Went to Raccolto for my first time with my boyfriend for date night and had one of the most amazing nights of my life! We had the oysters, beef tartare, grilled zucchini, and smoked halibut for our appetizers. It was all fresh and delicious! For the mains we had fresh halibut and neddle & ricotta gnudi pasta. The neddle & ricotta gnudi was the best pasta I ever had in my entire life! Creamy, delicious, and can tell the pasta was handmade. Ended the night with some olive oil cake for dessert. The cake was fluffy, sweet, and love the powder sugar on top. Our servers Kolby and Mary were amazing! They were attentive and friendly! They made us feel welcomed and took great care of us! Love that the restaurant had an open kitchen concept so we can see the chefs cooking and was able to thank the chefs for the amazing food! It truly pains me to write this review. Raccolto used to be our favorite restaurant, and one we would frequent anytime our wallet would allow. But the last couple of times, I've noticed the caliber of service and food decline. I decided to give it one last try tonight to celebrate my partners birthday and it was a disappointing experience. First of all, the service was VERY slow. We were waiting 30+minutes between finishing courses and our overall meal was 3 hours long for just the two of us. We didn't get our main until 2.5 hours of seating. Secondly, the food used to be crave-able and now I'd say it is fine. The Waygu was overcooked and charred, the starters were fine but lacked balance or inspiration, and many of the dishes were overly salty (and I love salt). After paying for the check, I provided feedback to the GM, hoping that they could recover the night and I could feel good about returning to Raccolto. However, the GM just made excuses, including trying to say it was due to my food allergy, and didn't do anything to acknowledge or recover the situation. Needless to say, the service and food is no longer worth the high price point and I won't be returning. read more

Cocktail: Uppercut Starters: G.H. Bread Service (wow!), Roasted Carrots, & Beets Pasta: Orecchiette, Agnolotti, Strozzapreti, & Bucatini Protein: American Wagyu Steak (medium rare) The service was great. There were a couple small glitches with the ambiance in our upper level seating: a bothersome security light in the alley outside our window kept turning on & off, and the climate control seemed erratic (too warm when we started, too cold by the time we left). This is my 4th time going to Raccolto over the last 5 years or so. Each time, I've left disappointed. The menu looks fine, but of four entrees and 2 appetizers at our table, we all agreed that the best thing we ate was bread (and it wasn't anything special). The fish was completely bland, and the pastas were very uninspired. None of the dishes were presented in a way that wow'ed anyone. Even the cocktails were some of the most boring and unimaginative I've seen. There are many, MANY better options in West Seattle (for pasta, I would even rate the chain Due Cucina higher), and for the prices charged, this one will be on my no-fly list from now on. read more

Bad: the grilled apps(shishito peppers and grilled tomatillos) were not all grilled enough, some were still raw. The staff here are so kind and always let any new customers know where their food is sourced. The space is open and breezy during the summer and it's such a bright and welcoming space. Wonderful dinner with friends on a lively Saturday night @ Raccolto. Attentive service, who thanks to the waiter, I tried a new menu item, braised beef ravioli with light mint and an incredible savory sauce! I savored each bite sipping alongside a lovely cabernet, YUM! Nice appetizer menu to share with friends, enjoyed a dozen oysters perfectly chilled and shucked to allow the natural juices to stay in the shell, and a lovely beet salad. The chicorie salad was tasty, but missing a little something, maybe some flake salt to top, and the salmon crudo had a little too much sauce, which we were not expecting, hoping to make the salmon the star of the dish. But all in all, we ate every bite! Suggestion to improve the ambiance downstairs in the main dining area, the tables in the center of the room need additional lighting, as the booths have overhead lights which create a warm and cozy vibe. The center tables are very dim, and I noticed a few people with their cell phones out trying to read the menu. I would suggest some of those rechargeable cordless tabletop lamps, there are many options out there and it would totally cozy up the dining space! :) read more

