I don't usually post reviews but the experience here was horrendous and I had to warn others. We were visiting on vacation and opted to come here as they had an open patio and was tagged as pet friendly and we had two puppers with us. The host guy who greeted us had informed us that due to rain earlier the outdoor patio was closed and if we wanted to eat there we would either have to order Togo or leave our dogs in the car!!!! Who does that?!? Never ever tell people to leave their pets in the car. What's wrong with you? I will never go back there. Please educate your servers or hostess to never instruct people to leave their pets in the car. We ended up at the reef and the hostess there was more than happy to clean an outdoor table for us so that we could dine with our pups. read more

We love coming here whenever we are in St. Augustine! It's right on the water and the view from the deck is so pretty! It's nice and cool because it's near the water and the service is really nice. They give you a complimentary bread basket with all different types of bread. My favorite was the pumpkin bread. I really like their fish tacos and I order that whenever I come. They were all out of sweet potato casserole when we were there so I got sweet potato fries and they were very delicious. I think they put like cinnamon or sugar on them because they had some sort of seasoning like that. The side of Mac and cheese is really good as well. Overall this place is really nice and always reminds me of having dinner with my family whenever we come to St. Augustine. Definitely would recommend if you are in the area. read more

I'd give it 5 stars if the crab cakes had not been so terrible. But let's focus on the awesomeness. Ate there twice and had great food each time. Seafood trio x2 and the mahi mahi fillets really were delicious. Shrimp and scallops pretty good. Crab cake x2 attempts ahhhhhh. Filler filler filler. This place does too good a job to serve mediocre crab cakes. I get it. It nots guru thing. So don't try anymore. Just out something else on the menu rather than taint your reviews. Green fried tomatoes were solid. Homemade little breads, nice touch and delicious. Now for the surprise. Fresh red snapper while fish fried. Wow never had it and it was amazing. Service was awesome. Ok spot for seafood, not amazing but not terrible. I had the the award winning fish soft tacos, blackened and with fries. I did not expect my fries to be potato wedges and they were quite soggy and not crisp to my liking. My tacos were ok, the blackened seasoning was decent but the Southwest sauce that came with them was bland. My boyfriend has the scallops, blackened with potato salad and collard greens. I tried one of his scallops and it was soft, not over cooked but it was not seared or grilled at all to give it more texture. It tasted like a mushy scallop that was tossed in seasoning and served. The scenery of this place is nice, it's right on the water. Other than that, the meal wasn't really memorable. read more

After a great inshore fishing trip with Misstress fishing charters we were guided to Aunt Kate's as being a great place that would cook our catch. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in the door. We opted to sit outdoors and enjoy the warm weather with water view. Our server was quick to take our drink and food order and bring us a nice basket of fresh bread to snack on. The three bread options was a spicy corn bread that was tender and not too spicy, a pumpkin bread that was moist and yummy and a Jack bread that was sweet and delicious. Our catch was cooked to our liking and we chose blackened and deep fried. The cost to cook our catch was 14.99 a person that included a drink, two sides and the cooking of our fresh fish. The breading on the fried fish was perfectly cooked and the blackened fish was cooked perfectly as well. The home made lemonade hit the spot and key lime pie dessert was a tasty delight. The menu was full of great choices and the service was great. I don't think you can go wrong with Aunt Kate's. read more

A nice restaurant on the Bay. Friendly service and good food. A little pricey, but comparable to other restaurants in the area. The bread basket was a nice change of pace. It included cornbread, rolls, pumpkin, and banana bread if I remember correctly. We also took advantage of the little fishing pier outside of the restaurant. This is a wonderful restaurant that is tucked away in Saint Augustine near the river. It is a cute little mom and pop, local eatery. It has some unique food, but mostly American type of food. I had the shrimp basket and it was delicious. Others in my group had the chicken tenders basket. The fish bites basket and we shared coconut, shrimp, and fried mushrooms as appetizers. The staff was super awesome and helpful. It has beautiful views from the pier and you can eat inside or out. Definitely a place we will be eating at frequently when we stop to visit in Saint Augustine. read more

