This place has a very nice homey vibe and old Italian feel. The smell when you first go in was amzing! The daughter of the place is so sweet! Unfortunately the food does not match the environment.., the food does not taste like any of the Italian restaurants I ate in Italy. Not sure how they received such high ratings at this place. The food was just mediocre Italian. You can really tell by their bolognese which was very bland and did not have that rich depth of stewed meat sauce. Very disappointing meal overall. Appetizer: * Prosciutto, and melon- portion was a few slices of prosciutto over melons. I couldn't believe the lack of prosciutto and the portion size. They were nice enough to take it off the bill (I mean it was just melons n a tiny taste of prosciutto) . Dinner: * Bolognese meat sauce- the most underwhelming pasta I have even eaten. Lack of depth of richness. Tasted very "fresh" and no enough stewing to get that richness that it usually has. *Osso buco- when properly cooked, this dish can be so delicious, fall off the bone. This was too ugh and definitely not cooked slow and long. One of the most disappointing Osso buco. * don't remember the exact name, some sort of seafood pasta. Normally called Frutti Di Mare. Another unforgettable dish. I just remember we did not finished nor did we take it back to our hotel. Kind of left hungry and bill was not cheap. But their service was great! read more

Located in Seattle, this is a solid spot for an Italian meal. The ambiance is quite nice and makes this a very good spot for a date night with nicely presented Italian food, the dim lit lights and well painted walls really add to the feeling here. It's about a 10 min walk from pike place. If you are looking for an affordable Italian restaurant with a nice vibe, I would recommend. My party of three arrived here on a summer weekday around 6pm and were able to seated immediately. There was plenty of space for us to walk through. The menu is interestingly split between meats and pastas. As a fan of truffle and mushroom, I ordered the chicken breast. My friends ordered the gnocchi (which is vegetarian) and the lasagna. They do have a decent amount of vegetarian options here. I thought the chicken breast was quite solid. I just wish they had a menu option with only one chicken breast and some pasta instead of splitting the menu. My friend wasn't the biggest fan of his gnocchi although I personally thought it was quite solid. Would recommend as a ln affordable Italian date spot in downtown Seattle. read more

I came here for an anniversary date night, the space was nice with warm lighting and felt very authentic. The food was a solid 4/5, we tried 2 appetizers, the meatballs were a little dry but the sauce made up for it. We got the chicken parm and bolognese for our mains. The chicken parm was moist and cooked well, the bolognese is a classic and was good as well. Unfortunately I was not a fan of this restaurant, but it was the only Italian restaurant that had availability for 5 for dinner. The service was slow, and the restaurant was cramped in the back (where we were seated). The food was not good --the pizza was limp, dry, and it felt like I was eating cardboard, and the lasagna was just okay (but how can you really mess up lasagna) but the portion was tiny. A good Bolognese should be thick enough to cling to the pasta. It should be meat forward and very little tomato. It should not be watery. I ordered the Bolognese. It was the opposite of that. This place should be shut down and stripped of any affiliation with Italian dishes. Bartender had no idea what Cynar was. Had too heavy a hand with the vermouth. Cocktail menu was mediocre. 10/10. This, my friends, is what we call a no-notes dinner. I have absolutely no critiques or criticisms. It was probably one of the best meals of my life. A Top 10 for sure. The service was attentive and warm. After a long day, I didn't want to make one other decision, so I asked my server, Antonio, to decide on a pasta for me. He asked one question, and took the rest from there. What he brought back was a dreamy pasta dish with clams, shrimp, and salmon in a tomato cream sauce. I absolutely demolished the plate and was legitimately bereft after I took my last bite. The dessert was a limoncello tartufo, also chosen by Antonio. It was creamy, tart, and a perfect way to end the meal. The portions of both dishes were perfection, the quality was perfection, the balance of flavors were perfection, the entire meal was perfection. I will definitely be back. read more

4.5 Stars! We decided on Assaggio Ristorante for a Feb 2026 date night as it is one of the only Italian spots in Belltown we have yet to try. I didnt love the curb-appeal of this place from the street view, but once you walk in, it feels very cozy and warm, and i could even imagine some italian Nonnas rolling out pasta in the back. We started with drinks - the typical negroni for me and the girlfriend went with their Mauro option, which I believe is named after the original owner. My negroni was exactly what I was hoping for, but I honestly think the Mauro was better! Slight drink envy - no notes! Went we go to Itailan spots like this, we love getting an app or two, then splitting a pasta and pizza. We had to try their caprese salad as it is one of our favorites. They kept it simple which is always ideal with caprese - wide cut tomatos, single basil leaf on each, a touch of balsalmic/EVOO, and a thicccck slice of their buffalo mozzarella. The only issue i had was not enough balsamic - I love a heavy acid to cut through the EVOO and buffalo mozzarella. Their balsamic seemed to be reduced which is nice, but not enough 'bite' in my option. For mains, we split their Salsiccia Pizza and the Pappardelle. The pizza was great with one caveat - their marinara and sausage were super simple and super flavorful. My only issue was with the CRUST - not good at all, super soggy and did not hold up against gravity. For the Pappardelle, after mispronoucning this dish, i basically inhaled it. Wild boar for the protein and the pasta was clearly made in house. The kapers and kalamata olives really made this dish - brought out some brine-y brightness that balanced out the tomato based sauce perfectly. Our server was the epitomy of perfect - unobtrusive yet very aware when we needed something. I dont recall her name, but her photo is in other posts below! Cant wait to go back :) Side note, Mauro has a few cookbooks, which I believe has some receipes the restaurante uses - super cool! read more

