Was looking forward to trying AK with my 2 friends as I've heard good things, so we went today for a mid-afternoon lunch, but never again. It was not busy at all, so there's no excuse for this bad food and service. Soup of the day was so salty neither of us could eat it, so my friend got a bowl and I a cup of the crab chowder instead, which was clearly the bottom of the pot. It was like paste; lukewarm at best, I got a mouthful of flour (?) and had to spit out, it was all potatoes and triple-thick goo and NO CRAB or crab flavor to be found. Was gross. My other friend ordered the blackened fish tacos which were also SO SALTY she could only eat a portion of it. The chef should taste what he's serving!! We all love salt- but that was terribly over-salted food and inedible. Interestingly enough, her side of potato wedges were good but not salted at all! Lol. Then there's the service. Our server was less than warm/friendly from the moment we sat down. I asked for my flounder sandwich bread to be toasted with Mayo or tarter sauce on it, but it wasn't toasted and no Mayo or tarter - I had to ask for it after it was delivered to the table. Sandwich was okay but not great, and the side of collard greens was the best part of my $28 meal. She was unapologetic about the food and before we were done eating the things we could eat, she plopped the checks down on the table without any comment or apology. We were considering dessert so I thought that was rude, especially after the unsatisfactory meals we had and had told her "helper" about it. (She didn't ask how our meals were but sent another server over to check on us. We politely told him our woes...). We paid and left. Anyway, I don't recommend this restaurant for a nice meal. Went here for the first time visiting Saint Augustine. We had to wait because it was busy not 30 minutes a little less than that. It took them a while to bring us our drink order and because we knew what we wanted to eat we gave that to them as well. I can only say that the bread they brought was the best everything else was pretty much mediocre . The sandwich I got was soggy bread with How much coleslaw. My dining guest had shrimp and grits that wasn't appealing to the eye. The sweet tea was good and our waiter was just ok he tried really hard. There was a 45 minute wait for seating, which was bearable since you can go and sit by the intercostal waterway and enjoy the vibe. After ordering our Ancient City IPA draft our server arrived with a basket of lemon poppyseed & pumpkin bread cubes with honey butter. We tried a cup of the Minocran and a bowl of She Crab chowders, after that I went with the Ahi Tuna appetizer. The Low Country Boil was good, as well as the Pulled Pork Sandwich. My wife and I went to this restaurant for a late lunch on February 6, 2020 (our first time here) and we had a good experience. The restaurant wasn't busy so we were seated right away on the enclosed deck. For starters I had a Stella draft and my wife had a glass of wine. I also throughly enjoyed a cup of the She Crab Soup which was delicious . For entrees my wife had the Trio Salad which she enjoyed, but felt it had a little too much mayonnaise for her liking. I enjoyed a Crabmeat Pita with fries and walked away completely satisfied. Our server was Carrie M. And she took great care of us from beginning to end. Aunt Kate's was a contingency move because the wait at Cap's was 90 minutes and the line just to park was blocks long. After a 40 minute wait we were all hungry. I ordered the "peel & eat" shrimp appetizer, my wife had the crab cake sandwich and my son had the Mahi Ruben. The shrimp were over cooked and difficult to peel. My black beans & rice side was pretty tasty. My wife's crab cake was so so and her side of greens was pretty bitter. My son only ate half of his Ruben. Service was friendly and somewhat attentive. With plenty of choices in the area for seafood probably wouldn't come back. read more

The place is great for a beautiful sunset dinner. It's summer so dress cool in light clothing because if they had fans to circulate they weren't working. The service was good. I think the kitchen was a bit backed up, but food still fresh when it came out. The music on the deck was a great touch: a bit dull for our taste, but wasn't looking for a rock band either. I don't understand the negative reviews of this place. Came here with my wife and I must say it was absolutely delicious! The place is right on the bay with a beautiful porch. We both had shrimp fried and peel and eat and it was some of the best shrimp I've had in a long time. Service is good. Food took a little bit but it was absolutely worth the wait. Drinks were great as well! Would absolutely recommend for a relaxing afternoon lunch. read more