This spot was just ok to me. It's a cute spot right on the water sitting on the back dock was great really beautiful especially with the sun setting. They were very busy, an hour wait at 4:30 on a Saturday. Now to the food, we tried a few apps which were pretty good, I did like the gator bites, tasted great, crunchy with a orange sauce, thumbs up! The crab cakes were ok, fried green tomatoes ok. My entree is where it started going down hill, I got the grilled platter with mahi, shrimp, scallops and a crabcake it was supposed to come with 2 sides which I never got ( server never brought and I forgot to ask till it was time to go) it was soooo dry! The poor fish needed some kinda sauce badly, a buttery sauce would have helped, everything was hardly seasoned and just bland, it was an instant regret I ordered this :( Then my friend got the fried fish bites which said they were tilapia and she told me to try it, one bite and I couldn't even get it down!! We stopped in during Memorial Day for a late dinner. We arrived at about 7:33pm and they said they closed at 8:00pm. Yeah... We might be one of those people but to be fair it did state they were open until 9:00pm, on oops, Google. We tried to call several times earlier in the day when we were on the boat but there was no answer. Anyways... We were seated very quickly indoor since the patio had a 15 minute wait. Our server, can't remember her name was very attentive and quick. Our food was good although I feel like the portion for the $29.99 seafood platter was sort of skimpy. It came with four pieces of probably previously frozen shrimp, a few scallops, one tilapia and one crab cake plus two sides. Our son has the fish bites and it came out looking similar to fish sticks, but it was decent. The Calamari was light but a tad bit flavorless. We might give this place another shot the next time we launch the boat out at the nearby boat ramp. Our friends ordered the steak and it looked pretty good. Drinks were super strong! read more

The Mahi Sandwich immaculate. I very rarely go to seafood restaurants but today when you get a chance to go to a place like Aunt Kate's, it's hard to pass up. I ordered the grilled Mahi and I think that might be the best way to order it. It was grilled and seasoned perfectly and the lettuce, tomato, and pickle complemented the sandwich very well. The fires were also crispy and seasoned to perfection. The only knock on this place was it took a while for the food to come out but I won't hold that against them too much. I was with a very large party so that probably isn't the case for smaller parties. Also ordered the fried calamari and that was a perfect appetizer. Very tender and the sauce that came with it was great as well. Oh and how could I forget the bread that came with our meal. Very unique but the pumpkin bread was easily my favorite. You never see pumpkin bread served at a restaurant. Definitely come here if you are in St. Augustine. read more

Not only was it hard to look at but it tasted like S$G out of a can, Gooey, little flavor, and very heavy. the plus was the 7 shrimp in the plate were fresh and good (by themselves) My wife had mahi / reuben. Fish wasn't fresh at all and the bread was soaked in butter. We both had a beer. With a $12 tip the bill came to $70. Wasn't happy and would not recommend. read more

Aunt Kate's was recommended to us by a trolley driver (Philly Jim). We LOVED it! Andrew was our server and although he wore a Gators hate he was amazing!! Really enjoyed our lunch at this seafood joint right on the water! I had the blackened grouper sandwich which was cooked nicely and had a good level of spice and a tasty tartar sauce on the side. I ordered a side of fries and a spiked lemonade drink, I think it was Dave's lemonade? My husband had the blackened grouper tacos which he said were solid and a nice sized lunch dish, he also had fries on the side. We also ordered the smoked fish dip as an appetizer. The waitress was friendly and attentive, bathrooms were clean, food arrived quickly and as ordered & we left stuffed! Would definitely go back next time we are in the area. Enjoy! read more

Outstanding butterflied coconut shrimp and she crab soup made the day! The soft shell crab sandwich was likely excellent as well; but I just couldnt 'stomach' biting into ooie-gooie guts. I'm sure it would have been a delicacy for those 'so inclined', as it was nicely breaded and deep fried. I substituted the fries for creamy slaw and settled outdoors on another sunny day, tho mid-50s. The ambiance of being right on the water, under moss-draped trees , with 'talking' birds and friendly squirrel would be difficult to beat. We got there and they said 1 1.2 hour wait so we sat at the bar which no one mentioned... atmosphere ok, outside was pretty but you can't sit unless your eating there. Greg the waiter in the bar was great!!! We ordered calamari and crab cakes to start... the calamari was awful. We enjoyed our crab cakes but they were overcooked and didn't have Raumulade.... Went in today for dinner with my family and service dog and who I have documentation for and can answer the appropriate questions when asked. The hostess told us we can't have pets and then proceeded to get an attitude when I said she is a service dog. She actually said "no, it's not" to her co-worker. I've been in hundreds of restaurants and public places with my dog. Never have I gotten this response. We went to Conchhouse who also has the same rule. They professionally pulled me aside and asked the necessary questions and allowed us to get in line for seating. read more