Cute boutique style Italian restaurant in downtown Seattle. The restaurant is next to the Hotel Andra. It has a cute patio for dining as well as cozy indoor seating. The decor has a old school style with some interesting artwork that is a nod to Davinci. They do have weekly chef specials. I had the seafood chefs special pasta. It was linguine with clams and mussels, salmon and prawns. It had a lobster cream sauce on top of it. It was one of the best seafood pastas I have ever had in my life. The salmon basically melted in your mouth. I ate every last bite. The menu does offer signature cocktails, as well as wine. It was definitely our favorite meal in Seattle. read more

This is one of favorite spots for Italian lunch. We've been going for ages and I can't believe C we haven't v reviewed it before. :-) The place is so authentic. I feel like I'm back in Italy with the great pasta and the wines. This is a spot to savor and enjoy. We love the boar ragu. And it is great spot with nice outdoor dining for the summer and it's so cozy in the winter. It's a busy spot on 4th avenue so great if you are already in downtown or work nearby. We just ate here tonight. I had the pasta special that was a ricotta and butternut squash filling with a crispy sage addition... and my husband had the chicken special. I also had the Blood orange Cosmopolitan... a half size Francesca salad and the special Ricotta pistachio cake. This was, I think the best meal I have ever had. I savored every bite. The cosmopolitan was served beautifully in a cut crystal's coupe. Overall, the ambiance, friendliness, amazing food and special touches made for a memorable and relaxing dinner on a rare treat back to the city that used to live in and I have loved for decades. read more

The restaurant was small and compact with tables close together, although it was a nice ambiance. A nice Italian restaurant to try, especially for a nice occasion! I had their clam linguine and it was good, but not great. It was a bit too salty for me, and one of the clams tasted as if it wasn't cooked fresh... I had to spit out that clam. I had their penne vodka with added chicken and it was pretty good. Sauce was tasty and the pasta was cooked well. We also had their fried calamari appetizer which was pretty good! It was crispy, tasty, and fresh! The service definitely could've been better. Our server wasn't attentive and interactive. It took awhile for us to get served. When we got our dessert menu, the server placed the menu at our table without saying anything and left. The place can be pricey, so just a heads up on that. The ambiance is great. I really liked how it was organized and decorated. There was nice art on the walls and on the ceiling. Came here on a weeknight as part of our summer trip to Seattle. It's a really busy place so I would recommend reserving in advance. The first thing which I have to eat -is the basic - bread with olive oil and this place was spot on! The bread was warm and the olive oil dip was delicious with soft green olives and roasted garlic - are you drooling yet? We also got the bruschetta and then ordered a pepperoni pizza for the kids. They scarfed the whole thing down - and didn't leave the crust (like they usually do) My son's comment - this is the best pizza we've ever had! We had to let the owner know! :-) I ordered the pasta with Italian sausage, pine nuts, saffron creme and arugula - the portion size is quite large and I could only eat 1/4th of it...but boy was it good! My husband ordered the Penne with Vodka and it was really good. You can tell that this place is authentic. read more

The place has a nice traditional Italian atmosphere although seating is a bit tight. Service was fine, but nothing special. Tramonta cocktail is a little too tart after being described by waiter as a sweet cocktail. I'm a Carpaccio fan, but theirs has a few too many conflicting flavors for me. For my main I chose the Pica Carbonara because I Love carbonara. It was good, but a bit salty and needed quite a bit of extra Parmesan and pepper. read more

We came here for Valentine's Day and left underwhelmed. Service was very slow, and when our server finally came around, he made comments on our order, saying he didn't like the wine we chose. It was off-putting. We ordered the bread service, rigatoni, gemelli, and ended with tiramisu. My boyfriend really liked his rigatoni, but my gemelli was quite salty...so much so that I couldn't finish it. While the bread service was nothing to write home about, the tiramisu was delish. The atmosphere is authentic with appropriate mood lighting. Tables are placed close together, though, so get ready to make friends with the nearby tables. We had previously come here for drinks in 2019, so we're excited to try the dining experience out, but all in all, it wasn't worth it. read more
