I was here for a work party and loved the food. Upon exploring the website, we saw their Nonnakase option and decided to splurge on a reservation when we had family in town. BEST IDEA EVER. It was legitimately one of the best dinners I have ever had. There were 9 courses total, and everything the chef brought out was incredible. The service was wonderful and personal and attentive from the chef to the bartender to the wine director. So while I already would recommend this place to any serious fan of Italian cuisine, I cannot speak highly enough of the Nonnakase experience. Absolutely worth every penny. My wife loves this place because they make their noodles from scratch, or so they say. I was super stoked to try this place....again. And then I recalled why I didn't want to come back from the first experience. First, the location is unique, and I really appreciate that this business is trying to keep Georgetown alive with cool quirky places to eat. This def fits the bill. But, I couldn't help but notice the political statement taped to the front window, super classy. I dine out to escape my day. I don't need it thrown in my face at dinner. Next, when the menus were brought to us, it was for their 3 course restaurant week special. $50 per person, and there are two choices per course. My family all chose what we wanted and then waited for the meal. Like previous reviewers, the wine is brought out in oversized shot glasses not really, but might as well be). I get that in Italy, dinner wine (peasant fare) is served in cups, not stemware, but $18 for mediocre wine, I'd like to see a more appropriate pour. Lamb Polpettine was essentially lamb meatballs on a cold and very loose polenta with what was described as salsa diavola, but it was essentially a chunky red sauce. There was nothing about this that wowed us. In fact, it was pretty bland overall and underwhelming. But the manner in which you are greeted and served at the restaurant and the remainder of service, you would think it was going to change how you felt about food. I don't even want to go into the salad. Again, underwhelming. The mains came out and although tasty, the portions were very small compared to the price we paid. And if you opt for the truffle, it's finely grated and it covers the entire plate. Also, it's an extra $12......for less than $2 worth of black truffle. It absolutely ruined the dish. An educated server would be able to caution against it, if, of course it wasn't intended to raise the final price, essentially raising the tip. If you order risotto there, be fair warned, it is extremely loosed and not very well made imo. Bland, lacks imagination, and the rice grains were cracked and soggy on the ends and crunchy in the middle.. Last was the dessert. Again, it was tasty, but it comes in these tiny jars that equal about 2-3 spoonfuls of either panna cotta, or tiramisu. At the end of our meal, the bill was over $250. For that price, I could have eaten somewhere where I could have left a little more satisfied and felt like I was actually in an upscale restaurant, not a political statement masquerading as fine dining. Having worked food for a long time, I felt obligated to leave the customary 20% gratuity knowing full well the workers there made their "living wage" before the gratuity kicks in. It included an additional 2% to pay for employee health insurance. Isn't that an employer cost? Why put that on the check? Anyway, out the door for $300 and vowing never to come back. Mezzanotte has really great food. we tried the caesar salad, the house bread, and two pastas- the sage butter and the ragu. we also tried the hot honey carrots. We looked up bottle ratings and prices, i will say some of the wine on the menu was a little pricy. But everything we ordered was delicious and well seasoned, worth the price and the wait. they seemed to be having a party in their patio area which i think might've slowed service down a bit- our pasta took a while to come out. Absolutely incredible! I walked in around 6pm on a Friday and was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar, though I'd recommend making a reservation if you want to guarantee a spot. I went here for date night recently and it was so special. The patio on a nice day is magical. The waitstaff were super attentive and kind. Do let them know if you're celebrating something -- they were wonderful! We ordered two apps, two pasta dishes, and split the pork chop. The Royal focaccia was perfection -- that Italian cheese in it is amazing. The prawns were excellent and had a good kick to them too. We loved every pasta dish we tried; you can't go wrong. Mixed review, highlights and lowlights. Highlights: The risotto and two pasta dishes were really good. The Black Cod was also very well prepared, but it came out warm, not hot. Service was very nice and pleasant. Caesar salad was solid, enjoyed but could have had a little more anchovy. Lowlights: Portions are way too small (compared to peer restaurants Spinasse, Cantinetta, Serafina), probably the smallest pasta dishes in town. Our group ordered 3 desserts, the Tiramisu was fine, but the other two were literally toppings that I would expect on a dessert, not a dessert itself. We couldn't order the special pasta because they ran out (7pm). Server said they run out every night which begs the question, why not make more? I was here for a birthday dinner. Wanted Italian so we checked this place out. There's an indoor and outdoor portion. The inside was kinda dark... not my favorite. But we sat on the outside. 