here five times and each time has been as good as the last!! That should tell you something. Giving them a two star review even though I enjoy their food (food is very descent!), every time I come here my experience is ruined by a waitress that has really poor manners inc screams at customer, gives short answers, shows discontent when a request is made, is visibly annoyed when clients make changes to their order, has a very poor of way of handling orders (puts orders on the table and doesn't even acknowledge your presence) and last but not least management doesn't seem to do anything despite them witnessing her behavior and getting complaints from customers. I have never personally had a negative encounter with her but I have seen other customers talk to her about her lack of manners from which she reacts with another negative behavior (ignores them or turns around and leaves the customer with out acknowledging the feedback). read more

The person came out of the restaurant asked my name, dropped the order on the table outside without saying thank you or anything. This place was cool... until they messed up my orders 3 times and on the third I was left on hold on the phone but I could hear everything they were saying the lady said I kept complaining about this and that and all kinds of things that werent true. I feel that if youre paying money for a service and that service wasnt like the description then you have a right to speak up about it. Not good. We ordered pad Thai with shrimp and cashew chicken. The pad thai was boring and bland. The cashew chicken was flavorless and extremely spicy, even for medium. I like spicy food but I felt like it burned at my stomach without really good flavor to justify it. Super disappointing and I won't order there again. Food is really good but the customer service really sucks. The lady is so rude. Never smiles. We just spent 35$ and all we asked was if there was some soy sauce and silverware in the bag. On the plus side, it's within walking distance from our house, they have all the thai standbys, service was friendly, and the prices are very affordable (less than $10 for shareable entrees). On the minus side, the rice and noodle dishes we had were both kinda bland....except for the pad thai which was majorly sweet. My 100th review!! So please vote for me! The kid and I came here for the Unofficial Yelp event titled Thai Spice, Oh So Nice! I'm nuts about Pad Thai, but I haven't tried other Thai dishes. I'm always kinda scared they wont be good. I jumped at this chance to sample a bunch of different dishes. We got there early and bought a Sprite & Iced Thai Tea & Sprite ($4.90). They have fountain drinks and I would suggest getting one if the food is spicy. All the Yelpers at the event were great, but we got lucky enough to be seated with Danny, Fia, Ted & Jackie. They were awesome and we had a great time discussing food, travel & pop culture. As usual I digress, you probably want to hear about the food at Aura. In case you want to try them, I'll list the number & its description on menu. My opinion follows in parentheses #3 Fried Wontons (10) $5.95- Golden sweet crispy wontons filled with mild curry seasoned pureed potatoes. (maybe because they served first, but I really liked these. They reminded me of samosas, but with a sweet/spicy Thai dipping sauce) #16 Som Tum - Papaya Salad-$7.95- Famous Thai salad! Shredded green papaya, garlic, chili, dry shrimp, green bean, tomatoes, carrot and roasted peanuts mixed in tangy sweet sauce (light and refreshing without being too salady. I don't know if I would just get this alone, but definitely if with a party) #19 Chicken Larb $7.95= Ground chicken mixed with shallot, cilantro, green onion and roasted rice in spice lime sauce with mixed green. (This was only medium heat, but DAYUM I must have bit right into a chili or something. This was really good. It made me think of lettuce wraps, but without the lettuce. I didn't think of it then, but they probably would give you lettuce if you asked) #44 Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork $7.95- Chinese broccoli stir fried with crispy pork. When I tasted this, I was hurled back to the 70's in Chicago. Snowy days when my dad used to bring home take out from a hole-in-the-wall Cantonese place near our house. Since Pad Thai is my favorite, I'd have to get this again) #28 Aura Curry $ 9.95-Aura Thai duck curry infused with sweet n tangy taste of pineapple and the aroma of Thai basil served with tomato and bell pepper (This came in a bowl, so at first glance I thought it was soup. Its got a wonderful creaminess to it without being heavy at all. I thought it had noodles, but it was some kind of vegetable sliced into strips. Maybe bamboo shoots? I forgot to