We were thanked profusely for telling the truth when asked if our dog was a service animal (I'm on oxygen, so it would be easy to lie like other folks with non trained service dogs do. Ours is a pet. We eat outside, and we train him to lie still at our feet and not bother other people) It was late lunch time, so we ordered apps and salads. Served quickly along with our chilled drinks, and water for the pup. We sat at a shaded picnic table by the water. Lovely view and nice breeze. Not crowded, but regular coming and going of land and water customers. I had coconut shrimp and kate's salad. Never had an over cooked shrimp in Florida. These were great. The salad had far more pecan raisin and feta topping than I'd imagined. Fresh, crisp, beautifully put together with no worn greens. Refreshing on a 93degree day. Husband had the house salad, similarly fresh and crisp. Also ordered the alligator bites. I've never had them so tender, and crisp. Delightful, and tasted *better* than chicken bites... pleasant servers, pleasant chatty patrons, quiet beautiful view.... Lovely for lunch. I expect it gets jumping at night, which is a whole different vibe, but it was perfect for what we wanted when we were there. Highly recommended. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in St Augustine. It may not be on the beach, but is on the inter coastal.waterway. A wonderful hole in the wall with a really nice back patio that has a great sunset view in the evening, or anytime during the day. Always clean and staff is very friendly. Menu has something for everyone. Full bar. Fans located on the inner part of the patio, and sun shades on the outer. Tables outside are picnic tables, having had two back surgeries not my favorite, but worth it. The food and drinks are great. Everything from soup or salad. Sandwiches to full entries. This truly again a hole in the wall and with out gps you might miss it. Just turn down the street at the intersection in front of the Reef Restaurant. Enjoy! I'll be back. read more

Yesterday we had a great lunch at Aunt Kate's. The weather was pleasant which made eating outside by the river even more special. The atmosphere is very casual dining by the water. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable of the entire menu. We took her recommendations for both our meals. My wife had blackened shrimp which were very good. They were accompanied by collard greens and red roasted potatoes. I had fish tacos with a slice of avocado accompanied by a sweet potato casserole. Both meals were very good even the bread basket was tastey. Aunt Kate's was not busy being a Monday afternoon in the winter. That was great for us because there were plenty of tables by the water. You can imagine how crowded the restaurant would be in warmer weather or on a weekend. No frills just a good view with a down home feel. read more

Tonight, tried calling in a to go order more than an -hour and a half- ahead of closing time. Over the phone I could easily hear tons of background chatter, so we know very well the place was busy. And yet again we were turned away. There won't be a third try. There's simply no excuse for this. A real shame since there are so few restaurants on this side of the bridge. read more

So this place comes very highly recommended by the captain of our little cruise. A long drive from St Augustine but we don't mind going for good food. We understand shortage of staff and having to wait as well. Anyways, we get to Aunt Kate and we had to wait 45 minutes to be able to get a table. Our buzzer rings, we get seated and we wait, and wait, and wait. Not a single hello, I'll be with you in a second, NOTHING for 22 minutes. I'm ready to leave but husband is hungry. The 2 choices we picked out, they were out of, And they were the special of the day. Yay for me. We ordered the gator tail, the few pieces I picked were undercooked and the sauce was way too sweet for me. We also ordered the conch fritters. Those were pretty decent. A tad undercooked in the center but since this was going to be my dinner it would have to do. My husband ordered the fried whole flounder. He liked it a lot. So, hopefully y'all would have a better experience. I would definitely not be coming back. This was a waste of my time and money. Once our waiter showed up he was very kind and friendly. By then I was over it. I complained about the appetizers and he discounted them. We came to Aunt Kate's over going to Caps since hadn't been here before. As we walked up with my 82 year old uncle with a walker, I told them we wanted outside as it is my birthday. My husband then asked about seating while we waited for outside seating because of my uncle. When our pager went off, they wanted to put us at picnic benches - how inappropriate for someone using a walker. I said absolutely no - we'd wait for a table with chairs. The girl was kinda rude about putting us back on the list. We had gotten drinks from the bar and the bartender was friendly and attentive. Once we got our table. Our waiter Cameron was either very inexperienced or rushed. We ordered appetizer. Then once that came, he was anxious to take our order. We ordered our food which three of four meals included salad. Both salad and the meals came out. 3 of the 4 meals were Luke warm and the other was way over cooked. When I mentioned my food overcooked, Cameron didn't offer any solution. He did replace the overcooked gator tail. Then he started rushing my 82 year old to finish his food. Disappointed is an understatement. drove an hour to get my aunt so we could try minorcan food as i had recently found out that my great great grandmother was a masters. then drove an hour and fifteen minutes here to be extremely disappointed. a white washed menu the only cultural things clearly offered was the minorcan clam chowder which was pretty decent i really enjoyed it. it was a bit on the spicy side but not too overpowering very flavorful. i was also impressed with the pumpkin spice cornbread although the other two were not as impressive. when it came to our main meals we were very disappointed. my aunt ordered aunt kate's seafood platter which was shockingly bland and lacking flavor. she ordered it fried and there was no salt that her i or my uncle once we got home could taste. really disappointing for being an 35$ entree. i got the chicken entree is was okay i thought it would be better the cheese was slightly overpowering. it had bbq sauce bacon fresh tomato with cheese melted on top. i feel like the only thing you're really paying for at this place is the view because boy it was beautiful outside seating. they could have more fans though for this florida heat but it was bearable after taking a quick trip to the bathroom. Maybe i ordered the wrong things on the menu but for being so far and reading the websites story i had higher expectations for some ethnic options. read more

This was not the first time we were ignored when we tried to dine here, the 1st time we walked out. This time, my husband confronted the manager about it.