100% would recommend sitting on the outside as it was nice. The service was great. Our waiter was nice and recommended things to us since we weren't too sure about what to get or flavors. They even gave us a free dessert for a bday! How nice(: The area is quiet. There's plenty of street parking. The restaurant is nice too. The food was just okay to me. Nothing mind-blowing. Typical Italian food. It was priced on the higher side. It was very subtle and light. We started off with the ceasar and Burrata. The ceasar salad was lack luster, nothing great, probably wouldn't order again. However, the burrata was devine. I loved the addition of huckleberries. So delicious. We then got one of their specials and another dish on the menu. The Lumache and the Reginette. Both were good. I absolutely loved the Lumache, it was made with i believe veal. Had just the right amount of spice to it. So delicious. The Reginette was fine, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. I don't even know where to start. The flavor here simply cannot be beat. Mezzanotte has a very small dining room with an open kitchen, and lots of mood lighting. The menu is also small, but it is mighty!! We started with the focaccia and the burrata. The focaccia was perfectly fluffy in the inside, a slight crunchy on the outside with flaky salt. The burrata was the star of the night though. The burrata itself was perfect but the accompaniments elevated it! A mixture of roasted vegetables, evoo, flaky salt and walnuts. It was superb. I will always order it from now on!! I couldn't get enough of it, the mixture of textures was just perfect. My friend had the crab pasta and I could t taste it but she said it was perfectly creamy and the noodles perfection. I had the lamb papperdelle. The lamb didn't taste gamey at all, the paperdelle was also cooked perfectly. The sauce was sublime. It was savory and tart with the lime. Overall it was amazing. The cake was okay, the star of the show for that was the orange blossom whipped cream! The staff was also incredibly nice. This place is very trendy for today's wine bar/Italian scene, and i absolutely loved it. guilty of loving a well-designed aesthetic, but it doesn't matter if a restaurant doesn't have the chops to back it up, but mezzanotte does. their server was super kind and loved to laugh, and i always appreciate that. we ordered their house wine which was delicious, with their house focaccia and party sauce. that duo alone, and it would have been a good time. honestly, if you come here and just wanna down some chilled red and bread, go for it. not a bad option. we had some entrees and we all enjoyed them -- pappardelle, reginette and i forget the third one we had... we also had the capesante poached scallops, which were refreshing and delicious. the little queens were maybe the favorite at the table, and the pastas were all cooked well. for dolci, we had the mousse and fruit, which i think was the only thing for me that fell flat. it was kind of like a messier panna cotta that honestly didn't look very good on the plate. otherwise, no notes! read more

I had been seeing this place on IG so I've been wanting to go here! We finally got to check this place out tonight and I am so glad we did! We got the Nocino cocktail and the blood orange shrub. The cocktail was too strong for my taste (I like sweeter drinks) but it's still good! I loved the blood orange shrub! The server told us that they make their sodas in house and they don't have any store bought sodas like coke or Pepsi. Im ok with that though! The shrub was delish! I would order two or 3 of that next time! We started with the focaccia and the party sauce. The bread was amazing! Soft in the middle and the crust is chewy. Then the party sauce, which is made out of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Calabrian peppers, and i believe parmesan, is addicting! I would buy a jar of that sauce! The tajarin and the rigatoni were delish! My picture ended up being blurry but I remember vividly how delicious both dishes are. They're not overly sauced or flavored so you can taste and focus on the pasta, but both dishes were perfectly seasoned! The pancetta, the pork belly, was good as well! I do like the sweeter top. I do wish that it had the skin on and that it were crunchy so that it would balance the tenderness and the fat from the pork belly. But the lentils at the bottom did the job in providing the balance needed for such a rich and fatty pork belly. Nonetheless, I loved the flavors of the dish! The decor is beautiful! I love the brick walls and the darker interior. Oh and the bathroom is the coolest bathroom I have ever seen! The cocktails were the best part of our meal, which isn't to say the foods bad or even that these are the best cocktails I've ever had. Thats just the overall take away. The focaccia bread, which was our second favorite, eek, was paired with a really high-quality olive oil and vinegar accompaniment . We ordered the savory panna cotta appetizer because it sounded exciting and we had never seen anything like that on a menu. One out of five of us thoroughly enjoyed it and helped us finish it off. The rest of us passed on third and fourth bites. The burrata was a standard burrata, nothing special . It was the accompaniments that disappointed. The pesto was downright pasty, and the lemon tapenade was bitter . I'm not sure how these two standards could come out so uninspiringly. The reginette pasta was over al dente, just too hard to fully enjoy the Bolognese. The other pastas we had, the tajarin (simple enough to not offend or impress) and the tagliatelle were all right. Everything seem to be just a bit underdone with enough al denta to actually Shake it stick to the teeth, which wasn't super pleasant. The peas in the tagliatelle were the most dominate flavor diminishing the morel mushrooms. We sat on the patio, which was really nice and the improved from when we arrived as we started to build a large bill. We declined dessert in place of another round of delicious cocktails. I had dinner with a friend here. They were able to accommodate me on a Sunday night without a reservation. The setting is a bit dark and cozy. Despite this more intimate setting, the loud music does not allow for easy conversation. They have the perfect setting that could justify what they charge. There is outside seating enclosed in a plastic tent with heaters. It too is very loud. The service staff can come