ask what the vegetable was. I thought it was very good though. We had it made with chicken instead of duck) #30 Yum Yum Noodle $6.95-Clear broth, street vendor style tom yum. Served with rice noodle, pork ball, fish cake, ground pork, ruby red pork, dry shrimp, green bean, bean sprouts top with roasted peanut. (This was the last entree served to us. I saw people at the table start to get excited. Fia said "oh man! I wish this had came first!" She is such a little gal, but she was able to find a way to finish that soup! I thought it was good, but would not want more than just a small cup. I got a piece of liver which I thought was beef. I don't like the taste of liver, but the soup doesn't taste like liver. I just thought I would mention to warn whoever might get the soup.) For dessert we were served Aura Parfait. Deep fried eggroll/lumpia filled with banana, sweet rice base topped with ice cream, drizzled with syrups (chocolate/strawberry) Very pretty, and tasty! Get this to split if you're on a date. Its not on the menu. They are working on a small tabletop dessert/drink menu. We got a chance to talk to our host Chris after the dinner. They've only been open less than a month. Chicken Pad Thai - I'm usually not a fan of pad thai because places make them too sweet but this place was actually really good on the sweetness. It was not too sweet for my liking. How to loose a good customer for $6.95! As a small business owner myself, this review saddens me to write. But the experience was so bad that maybe by writing it, the owners will fix the issues. I eat here 3 to 7 times a month. Or should say in the past, before today. At 4:32 pm I went inside to ask for a menu, and asked if they were serving customers outside today? The woman said yes. I waited for what I thought at the time was 15 minutes, but later learned was over an half hour. At 5:06pm after waiting at an outside table and no one coming to even bring me a glass of water, I walked back inside with the menu I had been previously given and asked again, are you not serving outside? The man shrugged his shoulders not commenting and went back reading his magazine. The restaurant was empty besides me. I found a table inside and shrugged off the bad manners. The food here is excellent, by the way. The waitress came (the same woman who had given me a menu at 4:32 pm) she said she was sorry and placed a glass of water in front of me. I ordered eggrolls and the Eggplant with no meat with brown rice. She said you just want vegetables. Yes, I replied. I pointed at the menu option, the eggplant with no meat. I have ordered that before several times without any issues. About 10 minutes later, she places a dish in front of me. Its a bunch of mixed vegetables with maybe two chunks of eggplant. I said this is not what I ordered. The waitress then starts to argue with me. I asked for a menu. I pointed to the woman the selection for eggplant which did not list: Carrots, cabbage, mushrooms (which I am allergic to, though I did not add) and other vegetables. She said but you said just vegetables. Yes just eggplant no meat. She shrugged her shoulders and said you will have to pay for it anyway. This is when I got really angry. *You ignored me after giving me a menu. *You got a very simple order wrong. *You are now arguing with me and demanding I pay for something YOU DID WRONG... really????? I said I would pay for it but I was not going to eat it. I cant take it home. You would kill me! I am allergic to a few of the items on that plate because YOU DID NOT MAKE THE DISH I REQUESTED! Instead you made me something you already had available. Then my eggrolls are now ready. So I agree to take my eggrolls home. There are so many other places to eat aka Bella Pizza across from your front door! So was it spite... that your waitress licks her fingers and then picks up my eggrolls with same and place them in a box AFTER I PAID FOR THEM? Disgusting! I left them there and walked out. This is one of those tucked away spots that have letters as an address instead of numbers. Is that a bad thing? By no means, I sort of love those places that are just off to the side as they provide some of the better food and have to try just that extra bit harder to keep you coming back. The only downside is that you have to keep your eyes a little more pealed when driving by this spot as you'll not only miss the address if you're going too fast, but you'll also get confused by the Hawaiian BBQ sign on the outside of what is an amazingly delicious Thai spot. I heard that it's due to the sign being so expensive to replace. So hey, there's that. But if you're feeling like some good Thai and don't mind stopping by a Hawaiian BBQ former spot to get some, this is it. Prices are pretty comparable