My husband and I are the parents of two young children with special needs. Needless to say, we don't get out much, but last night we paid (dearly) for a babysitter, drove all the way from Marysville, and went out on a long overdue date night. My husband chose Raccolto to surprise me with because the menu has so many of my favorite things. It did not disappoint! A blonde woman greeted us at the podium. She looked straight down her nose at my husband and me. I don't think she smiled even once. But that was the only sour note of the evening. Once the General Manager, Hunter, started taking care of us, we were treated like royalty. The oyster starter was perfection, the champagne mignonette the perfect accoutrement. Next was the pasta course. I ordered the bolognese, my husband ordered the braised rabbit dish. Hunter explained that they were out of the Strozzapretti pasta that bolognese is usually served with but that it could be paired with another pasta shape of my choosing. I asked for and took Hunter's recommendation which I believe was cavatappi, though it wasn't on the menu. Both dishes were delicious and very generously portioned, but we agreed that the bolognese was the winning dish between the two. It was rich and delicious, meaty but not overpowered by sometimes strong taste of lamb. I devoured it. I only wish we'd had some table bread to mop up the delectable sauce. Halfway through our pasta dishes, to my carb-loving heart's delight, we were offered a complimentary dish of the cacio e pepe! What a treat! And the generosity didn't end there--Hunter was incredibly generous with the complimentary pours of wine that he said would need to be thrown out at the end of the night if the bottles weren't finished. We were feeling indulgent so we also ordered main courses as well. I ordered the scallops and hubby got the osso buco . By this point I was so stuffed from all the pasta that I didn't mind in the least when Hunter regretfully informed me that they had run out of scallops. But to make up for the inconvenience, we were given another order of the oysters and the tuna crudo on the house. Did I mention how wonderful the oysters are? The tuna was wonderful too. It was the perfect light finish to an incredibly rich and satisfying meal. My husband's osso buco arrived and it was a revelation. We've had (and made) the variations of the dish made with traditional lamb and even beef shank many times. Pork shank was a first. And the SAUCE!!! I wanted to lick the plate clean. In short, this was the most perfect meal we've had in a decade, since before the children came along and we had the disposable income to enjoy fine dining at Michelin-rated restaurants rather than Red Robin or Applebees. Pretty restaurant with healthy looking plants. Moderate noise level. Still able to have a conversation. Service was slow but very friendly. I was just a party of one but my meal took almost 2 hours. It was Seattle restaurant week so $50 dinner for 3 courses. I loved that you get to sample all four appetizers. (They forgot to give me the asparagus but let me take it home for later.) You choose an entree and dessert from a short list (see attached picture of the options). Good food but not remarkable. I had the rigatoni. The pasta was undercooked so they re-cooked it. The dish had nice fresh peas and dill and lots of cute little mushrooms but it was lacking in flavor. Maybe the optional egg (for $2) would have helped. The lemon (1/2) tart had a nice zing. The other half was a cream tart like panna cotta with a crust. Worth a try when you want a relaxed evening. read more

appeared at the same time, not ideal. We were never offered the wine pairing option that was mentioned when we booked the reservation either, guess we won't do the wine pairing . First course was 4 sampler apps, 2 of them were tomatoes, nothing had much flavor other than the pickled watermelon rind - which was somehow the only redeeming feature of course 1. Course 2 is the only reason I didn't give this a single star, the pasta dish was incredible (a touch salty, but that's my preference anyway, blood pressure be damned), the mushrooms were great, this was the clear apex of the chefs offering. Third course was a piece of sliced pork served over grits and a red pepper sauce. Overall there was very little flavor and this grisly fatty serving of pork should not have been served in a restaurant of this caliber, period. Finally, the dessert was fine, 4 grilled peach slices with a sweet glaze. We didn't need a heavy dessert, so whatever, but come on man, so little effort for the price. I would still recommend the place, just order pasta from the menu and don't tell yourself this is a Michelin caliber joint, it's far from it. read more

Our plates are individually sized so I would recommend ordering more food," which contradicted what she had previously said. Food: 5/5 The carrot appetizer was roasted properly and the hummus that it came with complimented it nicely. Pasta was proper al dente, and the egg was poached wonderfully. The star of the show was the pork chop which was still juicy, plated beautifully and a huge portion. The tomato sauce it came with was amazing. Nothing sat for longer than 10 seconds before coming to the table (I could see it being placed in the counter/pass), so everything was as hot as could be. They don't rely on having flashy ambiance or those instagram gimmicks to get people in cuz once you try their food you will for sure be back! This review is a few months late but just had to give a shout out to Raccolto for turning what could be a bad experience into a great one. Came with my boyfriend one night before a concert, place was super cute (romantic, clean, modern, vibey). Food took longer than expected because the kitchen was short staffed. Our server who may have been a manager stepped up. Kept our wine glasses full on the house and ended up comping our meals due to the delay, which almost caused us to miss the concert. Pretty mediocre. Beef tartare lacked flavor, I think it needed more salt. Meanwhile the cavatelli was far too salty and it was undercooked. I know al dente is the norm but so chewy that it gets stuck on your teeth is a bit off for me. The creste di gallo was good when you got the guanciale but there were only about 7 pieces of guanciale in the entire dish. Oh and we got the chocolate cake which was very small for so many layers, it not very sweet and not very good. Only the candied hazelnuts on top were good. The little gems salad was good and the pork chop was good. Vibe was fine. We sat upstairs and it got a little warm but that wasn't an issue for me. I wished we could have seen the kitchen but it was probably quieter upstairs. Service was good. Also, one review on Eater said there were truffle shavings here. Beware of hidden fees! Raccolto is one of my favorite restaurants in west Seattle. But last time I went for dinner I noticed a 4% "restaurant fee" was added to my bill. I asked the server about it and they were not able to give me a solid explanation and said some big restaurants charge similar fees. Raccolto is tiny though. If the owners need to cover more costs, then they should raise the menu prices, giving guests complete transparency in the total price they will be charged. But don't be sneaky by adding hidden fees. It makes locals not want to support your business. I feel bad for the employees who constantly have to try and explain what the fee is too. I wonder how many times I have come here (and other guests) and not noticed the extra fee. Disappointing. I would've given 5 stars if it weren't for the fee that left a bad taste in my mouth before leaving the restaurant. read more