across as a bit standoff- ish and made it clear that there are no substitutes or additions to the menu. The explanation was more of the "chefs took time to craft this so you should enjoy it." Now the restaurant serves Italian - style cuisine. This is becoming a harder sell to me with each trip I make to Italy. This is not bragging, but becoming more familiar with what that means when I am being served Italian cuisine at a restaurant. I had the chicory cesar salad. This salad has a heavy cream -based dressing with some anchovy flavor. This salad has a bitter taste , expected because of the chicory. So here is the thing- can the salad be a salad and not a new invention on something that is simply beautiful to eat at the start of the dinner. I would take a pass on this. My dinning companion asked if she could have the salmon steak with that salad and was told no, can't breakup the menu. I absolutely love cheese. I have had burrata many, many times. It is served with a crunch chewing bread that was excellent. The burrata is served on a bed of pesto, pine nuts, and peppers and was tasty. The burrata was ooey, not chewy, and a bit more on the liquid side than I can remember 6 months ago when I last had it. I have dined at some of the most expensive restaurants in the city, and for $55 dollars per person, I did not get my money's worth and did not finish the meal. I would recommend serving the best Cesar salad that is classic and dazzling the patrons with your best dishes for dinner- I am willing to come back and try your desserts. read more

Second time here. Their menu rotates a few times a year so it was a fresh experience. On a Sunday evening there was no wait, the food was served quick, and the service was attentive. The focaccia with party sauce (not pictured) was 10/10. The sauce reminded me of Taiwanese chili crisp added to vinegar and olive oil. The pasta was good overall. Their meat sauce always has excellent flavor. Last visit, the waiter proudly explained how the meat sauces take hours to prep. Overall I recommend this place, even though the surrounding neighborhood in Georgetown is kinda dead. Great atmosphere and food. We sat inside, the restaurant is cozy and charming. Our waiter was very professional, we didn't wait around for anything. The cocktails were very good, we started with the focaccia (amazing) and a cauliflower appetizer. The pastas were incredible - my husband had the special of cacio a Pepe with truffles - he loved it, I had the risotto with tart cherry tomatoes, also incredible and our teen had the bolognese. This was such an amazing spot for dinner with a sweet patio. It has been in my bookmarks for a while and we had a chance to go for dinner with friends. The service was great--they were able to connect our tables and the waiter was friendly and really helpful (sweetly suggesting a soft serve spot in the neighborhood when the kids in our party were hoping for ice cream for dessert). The focaccia was wonderful and we were blown away by all of our pasta entrees--it reminded me of il Corvo and was delightfully al dente. I really enjoy going to this place to eat outside and spend quality time with my significant other over a nice meal. If you go right at 5pm, it isn't busy yet and you can get a table super easy. The servers are super friendly and helpful if you want recommendations. They are definitely noticeably slower when it gets more busy and after they take your order the service seems to go downhill. You will likely have to flag them over at some point during your stay. The drinks here are very good. I have not run into one I have not thoroughly enjoyed. I have tried multiple pasta dishes and my favorites have been the ones that rotate and aren't always on the menu. One of the ones that is always there, the tajarin, was just okay in my opinion. The slow roasted carrots had it beat. A lot of the Antipasta dishes we have tried have been very good. So bright with color, flavor and freshness. Friends reviewed tons of outdoor seating restaurants with heaters and this one came to the top. Located in Georgetown it was a drive for each of us but we thought it would be great place to go. With that said, i tried to make reservations several times online but they didnt have it avail. So I decided to go there at 4pm when they opened. Parking was fairly easy close to the front entrance. Once I arrived was greeted by someone who asked me if i had made reservations which I said no. I told him I tried a few days before and he scoffed at me sating he was just on there and it worked. I was taken aback. The place was practically empty and he was razzing me about a rez which was not my fault I had not been able to make it. I actually would have preferred one with COVID. Anyways, he seats me at a table and there were several - all were empty except one which seated a couple. After I got comfortable he came back and told me he made aistakr and had me moce to another table. Although i feltnkt was inconvenient and weird, i did it as i didnt want to cause any more weirdness esp with rez comment. It really had me think about this place as I had not even ordered yet and this is how I felt. Long story short despite all of the drama, the food and drinks were amazing. Despite the front person, our server was great. We had everything she recommended and made a lot sense as everything was fresh and delicious. We had an early dinner reservation for three. We were seated quickly in the nearly empty restaurant but soon others came in as well and the floor filled up nicely. We had a variety of antipasti and pasta courses. All were good but I thought the pasta courses were a bit small, perhaps assuming one would have a second course. Bit there were no vegetarian second courses that appealed to me. Some places solve this problem by offering two sizes for the past course. I believe this is a good idea. the wine list is brief but contains some fine offerings. The ambiance is a bit rustic but fun. The cocktails were excellent. read more
