Raccolto continues to amaze us. We have been there three times in the last six weeks, and we expect to be back soon. Everything, from the service by Ken to the food quality we received is what keeps drawing us back. I had seen the menu now included a rigatoni dish with braised pork, arugula and black pepper. Wow. So good. My wife continues to be stuck on the pasta with plugra butter, black pepper, parmesan. But this time she ordered a second dish for left overs, the fusilli arrabbiata, tomato, garlic, chili pepper. And it was terrific. The service was excellent. Our waiter checked up on us so often, but not in an intrusive way - just passing our table often and looking down. For example, we didn't ask for to go bags but HE asked if we needed them after seeing our plates full of food for over ten minutes. Food was great! Pasta was chewy and seemed really fresh. I dined here during restaurant week and did not have a good experience. I've had Raccolto bookmarked for awhile and was really excited to try the food. The restaurant is really nice and is aesthetically pleasing. However, I wasn't a fan of the fact that by the time I left the restaurant my clothes had reeked of their cooking. The food was okay for the most part. I liked that the appetizers course had about 4 different plates to share at your table. I got to try a little bit of everything that they offered. My main was the halibut and it wasn't very memorable.. The plating was fairly sloppy. I can tell that they were rushing to make my plate. The service was not good. Our server was initially pleasant, but I noticed a shift in her attitude and pace after I declined to opt into the wine pairings. A couple who also shared the same server as us arrived later than we did and received their appetizers and mains before we did.. We found that odd as everyone in the restaurant that day was essentially receiving the same meal. I just wasn't understanding her logic in serving people who came in about 10 minutes after we did? She never checked in on us and never refilled our water even after we had put the bottle on the edge of the table. Our plates of food were just being plopped on the table and she would vanish to cater to someone else's needs. I'm not sure if it's something we did, but we found the service to be unacceptable. Overrated and over priced pasta. Tough to pay close to 30 dollars for a bowl of pasta that is just mediocre. Tried three different pastas and three different appetizers and none of them were anything special. If you're looking for delicious Italian food worth the price, Raccolto is a bit underwhelming. Reservations at 6:30 pm with a window view and Gino as our waiter, perfect! We started with cocktails. I had the 2019 BECKSTONE Cab. It had a soft finish that I love, only $15.00 a glass or $58 a bottle. We started with the BURRATA honey, walnut, with sumac for $16.00. We had 4 people and 4 toasted bagettes but still had buttata so Gino brought us more bagettes. He was awesome. I had the ORECCHIETTE arugula pesto, hazelnut, mushrooms for $22.00's and a meatball. Review for Happy Hour: We live in West Seattle and always talk about this place, but have only ended up here a few times. Tonight we headed in for happy hour (5-6pm), which was definitely a good decision. The happy hour menu is pretty extensive and I highly recommend making it in time for this! We sat at the bar, which is small and only 6 seats. Raccolto boosts an open kitchen, which I don't always love everywhere- but here it is calm and fun to watch all the food come out! We were here on a Wednesday night, so not very crowded. It was a rare 85 degree Seattle day, so it was a bit warm- but not unbearable, even with the open kitchen. The dining room area was probably cooler since they had the big front window open. We always love their crudo! (Ok actually we can't resist crudo anywhere) Tonight was hamachi with Chili oil and pistachio. Delicious. Their fish of the day was Sockeye, which I am not a fan of so we did not order but it's only $12 on happy hour and usually we get it if it's anything else. We also ordered the spaghetti!!!! Not red sauce, FYI. But oh so freaking good. And inexpensive. Perfectly al dente and not too heavy. We were talking about how silly it is that we haven't been here more. I had such a great experience here with my sister, such a shame I waited so long to come here. Took advantage of restaurant week but I'll be coming back to try other pasta dishes. I ordered the Coho Salmon and my sister ordered Strozzapreti which was the house made pasta with lamb Bolognese. We were really surprised they offered almost all the appetizers, we were sitting at home deciding which two to order but was so glad we got to try everything. The burrata was to die for, it was so perfectly balance in flavored. We thought the steak tartare was a bit under seasoned. The hamachi crudo was good, had nice flavor and we both really enjoyed the salad. We also ordered a dozen oyster to try and a few of their cocktails. The coho salmon was cooked perfectly and not dry at all, I thought the saffron risotta was so delicious. I could have easily eaten that without the salmon. I did eat a bit of my sisters pasta. The pasta was so chewy and had a nice bite to it. I like the sauce but its not something I'd order on a whim. Thought it was a bit too tart but id