This was for a spontaneous solo visit back on 3/8/20. I had spent most of the day exploring Vashon Island and wanted to try some place new for dinner before heading back northbound. I have been unsuccessful getting reservations in the past to visit Raccolto. So from the Fauntleroy ferry terminal, I headed directly toward the Junction in West Seattle to see what my dining prospects were. Again, if you end up with a parking spot right in front of said restaurant, score! I recall being able to dine at a two top, but had to make sure I was done before another reservation was due. No problem with that when dining solo. Modern interior, welcoming service, and an on point experience from my cocktail and my dinner courses. Vendemmia (located in Madrona) of Chef Brian's restaurant empire remains my favorite, but this was a delicious overall visit. This was my last preC19 dining experience. I'm glad to see that they have managed to keep going through the pandemic. read more

OVERALL: 8.6/10 (Yelp Converted Score: 4.3/5). We dined in on November 7, 2020 (with an OpenTable reservation), as part of the 2020 Seattle Restaurant Week (more like MONTH) fixed-price dinner experience... unfortunately, we didn't get to do the SRWeek menu, because they don't do that on weekends (watface). So we ended up doing the "Chef's Choice menu" for $49/person. Here's that breakdown! 1) VARIETY/SELECTION: 8.5/10. The menu is only online now (understandable during COVID-19 times), and unfortunately, they didn't honour the SRWeek during the weekend (it's not mentioned on the SRWeek website or Raccolto's menu, which is disappointing - this would have changed our choices for weeknight dinners if we'd known we couldn't order it). 2) FRESHNESS: 9/10. Overall the meal was enjoyable and the ingredients fresh. Food had it's highlights and it's lowlights (4/5 at best). The hamachi crudo wasn't a huge portion size, the pasta was slightly bigger than expected. Between my partner and I, we ordered: - Hamachi Crudo - 7.5/10 - small size, decently tasty. - Burrata - 9/10 - really liked this appetizer, good portion size. - Herb-roasted potatoes - 8.5/10 - slightly greasy but tasted great, decent portion size - Rigatoni - 9.5/10 - great portion size (maybe too big?), tasted great, felt slightly bloating so not perfect. - Kurobuta pork shank - 10/10 - definitely the highlight of the night. The meat was so tender I felt like it was peeling off the bone without much effort. - Buttermilk panna cotta - 8.5/10 - good way to finish a meal, small-ish portion size given that it was supposed to be for two people, but tasted light and refreshing. 3) VALUE FOR MONEY: 9/10. For $49/person, this was more than the SRWeek option, and provided roughly similar options (and likely similar portion sizes). I really liked the pork shank and think that alone could be $30 for a plate; overall the meal felt like it was worth the ~$100 bill. 4) SERVICE: 7.5/10. Despite it being the end of the night, we still had to ask for the bill and for water a few more times than expected, especially since we were seated on a wall, very visible to where the wait staff would be idle if not serving a dish or cleaning / bussing tables. I will say that the food definitely felt like it took a while to come out - both of us were starving, and the table took a while to be seated, despite having an advance reservation. We waited an additional 25 minutes after our initial reservation time, and another 35 minutes to get the first dish of our "Chef's Choice" food order. 5) CONSISTENCY / FIRST IMPRESSION: 9/10. This place is owned by the same folks that own G.H. Pasta over in Belltown, as well as Vendemmia - both places of which I tried their pasta before, and thoroughly enjoyed. Raccolto specifically felt like it had a decent ambience, and the updated spacing in the store is great. I will say that despite my positive experience, this place feels weirdly on the line between fine and casual dining, but at a premium price. I realize the "price of doing business in Seattle" - but I feel like this could go the more luxurious route (price/ambience/food quality), and still find a similar level of success. I don't think I'd come back, at least until this place figures out what their audience is targeting, and fully capitalizes on that target market. read more

We came on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet with fewer than half the tables occupied. It sounds like on a weekend you might benefit from making a reservation. Loved the food, really friendly and prompt service, and pleasant atmosphere. Our server made an error but rectified it kindly and generously, which was unnecessary but appreciated. Only complaint is the price point but for the occasional splurge I found it a worthwhile indulgence. Food we ordered: - Half-dozen oysters. Delicious mignonette! 5/5! - Gem lettuce salad. Creamy, flavorful, bright dressing, gorgeously crisp leaves. 5/5! - Strozzapretti bolognese. Super flavorful. 5/5! - Agnolotti stuffed with wild mushroom. It's just not really worth the price nor is it good enough to put up with snobby people. It's also really loud. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We tried sitting outside, but moved inside because it was a windy day. I love that they have outdoor seating as well.