to average Thai lunch spots and the service is spot on for the small space that you are in. Their fried wontons are great. Definitely NOT a good job in the updating of interior design... I saw a lot of bleeding in the gold, the golden faux application on the chairs were done in poor and indecisive taste, I could TOTALLY see through parts of the red paint (meaning no primer/cheap paint) on the wall, and the ceiling had leftover red paint on it in the areas that the painters effed up and didn't go back and clean up their work. Lets not forget, the wall space above the counter was a SORE old red that totally did NOT match the deep, vibrant red that was freshly painted on the rest of the restaurant. Ugh, can I PLEASE come in and repaint all this CORRECTLY for you guys?!?! For reals! I was horrified at the low quality of work. Yuck! Now, let me get this straight, theres a ton of waiters/waitresses, a ton of people in here for lunch, and possibly NO cooks in the back... I kid you not, 40 minutes, thats right, FORTY FREAKIN MINUTES after my mom and I order, we get our APPETIZER.... Which would be fine if OTHER people around us were getting their dishes, but I swear, NO ONE that sat around us was getting ANYTHING, not even water... geezus, how many waiters and waitresses are working here right now, again?!?! Continuing on... What. The. Hell. Man! 40 mintues down and you only brought me a freakin appetizer out? What about our lunches? After waiting another 20 minutes, I was fed up. At work, we have lunch at many different ethnic restaurants, but Aura Thai is a favorite among everyone. I'm not sure whether it's the heat of Thai food, the low cost of the lunch meals, 10% Yelp deal for cash, or just plain great Asian soul food as good as it gets. I always get the yellow curry and just plain dump the whole stew onto my dish with rice and mix thoroughly. There is just the right amount of heat with the yellow curry without causing havoc within my intestines. Others in our work group are just the opposite, and love the hot spicy Thai food and add hot sauce for good measure. Anyway you eat it, Aura Thai meets the goal of quick bites at a decent price. We only get half an hour to eat, so we make every minute count by eating here, including travel time. I know of no other place nearby where we can have a full meal and get back in time to break the books open, and start work again. Atlantic Boulevard in Long Beach has a treasure trove of restaurants to choose from, but Aura wins hands down for its speed and service, with a spicy smile! read more

Seems like I always spot the good eats when I'm out for a run! The other morning, Hubs and I noticed a new sign over the old Hawaiian BBQ place. We LOVE thai food and good thai is kinda hard to find. We have a few good spots but they're not close by. I was making curry tonight and got sidetracked helping with after school homework and burned that mess. Crazy right? It's not that hard! Already in the mood for curry I alerted the fam that we'd be dining out tonight and Hubs was down when I said I wanted to try Aura Thai. The hostess was on the phone when we walked in, it looked like she was taking a phone order. She made eye contact immediately though and nodded when I motioned if we could seat ourselves. We ordered Chicken Satay to start, Peanut Sauce was way yummy! I got the Thai Curry (Yellow with Chicken), Hubs ordered Chicken Pad Thai. When offered spice he jumped on it and said he'd take it as hot as they could make it. I got Orange Chicken and Rice for the lillobugs to share. Their food came out last so they'd both enjoyed sampling, okay, grubbing down on, my curry. Everything was SO yum! I am by no means a Thai Food expert but I know good food, I know good flavor and I know good service. This place had all that! Our server was super attentive, our glasses were always filled. We of course had to save room for dessert so we didn't finish up our food. We asked for a box and our server took the plates and boxed everything up for us! I spotted the Aura Thai Parfait on the menu even before we sat down so we ordered that and asked if it was enough to share. We were rightfully assured that it was! Coconut sweet sticky rice (hot), Vanilla ice cream (cold), banana wontons (!) all drizzled beautifully with strawberry and chocolate sauce. I constantly take pictures of my food so that I can send it to my kindred spirit foodie sisters so I'll be sure to upload the visual yumminess asap! Hubs and I kept looking across the table at each other both thinking that we scored on finding this place. AND they deliver!! Within 3 miles :) Woot! Service was great, it was comfortable to dine in even with the two kiddos, I snagged a to go menu that has found a nice home on my fridge! read more