love to come back to try another dish once restaurant week is over. Both of our dessert was good, i got the grapefruit mint sorbet and my sister got the spiced honey panna cotta. GET THE PANNA COTTA! if we weren't ordering different dishes to try I would have gotten the panna cotta, it's so creamy and luscious. Also Connor was our server and he was great! For parties of 5 and more they require a prix fixe, which is a great deal for $60, but I could not select dishes I wanted. Always a great experience when visiting Raccolto, from the ambiance, the service, to the food- all great! Love the open kitchen concept where you can see the chef in action. Their menu changes occasionally based on the season, but they specialize on pasta. The several times I've been here, I have never been disappointed with the food. Their pasta dishes have been exceptional! Last time we ended up doing the chefs tasting menu, which is $45 per person (minimum 2 participants) and it didn't disappoint! You received appetizers, main course, and desert. You can also add wine pairings to it as well if you'd like for an extra $25 per person. I suggest trying out the chefs tasting menu when visiting because it gives you a taste of their best items. Highly recommend this place for a date night, small get together with friends, or just a night where you don't want to cook. read more

It's been a long time since I've been so impressed with Italian. As someone who swears by Japanese, Raccolto seems to go by the same principals- simple, high quality ingredients that are there to elevate the main item rather than cover it. This isn't garlic and cheese smothered, it's balanced. The rigattoni was so shockingly perfect I feel changed by it. I never thought a little gem salad would be a masterpiece. Came here on a Friday evening and it was pretty busy. After we got a table and sat down our server was friendly and attentive. The food was good! Specially the pasta. The reason for my 3 star review is I came hungry and I left hungry.. unfortunately for me their portions are tiny, for my fiancé who is 5'3 and about 110lbs the portions were enough. Went there about 10 days ago. We always look at reviews to see where we want to go. Normally a 4.6 star restaurant is very good, however I would only give this restaurant about 3.4 stars. The lamb dish was very unimpressive, also on the champagne that they serve by the bottle is also very unimpressive. They should really find a different bottle to serve... We ate here for my friends birthday, anticipating a delicious upscale meal. My friends got the steak for two which was incredibly delicious. However, the two pasta dishes we had were very disappointing. The pasta with shrimp consisted of buttered noodles with Parmesan, and a few shrimp sprinkled around the edge. I got the mushroom pasta, which was a little bland, nowhere near the delicious mushroom pasta, served down the street at Due Cucina. Also, the peas in the mushroom pasta were hard and old. The tiramisu was good but average and their special rosemary cake was dry. I was disappointed in all the food except the steak. There are so many other options in West Seattle that I don't think I'll come here again. Also very overpriced considering the quality!! Again you can get delicious pasta at Due Cucina for $13. read more

I've never written a bad yelp review and it pains me to do so, but in the interest of saving your time and money - just skip this place and head to any of the options in the junction or on even Alki. The food was excellent! The service was more than horrendous. Our party of 6 arrived, got seated, started looking at the menu and our server arrived. I asked for his recommendation for the driest white wine they had, and he said verbatim "well two others ordered the sauvignon blanc so I'll just get you the bottle - it'll be cheaper" (glasses were $12 each and the bottle was $46 so this was not only not true but definitely not what I asked for). We went on to order some starters - oysters first, we ordered 6 and he recommended 2 dozen and we had to argue for just 6. He kept telling us they were from Hood Canal. Finally someone just asked what kind of oysters and he admitted he didn't know. He went back to the kitchen, came back and told us they were from Cortez Island (nowhere close to Hood Canal). Just weird overall, we should have seen the red flags by this point and bailed. Anyway, we went on to order further, he interrupted us midway through the starters to say that we should get every pasta and every entree, and then walked away. This isn't what we wanted, it ended up being way more pasta than we could eat and we missed out on some small plates that sounded great. A very cringey and sales-y experience. Honestly - every dish we got was somewhere on the scale of good (the salmon) to excellent (the Hamachi crudo) though regrettably we totally missed out on some menu items we wanted. I've never had a dining experience where the server didn't even ask what I wanted to order! It all would have been laughable if we weren't paying for it and required to sit through it. Overall, the food made up for the maddeningly bad service. We had a pleasant evening after the ordering SNAFUs and wrapped up. My partner and I put both of our credit cards down on the bill, to split it. The server came back with only my credit card - his was entirely missing, and the server charged me for the entire $400 bill. My partner went to the bathroom and stopped by the front of the house to find his missing credit card. Turns out, the server didn't drop it or lose it - he had put it in his apron pocket!! Good service, but okay food. I was looking forward to another Raccolto visit, because my past few meals there were excellent. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food this time. The front of the house was good. We were seated promptly, and service was attentive without amounting to hovering. Servers were polite without being sappy. However, both pasta dishes were far too salty for our tastes. I'm trying to use my "I" words and refer to our tastes, just to emphasize that every diner is different, so perhaps we're the only ones who did not care for these dishes. The lamb bolognese with the strozzapreti was neither rich nor saucy, and instead tasted like salty tomato paste, i.e., rather than saucy, the bolognese was pasty, thick and clumping to the pasta, and I could scarcely make out any flavor beyond that and salt. Sadly, the garganelli was no better. In fact, the garganelli was so salty that, despite being served with muscles, we agreed that it and the strozzapreti tasted mostly indistinguishable. This meal was not consistent with my past Raccolto experiences, and the restaurant has survived and thrived, so I have to believe overall they still do so many things right. I'm so happy we found this place! I love how it looks and feels; not over the top fancy and still simple enough where it feels classy and the vibe is great from the moment you walk in. Appetizers were amazing including the picture below and the pasta was delicious as well! Mainly for service since I never got to eat here. Came in on a Thursday before 6pm, half the restaurant was empty. A couple entered before us and the hostess greeted them warmly and sat them immediately. She did not ask if they had a reservation. Once they were seated, she came back and her demeanor shifted. Her tone was less friendly and it was incredibly obvious. We literally walked in and were greeted with so much coldness you would have needed a coat. We had no reservation, we said we could sit in the bar and the hostess disappeared for 30 seconds and told us there was nothing available for half an hour in the bar. The restaurant itself was half full. We didn't bother waiting since it felt like she didn't want our business which sucks since we live down the street. read more

This was my favorite pasta spot until tonight. The food is seriously delicious but I won't be returning since the general manager wanted to accuse me of stealing a reservation. I had told them I need a table for 4, and gave my name. He said okay, and sat us. Never once was I asked if I had a reservation until right before my food came out. Everything about this place is just amazing! The ambiance is simple and elegant, and the open kitchen speaks to the skills of the chefs. Last night I made spaghetti, and meatballs. The meatballs were handmade, and not to big up myself (#prayerhandemoji), they were on point. The sauce, and pasta were store bought though. I'm not going to shit on Paul Newman (RIP), so his sauce gets a pass. However, the pasta is always the weakest link. There's such a wide gap between dried store bought pasta, and fresh. Its almost like eating two different things, or equivalent to listening to mumble rap, and Gang Starr (RIP Guru). There's really no comparison! I've been to Raccolto half a dozen times over the years, and its always been superb. From the appetizers, pasta, and proteins, its all done extremely well. The restaurant is also fairly beautiful. Clean, modern, and cozy. Also, the service is top notch, and thoughtful. The staff knows the food well, they give great recommendations, and are overall fantastic. Tip: They recommend a starter, pasta, and protein. Every time before the last time i went last week I've only gotten a starter, and pasta. The server, who was great, recommended the aforementioned, and also a protein. Like a sucker, I got upsold. It was a lot of food, and after the starter, and pasta I was full, and didn't really have any room for the tasty protein. Go light people. You can always order more if needed. You're welcome. My favorite two dishes are the Foie Gras Mousse, and Bucatini. I'm a foie gras junky, and order it at any restaurant that has it, or a variant. Raccolta's version is a creamy, rich mousse on bread with a jam of sorts. I'm not smart, but I'd call it honey. Three pieces come with an order, but I can usually only eat one cause its almost too much good. Its a must have if its your initial visit. Although all their pasta's are excellent, I'm partial to the bucatini w/mussels. The pasta is chewy, and cooked perfectly. I've had all their pasta dishes, and haven't been disappointed once, so order with impunity. Tip 2: Make reservations or you won't get in unless you go in early enough. First time I went it was like 5pm (hey, I'm old, and although I'm not quite a grey hair yet, I like to practice their ways) and I got in. Subsequent times I've made reservations per their request. I gotta get out to this joint more often cause there's no substitute for fresh pasta. From the food to the service, everything is top notch at Raccolto.