Been to this restaurant a few times before. Decided to go here last week with My Wife and step Daughter for lunch. It was a good day as well. Last time We went here was in 2019. My step Daughter decided to have the seared tuna and fries. She said that it was very good. My Wife decided to have the shrimp and grits. She said that it was very good. I decided to have the crab cakes and two sides. The crab cakes were very good. The two sides I decided to have was collard greens, which were a little bland and not much bacon in it as well. The second side eas the cheese grits, which were very good. We decided to have gator bites as an appetizer. We didn't like the sweet sauce that it came with. I think it should be served with cocktail sauce instead, which I think it pairs well. But, that's My opinion. The bread samples are very good, and so is the butter they serve with. Popped in to Aunt Kate's on a Sunday evening. We got in right before the wave hit. Our server was Becca and she was very personable. We ate inside even though there's great views of the ICW outside. I enjoyed looking at the old fishing photos on the wall. We ordered gator tail as an appetizer. Our entrees were blackened Mahi tacos, blackened scallops, and I forgot the third. The food was enjoyable but I usually expect blackened anything to have a bite to it and these didn't. Guess they didn't want to torch the mouths of folks that prefer less spicy food. My daughter did pick up a bottle of Datil sauce and that livened things up. All in all, it was a nice visit. Saw a sign for Aunt Kate's while driving around today. We are on vacation in St Augustine. As we could not find parking in the historic area, we decided to look it up & give it a try. So glad we did!! Our server Megan was fantastic. A very pretty young woman with a huge smile & so friendly & knowledgeable. She helped guide us to such great choices. I had the Cajun shrimp pasta & my husband a seafood platter. We both got salads with the house citrus vinaigrette. Megan assured us we would enjoy the dressing & she was right. Once the plates were cleared she tempted us with desserts. The key lime pie did not disappoint. You can tell it was made in house & was hands down the best key lime I've ever had. I visited for lunch on May11th and had Kate as my server. It was a terrible experience. The bread basket had various shapes of breads, but they all tasted the same. I asked what the specials were and she said normally $3 more than the regular. My sister asked what the regulars were. Very weird. I ordered the She Krab soup, but I'm positive she brought me the corn potato as that was the special and I could not find any krab. My sister ordered fried oysters, she said they seemed like they were all cut in half and fried, very disappointed. When she brought our checks she picked up our bread basket and instead of taking it back to the kitchen, continued on her way to deliver it to another couple sitting at another table??? Taking the boat out in St. Augustine for some intercostal fishing and saw this hidden gem while cruising on the water. The place is retro-fitted, with easy access from a boats perspective which was pleasant. The food was nothing to brag about, and frankly it was about average the nice view made up for it all. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the food, however they had numerous seafood options which I was happy about. The prices were slightly higher than that of better seafood counterparts that I would assume offer fresher deals, but if you're in the area it's worth stopping by for! read more

We've been to Aunt Kate's twice now and have loved it both times. The wait staff is always friendly and very accommodating. The bread basket is a great start to your meal. Beer was good, service and food not so much. Shrimp basket with fries and hush puppy, fish bites with fries and hush puppy, and fish dip appetizer. Fries on both entrees were gross and barely warm, hush puppy was bland as was the fish bites. Shrimp was chewy, overcooked. Many of the fish bites were so thin on one end it was like chewing just skin, but I don't think there was skin, idk. Over half the food remained on the plates and the waitress neither asked what was wrong nor offered take out containers. When the waitress dropped the check, but didn't return for a while, my wife took the matter to the manager who cut the price of entrees in half. Slow to serve (initial greeting, response to requests and left with the check) and sub-par food will cause us to not return. read more
